We found this item at a warehouse store for a great value and my 4/5 year old loves it so much. Yes, there are "only" 4 stories on it, but how great is it that she can take the small but powerful school bus speaker and listen to the book of her choice? The unit is plenty small for little hands. There is a pause function but beware if paused too long, the story will go back to the beginning and you will have to start all over. We love the voices, music and sound effects. Moms can only do so much at story time the added music and soft spoken tones during the quieter stories are perfect. Well done. We are searching for more of these.

You can only move the arrows in one direction which makes jumping around to different times to "test" or play guess the time games is difficult. You cannot quickly go from 2:00 to 11:45 to test your child's knowledge of telling time. You have to move the minute hand around, and around , and around, and around............It's a long way to 11:45 that way. I think the description might even tell you this but I didn't realize exactly what that meant until it was here. ex. Good quality product though, just not exactly what I needed for my children.

This is a great item, large and fun for children. The numbers are foam and the middle piece plastic. As the minute hand it turned, the hour hand also rotates making telling time easier to demonstrate.

As an early elementary teacher, I know how difficult it can be for younger students (and some older students as well) to grasp the skill for telling time. They can tell time when looking at the "how to" we write together but have difficulty remembering it on their own. What hand goes with what number, etc.

The reason I love this clock is because of the different color of the hands. It may sound silly, but the short hand 'red' goes to the red numbers and you can write the blue numbers (5,10, 15...) for the minute hand (beyond the hour numbers) and those hands will color coordinate making it easier for children to tell time.

I did see another reviewer write that they did not like that the hands only go in one direction (like a real clock would). I look at that as an asset. Students are able to see that one revolution of the blue minute hand points the red hand to a new hour.

If you want to quiz students quickly, you could use flash cards, little Judy Clocks or homemade clocks with plates and paper brads.

I think this is an excellent teaching tool and I highly recommend it for any teacher who is teaching students how to tell time.

This is a fabulous clock to have on your board for instruction. The clock hands have a very strong magnet, so it will not move from placement. The kids prefer this to the older clock manipulatives used in instruction and it allows you to make the clock as big or little as needed (bigger so you can make marks for the minutes or smaller for advanced practice). I definitely recommend this purchase!

This dancing bear is very cute and works (dances) very well. I have him on my desk where the only light is a small lamp that lights the computer key board. The bear's head and body swivel back and forth. I bought this dancing bear and three other dancing flowers to give as gifts. The flowers are a big disappointment. When placed in the same area as the bear they hardly move at all. When placed in direct sunlight, the flowers hardly move at all. Synopsis: the bear is great --go buy one, but forget the flowers --they're a waste of money.

I bought this guitar for my 14 year old daughter to be able to play and pack around figuring that it was fairly cheap and I would not be worried if it accidently got scratched, damaged, or abused when camping or at the river, etc.

The other reviews told us how the sound was good, but we were both suprised at how well it sounded and played, it is now her favorite guitar. The sound is rich and projects well. There is no problem keeping it in tune (after the initial string stretching) and she has even had to learn to project her voice more when singing, as the guitar is louder than her other one.

Overall we are very happy with this purchase. One thing you may want, if you are a higher level guitar player is diffrent strings, but even the strings that come with it are decent low-end strings that do not lose their tune.

This guitar is more than perfect for a beginner, or even an advanced player who wants something nice to "kick around" with.

Purchased this for my adult daughter and I was surprised at how nice the guitar is. Nice tone and good construction. Came with gig bag, pics, strap, tuner AND an extra set of strings. She was very happy to get a Fender and for the money, I can't complain at all. It came on time and though I was worried UPS would bang it up, it arrived without a scratch. The package arrived unharmed, no issues with shipping damage. The guitar sounds great, but I'm a beginner so what do I know? The guitar I received had two buttons for where the straps would attach, but the strap had only one button hole, the other end was a shoe-string to tie on the neck above the first fret (bridge?). Some people may not like this setup but I don't mind it at all now.

The tuner is really nice; it has a couple modes for different instruments, or a simple chromatic scale mode for non-standard tunings. The picks are a nice touch to the bundle.

I also bought a stand while I had the free shipping available.

Overall a great buy.

