This is small, just like in the picture. But still looks cool. It arrived well packaged and comes with a shear silk pouch. I placed my with my crystal items atop a mirror and use a bright LED light above to enhance the reflective quality. Would buy again.

Alphamagnets: Lowercase Letters; Multi-Colored; 42 Piece Set; no. EI-1632

These lowercase magnet letters were exactly what we were looking for. My daughter is very interested in learning letter sounds, and spends a lot of time talking about and sounding out magnetic letters on our fridge. However, most sets of magnetic letters are all uppercase, which isn't ideal for learning to read since in books, most letters are lowercase.

We also have a set of Melissa & Doug wooden magnetic letters (both uppercase and lowercase). However, we'd lost some (leaving us with no lowercase of some letters). Also, some of the Melissa and Doug letters are a little hard for kids to understand. For instance, the two parts of the lowercase "i" are connected together in a confusing way.

These new letters are great. The letters are much more clearly shaped, rather than "bubbly" like the Melissa & Doug ones. The magnets stick fine, all except the letter o's, which slide a bit for some reason. They're not strong enough to hold up papers, but plenty strong enough for play. They're a little smaller than the Melissa & Doug letters and the "standard," common uppercase set we got at a yard sale, but the size difference is minor enough that they can still be mixed and matched to spell words. This is exactly what I was looking for.

My son loves his "buggies". Having purchased other Hexbug Nano products before, this was exactly what I expected. The antlers are an absolutely adorable addition to this festive critter. The ornament casing, rather than the normal tubing added a fun twist to this present... though it wasn't long at all before my son spotted this on our Christmas tree! I have yet to see this product in stores, and purchasing from this seller was actually cheaper than purchasing directly from the Hexbug site itself... and it was nice to have a choice between the red, or green version. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and will likely purchase the green version as well.

This was a fun stocking stuffer for the Hexbug Nano fan as well as an ornament to put on the tree.

Best Deals for Hexbug Nano Christmas Ornament - Red

I just love the antlers! They are removable, by the way.

The packaging is a great ornament for the tree too.

This little guy scuttles around the kitchen very fast, so make sure to keep him from getting under the stove or fridge!

The legs don't actually move, the whole thing just vibrates so fast that it "scuttles" around. The legs are just for show and are flexible so that you don't need to worry about them breaking off. The whole thing is rather sturdy.

We hid this on the Christmas tree! Didn't take my daughter long to spot it Christmas morning. She was excited.

I was really happy with this product and Amazon has the best price. It is durable plastic and looks like it will last for a long time. It is also long enough to hold those blank strips, I only have to cut off like 1 inch off of them to fit. Great for homeschooling or with small groups. If you have it up for a long time it does start to cave in but I rest it on it's side and it get better.

I ordered this to use for examples for class. It is plenty large, but not so large I can not carry it around. It is sturdy so that taking it from class to home and back again will not tear it up. I has plenty of pockets so that I can make sentences or use it for simple matching words.

It was perfect for what I wanted it for, especially the handle to carry it with at the top.

This makes the pocket chart that much better, having both sides. I can have both my little ones learning with it at the same time! It's small enough for storage, but certainly has enough pocket space to get through all activities!

Reviews of LeapFrog Creativity Camera App with Protective Case

LeapFrog Creativity Camera App with Protective Case, Pink

Ok, so who doesn't hand their kids their phone to keep them from fussing when you are waiting in line, having an important conversation, or stuck on the bus, train, etc? I live in NYC and I have over an hour commute each way with my kids to their classes. So, I've been desperate to find things to keep them occupied on this commute. Before I got this case, I had my phone in a toddler proof case that worked fine. However, in the past, when I handed my kids my phone to entertain them, after a few minutes of scrolling through the camera roll on my iphone they were usually bored with the phone and handed it right back to me (or threw it on the floor, depending on their mood). So, I decided to give this Leapfrog camera case a go.

