Bought this as a study tool for class, and as a student did not have much to spend on it. It does the trick of allowing me to study most of the large structures of the spine, however it does have some issues. The spinal nerves are not in place well and tend to fall out randomly, the spine is not able to hold its curves, although it is flexible, it will not stay when you bend it, important features that I need to know are not even on the vertebra. So, all in all, it was cheap and allows me to study most things, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, or purchase it again.

I bought this for a colleague after she commented repeatedly on how much she liked the full size high quality model of the spine that I have in my office. Since I'd intended the purchase mostly as a joke, this served the purpose well. It is close enough to anatomical accuracy to demonstrate some very simple concepts and it does fit nicely on a desk. However, the construction of and connection between the vertebrae makes it impossible to position the spine with a normal curvature so it ends up looking like a stack of vertebrae hanging from a string with a pelvis at the bottom. Also, the spinal nerves are cheap plastic with "flaps" hanging along the seams, I assume from the plastic molding process. Overall, this is quite suitable as a novelty or a toy.

This is an amazing product for teaching kids to follow directions, storytelling and so much more. First off the barrier is a plastic stand that allows you to put one of the five different game boards on each side. From there kids can either be creative with the pieces or you can give them directions on where to put them, such as "Put the XXX on top of the XXX." My boys are terrible at following directions and I have been having them each work on a side to see who can get everything right. There is competition between them to see who can follow the directions the best and they think its silly! My 2 year old loves to just put the pieces all over but I will be working with her on it. There are a total of 100 magnetic pieces which you can mix and match! When they are all done, everything fits inside the bag which I absolutely love! The barrier even comes with a bigger bag to fit both the barrier and the game boards with pieces.

Besides using the game boards, kids can also use the MagneTalk Barrier as a dry erase tabletop easel or just magnetic board in general. For the price of $90 for the Barrier and the Match-up Adventures Kit is a great deal and the possibilities are endless for kids! My kids (6, 5, and 2) have done so much with it already and I know they have only scratched the surface with activities. Since its a tabletop easel you can even use it for practicing homework with the dry erase board and a marker!

Discovery Kids Interactive Spark Talking Globe Reviews

Our kids got this as a gift and we figured it would be educational but we didn't realize how much they would enjoy it. It is interactive enough that it holds their attention and they have learned a whole lot from playing with it. It is easy for them to operate on their own, and we love that it has different volume settings (and even a headphone jack!). It is very 'hands on' in that they touch a country/region, see where it is in the world, and then get to learn about it. And of course they love the fact that they can teach us what they learned. Oh, and it shuts itself off after a period of inactivity, so no worrying about someone leaving the toy on and running the batteries down. When other families have come over and seen the globe, most agree that it's one of the best ones they've seen. I definitely give this globe a thumbs up!!!

The set comes with a variety of building parts, three motors and a touch pad remote. I would recommend this set to any parent who has a child interested in construction and science. This set will not only entertain your child, but foster their imagination and creativity as well.

Our 10-year old grandson really enjoyed this birthday present. He built several models and played with it throughout our entire 1 1/2 day visit. He commented that he really liked the 3 motors and the remote control, a key reason why we picked this for him. He had no trouble following the pictorial building directions on his own, but hadn't shown any particular interest in the explanatory learning material (like how gears work) while we were there.

I was disappointed that the robotic arm was almost too heavy for the motor to lift. Several times the lift mechanism came apart when trying to lift the arm from a full-down position, and the motor really strained when lifting it. I think a counter-balance on the arm would solve this problem. It worked fine otherwise, but had limited function as a stationary unit (he didn't notice). I think it could be significantly improved by adding drive and steering capabilities.

Same for the crane. Drive and steering capabilities would be a major improvement here too. This limitation might reduce the long-term interest in some of the models.

Otherwise, a good construction/learning toy we'd buy again!

