My 9 year old son got this for Christmas. He had requested a "science set", so this was Santa's interpretation. I was a little scared that it was going to be a flop or that it was not going to be what he was thinking, but he loves it! We were mixing up slime on Christams morning! The directions are very easy to follow. Everything you need is in the kit. There are alternative directions for mixing one of the main ingredients that you use for all the slimes that calls for rubbing alcohol, but other than that, it has it all. Everything is clearly labeled. So far we've made the magnetic slime and the color changing slime and I've been very impressed. Very fun,easy and educational.

This is easily the coolest thing ever. Hours of fun and experimentation and if done correctly and you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, you will yield wonderful results. My son now has several jars of fun slime that is not sticky or runny, as one reviewer claimed. I even googled the ingredients which by the way, you can buy cheap online, so my budding scientist can continue using these recipes again and again. Great product! Great times. Five stars!

Bought this for our 9 year old for Christmas. He's a real science wiz, so he loves it! It was fun for him to see the mixture of the two chemicals thicken into the slime. So far we've made the proto plasmic and the thermo cromatic varieties--the thermo or color changing slime is a bit tricky--it must get quite warm in order to change color, so do not be discouraged if it doesn't change right away. We stuck ours next to the exhaust fan on my laptop, and that was enough to see the color start to change. As a tip, I recommend the second method for creating the guar gum solution, it was quick and easy.

As both a middle and high school science teacher, I found this Weather Forecasting VideoLab very appropriate for all 7 through 12 grade levels. The student and teacher instructions are clearly written. The video is closely aligned with the labs. Both pre and post tests make accountability easy. Lab stations are easy to set up and follow and each lab station includes answer sheets which helps with keeping sudents on task.

This product aligns nicely with National Science Standards and would stand alone for your Earth Science weather unit. It's definitely a fun "hands on" means to understanding basic topics in meteorology.

This book has some VERY bad content and lesson. We were very disappointed at some of the concepts that are in this book that are presented without significant resolution including peer pressure, taunting, etc.

There are much better Leapfrog books to buy than this one.

This is a wonderful Tag book for the Cars lover. My 4-year-old received the Tag system and this book for his birthday in July. He absolutely loves it!

He's read it so much that as soon as he turns the page, he shouts out "Frank's coming!" or makes the sound effects of the characters. He tells me what's happening before even putting the pen to the book now. And I can see improvement by hooking the pen up to my computer it tells you which questions he answered correctly and how long he's read the book.

My son loves everything Cars, so this was a great fit.

I would suggest having a talk with your child about how to treat books before leaving him/her alone to play. We did have one casualty a ripped page. But now I've talked to my son about how to care for books and I'm hoping the rest of the pages stay in tact.

I would definitely recommend this book if you have the Tag Reader system.

The games in the book were fun and educational which was the only positive thing about this book.

My 4 year old son loves the movie "Cars" and loves this book as well. He started using his Tag Reader almost as soon as he unwrapped it at Christmas. He has 4 books so far, but this is his favorite. Great for boys or girls.

Great for kids who need incentive in the form of their favorite characters in order to read.

The Tag function is a helpful teaching tool. Anything geared at this age group has to be durable, though.

After a while, the edges will become frayed. A sure sign of love!

I was having a hard time finding a gift for my 5 month old grandson because so much is passed down from his older sister, and I think a lot of what is found in stores is nothing special. I remembered that a neighbor had given his sister Safari Gears from Discovery Toys and she just loved it, so I decided to see what other things Discovery Toys offered. The Go Go Caterpillar had great reviews so that's what I went with -and no regrets! The 5 month old loves it now and it is something he can still play with as he grows. His 2 1/2 year old sister also liked playing with it. Construction and quality seem first-rate too.

