My 26 month old loved the alphabet so we just bought this one to supplement for numbers and counting. It is just as good. The only difference is that there are actual grooved cutouts (like a puzzle) to put the numbers into whereas the alphabet does not have that. Other than that, the quality of the letters and cards are top notch like every other Plan Toy we've owned. We look forward to lots of play and learning with these.

I ordered these for my 3 year old daughter to help her work on her number recognition.. They are very good quality. The numbers are wood and different colors. And the pages are thick and have a groove for the number to fit into. They also come with a bag to store which is very good since there are small pieces to lose. I would buy this again. And I am going to buy the letter version as well!

Was hesitant to order this because of price and durability of some of the other Plan Toys things we have. This is the first numbers thing we've bought that our twins are actually excited about. Something about pulling the numbers out of a bag, numbers perfectly sized for their hands and then having something to match them with. The quality is excellent -very strong, smooth numbers that fit into very thick cards. We have the Plan Toys nesting bowls that were of thinner wood that breaks easily. These numbers seem very tough to snap. Super pleased.

Honest reviews on PlanToys Plan Preschool Number 1-10 Baby

There are so many fun possibilities for learning numbers: use it as a puzzle, trace the numbers, draw the numbers from the bag, counting, etc. Absolutely great for my 2.5-year-old!

Unfortunately, our first set arrived with two of the same cards, while another card was missing--not going to work! Amazon was AMAZING and sent us a replacement two days later. The second set had some issues too, so it's a good thing we had two sets to choose the right pieces from!

We homeschool our three children. I really like the Montessori method, but finding well made Montessori learning toys that are afordable is not an easy task! This toy was made in Thailand. Finding a toy that is not made in China is so difficult these days! Plan Toys are the best, they are affordable, so well made that they can be handed down, made Eco friendly, and not made in China. Who could ask for more!

We purchased these skates for our daughters 2nd birthday. She loves them. They have three settings. One where the wheels don't move, one where they only go forward and regular setting. She loves to do everything by herself. So with the first setting she has "skated" by herself from the begining. We also have friends who visit with their children ages 3 to 7 and they love them too!

This toy was actually a lot smaller than I thought it would be; not to say that is a bad thing. It would be the perfect size for in the car or on the go. I think what makes this toy so fun is the fingers that light up. If it did not have this function, I think the toy would get boring more quickly. I bought this for an advanced 2 year old's birthday, and I think it was perfect. Since it has the function of adding and subtracting, this is a toy that he can play with for years to come. If you are looking for an educational toy that can keep interest, I think this is a good buy.

My two year-old likes this toy. This sturdy toy has blinking lights and counts out loud. She plays with this toy often, but it doesn't keep her interest very long. Counting and number concepts in a sturdy, light-up toy.

This is a dynamite toy. Its little, cute and fun. Its the perfect size for those doctor's visit to keep them entertained. It has a catchy song, challenges the child and helps them to add and subtract. I wish its toes lit up like the fingers so the children could learn to count to 20. All in all, I would still recommend.

A small miracle in itself is to see a little brother and his sister playing together with a TOY! IT keeps the peace for quite a good stretch of time and IS educational and reminds me of the old board games; with a twistlights-words-talking! SUPER FUN and SUPER CUTE -especially a PLUS as it is a ROBOT-so if you have a little one that is needing to learn to count or improve his number concepts this is it-he or she will GROW INTO IT! Awesome toy! Will be back for more versions of this UP DATED ALPHIE CONCEPT!

Purchased this breadboard as a hobbyist expanding my knowledge in electronics.

The board itself is nicely sized (large), and allows for pretty decent sized circuits to be constructed. Basically, it is 4 standard breadboards side by side, with an additional bus strip run horizontally on the top, all connected to a solid backing. 4 binding posts allow for additional external components to be connected. It looks like it should last quite a while if treated well.

The jumper wires are of a very wide length of sizes, and allow for easy color coding when working in complex circuit prototyping. The box the come in (clear instead of the blue shown) allowed for easy organizing of the different sizes.

