Yet another great CRANIUM toy. I puchased this toy for a very long car trip. (also purchase the Cranium Talking Picture Studio which was surprisingly dissapointing) This toy entertained our 5 & 7 year old for hours. It really got their creative efforts flowing. It is an electronic version of Mad Libs. It is durable, does not have accessory parts that fall onto the floor, easy to figure out...a WINNER. One note the batteries that come with it went out fast. I'd recommend changing the batteries before taking it on a trip, or bring backup batteries and one of those tinsy winsy screwdrivers.

The Cranium folks score again. My daughter got this as a Christmas present and loves, loves, loves it.

This is a great toy for late toddler and up. Using very easy to understand technology, kids record their own stories, if you are familiar with MAD LIBS it's the same premise but uses a recorder instead of writing. My daughter has as much fun playing with it by herself as she does playing with Mom, Dad, or her brother. This is a wonderful toy to travel with because it is a single hand-held unit, no extra pieces except an optional spinner to select stories.

My kids (ages 5 & 8) have really enjoyed this. It's like an electronic version of Mad Libs. Instead of writing your answers, you get to record your own voice. It took the 5 year-old a few tries to get the hang of doing this, but now she's really enjoying it. My only criticism is that you're limited to the 10 or so set stories.

I just received the toy today. I'm early Christmas shopping and since Christmas isn't for a couple of months I figured i'd try it out to see if it was working otherwise it would be to late to return if i wait til Christmas. When i turned it on the voice was slow and distorted it sounded awful so i changed the batteries. But even with new batteries the voice was still slow and distorted. I read the directions and troubleshoot section and it mentioned to reset the recorder if there were any problems. So i got a paperclip and insert it into the reset button. WA-LA it's all better. The voice is now fun and exciting and it works well.

So for those of you who have had trouble with the voice maybe if you reset the toy it will do the trick. As far as the funness of the toy, I'll have to wait until Christmas to see if my 5 year old enjoys it.

I think he will.

This is a convenient kit with all the essential parts for a DIY Uno clone. Saves you from sourcing the parts yourself and programming the Atmega processor or ordering a more expensive kit. I had originally been disappointed because I thought it came with the pictured breadboard, but the seller absolutely made it right and went as far as rewording the ad!!! I have purchased several Bareduino's. My son and I have had lots of fun assembling them and using them. With a perfboard (not included) you can build a rather useful portable computer that runs on common batteries.

The company provides great support, including replacement parts as need be. We had quite a few questions reflecting our limited knowledge of electronics. The company answered them all and we have since built many Bareduino's.

A few useful notes. You will need a breadboard and plug wires (not included) to build test Bareduino's. More permanent versions can be constructed using a perfboard and a soldering iron. Once you have a constructed a Bareduino, you can program it with three wires (TX, RC, and reset) and an Arduino. The Arduino platform has many, many (free) libraries that can be used with a Bareduino.

I would also suggest obtaining a multimeter before starting any project of this kind.

The parts were exactly what I wanted.

The biggest problem I had were the instructions, they left out some important parts and other parts were not as clear as I would have liked. I ended up having the browse through the real Arduino website finding information on putting the atmega on a breadboard.

I got the Bareduino with Power Regulator. Everything works great, and I was able to program it by both plugging it into the Arduino Uno board I have, and also by connecting some wires from the Uno board to this one. I only had to change my settings in the Arduino IDE to treat it as a "duemilanove", and then the sketches uploaded without any problems.

The power regulator I felt was a waste. Maybe it is fine for really simple things that you don't plan to keep plugged in all the time, but if you are having to drop some serious voltage down to 5V (I am using 12V power, which is in the working range of the regulator) and you plan on keeping it plugged in for long, I would skip out on this. You should get a Buck Converter instead. Buck Converters are ~95% efficient. The Power Regulator is about 40% efficient at 12V. That can mean a lot of heat. I nearly burned my fingers when touching the regulator, and it was only controlling the Arduino and 3 other chips.

Overall: Great kit, very economical, works well. Just wish I had spent $3 on a Buck Converter instead of $1 on the Power Regulator upgrade.

This board exceeded expectations! The ground plane on the back is a really nice feature. If you're wanting to experiment, or integrate through-hole parts with SMD parts, this board is it. What I really enjoyed about this board was the SOT-223 package size pads on the outsides of the board. You can literally put any SMD package size on this board. Granted it can get a little tight on the spacing/fitting, if you use solder paste it's not really an issue. This is my go-to board for all things SMD prototyping. Highly recommend this product.

When you receive this toy, the first thing you need to do is inspect them. In the set I ordered, the block with the little ball inside arrived damaged. The dowel which keeps the ball inside was loose, and the ball was able to fall out. This was a serious choking hazard. My daughter would take everything into her mouth, including this ball perfect for choking, had I not caught it. I contacted the store I bought them from, and in a couple of weeks, I received a new block. Just something to be aware of.

I love wooden toys, and try to buy wood instead of plastic whenever possible. Be aware though that wood is sometimes not as durable as plastic. I was washing a bunch of my daughters toys in the sink recently, and had this off to the side because I was only going to wipe it off, since it's wood. Unfortunately one fell in, and after only a few minutes in the sink I had to throw it out. The wood expanded and cracked.

When I bought this toy, I though my daughter would enjoy all the activities these blocks have to offer. Turns out that she didn't pay much attention to it at all. The only one she really paid attention to was the block with the bell. She mostly used these blocks for chewing on, and throwing them over if I stacked them.

I still love the little "discovery" things in each toy, and as she gets older she might play with them more (she's 12 months now). But for the play value this toy has provided up to now, it's a bit overpriced. Regular wood blocks would have served the purpose just as well.