The way that you use this case is that you download the iTunes Leapfrog creativity app onto your phone. The app is free but you need this camera case to fully utilize the app. Then you pop your iphone or ipod into the case. The great thing about the case is that kids can't access anything else on your phone but this app when your phone is in this case. So, you don't need to fear that they will be sending your boss an email of gibberish or friending random people on your phone's facebook account as they use your phone. Instead, with the creativity case, kids are locked into the Leapfrog creativity app which has six modes for them to choose from. With the app they can do things like take photos, play matching type games, add graphics to their photos to make silly faces, or do photo missions to create albums of their photos.

Overall, the case is very sturdy. My kids drop it constantly and it keeps my iphone safe. The only downside to this case is that whenever I put my phone in and out of the Leapfrog case, I then have to take it out or put it back in my other toddler proof case, that I typically use. Also, when my kids have had the phone in this case I have missed some important texts and notifications. So, keep in mind that you can't just quickly grab the phone from your kids in this Leapfrog case and respond to texts, etc. Also, if you are out in public, you have to make sure that your kids don't drop or leave this case anywhere because if so, you also lose your expensive iphone.

Nevertheless, the pros of this Leapfrog creativity case certainly outweigh any negatives. Unlike before when my iphone would only hold their interest for a few minutes, now with the creativity case/app where they can take and edit photos or play games my kids will play with my phone for a much longer time. All in all, my kids think it is so cool to have their own camera type toy and I think the bright colors of this case and child friendly design and features continue keep my kids engaged.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

The Creativity Camera is the perfect first camera for toddlers of a new generation. All kids love using their phones and iPads to capture special moments, but I have an iPad with a cracked screen that proves little ones may need a little extra support in this area. The Creativity Camera provides a protective case over the device, so even if it gets dropped or banged, it will probably survive. But that's only the beginning of what it does. Placing the case over the iPad or iPhone makes it like a real camera, allowing kids to focus and press a button when they're ready to take a snapshot. The large buttons are much easier for little fingers to master. But there's still more! Included with the camera are apps that allow kids to enhance their photos with silly decorations and even play fun learning games that will teach them the alphabet or just provide a little action without any violence. My daughter is 3 1/2, and while she needed a little guidance initially, she has now mastered all the features of the phone and can play independently. The Creativity Camera is a great way to set kids on the path of photography and fun and would definitely make a fun and affordable gift his holiday season.

My 16 month old loves the Backyardigans, so I had to get her this game. It is so cute! She loves it because she loves them so much. It has great educational games and even teaches sign language. However, the words it teaches in sign language are not useful at all. It teaches Sun, flower, pie, fish and goodbye. Honestly...when will those really come in handy. I see the connection in the game, but I would of liked if it taught her please and thank you...things you can actually use. However, since that is the only downfall I can't really give it less than 5 stars!

Haba Jumbo Peg Board Review

Haba Jumbo Peg Board
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

We received this is a gift and we fell in love. It is a beautiful toy and very solid and well made. I actually think the price is quite modest for the quality. My son has been playing with it since he was a year old. First he learned how to take the pegs out, then put them in, then colors, and now we are working with size. He also likes to use them in other way including stacking, places them in designs, and incorporating them into his play with standard blocks.

This will be a gift to every child I care about.

Note that not all Haba toys are manufactured in Germany anymore but this one is.

It seems that finding children's gifts this year is more about safety than anything else.

Colored dowels in a block of wood. Boring? Quite the contrary. This is great for developing hand eye coordination, matching, counting...

The beauty is in the simplicity.

Best Deals for Haba Jumbo Peg Board

I am such a fan of Haba toys! I have purchased several Haba items as gifts for other peoples' children but have not used them myself nor observed the children using them, so this has to be a qualified review based on the design and build of the item only.

The age range of this toy is 2+, but I purchased it for my 11-month-old great-nephew because it seems to me he can manipulate the pegs now and grow into full use of the pegboard well before he reaches the age of 2. (My daughter would have been using the pegboard before 18 months, as she was doing puzzles by that age.) If my prediction is true, this toy should have quite a span of use, from gnawing, to eye-hand coordination, to color, pattern, and size recognition.

