Leapster Learning Game: Letterpillar Reviews
I purchased this product for my 4 year old to help reinforce letter recognition. He LOVES it!! There are 3 levels the first level tells you to eat letters, second level tell you to eat capital letters and I believe the third level you make words. (I just caught a glimpse from my 5 y/o playing it so not sure). They both LOVE making the caterpillar grow longer which only happens by eating the correct letters. I love how it tells you what letter you ate too! So far so good.

I have been using these books for a few years for kids in my kindergarten class. There are many "phonics" books out there, but few of them are truly phonetic -they're usually full of sight words & harder words, making it really difficult for beginning readers to read independently. These are PHONETIC. The children can sound out the words & read these short stories by themselves, which really gives them the self confidence to keep reading more.

I am a teacher and this was a good review of history for all students. I used it during the month of February for Black History month and the students enjoyed it and learn something. Most of all it allowed them to learn just how much they did not know about their own history. I teach in a school that is predominately African American students and they were shocked about just what they did not know about themselves. I learned a lot too. I did have to fish through the questions to get to ones I thought they had a chance of knowing. Thanks for this valuable historical learning trivia game. I will use it all year long as a trivia review because after all, we are Black 365 days of the year, therefore it is not just to be used during Black History month.
Cards Game Math War Addition and Subtraction (3-Pack) Reviews
I use these in my first grade class. Most kids already know how to play War, so this is a great way for them to be able to play cards in school (BIG motivation), and practice math at the same time. I like it because the kids help each other when one can figure out what their number is.

We were looking to for a way to make memorizing addition and subtraction facts fun. My six year old and I like to use this as a break from drill work. Game is almost just like regular war except more than two people can play (we always played regular war with just two players). Be careful though...there are 3 decks of same game in this set. Liked this journal/diary so much I reordered for another grandson. It is very diffcult to find journals for boys and this one is great. Purchased for 7 and 9 yr. olds and they love them, keeping their "secrets" under lock and key.

I bought this for my grandson who has been reading and watching the movie of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" (or 'diarrhea wimpy kid', as he calls it). My son loved the Junie B. Jones books and wanted a diary of his own to write in. All of the ones we found in stores, however, were either geared towards girls or loaded down with lots of text and activities. This one is perfect...just a great cover, a working lock with two keys, and lots of blank, lined pages. My son is 7 and really loves having a private place (a.k.a. safe from the eyes of his not-yet-reading 5 year old brother) to record his thoughts. My 6 year old son loves his diary. He handed one key over to me (it comes with two) so that if he misplaced his he would know where the other one was (I guess I shouldn't get to used to that kind of trust come the teenage years ;-) The pages are lined, I would prefer unlined personally, he doesn't seem to care and will write or draw on the pages. I am a public school teacher and find these cards to be an excellent teaching tool for students. You can use them with wood or plastic pattern blocks and it makes a terrific learning center. I teach K and first grade, but older students can use these for geometry, fractions and other math concepts. Students really like to use the blocks and cards.Loved the cards! They work great for our math time games. I have a 6th grader and a 4th grader and they both enjoyed them.

I was nervous when I bought this set because we have been burned by geodes before--cracking them open to find nothing but solid, boring rock inside. But based on good reviews I decided to try our luck one more time. I could not have been more pleased with the results. All six of these geodes had lovely crystals inside. My daughter was thrilled!My son enjoyed breaking all the geodes. He was a bit disappointed that they were all the same inside but he still liked it.

Aesthetically super-cool, but most importantly, the sound is excellent. I've tried out a number of acoustic guitars over the years and am rarely completely won over -one's too tinny; one's too booming, etc. I was really impressed with a Daisy Rock model's sound a while back, but the look wasn't quite right for me. Then comes the glittery Pixie and, being a child of the '80s, I had to have it!
I tried one in a store to make sure I liked the sound, but wound up buying it through Amazon vendor ZoZo Music (who shipped promptly and is just fab) to get the best price.
As advertised, the smaller neck and lighter weight make it ideal for females. (Not just "girls," but perhaps girls at heart!)
It's fantastic -get it and rock on!

My friend has this guitar, and I have played it multiple times. The aesthetics of the guitar are obviously cool. The hot pink glitter makes it a very bold instrument.However, there is very poor resonance and tone with this. It is made smaller for girls, but I found the neck width to be borderline too small for me (and I have smaller hands). The depth of the neck is nice, makes it much easier to wrap your thumb around.
I guess the resonance is sacrificed with the sparkles. Because of its coating, there's less vibration and reverberation going on which ultimately affects your tone.
The strings sit a reasonable distance from the fretboard not too high, not too low. This guitar is probably better for basic chords and rhythm rather than fast-picking solos, especially in the higher ranges since it is not a cutaway.
I think this would be a great guitar for a younger girl learning to play. After all, at a young age we're not really thinking about tone, but how cool we look playing!

