I was hoping that since this was a TESLA coil that it wouldn't need to be plugged into Electricity to get it to work, but it does. The spark it pretty neat to see and it's good for experiments but I would have been better off looking for something else for my needs.

Wow! What a great science demonstration. The coil sparks, transmits energy across space, lights incandescent and fluorescent bulbs at a distance (or with only one wire). Tesla's theories were obviously correct. Cheapest and most reliable kit coil on the market.

Review of Nuop Design Blue Connectible Drinking Straw Kit (44 Pieces)
My 7 year old loves silly straws, and this kit was a great addition to our collection! I'm not sure who has more fun with it, him or me. A great selling point for me was that it was dishwasher friendly; no need to scrub all 44 pieces each time you use it! Even when connecting all 44 pieces, he is still able to get liquid out of his cup without needing to suck very hard.
The only drawback is that the straws are not standard size in diameter, so if you lose the ones that came with the kit, you're sunk.
All in all, this was a great gift and a lot of fun!

Cheap Learning Resources Count and Stack Dishes
My two-year-old daughter received these for Christmas, and in the month since then, they've been in constant use all over our house.
I'm not going to try to explain why she loves them, or why (despite my best efforts) she has no interest in using them as a set. But she's often carrying some treasure or other in one of the cups, or presenting me with a piece of wooden birthday cake (Melissa & Doug Birthday Party Birthday Cake on one of the saucers.
I like that there's just ten pieces, rather than the ginormous 30or 40piece tea sets I see out there. I also like that there's an opportunity to talk about colors, shapes, and numbers with her as we use them. I bought them on clearance for less than half of their current price, so it was a good deal for me as well.
I rated them low on durability because I'm pretty sure they'll break once they get stepped on, and because the printing on them is a little blurred on a couple of the dishes-more a sign of poor quality than poor durability, I guess.
However, all in all, they've been a huge hit with her, and I'd recommend them.

Hape Rainbow Xylophone Review
I bought this xylophone for my 10mo daughter. Its small size is perfect for her. She enjoys it all. I gave 4 stars and not 5 just because I wish the sounds it makes were brighter.

Cheap Spotlight BorderTM, Native American
It's African, not American Indian. But it looks good on the bulletin boards I purchased it to decorate. I was doing a Native American display and wanted a border to reflect that. But when these borders arrived, I used them anyway. No one noticed the discrepancy, and I have left them as borders for my bulletin board. Now I've changed the display to a wild America theme (animals, plants, landscapes) and the African borders still work. Nice borders, but not what they were represented.

Eureka Dr. Seuss's Giant Cat In The Hat Bulletin Board Set, 4 Reviews
When we bought this product I thought that it was a Cat in the Hat bulletin board. Instead it was just a poster that you can put on a bulletin board. Overall it looks great in my sons playroom but I was a bit mislead by the description.
I'm guessing, based on the advertising, that the item was not intended to be a stand alone figure, and that it was made for classroom bulletin boards. For our use, we wanted this to be a stand alone figure. So we needed to get it to stand up, and we needed to make it sturdier. For this figure to stand on it's own, it needs some kind of backing. The 4 panels need to be taped together to assemble it. This is my only criticism really. I would have expected it to come with interlocking tabs, or even adhesive backing to better adhere the panels together. But overall, that wasn't a deterrent as you can really easily just tape it yourself. Once assembled, the figure stands around 5' tall. We acutally used the packing box that it arrived in as our backing. We just cut a long rectangular panel from the packing box and taped it to the back of the figure to make it a little sturdier. It was a big hit at our party.

Very disappointed with the Cat in the Hat 5 foot poster. Came in four sections that had to be taped together to assemble the full poster and that detracted from the look. The poster was made of a light weight paper material which was not sturdy enough for the poster to stand upright. Again, had to use more tape to adhere it to the wall. As another reviewer previously noted, the description of this item is misleading. It is not a "bulletin board." Rather, it is essentially four pieces of poster board material that you have to piece together in whatever fashion serves your purpose. Knowing that, I ordered it, hoping to laminate it and put it on my daughter's playroom wall, but the lamination is going to be about twice the price of the item itself, and that seems a bit ridiculous to me. I then thought about boarding the back of it, but that's even more expensive. This is a cute item for a classroom wall or somewhere that will not cause it to be subject to constant touching. First off, just buy this. Its a great bass for the price. Im a guitarist that just needed something to mess around on and do some home recordings. Try to check one out fist at your local GC if you can, but you wont be disappointed with the playability and tone.PRO:

-Thin neck, which is great for folks with smaller hands.
-Tone from the P-Bass (split coil) pickup is great! Surprising deep and round.
-Light weight
-over all workmanship very good
CONS:
-The packaging, my box was all kinds of torn up, and looked like at had already been opened. Bass comes wrapped a thin sheet of packing foam.
-Desperately needed setting up. If you are new to guitar maintenance and setup you're going to need some help.
-Bridge pickup is a joke. SUPER low output compared to the split coils...
-frets are little uneven, neck too some time to set up.
-silver electronics pate was a little pitted (not the best hardware)
-volume and tone pots have a horribly short taper.
In conclusion although my cons list is long, I'm still super happy with my new bass. It gets the job done and it's fun to play. You truly get what you pay for with this one. But what you get ain't bad at all :)

I've read the rave reviews regarding this bass for over 1-year. I decided to take the plunge because I wanted a bass that is very light, (my Jazz bass is more than 10 lbs), one I could bang around, and one that was easy on my aging hands and fingers --what a pleasant surprise. The craftsmanship for a bass at this price point is spot-on. Initially it was tough getting the intonation to stabilize, but after playing it a couple of days it settled down. The P pickup is better than the Jazz pickup, but I'm using it for that Jamerson Motown sound and to practice, practice, practice. I went a step further and installed my favorite strings -D'darrio Nickels (short scale version); it was an instant moment of bass sounding bliss. Listen, it's incredibly tough to beat this instrument at this price-point; I bought the black one and thinking about a red one too so I will have one to "hot rod"! Recommendation: buy it; immediately change the strings and get a set up ; wax the body to preserve the paint job and enjoy, enjoy. Discount Fraction & Decimal Tiles in Storage Bag; 51 Tiles Set; no. CTU7673
I am a math teacher and I was looking for a manipulative to help my students develop a better understanding of equivalent fractions. These worked well especially with an Elmo to project their image on a white board. The bright colors also made for a better visual. The tray would have been nice to help keep things aligned when demonstrating equivalent fractions but it really isn't needed. Overall, I would definitely recommend this for a math classroom or for anyone learning fractions.

Clipo Creativity Table 100 Piece Gift Set by Playskool Review
Fosters creativity, hand-eye coordination and problem solving skills at a basic level. Can be further used to learn or further develop either color matching skills and pattern recognition and formation by building/stacking pieces in a pattern formation. We personally aren't quite there yet but hoping to be with further use of this toy and others. It arrives and is exactly as shown in photo ad, so it is exactly what you can expect it to be when you decide to purchase this toy. If you are considering it for a child I would say go for it, it is a simple toy table that allows children to use their imagination and build creations! FYI our daughter & son like when we take pictures of their cool built structure creations, so it is a way we have been saving their work (and also been doing this with some of their artwork to ensure safekeeping & without the storage hassles we typically face). We found one of these for our 9 month old at a garage sale. She is 18 months now, and has enjoyed pushing pieces together, pulling them apart again, moving the gears, and sorting the pieces intothe storage buckets. We have hosted several of her cousins, ranging in age from 12 months to 3 years of age, and they have all enjoyed the toy so much that we have more to send them as gifts. I was excited about the Clipo table when I saw it on TV, but we were pretty disappointed when we bought it. The blocks don't really stick together well, so anything you make falls apart almost instantly. The table didn't do much to make them more fun either. How can you spin a creation that just fell to pieces? My advice is to buy the classic bristle blocks or Krinkles instead of these. The skeleton isn't as bad as I initially thought. It is pretty well detailed in regards to the bones. Especially in he skull.
They tried to get it as close to the real thing as possible. Though, it is very difficult to do.
The quality of the product is also very good.
I don't even wanna see how the cheaper skeletons compare. It's great for study since the skeleton is labelled so you know exactly what you're looking at. especially in the skull.
Worth the money imo.

Cheap miniLUK Advance Collection Set
I bought this for my gifted 5.5yr old who had mastered the earlier books. He loves it and my husband and I get a kick out of playing too. We felt this was a lot of puzzles for the price after some comparison shopping. My only complaint is that unlike the earlier books which allow you to set the question number on the correct answer picture, these use a number coding strategy for both the questions and answers. This is somewhat confusing because both are numbered 1-12 and you have to keep track of whether the tiles or the tray spots correspond to questions and the answers. For instance if the answer to question 1 is 5 you have to remember to put tile 1 on spot 5 of the controller and not the reverse. Perhaps this is a good added mental challenge for some but it can frustrate young ones who want to focus on the questions themselves. My son is handling it okay though and I expect these to entertain him for quite awhile.
It is such a success as our daily "game" station, that I knew that I wanted this next step up series as the kids get bigger.