My children, a 13 month old and a 32 month old, and admittedly, myself, LOVE this adorable little frog! The eldest received this toy for Christmas last year, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical looking at it in the packaging. So many electronic toys can be too loud, too tin-y sounding, and just overall annoying. Not this little guy. I find the volume to be an acceptable level, the voice is amazingly clear and easy to understand, and cute to boot. At less than 3 years old my daughter can sing the entire alphabet from start to finish without prompting thanks to Little Leap. I was going to detail all of the games that Little Leap can play, but as I took it out to inspect it, the 13 month old came over and grabbed it out of my hands so he could play with it! =) One of the most fought over toys in my house, and provides long periods of educational entertainment. Highly recommend for children ages 1-6 because it is cute and fun enough to catch the attention of a young child, but some of the games are advanced enough to hold the attention of an older child. Since receiving this toy, I have branched out to other Leap Frog toys for my children, and I have to say I recommend the whole line!

I havem mixed feelings regarding this toy.

First the positive:

First it is educational. It provides the letters, phonic sounds and numbers. It also has the double sounds of the vowels. It has games that you can play that reinforce the learning. It is very cute. It sings songs. Both of my older children (age 4 and 2) enjoy this toy. It turns itself off with no use. This toy is really not very loud.

The not so positive:

It is not the clearest voice and sometimes I have a hard time understanding the letters. My son does not though. It also takes very little for it to come on, if you just bump one of the litle buttons, it comes on.

I'd say overall, that this is a quality toy that lives up to the Leap Frog name.

I look for toys that are fun and easy to play with. I look for toys that have more than a button to push to make a sound. I look for toys that are not too loud. I look for toys that encourage exploration of the world and encourage creativity.

Although this toy does not meet all of these requirements, it is a fun toy. It is one I would probably buy again.

Little Leap is not only cute but offers educational entertainment for our little ones. The nice part about this toy is that the older your child gets the more interesting Little Leap becomes. At three and a half our youngest still keeps Little Leap in active play which prevents him from moving to the bottom of the stuffed animal bin. Little Leap is great for car trips and we soometimes catch our six year old interacting with Little Leap.

This toy is definately not a waste of money. It is played with more than it is ignored. We are very satisfied with Little Leap and our children are too!

My in-laws gave this toy to my son for Christmas when he was 19 months old. I thought he was a little young, but he did enjoy pushing all the buttons and making the frog sing.

To my amazement, this toy taught him all the letters of the alphabet well before he turned 2. After just a few months of playing with this toy, he could correctly point to any letter I named ("Where is X") and correctly name any letter I pointed to ("What is this?").

The song to teach each letter is the same, so to an adult the singing is rather repetitious. But this doesn't seem to bother children. After several months of play, a couple of the letters became hard to push, but that bothered me more than it did my son.

I was impressed with how effectively an electronic toy could teach such a young child. I never set out to teach my son the alphabet so early, he learned it all on his own by interacting with this toy.

Yes, I love toys that teach and I love this toy. Kids love music and songs and I think that that's the best way to teach. Froggie sings some catchy tunes while he teaches so the knowledge sticks. It also has a wonderful interactive feature that teaches while playing games. A nice response comes with a correct answer.

Unfortunately the durabilty of this toy is poor. Don't hit the buttons hard enough and you won't get a response. Too hard and the toy can break. There is just too narrow a range between the two points. Still, it's an inexpensive toy so I don't mind having bought a second one.

I purchased this item in September as a Christmas present for my son. When it was opened last Christmas it didn't work, number dials don't respond and constantly responds as though dials are always set to 8 and 2. Inserting fresh batteries made no difference. If you purchase this product I would suggest opening it right away as the manufacturer warranty is good for only 3 months from the purchase date.

My 5 and a half year old son just loves this. We bought it for him for Christmas and he loves it .....A lot of people say that it is loud but it really isn't it does have a volume control right beside the display of the number!

This is excellent for learning! He will be getting the subtraction one for his birthday in Feb.

My twin six year old daughters fight over playing with this handheld game and within a day they have learned the basic facts for 0, 1,2, and doubles. They've even challenged themselves with the lightning round and have gotten at least 8 points out of that!