Overall, it's a pretty good combo, and reasonably priced for the size of board you get. Other than that, it's not too complicated of an item, so there's not really much else to say. 2 Thumbs up!

Nice sized bredboard for beginners. Big enough to stretch out and even comes with a bunch of pre-shaped wires. The poll pieces seem a little flimsy but so far have proven to be just fine.

I wasn't expecting much. Sorry Elenco but I never really considered Elenco to be top of the line stuff. This breadboard exceeded my expectations. The boards are mounted well and the holes seem like they will stand up well to constant use.

When putting on the banana jacks notice they are keyed both top and bottom. Line upt the flat ends in the hold when you tighten and they will stay in place.

I'll buy again and won't turn my nose up at Elenco products without trying them.

Honest reviews on Elenco 9440 Breadboard With JW-350 Jumper Wire Set

As many people noted, it's a breadboard so there's not much to say. The contacts I've used so far are all electrically sound, and I'm very happy with my purchase. My only nits, and thus a 1/2 star deduction (if Amazon allowed for a 4.5 star rating, that's what I would have given it), are:

1. The adhesive on the little rubber feet wasn't up to the task. I ended up having to dot them with some CA glue.

3. The kit comes with 4 feet, presumably one for each corner. Given the size of the board, it would have been nice to have gotten a 5th foot to place in the center for added support.

2. The 4 power terminals, unlike the rest of the board, are... cheap. It's hard to describe what I mean, but suffice to say one notices material quality, or lack thereof, as compared to the rest of the board.

I guess you can consider the added jumper kit either a great value, or an overpriced stand-alone (see Elenco 350 Piece Pre-formed Jumper Wire Kit). You can buy this same breadboard on Amazon for a $1.30 less if you don't want the pre-cut jumper wire set 9440 Breadboard-Prototype Design Aid, but personally I think this wire kit for that price delta is money very well spent... if only for the little parts box*. Needless to say, I'm in the "great value" camp. In fact, if I could get just the case w/ jumpers for $1.30 as a stand-alone, I'd order several more.

*DISCLAIMER. Who knows if this pricing will hold in the future. Do yourself a favor and compare before buying.

the Breadboard is very nice and looks like is going to work fine for a long time, great product. I dont find very usefull the "jumper wire kit" but it is a good complement, i will prefer a few dollars less on the price...

I bought this kit from Marc Cryan through his Kickstarter project. It is the perfect size project to introduce young kids (and even adults) to all or one of basic electronics, soldering, and programming. My 11 year old daughter was curious but didn't know what to expect. She quickly got the hang of soldering after about 5 minutes (I've done a lot of soldering but I'm no expert either). She was very pleased to have accomplished that and have a working Blinky Fish in about 30 minutes. Since Mark provided a starter program you can run on your Arduino so you can see results immediately. That was two weeks ago. We haven't yet done the programming part of the project. This is where she can experiment with her own ideas for making it interactive. The nice part of that (I hope) is she can keep it simple and see results. Then when she's more confident she can make something very complicated. Yes, you can make interesting behavior and learn a lot with three lights and one button. I have complicated state machine ideas we could play with later but I don't want to spoil the self driven exploration part of it for her so I'll keep quiet for now.

Consider getting the "FishBowl" that is also for sale. I bought that too. It is optional but it will let you run your Blinky Fish plugged only into the battery powered FishBowl which is much smaller and more portable than your Arduino board that is probably plugged into your computer.

One final note about assembly. You almost can't go wrong except if you are not familiar with LEDs. They are not symmetrical like resistors and switches. Be sure to follow carefully the instruction Marc provides which show the orientation in the picture one LED leg is intentionally longer than the other. Maybe a better text explanation could have been provided in that step.

Have fun.

I think we own about half of the LeapFrog products on the market. My oldest daughter is four and this is by far her favorite! (I must also confess it is my favorite, as well as one of my wife's favorites.)

It brings together classic Dr. Seuss silliness through rhyme, as well as teaching kids to read by inventing silly creatures. The activities re-enforce the lessons in reading, rhyming and vocabulary, and these reinforcement activities are just as fun as the book's storyline.