I also purchased the younger conplete series of this set, the Bambino. I am a former educator Grandma, that babysits 4 days a week.It is such a success as our daily "game" station, that I knew that I wanted this next step up series as the kids get bigger.

I love love love this product! I started off my older boy with BambinoLuk when he was 3 yrs 9 mths and we've never looked back. He progressed from BambinoLuk to MiniLuk in 3 mths (when he turned 4) and 9 mths later (at 4 yrs 9 mths), he moved on to MiniLuk Advance which is meant for kids aged 5/8 onwards. To up the ante, except for the really challenging exercises, I do not explain how each exercise is to be done but leave him to infer the logic underpinning each exercise by studying the example provided on each page. And Im glad to note that he hasnt encountered any major issues to date. Also, although I was aware that it is recommended for the controller to be placed on the book, I had requested for my boys to place the controller alongside the book which increased the difficulty level since not only does the child need to locate the answer on the book, there is the additonal step of transposing that answer onto the correct position on the controller. Seeing first-hand the multiple benefits of these books on my soon-to-be 5 year old, I started his younger brother on it when he 2 yrs 3 mths and he has since graduated to MiniLuk.This is a great product and I highly recommend it to parents of high ability kids! :)

RepRap Prusa Mendel Iteration 2 Complete 3D Printer Kit Review
I'm only at step 15 in the video series describing how to put the thing together. So far I'm happy with one exception. The parts have changed since the videos were made, I've been able to get around this so far. Step 14 had me stymied today (a Saturday) so I called the support number. To my surprise I actually got a person on the line. He was able to point me to a few pictures to help me out and I did make it through to the next step. I would give 5 stars for the experience so far however there needs to be documentation included for the places the videos differ from the currently shipping version of the kit.
[Edit] I've completed the build using the videos as my guide and had to call support a couple of times. If you get this kit note that the RAMPS 1.4 connections are not shown in the videos however they are pretty straight forward and looking at some pictures and the wiring diagrams I was able to get it hooked up. Every time I called support I got a human being, which is a GREAT thing these days. I think I blew up the motor controller board (because I wired the power supply incorrectly, make sure to use the square plug wires with two green wires and two black wires from the PS) so I'm about to find out if the 90 day warranty is correct. It took me five days from start to finish working through several steps per day.
[Edit 2] The new RAMPS board is on the way, they gave me no problems at all with the replacement so I'm changing my rating to 5 stars.
[Edit 3] I've found that putting blue painter's tape on the heat bed glass fixes many issues. The glass I got with the kit was warped so I went to lowes and picked up a small piece of flat glass. The thermistors are tiny and fragile, I replaced mine with larger REPRAP thermistors (had to drill out the hole on the J-head hot end). I've run into a lot of issues with my printer but this isn't due to this kit, it is due to design flaws and #D printing still being in the early stages. I still recommend this kit just be aware you WILL have issues and you will have to work through them.

The kit went together smoothly, generally, and the final steps of downloading the software and making the necessary changes and additions, though a bit mysterious and requiring quite a few "rewind and replay" iterations, resulted in a fairly complex machine working properly THE FIRST TIME! Response from NWRepRap via e-mail has been very quick and always helpful. A wonderful exception to the general lack of service we become used to. I've been having a great time designing my own parts on the OpenSCAD (Computer Assisted Design) program on my computer and then downloading them to print. My friends and neighbors are impressed.