The set is beautifully made and very sturdy, heavy enough to stay where it's put. (I wouldn't leave a small boy with missile-launching upper body capability, this toy, and a glass coffee table alone together. Just sayin.') The pieces are beautifully finished; I didn't find any rough places on the board or on any of the pegs. The colors are just as vivid and true as depicted and the pegs do not seem to be painted so much as imbued with color. The only concern is that the shortest pegs are a little too small for him to use alone at this everything-in-the-mouth stage, but his parents are aware and they have the options of withholding the short pegs for now, using it only with supervision, or introducing the entire toy when they deem it appropriate.

Just a beautiful multi-tasking toy, designed and built to be used for a long time and then handed down. This is not a toy for one child; it's a toy for a family's generations of children. Kudos to Amazon for making Haba toys, and others like them, available to us.

I know that price is an issue for many folks. But, in reality, some kids have many more toys than they need. So please, let them play with the two most popular and affordable all-time toy choices, your Tupperware and your random empty boxes. Then save up your latte money, stay out of the big box stores, and invest in your child's future with a few quality toys like this. And, if you can afford it, spread the word by giving quality toys or books to others. Choose excellence, and support it with your wallet. Kids are our future people!

Honest reviews on Haba Jumbo Peg Board

Nice quality toy. I bought this because the diameter of the pegs was larger, 1.5". This challenges my son with cerebral palsy to open his hands wider. Nontoxic paints and good quality workmanship. For more thoughts on toys for children with special needs, check out my blog at

This drum seems to have a nice tone to it, and it's obvious that the head is made from real animal skin... at some point I need to shave the hairs off it! (ick) Seems to be very sturdy, too.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

this is a good sounding drum. I bought this for my husband, who use to play drums, because he was interested in the bodhran. The rim is sturdy, and the skin looks to be in good condition, no thinning in places and it's nice and tight. If the hubby sticks with it, then I'll get him a more expensive drum. But as it stands, this will be a good practice/learner drum.

Best Deals for Trophy Bodhran 14 in

A lovely drum with a lovely tone. Truly a nice bodhran considering the price range most drums are found in.

Honest reviews on Trophy Bodhran 14 in

I purachased this bodhran AFTER I had purchased a larger 18 inch drum and was having problems as a beginner, holding the larger drum properly as I'm a small female. I had a death grip on the larger drum, so much so that I was causing bruises on my inner forearm from the drum rim. That being said, I bought the smaller 14 inch drum and the fit is MUCH better!

This a a nice little drum, although on arrival the drum head was so incredibly tight and thin that I was afraid it would tear and the sound was horrid!!! In all fairness, it arrived in the dead of summer, very low humidity and I feel quite sure that contributed to the tension and tinniness of the drum.

I let the drum acclimate a bit indoors, and then applied a few sprits of water to the inside of the drum head, waited awhile and it seemed to improve a bit. Since I didn't want to keep applying water to the head, I gave it a bit of drum conditioner on the inside of the skin, let it soak in and wiped off the excess and now it is quite a bit softer, more flexible and has a deeper more resonate sound.

The tipper that came with the drum, for me was pretty useless, very short and heavily weighted on the ends. While I find some weight to the ends of the tipper helpful while playing, this one was too short to maneuver easily, so I merely used one I had on hand.

I'd definitely recommend this for anyone entertaining the idea of learning to play. Great price,(not horridly expensive if you later change your mind about learning to play or lose interest) fast shipping, hopedully your drum won't encounter the problems I had and the tipper will be prefect for you. Nice drum to just hang on the wall for decoration if you're into that, but what's the fun in that! :)

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Trophy Bodhran 14 in

I am a bodhran player with more expensive drums. I purchased this one two years ago (when it was half this price), and it is my favorite. The head is supple with a nice tone. The tipper that accompanies it is also very nice: lighter and smaller than other tippers, so it's easier for smaller hands and longer playing with less hand fatigue. The frame is also lighter than other frames, which again lends itself to less playing fatigue. I highly recommend this drum as an excellent first drum. But again, I have been playing for several years and have other drums, and this one is my favorite. Mine came without a lot of hair. It was sans the decorative band, but I prefer it without it, anyway. I would definitely buy this again and probably will in the future.