My 5-year-old kept a science journal this past summer. She did an experiment once or twice a week as part of her lessons. The items in this kid are simple (don't expect anything intricate), but they're perfect for the younger crowd. They take less than 10 minutes to do. To get more value from them, my kid drew pictures in her journal (I wrote the question at the top, she labeled the parts of her drawing), and I wrote the answer at the bottom of the page when the experiment was over. An independent review...This is what I consider to be the best program I have found for my twin 3 year olds to date. It will keep them from messing up their computer operating system. I have a computer set up exclusively for them and this is where I think the product stands out. You don't even need to monitor. The kids will be exposed to all sorts of educational games/web sites etc. (Kind of a baby sitter, not that I am promoting hours of computer use.) Recommend a high speed connection. If the kids share your computer and you start their games or look up web sites for them, you may not need this product. I think the user interface could use some work and the desktop could be more efficiently used but that said, the company is off to a great start into an area of software that was badly needed!

I believe in keeping a child curious and creating challenges for them to learn from-the Kidview Explorer allows both my young boys to explore in todays internet world. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I picked this product for my one year old grandson as he loves trucks. We took it out of the box and started it into the gyrations that it can do. Great fun! My grandson was entranced. His eyes never left the truck and he was laughing and couldn't wait to take it out for a spin. The truck engages the child with banter and interactive requests for which it coordinates sounds and gymnastics. I really like this product and rate it very high. I rated it a four star because, the toy has a more limited set of "events" than a $50 item should have in my opinion. What it does, it does very well.

However, this is my CAUTION: Do not let a younger child handle this toy by themselves. My grandson loves to drive his trucks around the house. When you push this truck from behind, there is no stability and this is necessary for the truck to do its flips and such. But for the little one pushing, the truck flips into their face and "bang" a cut lip. We put the truck away for another 6 months to see how he can do with it later. This is not the fault of the vehicle or the manufacturer. It was our fault for not realizing why the age limit was set.

I think that with a couple of more months of walking under his belt, he will be able to play with this truck again. Until the little accident, we thought that we had a tremendous winner for our youngster. I still think that we have a winner, but we will have to wait just a little longer for those smiles.

He just loves the way Chuck moves, talks, tumbles and he can fill his truck up, too. He's pretty cool, actually. He says a ton of phrases and sings! Lucas likes to sing along with him and I find it impressive that he sings faster the faster he moves, neat trick! Lucas loves that he somersaults and flips all around, so of course, being a boy, keeps trying to find ways to put Chuck into predicaments he CAN'T get out of, but he has yet to trick him! That's right. I bribed my way into my grandson's affection. He LOVES this truck. He's been into dumptrucks for a time now. His second birthday featured dumptrucks on his cake so I thought this would be a winner and I was right.

When I was a child, I played with Tonka trucks made out of durable steel. They came in all sizes. In fact, my parents still have them. They have been stored in their home's attic. When I grew older, I played with remote control toys, mostly race cars. I lost interest in them about twenty-five years ago when I moved to Chesapeake, Virginia. I was excited to receive from the Amazon Vine Program the Tumblin' Chuck from Tonka. I was glad to learn the child in me had never died; he had only become dormant for a little time.

Tumblin' Chuck arrived with demo batteries already installed. However, you may want to put fresh ones in before giving him as a gift because mine weakened quickly with use. I was thrilled to put Tumblin' Chuck through all his moves. (Please watch the short video that I made with my Apple iPhone 4.) He performs the best when he is played with on a hard, flat surface such as the tennis court where I filmed him. He constantly failed to correctly perform his somersaults when I operated him on my apartment's shag carpet and kept asking for my help to upright him.

I think Tumblin' Chuck is adorable and easy to operate. I scanned his operating instructions into my computer, including the instructions for replacing batteries, and posted them to Amazon's website. A close friend of mine, Amy, works at Tiny Tikes Daycare Center. I allowed her children to play with Tumblin' Chuck. She told me most all of the children, including the girls, enjoyed playing with him. The girls thought he was cute. He has a sweet voice (one whose volume cannot be decreased or increased) that matches his face, giving him an unique personality. I expected Tumblin' Chuck to be severely damaged when Amy returned it to me but he still appeared relatively new, except for a few scuff marks on the face.