This is a nice educational kit. I gave it to my 10 year old daughter recently. It uses plastic parts and plastic gears and snap-on parts. No screws or bolts are used. This has the advantage of being simple to build but the disadvantage that machines do not work well. The cars are fine but things that use lots of gears and specially those that put stress on gears tend to fail. The Robotic Arm is a good example. The gears that lift the arm up and down too flimsy to handle the weight of the fully extended arms. I was initially disappointed but then realized this is a good opportunity to teach my daughter how things break. It demonstrates the principle of levers very well. Because the gears handle the arm when the hands are pulled in but fail when the hands are extended. If I reinforce the gears buy holding them tight with my hands I can show how to compensate for the additional strain. So while the arm is not practical as a robotic arm it is very practical as a tool to show how they work and where the stress points are.

My 8yr old loves LEGOS, robots, remote control items, and building things so I thought this would go over well. However, it only was played with for about an hour. He put together two of the templates rather quickly and moved on to other things and has not played with it since.

I tinkered around with it myself and I think the issue is LEGO owners have different expectations. This kit is not intuitive as to how things attach and fit together. There are also limitations on how you can assemble your own creations since some pieces need secondary connectors and you are limited by both quantity of connectors and where they fit.

If you kid is an advanced LEGO fan, use the money towards the motors and controlers that LEGO supplies and you will have much more possibilities.

This was one of several toys my 9 year old received for Christmas and it is by far the most played with. In fact it is one of the best 'toys' I have purchased and am surprised why this one isn't more popular than it is. Its educational value surpasses any toy on the market today we have a lot of the popular engineering toysSnap Circuits, K-nex, Lego, but this one combined with the remote control is beyond wordsI am talking education meets excitement! It is undoubtedly quite time-consuming, each model taking anywhere from 20 min to 2 hours to build so if its not for an extremely science inclined child, don't bother, otherwise its because of that very element of complexity that it is great.

We just downloaded the toy story 3 tag junior book. I am a little bummed about the audio. The only voices in the book are Woody, Buzz, and the aliens. They have pictures of all of the characters but when you place the wand on them they just play music. I would have liked it more if there were more interactions with the other characters like Jessie, Ham, or the slinky dog. The book is also "read" by Bonnie and her voice is the same as the movie but on the loud setting is a bit overpowering. All in all I like the book the aliens seem to be the main focus point with the most interactions and they are adorable. Glad I bought it at this point in enjoy it more than my daughter!

I bought this book at USD1.99 this is the lowest price I can find. When I checked out few days after the price went up to USD7.99. I feel lucky to have this book at such a low price. My boy is 18M and he loves woody! We read this book every night before getting into bed.

In general, all tag junior books are great. They are all board books which prevents tods from tearing the pages. The pages seems harder to flip in the beginning.

One good suggestion is, when you buy the tag junior, I bought the pen version (tag), instead of the snowman version (tag jr). The pen has larger storage and it could be used with the tag books.

These systems are get fun and learning tools. I wish they had something like this when I was a kid, instead of flash cards and that stupid cursive writing paper that we spend hours with trying to stay between the lines.

The coolest thing is that kids act like it's a game, so learning is actually fun. Instead of popping in a video for them to watch over and over and over and over again, these provide entertainment that teaches them something.

We have gone through several of the Leapfrog Tag Junior Books (ages 12 months 4 years ) and now are getting the LeapFrog LeapReader (4-8 years), and Mr. Pencil stylus and writing (Ages 3-6 ) kits.

Along the way we also got the Leapfrog Counting Candles Birthday Cake and the LeapFrog Creativity Camera. Both were big hits. You do however have to be able to live without you iPhone for a while, since the LeapFrog Creativity Camera is just a case for the iPhone.

All the LeapFrog products are made to last. They are very durable and can take drops, kicks, slobber, food, and tosses.

Over all I find the LeapFrog product line a great investment every time we get a new one.