My 1 year old daughter absolutely LOVES this toy!!! She takes the bones out and then puts them all back in over and over for hours on end! The rubbery bones make great teethers, but they are fairly small so if your child sucks on things I would be hesitant to give them these. My daughter just chews on them and I watch her closely. I love that this will grow with my daughter too as a great learning toy. I plan to have her feel and pull out the matching bone when she is a bit older. Overall an awesome learning toy!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

My 23 month old is obsessed with this toy! It's bigger than it looks, but still great to bring to a restaurant. She lives sorting the puppy treats and putting them in and out of the box. I pretend I am the pup, making him "speak" to tell her how hungry I am and that I need a (blue, bumpy, fluffy, etc) biscuit and she tries to find it ( to tease me with?). Great quality and texture assortment!

Best Deals for Learning Resources Ruff's House Teaching Tactile Set

This toy was purchased for the young children with autism with whom I work. It is perfect for teaching tactile matching. The surfaces are different enough from one another so that matching can occur without confusion. I also like the fact that the toy has as many parts as it does, which increases the number of responses that the child can make.

My toddler and infant both use this toy. My 9m old loves to reach into the dog house and find something inside. She finds the flaps appropriately frustrating and an obstacle to overcome; she would really like to see inside.

My toddler does not play with it independently. He needs someone guiding the activity and suggesting how to use it. Otherwise, he'd load the bones into a truck and drive away. He has little interest in the suggested games. He's quite capable of matching them, and pulling one out at a time requires patience. So effectively, the toy is too boring. He might develop an interest in it in the future. But we do talk about textures, colors, soft vs hard, etc. for a few minutes when I work with him.

The quality is not the best; hence the loss of a star. The flaps on the dog house are skewed. We received it with one flap so offset that a corner was out along the edge. I think my 9m old managed to pull another flap out of the edge as well. And, as others have mentioned the size of the dog is comical. The bones were a little smaller than I had expected too, but still large enough.

I am a professional musician, and most educational music toys were very limited. When I got this book I was pleasantly surprized to find that it not only teaches song melodies, but as they grow it teachs note names, values and pitch. This is a wonderful addition to your Leap Pad Library!

Hope this Helps!!

My 2 1/2 year old got the leap pad for Christmas. In an effort to find books that were more his level I picked this one up for him.

This is a great book for the leap pad. In fact it is one of the best ones we have seen so far. (We haven't used very many though.)

The songs are classics. The instruments you can play the song with change from page to page, so you might have an accordian on one page and a violin on the next. The idea that you can learn the song line by line is neat as well as clicking on the individual words to learn each word. My son has enjoyed clicking on the seperate notes to play his own music.

This is a fun book. Enjoy!

Best Deals for LeapPad: Leap 1 Music - "Mother Goose Songbook" Interactive Book

This is a fun Leap Pad book it has 14 songs/rhymes and allows the child to learn lyrics (either line by line or word by word), 3 different instrument sounds and the musical note names themselves. The only concerns I have are 1) that the pages of the book are relatively thin and rip somewhat easily and 2) this particular book's icons at the bottom of each page are confusing. They are designed to look very cute with swirling ribbons around them, but it's hard for my daughter to clearly understand what each one does. It also doesn't start playing a song when the child clicks the GO circle they have to click on an instrument, and then the singer, to hear it sung. This is different from the other LEAP books, as they all start reading the page to the child as soon as GO is clicked. I don't think it's a reason NOT to get it; I just wish they had made it consistent with the other LEAP Level 1 books.

We were a bit disappointed in this book. The tunes and tempo of several of the rhymes is different than the "usual" versions that my kids are familiar with. The pages could really use to be more durable, the cord from the pen has caused several small tears and the pages rip from the spiral binding much too easily. For the price, I would suggest getting a different book...Thomas the Tank Engine & Bob the Builder were both very popular with my 4 yr old son.

Cheap Kenson Kids - "I Can Do It" Reward and Responsibility Chart Made in

Kenson Kids - 'I Can Do It' Reward and Responsibility Chart Made in the USA. 11' X 15.5'
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
I have bought several different types of charts over the years (like putting stickers onto little 5" x 5" paper charts You all know what I'm talking about) I think this one is the best. Although I did not purchase this from Amazon.com

The task squares and stars are velcro so they can change, be removed or added depending on how you teach your child or what you are specifically working on at that time. The task squares have pictures on them with the wording underneath.