If your child enjoys playing with dump trucks, then I recommend Tonka's interactive Tumblin' Chuck. It is durable and fun. I especially enjoyed watching him perform his somersaults and "exercises"--push-ups, sit-ups and jumping jacks. Perhaps Tumblin' Chuck will be a good role model for children when it comes to exercising. I received a workout just pushing him across the tennis court and chasing after him with my iPhone. The neighbors must've thought I was crazy. One couple came to play tennis and I was having so much fun that I didn't notice their arrival. After apologizing, I explained to them that I was conducting a review on Tumblin' Chuck for Amazon.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have a love, hate relationship with Tumblin' Chuck. My kids love him. So much so, that they routinely fight over their turn with him. The voice and music is annoying, to the point were I don't want to be in the room while the kids play with him even when they aren't fighting over him. And at 3 and 5 years old, the kids can't fully grasp how to make the truck flip over when they want it to.

That said, this truck is extremely durable. It has been thrown down slides and staircases without injury. The kids have attempted to ride it and it still runs well.

While I'm not a fan of this toy at all, it can survive my children and it makes them happy and will probably appeal to other kids their ages.

My mom bought this for my son at 18 months and he LOVES it. The entire set is excellent quality and comes in a nice wooden crate (we use the crate for arts & crafts). My son is now a very accomplished Harmonica & flute player (he's now only 19 months) he can't get enough of these instruments. One thing to look out for though -the tip of the stick that you use for the xlyphone came off and I found my son eating it it is definitely a choking hazard I just took the stick away and tossed it in the garbage and he uses one of the other thick wooden sticks to play the xylophone and he hasn't missed a beat!

****UPDATE**** 5/8/08

It is now almost 3 years later and my son still plays with all of the instruments in this set. Looking back at all the toys we bought or he received as gifts, this is still one of his favorites and has helped foster his interest in music. I STILL highly recommend this set!!

I bought this for my 4-year old daughter's birthday because she really wanted a xylophone and this is the only one that I could find! The xylophone is, by far, the worst instrument in the whole set. The notes are way off tune and the sound is muffled.

Her favorite piece is the harmonica, which is pretty nice. The rest of the instruments are okay, but avoid this product of you are looking for a nice xylophone.

Modern toys are often "noisy".... they beep, they buzz, they play stupid songs and they provide little educational value. This great instrument set will provide kids with the "noise-making" that they crave, but with the educational value of actually making the noise on real instruments!

Parents, too, will have a hard time resisting the allure of these super-fun instruments. Your kids will be dingin' away on the triangle while you shake your thing with the maracas.... it'll provide interactive and fun play for years! Get some good CDs to accompany this set, while you're at it. A fun African CD (like Amadou and Mariam's "Dimanche a Bamako") will do the trick nicely, as most of these instruments are rhythm instruments that will fit in nicely with that highly rhythmic music.

This musical set was originally intended as a Christmas purchase, but I could not resist giving this as an early present. When it arrived in the mail, we opened it immediatly. I was pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity represented in this set. We are already having such a great time using these instruments! The kazoo is a favorite! With so much variety to choose from, our little dancer may never stop playing. I love the quality workmanship and the cultural span of the various instruments. Our 2-year-old loves marching in "parades", dancing and singing to the beat of favorite songs. This colorful set inspires get-up-and-dance energy for both adult and child! My son suggested that I buy this for my 2 3/4 year old granddaughter for Christmas. I was very disappointed with it. The xylophone, which really ought to be the main music maker was awful. It should have been made of metal and should have been capable of playing a scale (the key of C Major). But then the recorder was terrible too. You can't play a tune on it either. The little plastic recorders for around $4 or $5 that the kids in elementary school use can at least make music. This can't. And the kazoo broke. The other parts were fine. Percussion is percussion. If it were my choice, I would return it. My son seems to think it's satisfactory "good enough for a 2 year old." I don't agree. Had I seen it first, I wouldn't have bought it.

This book is more appropriate for 3rd grade, in my opinion. If you have an inclusion class or special needs/tier 2 or 3 students, it would be okay for 4th grade. The file folder games are fun and good review on basic skills. It is worth the money.

