Review of Cranium Wonder Works Super Story Recorder

Yet another great CRANIUM toy. I puchased this toy for a very long car trip. (also purchase the Cranium Talking Picture Studio which was surprisingly dissapointing) This toy entertained our 5 & 7 year old for hours. It really got their creative efforts flowing. It is an electronic version of Mad Libs. It is durable, does not have accessory parts that fall onto the floor, easy to figure out...a WINNER. One note the batteries that come with it went out fast. I'd recommend changing the batteries before taking it on a trip, or bring backup batteries and one of those tinsy winsy screwdrivers.

The Cranium folks score again. My daughter got this as a Christmas present and loves, loves, loves it.

This is a great toy for late toddler and up. Using very easy to understand technology, kids record their own stories, if you are familiar with MAD LIBS it's the same premise but uses a recorder instead of writing. My daughter has as much fun playing with it by herself as she does playing with Mom, Dad, or her brother. This is a wonderful toy to travel with because it is a single hand-held unit, no extra pieces except an optional spinner to select stories.

My kids (ages 5 & 8) have really enjoyed this. It's like an electronic version of Mad Libs. Instead of writing your answers, you get to record your own voice. It took the 5 year-old a few tries to get the hang of doing this, but now she's really enjoying it. My only criticism is that you're limited to the 10 or so set stories.

I just received the toy today. I'm early Christmas shopping and since Christmas isn't for a couple of months I figured i'd try it out to see if it was working otherwise it would be to late to return if i wait til Christmas. When i turned it on the voice was slow and distorted it sounded awful so i changed the batteries. But even with new batteries the voice was still slow and distorted. I read the directions and troubleshoot section and it mentioned to reset the recorder if there were any problems. So i got a paperclip and insert it into the reset button. WA-LA it's all better. The voice is now fun and exciting and it works well.

So for those of you who have had trouble with the voice maybe if you reset the toy it will do the trick. As far as the funness of the toy, I'll have to wait until Christmas to see if my 5 year old enjoys it.

I think he will.

Cheap Manhattan Toy Dr. Seuss One Fish Fishbowl

My 8-month old son received this for Christmas this year, and it is a hit! He loves pulling the fish out of the fishbowl over and over again. The fish make different noises (except the 2 green fish make the same noise for obvious reasons)and he loves to shake them over and over again to discover what each fish does. The fishbowl is durable and you can fit more than just the fish in there for extra fun or for when you hit the road and want to take a few small toys with you. They're also machine washable, which makes it even easier to clean! Very happy with this gift.

I am pregnant and doing a Dr. Seuss theme nursery. This toy will look great on a shelf in the room. When the baby is a little older..I KNOW she will play with this a lot! I was amazed at the quality. Each fish does something different (crinkle sound, sqeaker,bells, etc. Worth the money!

The toy is just as pictured and appears well made. I like that it isn't too big. The fish bowl and little fishes are just the right size for little hands. But I was surprised to find that the fish bowl is not rigid. I guess that is okay, but may make it a little harder for a young child to use. Also, the packaging was a little odd. The cardboard box has a large opening to display the toy, but the opening has no cellophane. it is just...open. Instead, the box arrived sealed up in an oversized, loose plastic bag. The toy was a shower gift and was difficult to wrap because of this. Overall, I was pleased with the toy itself, and I think Baby will like it.

I picked up this book for my 3rd and 4th grader. They do not get enough Spanish in school, and bilingualism is important. So, I picked this book up, and I was very pleased.

It isn't a colorful book, but it makes up for that in content.

Each lesson builds upon the previous one.

The best part to me was that by the end of the book your child will be writing basic Spanish sentences and small paragraphs.

This book will ease your child into reading and writing in two languages.

And, it is thin enough to no be overwhelming.

This cartridge is great for my 3 year old. She uses it all by herself and loves to play the games. She really enjoys listening to the two stories about the princesses and she listens to them over and over. She is learning a lot as she plays with her v.reader. It is great because she loves to read and I can't always sit down and read with her but with this she can read as long as the batteries last. I would recommend it to any parent of a toddler.

