Buy VTech Tiny Tot Driver

Customer Ratings:

Great toy. Easy for the baby to play with from the belly or sitting. Lots of activity and modes. My son loves to pay with the wheel, mirror, stick shift. Then he turns it around and plays with the buttons. I think this builds multi-tasking skills since they can have a had on the wheel and one on the mirror or shift.

Can get a good 30m of play on it.

Community Helpers & Careers Pocket Flash Cards Review

Customer Ratings:

The kids loved to see all the different jobs and acted out each job as well. They also loved the trivia questions as well.

These are great cards for get children involved in learning about the jobs of others in the community! There are 27 occupations cards and 27 tool cards included in this deck. What's great is that they use occupations that children come in contact with on a regular basis, like a doctor or librarian. I also love that they used real pictures of people and tools rather than cartoonish drawings.

So take the firefighter as an example, on one card there is a picture of a firefighter on the front and on the back, it gives several information facts about them. It asks, do you like challenging, dangerous, physical work; helping people; working as part of a team? The requirements of becoming a firefighter: including what college is needed, physical stamina and training. Then the duties that a firefighter performs: rescuing victims, inspecting buildings for fire hazards, teaching fire prevention and safety. It also lists where they work: firehouses, airports, scenes of accidents. Also jobs that are related: fire investigator, forest fire prevention, fire cost inspector. The tool card shows pictures of equipment that someone in that profession would use, so the firefighter has an ax, alarm, hose, and gives the description of those on the back.

The occupations included in this deck are: bank teller, chef, construction worker, delivery person, dentist, doctor, factory worker, farmer, firefighter, hair stylist, highway worker, judge, librarian, mail carrier, mechanic, military, nurse, paramedic, pilot, pharmacist, police officer, religious leaders, sales clerk, sanitation worker, school bus driver, teacher, and veterinarian.

These cards are great for any kid who wants to learn more about the people who work in their community!

Bought flash cards to use in my writing center for 'research.' I love how colorful the cards are and the information they provided to the kids!

Honest reviews on Community Helpers & Careers Pocket Flash Cards

I like these cards which have real pictures instead of drawings and each profession has two cards which have a LOT of information.

Nice photos, but some of them are a little confusing for kids for (ex. nurse, doctor, peremedic) all kind of similar. I am a speech therapist and use them with kids. They also have random cards with kinds of things they use but some are confusing to figure out even for me.... (again the peremedic, doctor, nurse, etc.)

Buy Learning Resources Magnetic Time Activity Set

Customer Ratings:

You can only move the arrows in one direction which makes jumping around to different times to "test" or play guess the time games is difficult. You cannot quickly go from 2:00 to 11:45 to test your child's knowledge of telling time. You have to move the minute hand around, and around , and around, and around............It's a long way to 11:45 that way. I think the description might even tell you this but I didn't realize exactly what that meant until it was here. ex. Good quality product though, just not exactly what I needed for my children.

This is a great item, large and fun for children. The numbers are foam and the middle piece plastic. As the minute hand it turned, the hour hand also rotates making telling time easier to demonstrate.

Best Deals for Learning Resources Magnetic Time Activity Set

As an early elementary teacher, I know how difficult it can be for younger students (and some older students as well) to grasp the skill for telling time. They can tell time when looking at the "how to" we write together but have difficulty remembering it on their own. What hand goes with what number, etc.

The reason I love this clock is because of the different color of the hands. It may sound silly, but the short hand 'red' goes to the red numbers and you can write the blue numbers (5,10, 15...) for the minute hand (beyond the hour numbers) and those hands will color coordinate making it easier for children to tell time.

I did see another reviewer write that they did not like that the hands only go in one direction (like a real clock would). I look at that as an asset. Students are able to see that one revolution of the blue minute hand points the red hand to a new hour.

If you want to quiz students quickly, you could use flash cards, little Judy Clocks or homemade clocks with plates and paper brads.

I think this is an excellent teaching tool and I highly recommend it for any teacher who is teaching students how to tell time.

Honest reviews on Learning Resources Magnetic Time Activity Set

This is a fabulous clock to have on your board for instruction. The clock hands have a very strong magnet, so it will not move from placement. The kids prefer this to the older clock manipulatives used in instruction and it allows you to make the clock as big or little as needed (bigger so you can make marks for the minutes or smaller for advanced practice). I definitely recommend this purchase!

Review of Fisher-Price Discover 'n Grow Tracking Lights Musical Gym

Customer Ratings:

I received this as a shower gift and I am not sure if I would have purchased this off the shelf, just by its looks. After I put it together I thought it was too small and wasn't going to last past my son's 4th month, but my son is now 7 months and still finds it entertaining enough that it still remains one of his favorite toys. The bright, colorful, dangling toys are low enough very young babies to reach up and hit and remain engaged for a good amount of time. The tunes are not annoying either. As my son started to reach and grab, he would bat all the toys around and then try group them together triggering the tunes and lights. And now that my son is rolling over and creeping, he will roll off the mat, but finds his way back to play with it and the elephant and lion on the legs he just discovered. I am so happy with this toy because seeing and hearing my son's excitement when he plays with this is priceless!