I bought this toy for my son thinking that there was a girl and a boy bear but they are both girls. He likes playing with it and plays with it for 20 minutes or so at a time several times a day. It has really helped him to understand where the different pieces of clothing go and he enjoys putting together matching sets. I looked at several of these that were designed more towards boys but thought this one would be the best value for the money. The magnets are strong and the clothes stay on the bears even when holding them upright. I really like the wooden box they come in which makes it easier to keep all the small pieces together. It is somewhat tight getting the lid on and off of the box and my son cannot do it by himself. Overall it was a good buy and I will store it if my son gets bored of it for my infant daughter to play with when she's older. The only complaint is that the box it came in does not look the same as the one in the picture. It has fewer compartments and they are all one of two sizes.

My daughter is much more into animal toys than dolls and loves dress up/costumes so I thought this would be perfect for her. She likes it, but I wish there were a couple of more bears so there would be more characters to play with once they are dressed up in their costumes. She likes this, but it doesn't really keep her attention very long I think for that reason. She just turned three so I'm hoping as she gets a bit older, it might hold her attention longer, that's why I gave it 4 stars rather than 3. For what it is worth, I love that the wooden box has a sliding lid much more practical than the Melissa & Doug puzzles we have that have no covering.

This is a very sturdy map and comes with a legend. Children can find something of interest on the legend, then go to the map and find out what countries or country it corresponds to. It also has the planets (but it includes demoted Pluto, which is now considered a dwarf planet). It shows examples of cloud formations in the upper left. It staples quite well to the wall. The gromlets were useless to me, however, but were not needed (perhaps if I'd positioned them over studs). I stapled the legend right next to the map and it's a great conversation piece for kids and parents.

I simply love this beautiful map! I bought it for my 3 and my 5 year old children. My child does not read yet. I am glad I got this visually simpler map instead of a more adult version with busy words. The cartoon legends on the map make her want to ask and to learn world geography. I place the map on the wall by the entrance to the kitchen. On the way in or out of kitchen, we enjoy lingering and talking about kangaroos in Australia, diamonds in South Africa, pandas in China and so forth. It is sturdy, richly colorful, a wonderful conversation piece with children (added bonus: seven wonders of the world, biomes, cloud formations, planets) Eeboo products are simply a joy to behold.

Great map. All our family lives around the globe so I put this above my son's bed so he can see where they are when we have bedtime prayers. It's a great way to teach kids about geography, and to feel close to others though we are far apart. It goes onto the wall very easily and looks very nice. I just have to make sure his one year old sister doesn't tug at it, but it's lasting up there nicely nevertheless.

This map was exactly what we wanted, it is fun to watch at so the kids are interested (4 and 6) and teach them easily great knowledge about the different countries showing images of what each countries has. The only critic is that it is a bit difficult to put on the wall. I tried little nails and it didnt work so I used that sticky paste and it did work.

I bought this for a little girl's first birthdaymy 3 yr old saw it and played with it for days leading up to the party. I was surprised she would like it bc it is a "baby" toy. She loved watching the little faces pop in and out. Sometimes she was "vacuuming", other times she was "mowing"... great for imagination! The toy is simple, but that is why it was so perfect!

Two potential drawbacks: it is noisy on non-carpeted floors, and it is wood, so if your kid likes to swing things around...watch out! I am more than willing to work around those drawbacks though and will be back to purchase another one of these once my baby learns how to walk!

GOOD: I just purchased this item for my daughter and she loves it. I have only had this item for about 3 days now and she gets excited every time she sees me pick up the lamb. She is not quiet 3 months, yet she kicks her legs, waves her arms, and giggles the entire time the DVD OR the CD is playing. It really does manage to keep her attention the entire time it is playing. I especially like how the good-bye song at the end is so soothing. It puts her to sleep every time, so it is perfect for right before nap time. I would recommend this to any parent with a little one who needs just a few minutes to distract them. Gives you enough time to actually have some lunch yourself or even prepare dinner.

BAD: Although my daughter seems to adore it, a friend of mine's son is really frightened of the lamb. He likes the DVD just fine. However, ever since the lamb talked for the first time, he is really freaked out by it. He can not even look at it when it is turned off and not talking to or blinking at him. If possible, you may want to expose your child to the animal before you buy it, just in case.