I bought these blocks for my daughter when she was 5 months old. Out of all her toys, this is one of her favorites. She loves throwing down towers we build with it, and putting them just out of her reach encourages her to crawl. She likes the different colors, and the sounds these blocks make. Even at 6 months, she can easily handle these blocks with one hand, well enough to hold one in each hand and I think she will enjoy these for months to come.

These blocks were the beginning of my love affair with HABA products. For a young baby they provide far more age appropriate education and fun than the average wood block, and they are of excellent quality. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed exploring each unique block since she was 4 months old. Everyday she spends a good 15 minutes studying them, banging them, and knocking them over. This is by far one of my favorite toy purchases for her.

We purchased this activity cube for our 9 month old son this Christmas. He immediately started playing with it and exploring all the movable parts. It is extremely sturdy and well made, and we love that it's wood instead of plastic. This also gives it some weight so that he can pull up on it without it sliding too much. One side has detachable shapes that we're going to leave off until he's older (right now they would go straight in his mouth), even though they're decent size and unlikely a choking hazard. This way I can leave him alone with the cube and not worry at all. Another great aspect... it comes as ONE PIECE, already assembled!!! No screws, instructions, or parts to mess with :) And with prime shipping we got it in two days. As he gets older there are many "teachable" components: counting, shapes, gears, animals, colors. I'm excited that this toy will grow with him and is durable enough to last through many more children. We are extremely happy with this product... Santa did a good job this year!

We had bought a smaller version from another company and my 10 month old played with it so much we decided she needed a bigger one.

This is hands down her favorite toy, she will play with it for hours. There's so much stuff to do she never seems to get bored with it. The only thing I don't like about this toy is the sharp edges, you can pad them just make sure your baby can't tear the padding off. I would also recommended putting it on a carpeted surface as it can be slippery and cause falls if your baby tries to use it to stand up on.

I purchased this item for my Son after seeing how much he liked working with similar ones in waiting rooms. The construction is great, everything seems well attached except for the magnetically attached shapes, they are hard to keep attached. I may make a modification, replacing the magnets with higher power ones, but we shall see.

My Son has played with the cube many times and certainly enjoys pulling the beads across the metal lines. I am very happy with the item and would suggest it for anyone who wants their child to have access to the same items they would have in a classroom setting.

We own Mr. Pencil, Penguins of Madagascar and Toy Story for the Leapster Explorer. My son is 5 and absolutely loves the Explorer and is having a great time with all of the educational stuff. My son is 5 and just received the Explorer and Toy Story 3 game for Christmas. He has been playing it for 3 days straight and we have a hard time getting him to put it down! The characters are great and unlike a previous review that I read, my son has been able to choose to be Woody or Buzz. Great learning games and it keeps his attention. We have also tryed the ni hao kai-lan game and it didn't hold his attention at all, seemed hard to figure out, a bit boring.

This game will hold my 5-year-old's attention for only a short while--he got it almost a year ago and I think he's played it twice. He only pulled it out again because we got the LeapPad and he wanted to try the game on the new system. He definitely has more fun with the Dora and Penguins games. I also think this game has some confusing "learning" activities. My son has learned to count syllables this year in Kindergarten and is very good at it. One of the activities on the game is to count the sounds in certain words. At first I thought this was great because it would reinforce his syllable counting...until the game said that the word "tie" has 2 sounds and "spoon" has four sounds. I think Leapfrog is trying to get the kids to sound out the word--but I'm not sure. It's just an odd activity and my son just guesses the answer until he gets it right.

While the workmanship of this product leaves something to be desired, the flame produced is hot and the valve seals perfectly. Using LPG/Propane, the flame has slightly orange tips, even with the air valve completely open, indicating that inadequate oxygen is being mixed with the fuel. However, heated objects are not blackened, so this is of little consequence for most purposes. Overall, it is a great deal compared to the other burners available for sale on Amazon.

My granddaughter loved it. The pieces are just the right size for little hands to handle. She has other puzzles from The Learning Journey that are very durable but I found this one to not be as sturdy. All in all, the puzzle is a great value and will provide many hours of enjoyment.

I bought this for my son because I had it as a child. I know we used to walk around dragging it as well as playing with it as a phone. The problem with this whole thing is that they shortened the two cords -the one to pull it while walking and the one from the base of the phone to the receiver -so much that they essentially defeat the purpose of the toy. My son is just about one year old and the receiver will not reach his ear when he is sitting with the toy on the floor. The pull cord is SO short I don't even think my small dog could walk and pull the thing. I understand the need for safety, but it's really taken a lot of the fun out of this toy.

In sum: it's nice to reminisce about your youth with this, but your child will not be able to use it in the same way you did. I'll look for a used old one rather than having purchased this one had I known what I know now.

How I survived my childhood with this toy, I don't know. Supposedly it was hazardous. This newer version still has the rotary dial with the same ringing (which I loved and still love--no batteries). The eyes move up and down when the wheels roll. The receiver seems a lot lighter in weight than I remember. The pull cord is very thin and cheap. I tie it up in a bow so it doesn't get caught or be a hazard. The cord attached to the receiver part is very short. For my almost 11-month old to hold it up to her ear, she has to lift up the whole phone. My daughter is petite in height, so since the toy is technically for age 12 months, I can really see the main phone go swinging when a child tries to bring the receiver to the ear. The cord to the receiver is the same thin cord as the pullcord--but a different color. I know a longer cord would be a choking hazard (that's my guess as to why it's so short), but it sure would make the phone a little more fun to use--so eventually a toddler could dial AND pretend to talk on the phone at the same time.