Complete video and illustrated instructions are available on-line and almost MUST be followed realtime while assembling the kit. I purchased a kit from nwreprap.com and shipping was fast. The nwreprap.com website contains COMPLETE assymbly videos that detail all aspects of assymbly and calibration. When I had a problem with calibration I was able to call their phone number and the guy that recorded the videos was available to walk me through the process. I posted a video of the problem that I had and Aaron from nwreprap.com looked at the video and told me exactly what I needed to do to fix the problem. When buying an Open Source hardware kit I always wonder what kind of support would be available, sometimes its hit and miss. This is not the case with the nwreprap crew. I was building the printer to show off 3d printing at a Maker Faire in Tieton Washington. When they realised that they were geographically close to me they even offered to drive out to the Maker Faire to make sure it would be a successful demonstration. This turned out not to be necessary as they were able to help via email and phone.You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Moleskine Passions Film Journal/Carnet Films Review
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The 5" by 8", 240-page Film Journal notebook is part of Moleskine's Passions series that also include issues for Recipes, Wellness, Books, Wines and Music. We live in a world where not too many of us can find the time to write down their thoughts, with a pen and on paper but, again, the Moleskines aren't for everyone. To the extent that there are people who not only love to write but love to write specifically about the movies they watch, the Passions series Film Journal is a notebook dream come true. But, let's examine what one gets.
First and foremost this is a Moleskine, and it's very much true to its tradition of look, feel and quality. It comes with the traditional and most useful elastic band, nice cardboard binding that allows it to lie flat when opened without cracking the spine, excellent quality paper, rounded corners, THREE ribbon bookmarks and the 2-pocket mini accordion file inside the back cover.
Now, this being a Film Journal, it includes a listing of a few dozen major film festivals, sorted by continent and location, an event planner, personal tabbed pages under half a dozen tabs with preprinted tab stickers to be found inside the accordion file. The main section is, of course, the movie journal. Alphabetically organized, it provides one page per movie with sections for recording the movie's title, country and year, awards won, directors, actors, quotes, notes, opinion and rating. For a movie lover who loves to write, can't get much better than this.
I love this notebook for its quality make, its design and for its familiar look and feel. But I am repeating myself. It's a 5-star item without hesitation.
In other words, it doesn't make me feel like I had accomplished writing a lot of reviews as I would've if only I could write down my entries chronologically and see what I had written page after page. The alphabetization is a weak feature for me especially because in the back pages they already have blank index of the movies so why the alphabetized tabs especially when you can only review a limited number of six films under each letter?

About a month later though, I started another script and thought about my moleskin journal and started filling in the details on page one from day one. The point of something like this is twofold:
1. It directs your pen to a specific thought when you have an idea and the object is to be specific.
2. Portability. Yeah, other journals are, too, but i kept remembering i had this crazy little thing and kept putting notes into it.
Maybe it's novelty, maybe it's a fad. I don't know. But I'm getting ready to purchase my third one now as I'll be starting a new script in November. If you use it to contain and direct yourself, you'll appreciate the results.
The notebook is well crafted with themed incised designs in the embossed black leather-like cover. An elastic slips over the long end to keep the book closed and loose items from falling out, and the pages are acid free.

First and foremost this is a Moleskine, and it's very much true to its tradition of look, feel and quality. It comes with the traditional and most useful elastic band, nice cardboard binding that allows it to lie flat when opened without cracking the spine, excellent quality paper, rounded corners, THREE ribbon bookmarks and the 2-pocket mini accordion file inside the back cover.
Now, this being a Film Journal, it includes a listing of a few dozen major film festivals, sorted by continent and location, an event planner, personal tabbed pages under half a dozen tabs with preprinted tab stickers to be found inside the accordion file. The main section is, of course, the movie journal. Alphabetically organized, it provides one page per movie with sections for recording the movie's title, country and year, awards won, directors, actors, quotes, notes, opinion and rating. For a movie lover who loves to write, can't get much better than this.
I love this notebook for its quality make, its design and for its familiar look and feel. But I am repeating myself. It's a 5-star item without hesitation.

I've been happily using Moleskine notebooks and this is the first time I'm using a Passions Journal. I like the minimalist concept and the quality of paper. However, the alphabetized tabs of six review pages each seems more of a LIABILITY than an asset to me. Why? So far, I have already watched and reviewed five movies and my journal still feels and looks empty because they're scattered everywhere following the stringent alphabetization of the titles of the movies that you watch.In other words, it doesn't make me feel like I had accomplished writing a lot of reviews as I would've if only I could write down my entries chronologically and see what I had written page after page. The alphabetization is a weak feature for me especially because in the back pages they already have blank index of the movies so why the alphabetized tabs especially when you can only review a limited number of six films under each letter?

I have a chronic condition that sometimes makes me feel awful and puts me in bed for days at a time. When I have times like that i watch a lot of TV. More recently I got a Roku player so I could enjoy more movies that I have wanted to see. Soon, however, I found that if I watched a movie when I was at my illest I would forget and tried to re-watch the same movies over and over. So now I write down all the movies I watch. I love this journal and the only thing I would do a bit different is put less customized options at the end and a few more lettered tab pages in the front. The only reason I say this is that I seem to have a penchant for movies starting with the letter S and it's already full! I will end up using the customized portion for overflow so it's not a big problem. Basically it just simply means your Moleskine Film Journal will be flexible and grow to be whatever you need it to be!