I Just Bought mine from a lady on a Garage Sale site, my 7 Month Old was trying to Climb it! I didn't buy it for him, I had bought it for the new baby which is Due in December. We had been given The Fisher-Price Cow Baby Gym, and pieces were missing off of it, and my baby which is now 7 months was scared of the Cow at 1 month Old. It was time for a new one. So, I waited and watched the Garage Sale sites. I am so happy with it! :-)

I was trying to replace an item we had for my oldest, but this still wasn't quite it. This is very cute, and once my baby can pull the frog, it will be great. I just wish there were a way to turn the movement and/or music on all the time for when the baby is young. Otherwise, she just looks at it and we pull the frog for her. It should have music, at least, that you can turn on.

Ordered this set for a 4-year old who had expressed a lot of interest in playing. Was pleased to see when it arrived that it was an actual, well-constructed drum kit. It's probably the equivalent of an entry-priced drum set only scaled down, definitely not a toy. My son is enjoying it so far and I can even sit on the mini-throne and have a good time teaching him different beats.

Solderless Breadboard & Analog ICs Design Kit #1 Review

Customer Ratings:

this is a great product to get started if you know little to nothing about electronics. My only suggestion is to order extra LEDs as until you figure out how to not put to much power thru them you'll be burning them up quick and they're pretty cheap so no biggie. I also ended up buying a set of ten wired alligator clips which are also pretty cheap and come in handy on projects. In a short time of watching videos on youtube i have gotten thru a few projects and burn out a lot less LEDs now also i have definitely learned what all the things inside electronics are called, and how they work. That was one of my goals and reasons for buying this kit.

For a beginner like myself this kit is an excellent one. It has a great diversity of components and IC's. I found myself using parts I had no idea how to use or even existed into simple projects. Excellent for learning the basics. I do wish it came with more things diversity wise but that is just because it came with so much already and I was ready for more. I would reccomend this kit.

Cheap V.Reader Animated E-Book Cartridge - Mr. Men/Little Miss

Customer Ratings:

My daughter received a V.Reader and we have been slowly adding books. This book has characters from the Mr. Men series of books I remember as a child. This story is about a hunt for a missing sock all around Dillydale, and they ultimately find it in his messy bedroom.

There are 8 reading games that go with this story. I was going to tell you what each one does, but the book has been hijacked by the owner. I did get most of them though. What Happens is reading/listening for comprehension. Word Detective locates words with the chosen letter. Mr. Rude sniffs things and then has you figure out what he is smelling by matching the number of sniffs to the number of syllables in the word with Smelly Syllables. Sock Sorting matches upper and lower case letters. Show Time deals with opposites happy/sad, etc. Alphabetical Footprints has them figure out the next letter in the alphabet. Guess Who finds details to eliminate sock stealing suspects. I didn't get to Messy not Dressy, that one will have to be a surprise for you.

This one is suggested for ages 3-5 and that is pretty accurate. My 5 year old can complete most of the tasks without too much difficulty. I think this title has been discontinued, which is too bad. I'd search for it in the "used" section if you can. I hope they keep adding books and don't drop the product line like some companies tend to do.

Honest reviews on V.Reader Animated E-Book Cartridge - Mr. Men/Little Miss

I bought this game for my daughter (then two years old) last Christmas. It's a testament to its entertainment value that she still plays with it on a somewhat regular basis, she has learned many words on sight and I found out on accident yesterday how durable the cartridge is. Apparently, my husband found the cartridge on the floor and put it in his cargo pocket. Unknowingly, I proceeded to put the cargo pants through the washer and dryer with the game still in his pocket. When he saw me putting away the pants and alerted me to the mistake, we were going to throw the game away but decided to give it a try anyway... and it STILL worked! Amazing. I do not recommend doing this to any electronics, but I'm extremely happy it worked out in our case.

This item is used by meteorite collectors, but not only. It is a precision instrument used to indicate size/scale, but also direction if the picture is taken "in situ".

First Grade LeapPad Book: Dr. Seuss Hop on Pop Reviews

Customer Ratings:

While I love Dr. Suess and his books, I didn't love leap frog's version of his book. Of course Dr. Suess's words were wonderful and I liked how simple the page lay outs were (compared to some cluttery leap frog books)

I did NOT like the un needed ugly phrases that the Leap Pad people added. (the bumble bee was rude and cruel!)

Even my son said "Mom that was UGLY!" to some of the phrases.