LeapFrog My First LeapPad Alphabet Bus Reviews

We bought the original "My First LeapPad" in blue for our son when he had just turned 2. The new BUS design is good for both boys and girls and has extra features that the original pink or blue ones don't have. I recommend letting your child play with a friend's LeapPad to see whether or not they like it and are willing to sit still and concentrate on it. Some kids may not be ready for it until 3 years old or older, while some kids catch on at 2. We got The Wiggles book to go with my son's LeapPad and we couldn't tear him away from it. We had to show him how to do some things at first but after a few weeks he was on his own. One thing I recommend is to turn the LeapPad on and then hand it to your child. I have known several children who get too enamoured in the whole on-off-on-off thing at a young age and miss the whole point of the Pad. After a while they will be able to manage that aspect too. We know of 2 other toddlers who do not care for this toy (one is 2 and one is 3 years old), however my son absolutely loves it. He is now 2 1/2 and has several books and is not only entertained for a LONG time by the My First LeapPad but he learns things from it constantly. I am impressed. We recommend the LeapFrog phonics bus and Fridge Phonics as well--they worked for us. The My First LeapPad helped make our cross-country drive with a 2 year old much more peaceful than I'd anticipated. A few new books to go on it and we had hours of back-seat entertainment. I would buy this toy, especially with the new BUS features, again in a heartbeat.

We have the previous version of My First Leapad and have had some problems with it until the latest one we recently received from the Leap Frog company. I bought the first one on sale at Target and my son only played with it 2 times and the pen stopped working. The Leap Frog Co sent me a new pen and it still did not work so they mailed me a new Leappad (very fast shipping). My son was playing with the 2nd one and whenever my little girl would just barely touch it, it would turn off until it would not turn on at all. I called the company again and they sent me another leappad immediatly (they paid for the shipping return of the second one I had to send back). We are now on our third leappad and have had no problems thus far. My kids (ages almost 3 1/2 and 2)are not as interested in it as I had hoped they would be though. They are both extremely active and it does not hold their attention very well. They play with it a couple of times a week for about 5-10 minutes. Most of the time they ignore the prompting the leappad gives to touch the pen to certain pictures. They just like to tap the pen on all the pictures. My 3 year old is starting to pay attention to the prompting but it does not hold his attention for very long.

I got this for my daughter at 28 months, which is under the age recommended. At first, she didn't seem all that interested in the LeapPad..... I think I liked it more than her. I worried that I'd given it to her too soon. I tried reading the stories with my daughter and demonstrating how to use the magic pen (I don't know if that's really what it's called, but my daughter likes it). Eventually, she caught on that one has to push the "GO" circle for every page..... but she still didn't seem to care much for the LeapPad and didn't play with it by herself.

About a week ago, though, I found her playing with it alone. She'd gotten the LeapPad out of the backpack on her own, picked a book ("I Know My ABCs"), inserted the cartridge, and was using it properly.... and appeared to be having a great time.

Since then, I have found her reading/playing with it several times. I suspect this is going to be a great toy to have around for traveling and/or other times when she is playing independently.

One reviewer wrote that it's better to read to your children than to use the LeapPad, which I agree with if you have to pick one or the other. I read aloud to my children several times a day and they prefer this to the LeapPad, but I think the LeapPad is great for teaching early reading and number skills in a fun way. It took a little time (figuring out how to insert the books & cartridges and using the pen), but I think the LeapPad has been a worthwhile purchase.

My family and I have purchased Leap Frog products since my (now 4-year-old) son was born. The My First LeapPad has been the only product where I've kicked myself. Although the product is great and has entertained my son since he was about 2 1/2, we have had constant problems with the cartridges. Half the time (at least) we put them in, they say, "Whoops! That's not a LeapPad cartridge!" It happened a lot with the first one we purchased and, thinking it was a fluke since we've never had problems with Leap Frog products before, we exhanged it about three months later (too late to return it) we had the same problem. We have bought about five or six of the books and the problem comes up with each one.

I purchased this product for my 4-year old daughter who became bored with it quickly, but my 2-year old son just loves it. Unfortunately, the stylus pen quit working in under 2 months of purchasing it, rendering it useless and frustrating my son. I am attempting to get a replacement pen through the company but I'm not sure if that will fix the problem and the fact that it quit working so quickly makes me feel like it isn't a high quality product. The fact that they have to sell replacement pens means they didn't make it to last