At my daughter's school, they start the kids off every day positively with a "green". When they misbehave, they have to "pull" the green card or apple. I have chosen to do the same with the stars on her chart. She starts off (she is six) with all her stars because there is no reason why she can't to do everything that is on the chart. When she fails to complete a task or misbehaves after one warning, she will have to pull a star off.

If you decide to teach in this method, you will need extra stars. Go directly to the website of the manufacturer () to order more. You can also order a whole array of other task squares that will fit into your childs needs. I also have a four year old who has different tasks that he needs to work on. He needs to work more on being nice, listening and not to whine. When he receives so many stars, he receives a reward.

Which brings me to my next positive about this product. There are also blank task squares. You can write, draw or print out a picture of the reward or a specific task not available. This is great because our little guy loves to play with his DS or the Wii. Usually it's a weekend reward but if he's really good, he can play for 30 minutes during the school week. Our six year old loves completely different things so her reward would maybe be a shopping trip to a Learning Express (where I purchased my first chart) or maybe even a sleepover at her grandparents house.

It grows with your children as well. If you have older children and are having them learn how to take care of the house (washing the dishes, taking out the garbage, feeding the dogs) the company's website has tasks squares for that as well. I have already purchased those and will slowly add those onto my daughters chart as she perfects each task. As they say, out with old and in with the new.

I have read other reviews about some of the pictures on the task squares and I agree that they are questionable. The one I really find questionable is "Good Table Manners". It shows a boy eating spaghetti with his hands and having sauce all over his mouth, shirt and table. Now, how is that showing good manners? A picture of the boy with a fork in hand and a napkin close by, that is good table manners. I think it's an easy fix. Take a thin red marker and draw an big X over it and explain that this is what NOT to do.

But there are some pictures where they have no choice but to show a picture of an incorrect action. How would you picture "No Whining" or "No Back Talking"? I say get that red marker out!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

like that it illustrates tasks for kids who can't read yet, but some of the tasks are confusing. for example, the one that says "good table manners" on the square has an illustration of a boy eating w/ his hands w/ food everywhere. so I'm explaining good table manners butshowing this pic, to my son who is 4 years old. A few of them are like this in the supplemental packs. In the Behavior and Complaining pkg, there's one that says "Use kind words" but the pic. shows an angry child expressing mean words to another child who is sad because of those words-it doesn't make sense. However, the structure of the chart is simple and most of the illustrations are consistent w/ the task.

Best Deals for Kenson Kids - "I Can Do It" Reward and Responsibility Chart Made in

This product was the best I found when searching online for a chore chart. Seems to be well worth the money. I realize that you could just use your own whiteboard/wipe off chart, but Kids Like Stars!

It was very easy to switch my 2 1/2 year old daughter from getting stickers as a potty reward to getting these plastic stars. And things we were trying to encourage like making her bed, helping with the laundry, picking up her toys, and staying in her own bed all night had their own card too. (I purchased the supplemental "Chores" add on.)

Pro: durable stars, flexible chores list, great child buy-in! Also it is a good size, big enough to be visible, but doesn't take over the door. The box for "# of stars" and "Reward" keeps me accountable to follow through on a promised reward, hard to forget when its right there in black and white. No problems with the chart staying up on the door with the magnetic strips that came with it.

Con: Even with a 2 year old I was wishing I had another row or 2 of chores (6 chores can be tracked at a time), perhaps if the rows were not as tall another one or 2 could have been fit in. So you might need to still do some of your other reward system tracking.

FYI I don't think I looked close enough to realize that it was not just a star each time you do something (regardless of which day), but one column for each day of the week. So it can be confusing with things you want them to do more than once a day. We had to decide that she got a star for brushing her teeth in the morning, but wouldn't get a second star for brushing them at night too for example. Try explaining that to a 2 year old :)

Honest reviews on Kenson Kids - "I Can Do It" Reward and Responsibility Chart Made in

We have been using the I Can Do It reward chart for both our boys for two years now. We used it at first to address problem behaviors and then as they got older we use them for their chores, so that we don't have to remind them everyday what they are expected to do. They just look at the chart and do it! Occasionally if a behavior problem creeps up on us we just add it to the chart and it's usually resolved in days.