Cooking Recipes on the Road is an awesome way to reinforce basic math concepts including measuring, counting, quantifying and more in very creative and fun ways. Kindergartners in my classroom have loved working on this game and a bonus is the world has opened up to us in a new way! As a LeapFrog Teacher Ambassador this game was provided to me for use in our rainy Southeast Alaska classroom. Food trucks are totally new to my students and after this exposure, they have requested to build a food truck in our dramatic play area. When I inquired how we would go about this, there was an overwhelming response to go to the "cooking game" for all of the answers. As a LeapFrog Teacher Ambassador I was provided with this product to review in my kindergarten classroom, and they loved it! Since food is one of their all-time favorite topics, they especially liked the "Recipes on the Road", which teaches general math concepts along with learning to identify numbers. My students really related to the food truck activities, since they are so popular in our neighborhood. The game definitely keeps my students engaged and on task!

I am a LeapFrog Teacher Ambassador and this product was provided to my kindergarten classroom for review. I decided to get the input of my five year old students and they seemed to love it! Upon speaking with them, I determined that the "Cooking! Recipes on the Road" was a HUGE hit! I loved the fact that it related to the same math concepts that I am currently teaching in my classroom: most, least, counting, and identifying numbers. To my surprise, I learned that this particular game also teaches them the "How To..." steps using transition words (first, next, etc.) to create foods such as: a PBJ sandwich, tacos, etc. This will be very beneficial for my students when we begin our "How To" writing, which will require them to write a story using transition words to teach someone else how to do something. Another added bonus was our discussion about food trucks! This is something that is not common to the area they live in, so thank you for our new vocabulary discussion that occurred in our classroom today!

The cut outs are perfect but this is not a snug case. The sides are a little flappy and very easy to lift when handling. It does have a good grip though so that helps it not slide out cute little hands. I'm hoping it doesn't stretch or it may be useless. It's all we have so its better than nothing :)

I really like this toy. I bought it for my sons 1st birthday, but ended up giving it to him a few weeks early. My son started playing with it as soon as we gave it to him. I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not because there were no reviews. But, I went with it. At first I thought it was a little small. I don't know what I was expecting, and I didn't look at the dimensions. But after having it for a while, it is the perfect size. My son can sit with it on the floor, or stand and play at a table. Its perfect! He really enjoys putting the balls in and watching them fall. I'll hear him playing while I'm off in another room.

The balls don't make much noise. In fact, my orange one doesn't make any noise. The others ones just sound like they have a tiny ball inside that can hardly move. But even with that, my son will still shake them. The toy on the back = pointless. They should have just put a funny picture or something. The balls roll down it, then roll off and do not stay on the track. Maybe the track isn't deep enough. or maybe my house is slanted, either way my balls do not stay on it. But who cares, the front is too much fun to play with the back anyway.

Even with those two things, I would buy this toy for everyone I know, and plan to buy it for my nephew. I've caught Dad playing with it, and I too play with it. It's fun to make your own rhythm with hitting the balls down: all at once, a second in between, once they hit a certain slide silly I know, but fun.

Plus, the toy seems sturdy. I'm very pleased with how it is made, and it is bright and colorful. The balls have some weight to them, which I like. I wouldn't have wanted a flimsy light ball. The toy can teach color matching by putting the balls into their colored hole. It also teaches cause and effect and coordination.

One more thing. It has a knob on the side that is for stopping the balls. For my son now, he doesn't understand how it is to be used. So, he'll turn it and it will stop the balls. I'll have to come fix it for him. This has happened once or twice, but not a big deal. After he understands it, I think it will be fun for him. He can let one ball go, then close it, and whatever else his imagination comes up with. That's just what I've done with it! :)

I bought the Tolo Ball Run for my daughter's first birthday. I am a big fan of the Tolo brand as they make quality toys that are durable. The ball run was a huge hit my 1-year old easily can put the balls in the holes, bang them down with her hand and watch them run. Over and over again :^) She loves it! Great toy. Easy for two kids to play with and take turns. The 3 balls have nice black and white patterns on one half, and colors on the other half. Later you can teach your child to match the ball color to the hole color.