And the voices of some of the characters sound almost sinister. Maybe the "goth kids" grew up and got jobs at leap frog, but as I remember Dr. Suess he was funny and quirky NOT creepy.

Sorry leap frog guys, I feel that you missed the point, and tone of Dr. Suess's wonderful books. I feel that some of the phrases in this book are NOT age appropriate. I would like to see more "innocent" books where they are not cynical or cruel to each other.(3-5 year olds should not be forced to be cynical!)

I guess I am picky, I also don't let my son watch sponge bob, or tom and Jerry (too violent) BUT if you are not picky and think sponge bob is great, then you will probly like this book.

every mom is different....

I gave this book to my four year old son before a grueling 32-hour trip with four plane changes. He had a blast recording his own voice with the microphone. He had a wonderful time playing independently. It was so refreshing to see him laughing his heart out saying "NO, Pat!" and "Don't sit on that!"

Dr. Seuss is doing an excellent job teaching my 5 year old son to read. Hop on Pop is fun and exciting and supports letter/sound recognition. It develops reading patterns and reinforces the concept of rhyming words. I definitely recommend it for emergent readers.

Honest reviews on First Grade LeapPad Book: Dr. Seuss Hop on Pop

My daughter, now seven, is in an advanced reading class. I thnk part of that reason is we encourage her to read and a big part of that was her using the leappad. This was one of many "books" that has helped to fuel her joy of reading. You can't go wrong with Dr. Seuss.

Seriously, I know the title says it all, but this is THE.LOUDEST.TOY.EVER! We've had some toys that I thought were pretty loud, but I just slap some tape on their speakers and we're friends again, but this thing takes loud to a whole new level. There are two kinds of noises it makes:

1. You can push the red button on the side and it rattles around like a freakin jackhammer on your floor (I'll bet our downstairs neighbors LOVE us).

2. If you push the guy he says things like, "Let's ride!" or "Move that dirt!" or plays a pretty rocking tune. This you can actually mute on the bottom of the toy.

It is #1 that is the loudest thing ever. Why do they allow you the option to mute the guy he's the coolest part about this thing.

All this said my son LOVES this thing. He got it for his 1st birthday as a gift. (The people he got it from also have a baby. I'm plotting a loud toy for her 1st bday!). This had to be opened right away and he loves watching it move across the floor after it rattles. He'll also rock out to the music it plays. Would be a great toy for someone who doesn't have downstairs neighbors!

My 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter love this toy. They are so rough with it, but it keeps working. :) I discovered that it does not roll well on the rugs in his playroom, but works well on low rugs in the other rooms. FYI, the belts/tracks don't move; there are wheels underneath the bulldozer that make it go. It IS very noisy, but that's the nature of construction and small kids! I listed this toy as educational for preschoolers because it promotes creative play and engineering skills like building and choosing blocks and other items that can be bulldozed with it.

We bought this for my son after he had played with it at a friend's house. Our son is really rough with toys and this one provides hours of entertainment. He loves the sounds it makes and it shakes, vibrates and moves on it's own. He has definitely put it through the ringer and it is still going strong! I would recommend this toy to anyone who's son likes trucks and things that make lot's of noise :o)

Oregon Scientific Tinkerbell Junior Laptop Review

Customer Ratings:

Oregon Scientific Tinkerbell Junior Laptop is adorable. Esthetically pleasing through the eyes of a little girl who absolutely loves Tinkerbell. However, I was a little disappointed with the screen on the monitor, as it's a bit small. The Oregon Scientific Tinkerbell Junior Laptop was attractive in all other areas. Great learning device for a younger audience, and an excellent price for such a educational toy.

The screen on this toy is entirely to small to be appropriately viewed. The voice has an accent so it makes it difficult for the child playing with it to understand. However, my granddaughter loves the toy because she loves Tinkerbell.

I bought this for my daughter by her own request for her birthday. She's a year under the minimum target age so please keep that in mind.

She absolutely loves this computer, however, it did take her a couple of days to figure out that she was actually interacting with the screen. I believe that the games are very simple and fun and I do find them to be educational. 4+ should have no real problem figuring this out.

The only complaint I have: The music on this thing drives me nuts! lol

Great microscope! Easy to use and great optics. LED lights are bright and give a nice white light. The rechargeable batteries make it portable and the charger tells you when they are finished charging. The only strange thing is that you can't use both the top and bottom lights at the same time, although I don't know when you would want to.

A note on the seller: don't rely on the product descriptions on Amscope.com many of them are inaccurate and they won't refund shipping costs ($30 each way for a microscope this size) if you buy from Amazon and return it because it didn't match Amscope.com's product description. Ask them first to see if their products actually have the features they advertise.

The optics are very good we have looked at many things and are very satisfied.

However the lighting doesn't do anything you can barely see the light is on. We are using an external light which is OK for some things but not when you need a light source from underneath.