My son received the Twist & Shout Addition several months ago after he turned four. It really made him interested in learning how to add and his step-grandpa who is a teacher was really impressed with his mathematical ability!

I got a version that has volume control (it actually has three volume settings) and headphones can be plugged in as well, so noise isn't much of an issue with it. It has a feature where you turn the dials to add any two numbers and it will give you the answer. I was afraid that my son wouldn't learn how to add, that he will just memorize the answers but what happened was that he was curious as to how the answers came about, so he asked to learn how to add! He's still only four and he can add pretty well, he can add up to the twenties!

I recommend this product over uneducational toys that don't encourage thinking and/or creativity.

This entertains my 6 month old because it plays a melody and the top half moves from side to side. Unfortunately it lasts only about 15 seconds so you have to constantly press the feet for the music to turn on again. We don't use it much now because its annoying to constantly press it for the music to turn on, but perhaps later on down the road she'll learn to press the feet herself to turn it on. Also, it only plays one melody (with giggling) and there is no adjustment in volume. I give it 3 stars for now and will update if my child plays with it more in the near future.

This little dancing ant gets my little dancing boy moving too. He really likes this toy. It is a very simple little toy, push his foot and he moves back and forth and plays music for a short period of time, but it's perfect for a short attention span. It is cute and a good size for little hands (my son is 11 months old)...he grabs Antsy by the antenna and drags him around. I definitely recommend this little guy!

This kit offers a great introduction to dinosaurs for little boys. The six glow-in-the-dark dinosaurs roam our Lego landscapes, scale the sofa and are frequently "contraband" at bedtime -our boys love how these dinosaur skeletons glow.

The folding dinorama has plenty of information for beginners and intermediate learners. The ilustrations are colorful, too. We bought this for our 4-year old and 5-year old boys. While we spend more time practicing our dinosaur roars now, the kit has plenty to offer to keep it interesting as they grow older.

I work in a middle school as a math resource teacher, so I mainly work with strengthening basic math facts. This game is great b/c there are enough boards for a whole class, and the cards are double sided so that you can choose between two different games. Best Stellanova Levitating & Rotating 6" Moon Globe & Voyager 1 Space Deals

Kind of tricky getting it to levitate. Requires the power to be on for levitation, if the power is turned off there's a magnet in the base that should catch the globe, preventing it from rolling off your desk. Draws 4 watts, so around thirty-five cents per month in electricity usage to keep it levitating. Good detail on the moon's surface as it's printed in Germany (though made in China of course). If you start it spinning, it'll continue rotating for perhaps fifteen minutes at most before stopping.

Pretty good, and apparently the electronically controlled electromagnet underneath the spacecraft helps it continue rotating, but setting it up in several locations it NEVER spins continuously as advertised. I now have it the globe surface coated with thin fluorescent paint, accented with black lights, with a foot switch to control the lights plus a hidden mini-fan carefully positioned to make it spin. BTW, with the fan it spins at probably 50RPM, and even at that speed the electromagnetic mechanism always keeps the globe levitating, which is quite impressive.

Was looking for a lunar globe in particular, but wasn't sure about this one. The Voyager spacecraft looked kind of 'science nerd,' in the photos. And I wouldn't want to project the wrong impression given I'm a global warming denialist, a birther, and a big reason for this purchase was my longstanding efforts to expose the conspiracy behind the alleged 'lunar landings.' But returning to the subject at hand, the spacecraft is quite impressive given its simplicity. The core of the craft is molded into the top of the globe, and you get three arrays of senors/antennas to stick into the sides of the satellite. Also somewhat of a foolproof setup to insure you plug the right part into the right place.

Other:

No on/off control.

Includes advert/brochure, full page sized, showing all their other planet/satellite globe combos with a few details on each planet and its satellite observation mission.

Has the word 'Stellanova' imprinted halfway down the Southern hemisphere of the lunar surface.

Tested turning off the power and the magnet on the base grabs the globe MOST of the time, but doesn't always stop it from rolling away.