My daughter is only 9.5 months and she loves this. She can put the ball in the top (not everytime, but maybe 30% of the time and getting better) and hits it a few times to drop it down to the track. She loves the clacking noise it makes (warning to parents it is NOT a quiet toy). I showed her how one day. The next day she put the balls up herself and the day after hit them through. She hasn't yet figured out the knob/switch on the side or what to do if there's another ball in the top preventing the balls from rolling down, so it will force some good problem solving skills. I really like that it's fun (visually and auditorily), helps with motor development and hand-eye-coordination, as well as problem solving skills. And she likes it because it is fun!

Edit: My daughter is now 16 months old and still likes this toy. She doesn't play with it as much, as she's had it a while, and has sort of figured out the knob on the side. When other kids come over (the oldest we've had is about 2 years), they've all had lots of fun with it and played for quite a while.

I bought this for my 10 month old son and he got the hang of it the first try, after I showed him how. He loves to hit the balls in the holes. I don't like the stop button on the side. There is no purpose for it and it easily moves and locks the balls in place so they can't roll down the slides. When he is older that may not be a big deal, but this young he doesn't know how to turn it back so he gets frustrated with it. I just duck taped the sucker in place to where it won't move.:) Besides that, it is a great toy!!! The balls are cool and he will just play with those by themselves. I also babysit an 18 mo old and 4 yr old and they both play with it too! So great for all young ages!!! It is actually quite small, but I like that 'cause it's not in the way and can be taken places when you travel. Would recommend for sure!

I work in a middle school as a math resource teacher, so I mainly work with strengthening basic math facts. This game is great b/c there are enough boards for a whole class, and the cards are double sided so that you can choose between two different games. I do hate punching out all the little red bingo chips, but it is totally worth it for the price. I have the multiplication bingo game by this brand too and my seventh and eighth graders LOVE it!

We got this for my son for his first birthday (he is now 2 1/2), and he really loved it then. He really enjoyed banging the keys and making as much noise as possible. Over time he has grown out of it though. He now is all about guitars and drums ;) Every once in a while he will hit a few keys on it but that's about it. Even with that said, I still think it is awesome. The sound is excellent for a tiny piano. The colors are beautiful and it is very well made. My favorite thing is how durable it is!!! Can be further used to learn or further develop either color matching skills and pattern recognition and formation by building/stacking pieces in a pattern formation. We personally aren't quite there yet but hoping to be with further use of this toy and others. It arrives and is exactly as shown in photo ad, so it is exactly what you can expect it to be when you decide to purchase this toy. If you are considering it for a child I would say go for it, it is a simple toy table that allows children to use their imagination and build creations! FYI our daughter & son like when we take pictures of their cool built structure creations, so it is a way we have been saving their work (and also been doing this with some of their artwork to ensure safekeeping & without the storage hassles we typically face). We found one of these for our 9 month old at a garage sale. She is 18 months now, and has enjoyed pushing pieces together, pulling them apart again, moving the gears, and sorting the pieces intothe storage buckets. We have hosted several of her cousins, ranging in age from 12 months to 3 years of age, and they have all enjoyed the toy so much that we have more to send them as gifts. If you really want to create a block masterpiece, this set takes some patience, but, if you are looking for something a little bit different that even th young ones can work with, then I highly recommend it.

I was excited about the Clipo table when I saw it on TV, but we were pretty disappointed when we bought it. The blocks don't really stick together well, so anything you make falls apart almost instantly. The table didn't do much to make them more fun either. How can you spin a creation that just fell to pieces? My advice is to buy the classic bristle blocks or Krinkles instead of these. They are the same sort of idea, but they work way better.

Great microscope! Easy to use and great optics. LED lights are bright and give a nice white light. The rechargeable batteries make it portable and the charger tells you when they are finished charging. The only strange thing is that you can't use both the top and bottom lights at the same time, although I don't know when you would want to.

A note on the seller: don't rely on the product descriptions on Amscope.com many of them are inaccurate and they won't refund shipping costs ($30 each way for a microscope this size) if you buy from Amazon and return it because it didn't match Amscope.com's product description. Ask them first to see if their products actually have the features they advertise.

The optics are very good we have looked at many things and are very satisfied.

However the lighting doesn't do anything you can barely see the light is on. We are using an external light which is OK for some things but not when you need a light source from underneath.