This is my first review so bare with me...I bought this for my 8 month old and she drags it everywhere!! She laughs when the doll laughs its soo cute. She tries to have little conversations with the doll. When we are in the car she just holds on, talks, and squeezes until she fall asleep. I have not had any problems with this toy yet, but will try and keep you up to date. For now I recommend it. We will be buying the dog and cow for Christmas.

I was so excited to get this new product for my 3 1/2 month old after reading so much about it. After we put in the batteries and played the DVD, I saw the "magic" happen. Of course, it was cute with the interaction between the stuffed animal and the DVD while it was playing, but here's the bad part. All the animals have a bellybutton where it transmits/receives the audio for it to interact with the DVD, but it is this very annoying, even blinding LED blue light. How can we even stare at the animal without getting blinded by the light? Not to mention, a baby's sensitive eye. The animal only says a few phrases that correspond to parts of the DVD, which I understand is all that is necessary for a 3-12 month old. The voice of the animal is rather frightful motherese tone, which was not soothing for babies. Don't get me wrong, my baby was staring at her new "friend", but she did wail at the beginning. Overall, I thought the product was not bad, but the reason I gave it such a low score was because of the bright LED light that makes it impossible to stare at the toy and the DVD content. After finishing the entire DVD the first time, I boxed the product back up and returned it the next day. For a product that is geared for babies starting at 3+ months, it needs more music. I think I'll be sticking to the Baby Einstein series because they actually get it right the first time. Don't waste your money on this product unless you want your baby to be blinded by the adorable little lamb.

This was given to my daughter as a Christmas gift when she was 4 months old. She absolutely loves this DVD. The only bad or annoying thing about the doll is that I can't always get it to work. You have to hold the doll in front of the TV speakers and it's supposed to sync up. Our doll just blinks instead of syncing so my daughter watches the video without the doll and enjoys it just as much. She especially loves when her adorable friends play "peek-a-boo" with her. She giggles the whole time.

The doll is definitely a great interactive toy but the DVD by itself is amazing too. My daughter holds onto the lamb while she watches and pushes his belly button.

I highly recommend this toy.

As a chemical engineer and a parent, it is extremely important to me to balance product safety and responsible manufacturing. Furthermore, I want to invest in toys that will survive not only my daughter, but any other children or grandchildren that I may be blessed with. Few toys are more durable than wooden ones; fewer still foster an imagination. "Plan Toys" meet stringent US and international safety guidelines and are made from rubber trees that no longer yield latex. I bought this item for my one-year-old, and while I admit she's under the age range for this toy, she's fine using it under supervision. (Very determined fingers can pull off the metal keys, but these are easily pushed back into place with no harm done.) There is a version of this by the same company for her age group (Plan Toy Oval Xylophone), but it lacks the song sheets for when she's older. Regardless of which one you choose, this is great for starting kids out on "music" by teaching small ears that there are other sounds to be made than just banging on the wall.

I've looked at several schduling pockets and picked this one. Things I like about this prodcut:

Overall simple and clean look

Pocket cards have 3 sections: digital time, analog time, and activity

Plenty of pockets (14) plus a storage area at the bottom for unused cards

Plenty of blank cards that can be customized

I use it at home to schedule my son's after school hours: free time, reading, homework, piano practice, chores, bedtime reading, and bedtime. After luminating all the cards, I used a dry eraser pen to write on, and hung it on the refrigerator. Now I can easily erase/change the time or activity on each card and change the order of cards.

An instrcution sheet that comes with the pocket gives suggestions of other usages of the pocket by making your own cards, such as teaching sequence of sentences, displaying grammer rules, displaying goals/stages of a project, etc. I want to teach my children Chinese and am thiking of using it to display Chinese characters.

This pocket chart really saves me a lot of time. Each day, I just switch in/out different activities and times, which only takes about a minute. It can get very crowded with the time, clock, and activity on one strip, so I don't use the analog clock (it's too small to see from far away anyways). I cut out the digital time and space each time about an inch from the corresponding activities (whose times change every day anyways). I would suggest that you do the same if you don't like clutter or if your schedule changes a lot from day to day.