I definitely recommend it to any parent seeking to expand their child's My First LeapPad library. You will enjoy it just as much as your children.

I just bought the My First Leap Pad Bus for my 28 month old. She wasn't very interested in it at first and I thought I'd just wasted $25...... until we got "There's a Wocket in My Pocket" to go with it. She enjoys the story and touching the different Seuss creatures with the magic pen to hear their silly comments (we especially love the jertain in the curtain page). It's a great book and has encouraged my daughter to give some of the other My First Leap Pad books a chance.

Best Deals for My First LeapPad Book: Dr. Seuss's There's a Wocket in My Pocket

Great educational toy for preschoolers, heck my older daughter gets a kick out of it too. It's Dr. Seuss! Lot's of fun with words. Children will be entertained for a while. Too bad Leappads aren't made anymore. I think it's great eye, hand coordination. I know I know, leapster and explorer have better technology, but I think leappad is great for the younger children that may get overwhelmed with the more computerized choices out there.

Honest reviews on My First LeapPad Book: Dr. Seuss's There's a Wocket in My Pocket

My son (3 1/2) loves the characters in the First LeapPad book series, but doesn't really enjoy the LeapPad books. The pace is s-l-o-w. The orientation is instructional -and not very fun. The system depends on the reader pressing a green "Go" button to identify which page is active. Every page is framed by a border that is reserved for the successively located "Go" buttons. This works fine until your little pre-reader zips the stylus over the full page looking for hidden treasures and triggers a "Go" button for a different page. Then everyone's confused. If your child is used to structured learning, they'll probably like this a lot. If your child is used to the pace and interactivity of computer software, save this until they have some preliminary reading skills.

Review of Discovery Exclusive Macro Microscope

Discovery Exclusive Macro Microscope
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

We used this in our homeschool science studies and found it to be durable, good quality and easy to use. The macro scope is used for looking at bigger items such as pollen, skin, newsprint, plants, fur, & insects. (We also bought a good biological microscope for studying cells.) We all, from the 4 year-old on up, have enjoyed this microscope; it has held up for 10 years and is still in fine condition.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I researched microscopes for a month before settling on the Discovery as a birthday present for my grandson. My primary complaint is that the 40x (400x with eyepiece) came with an internal flaw which should have been caught in quality control. The packaging of the contents was also so buried in sticky tape that I suspect it may have been a repack. I'm awaiting an RMA as I write this.

Design-wise, the upper stage illumination is via a fixed acrylic light pipe which works beautifully with the 40x and 100x combined objectives. The 40x and 100x imaging couldn't be better. When the 400x objective is in place, however, the lens barrel blocks almost all the light, making it nearly useless as a light source. Under-stage illumination is excellent.

Structurally, the microscope is first-rate, ideal for an 8-year-old boy. Controls are big and bold and it seems damage-proof, one of the reasons I chose it. However, the accompanying instructions are aimed at a far older reader, are superficial, and are preoccupied with advanced concepts like staining instead of the very basics (simple things that are fun to look at-house dust, salt). The token sample slides are of herbal and wood cells, a neural cell, and, of all things, mummy wrap, all subjects far beyond the interests or understanding of 8-year-old boys, who, in this age of diminishing attention spans, want something that can be comprehended intuitively, set up immediately, with a high WOW! factor, and instructions and peripheral materials aimed at a second-grader. But vials of methyl blue and gum media?

I'm also curious as to why this product is considered a "toy," when the manufacturer's description indicates a more sophisticated instrument intended as an introduction to scientific research and exploration, which it would be but for the defect and other drawbacks mentioned above.

I bought one for my daughter a couple if years ago and it works great so when my grandson wanted one I ordered another one. It is fairly easy to use and has clear focus I would recommend this to anyone with a child that loves to explore and learn

Best Pan for Gold Science Kit Deals

Pan for Gold Science Kit
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
My kids and I recently had an opportunity to try out a few different versions of these kids science kits, and this one was tons of fun. This Pan for Gold kit is well suited for kids who like spending time doing hands-on projects. My daughter is the kind that can easily spend an hour sitting, carefully looking though things. She loves "projects" so this was just perfect for her. My son has a shorter attention span, so the Real Bug Digging Kit was better suited for him. He knew exactly how many things he was looking for, and had fun finding them. This kit, you never know how much or little gold you will find, and my daughter loved the hunt.