Lots of parents told me this system was a waste of money, but after I noticed a similar system being used in my kid's schools and hearing how well behaved they are at school, I decided to give it a shot. My kids stop and think now before exhibiting bad behavior because they know the chart is on the fridge, and they know they are working to earn stars....and they actually compete to share more or whatever to have more stars that the other! They earn a trip to the dollar store a week, or they can save their weekly prize to earn a larger prize down the road. The stars are durable, the charts are easy to read. Even my 3 year old can "read" her list of things to do (or not do) by looking at the pictures. I just ordered additional packs of behaviors and chores so we can mix it up a bit.

This has to be the worst title for the mobigo. Devoid of any fun, organization, or educational value.

The games are pointless and not fun. It's as though this particular title was just to use a Marvel license to generate sales-the games must have been an afterthought.

Both our sons love this toy. They both have sensory processing problems and problems with fine motor control and the toy helps them with both. Our infant development specialist recommended it and it was an instant hit. The 3 yo loves to stack the cars on it and has fun imagining what the anilmal drivers are doing. Our 17 month old plays with it, too. He loves to push all the buttons and listen to the noises and sounds it makes. It is good for developing fine motor control as they play with all the pieces. It's also stimulating enough to keep their interest. Like I said, it was an instant hit and after two months they both still play with it frequently. It's durable, they haven't broken anything on it and our boys are rough on their toys. I highly recommend it.

My son loves this toy. He was 9 months old when we gave it to him, it makes lots of noises and keeps him focused. It is the first toy that he would play with for more than 5 minutes at a time. The animals are the perfect size for him to hold. The toy is very durable he bangs it into stuff all the time, and puts all of his weight on it and nothing ever happens to it

My son got this for Christmas last year when he was 1 1/2. He's now pushing 2 1/2 and he still plays with it all the time. There are so many songs, sometimes we still hear one we've never heard before. He has a great time playing with the little cars and putting other cars he owns on the truck. The little cars also fit Fisher Price Little People in them, so we play with it a lot with that and with his Duplo's. I love toys that can be combined with other systems. Great for any little one who likes trucks and rolling things around!

My son got this as a gift last Christmas when he was 8 months old. As soon as we took off the paper, he started playing with this while it was still in the packaging. He wasn't interested in anything else that was going on. Now he is 20 months old and he still plays with his "uck" for a good portion of every day. At one point it was sticking on the horn and honking constantly. I thought the button might be stuck, but once I replaced the batteries, it was as good as new. I think it is neat that each of the animals makes it respond differently when they are put into the driver's seat, and my son likes all the buttons and the cars. He'll even take the animals and line them up on the window sill. Apparently, they also make good teething toys, because he chews on their heads quite a bit. Considering the amount of action this toy sees on a daily basis, it it holding up wonderfully. I have had to reattach the back gate/ramp a couple times, but that's only because my son likes to throw/drop his toys to see what will happen and it landed wrong. It wasn't broken though, and popped right back on! Very durable.I highly recommend this toy and have bought it for birthdays on several occasions.

We have had this toy for over a year and both my kids use it regularly. It is very durable and probably the loudest bell we have but lots of fun when we're being musical and dancing around.

Our 10 mo old loves it!! It's noisy but not horribly so--would have been great even 6 mo ago with the handle to chew

This bell is one of baby E's favorite toys much to my husband's dismay. It is rather LOUD but it makes a lovely jingling sound that makes me wanna sing Jingle Bells every time I hear it. It is very durable, easily cleaned, and I imagine we will have it for a very long time.

I love these bells. I use them for a baby music class, and I would definitely buy more if I needed more instruments. They have a very nice sound, they are very durable, and they are easy for the babies and parents to hold and shake. They also stand up to a good sucking, which of course is important for use with babies. I highly recommend them!

What's not to love about a cage bell. This is perfect for little hands and all of the little kids in the neighborhood love to come over and play with it. It's not too loud and a fun way to make sounds. My little on loves it. Perfect size, quality and price for such a big smile and lots of happiness for my little one.