This DVD is about Miss Spider trying to find guests to come to have tea with her. It teaches children that sometimes what they think a person is like isn't always true. That they need to take the time to get to know someone new. I like the moral lesson involved and the fact that the games are more educational than some other DVDs for this product. One game deals with counting, number recognition, patterns and shapes. So not only is my son learning to appreciate stories and comprehension but other educational skills are being reinforced as well. I would highly recommend this DVD if someone is interested in purchasing more in the series. This DVD is one that is both fun and educational.

This is my kiddos favorite of the RWM DVDs we have. They like it so much I'm ordering another one because wee-one cracked our first copy trying to get it out of the case (it's always hazardous for a parent to go to the restroom *wry grin*). I agree with the previous review that the games are a bit more educationally minded than some of the other discs. I appreciate having a decent alternative to simply parking the kiddos to be babysat by the tv during those moments you have to sort out without kiddos underfoot. They're still being parked, but at least it's with something they enjoy and isn't complete twaddle and fluff. (and I FAR prefer it to what I've seen of friends' V-Tech stuff--it's too similar to video games for my preferences).

Daughter got the console & 4 books from Santa Christmas... we love them all & she's happily reading even over Christmas break when not required!

I gave it a 3 for durability because it is a cd which, by nature, are NOT durable. Definitely don't recommend you allowing your small child to handle them as gooey kid prints & scratches will affect the playback.

My daughter loves her other Little Leaps games, but this one is a dud. Maybe it's just her, but she prefers the interactive puppets versus the cartoons. Not only that, but there are fewer games on this one than the other puppet type games.

If you already have the others, then you may want this one to add to your collection.

If you don't have others, I'd recommend the LeapFrog Little Leaps' Play & Move instead.

This is a nice set of affordable color paddles that I use in teaching about color. Some of the paddles are not saturated/dark enough though, so you have to hold two or three together to get a really pure color. The company originally sent a set with 6 orange paddles, and no red. They promptly sent me another set that had the right ones for free.

These are a great compliment to any of the color "mixing" books. My son especially loves Mouse Paint. We use the red, yellow and blue paddles to make the colors in the book, just like the mice. He likes to shine a flashlight through the color paddles and project them on a piece of paper, the wall, etc. My daughter, who is younger, likes to put the paddles to her eyes and see a different color. I like that this set has enough paddles to make 3 sets, one for each child and an extra just incase. Each paddle also has a hole in the bottom if you want to put them on a binder ring.

I returned this item since it was very thick not that transparent plastic. But the worth of all it was only blue, red and green colors of total 18 pieces.as you see it didn't include yellow as it was mentioned. The bottom line, it was not able to serve the purpose, to teach my kids how to create new colors of existing one. Do not recommend!

There are 18 paddles in the package. Three each of: Purple, blue, green, red, red, and yellow. That wasn't a typo, I got six red and three of everything else. I assume I was supposed to get 3 orange ones instead of the repeat reds. Each paddle has a clear, polished part on the handle and down the center of the head and two different textures on the head. if you want your child to understand colors. Normally such set contains at least red, green, blue, yellow, cyan and magenta. For example, red+green must be close to black, and yellow+cyan must be green. Additionally there may be shades of grey and polarizers. The dyes are tricky: if the manufacturer got them wrong you may see separate colors but not the expected mixes.

I bought first set here from the seller named Learning resources. They described it as COLOR PADDLES 18-SET 6 TRANSPARENT. In fact I received only 2 identical sets, each of 6 of meaningless and spectrally wrong paddles: there were bad red, bad green, bad blue plus bad yellow, orange and pink. OK, they were too cheap to return. I ordered another set from the seller proudly named American Scientific they looked differently on the picture. They sent me three identical sets, exactly the same as the first ones, and of the same colors.

On their picture they show only 6 paddles out of 18. You can't tell what the rest of them look like.

I can only wonder where did those guys learn their science before they started selling it.