Almost everything you will need is included in this kit. They provide a pan for "panning" the gold, the sand to search through, tweezers, a mini magnifying glass and a little vial/container in which you store your treasure. There are included booklets that explain how to pan for the gold, and also some education materials on the history of panning for gold. There is even a large chunk of fools gold included, which will appeal to younger gold prospectors out there using this kit. About the only thing you will need in addition to the kit is some water and a bucket or tray in which to swish/pour the water into from the pan. We used a large cake pan, and switched out the water a few times as it got cloudy. There are 2 packets of sand included in the kit, with one packet having slightly more and larger gold nuggets than the other. This is the kit you start with, to get the idea of how panning works.

This kits is a terrific idea for a kids gift. It's a great way to make sure you're not buying someone something they already have, or are likely getting from anyone else. This kit was very age appropriate for my 11 year old daughter. I could see kids from about 8-9 years old, up to 11-12 enjoying this set. Any younger and they may not have the patience to enjoy the panning process. My daughter spent about 2 hours working on it before she felt she had found everything there was to find.

A sample of this product was provided by the manufacturer for an unbiased and honest review. My daughter had a lot of fun working with this kit, and I would high recommend this to anyone who's looking for a unique kids Christmas or Birthday gift!

It just so happens that my family has been gold panning a lot lately -real gold panning at the rivers and streams in the wild. I was interested to see how Dr. Cool's Gold Panning Kit would mimic real gold panning.

Impressive. The kit comes with a gold pan that's about the same size as one of our small gold pans. We will be adding it to our collection of pans and using it on our future gold panning excursions. That's how authentic the gold pan is.

There's one small bag of beginner sand and another small bag of prospector sand. You'll need to provide the large plastic tub of water.

Instructions are quite accurate. Gold panning takes lots of practice, easier said than done; but the basic idea is to agitate the pan so the gold moves down to the bottom and the sand moves up. Wash by letting it float over the pan's ridges, repeat.

My son did all the panning. He said the prospector sand has more pyrite than the beginner sand. The nuggets were big enough to pick out with plastic tweezers (included). Other than the pyrite, that was probably the least authentic part of the gold panning. Generally, we get flakes, not nuggets, and they're not usually big enough to pick up with tweezers. The kit comes with a vial to store the pyrite, the same type we use for real gold flakes.

I panned the sand after my son was done. I didn't find gold, but there was black sand and more pyrite. Pyrite, black sand, and gold are often found together, especially black sand. No black sand, no gold. I wouldn't be surprised if some of those little bags of sand have specks of real gold!

Even though the children were initially reluctant to pan for gold ("it's just pyrite"), they did enjoy this kit. It feels just like gold panning, except we were in our own backyard. My son was more successful than he is with real gold panning, and that did make his day.

In case you're wondering, pyrite only looks like gold when it's reflects the sun. Otherwise, it looks more like silver.

Happy panning!

This product was provided for review by Discover with Dr. Cool.

Best Deals for Pan for Gold Science Kit

I bought this kit for my 10-year-old son, and he had a blast with it. He practiced his gold panning over and over, and now he thinks he's ready to go prospecting! The Adventure Guide booklet that came with the kit was really informative--lots of historical info about gold and gold mining. We both learned a lot. Plus there was also an Activity Book that had really fun games and puzzles. All in all, I felt I got a lot for my money. Not just a one-time experience.

Honest reviews on Pan for Gold Science Kit

This kit is mediocre at best. The size of the Pyrite nuggets in the kit I received were considerably smaller and less in number than that shown on the box. In short, they were very hard to find the only few that were there. I do not recommend this.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Pan for Gold Science Kit

This kit requires you to fill up your own large basin with water and add a small packet of sand/gold dust to it. It wasn't much fun for me or my son. His interest in it lasted only a short while and I'd rather spend that amount of money on something that he'll enjoy longer.