I got this guitar for a budding rock star, and it sounds pretty good for what it is:a shallow-bodied composite back/side guitar (the top is spruce...I'm not sure if it is solid or laminate, but the purple paint is so thick that it probably matters little).
The pros:
+ well-built: composite material body is about 3 inches in depth...the back is arched like an Ovation; it is black with a pebbled texture; neck is a mahogany/nato-type wood; strings are D'Addario EXP's; 20-fret fingerboard measuring 25.25 inches from nut to saddle.
+ good intonation: harmonics are pretty good, higher pitch range is bright, while the lower end is a touch muddy...but not bad considering the size & resonance of the body.
+ Amazon is great with their support: if you buy this guitar, they are your best option.
The cons:
the tuners are NOT Grovers, as stated in the Product Description (I have let Amazon know)...and it was one of the reasons I got the guitar. From what I can tell, they are the typical cheap die-cast tuners found on most low-priced guitars. And it is immediately noticeable...the strings do not hold their pitch, requiring frequent adjustment. Not horrible, but annoying & frustrating, and worth replacing...which will set you back about $50, if you want Grovers.
the finish is not great: eg, very obvious glue on the fretboard's snowflake inlays...one is so thick it interferes with playing;
customer support is (online at least) unresponsive (so far...I've sent 4 emails & am still waiting)...so I wouldn't place much hope in that area...and the accuracy of their specifications is questionable (the Grover spec is stated on several other vendor's websites...so it's origin is possibly from Daisy Rock themselves).
Other comments: they provide 2 sheets of butterfly & daisy stickers for decorating the guitar, if that is of interest to anyone. I personally don't like them...but it's a matter of taste. Also, it comes with a gig bag...which is a good idea...but it is so thin, flimsy and cheaply made that it's not worth much, so I just discounted it from the review. Better off getting a decent quality one.
If they provided a better quality gig bag and even answered my emails, I'd have given it 4-stars...and if it had the Grovers, as advertised, maybe even a 5, considering the quality vs price...but, alas...
Bottom line: It is a decent guitar for a smaller person. I recommend shopping around, because the list price is too much to pay for this one...closer to $100-$125, and it's a good buy.

I am a geology major and I needed to work on my rock classification. This is a great product with all the common rock types in order to help with memorization. Great price compared to walking around and trying to collect all these samples myself... lol that would suck! This set contains well-sized samples of rocks and minerals, sure to delight the budding geologist. The samples are numbered rather than labeled with the specimen's name, and the accompanying book identifies them. It arrived on time and as described.The only reason I didn't give this product five stars is that the manufacturer should really list the specimens in its product description; there are a lot of collections for sale out there, and collectors want to know what they are actually getting so they don't end up with duplicates.

I'm not exactly an expert, but this is extremely realistic. Bought as spooky decor rather than a study aid, so a medical student may have a different opinion. Quite satisfying for such a low price and a lot of fun for upsetting house guests. Surprisingly heavy, should you be in the market for an unusual choice of blunt object. I needed tuning pegs for a cifteli and decided to give these a go and they work great. Reason I gave it 4 stars is because when I was tuning a ten gauge bouzouki string on my cifteli, one of them cracked. Now granted I shouldn't have been experimenting with a higher gauge string as a cifteli needs .007s rather than.010s so that was most likely due to my negligence, however all I needed to do was tune the peg in the opposite direction and all was well when I finally got my hands on some .007s.Reviews of Educational Insights Eggspert

Wow, this game rocks! I watched another teacher use one to turn his bored class of high schoolers into a fully-engaged, excited, laughing, and active set of learners. I highly recommend it.
Mine just arrived from Amazon, and as other reviewers pointed out, the cables are about 4 feet. But not to worry -there's an easy solution. Just plug in a set of 3.5 mm jack audio extension cables and you can get any length you need. Amazon has a wide variety, so try typing "audio cable 3.5 mm male female" into the Amazon search cell and you should get a good list. I've used the 6 foot stereo version with good results.
[Update in March 2011] I've been using this for several months while substitute teaching, and it's been a lifesaver. I form the kids into 6 groups, usually simply by their desk row. They then write on 3x5 cards their own questions and answers about whatever they are studying in the class. I encourage slightly harder questions that would take 5-15 seconds to solve. I then select one question from each group and play the game. (Of course, groups don't get to answer their own question.)
During game play, one student from each group writes their answer on a 12x9 inch white board (also available from Amazon), holds it facing the ceiling (so no other groups can see), then a different student pushes the button. Once all teams have written an answer, then I reveal the correct answer. To keep it fun and non-combative, I avoid keeping an overall score. The whole lesson usually takes about 30 minutes.
As a final piece of advice, I recommend creating 6 kits in large zip lock bags to pass out to the first student in each row. In each kit is a stack of blank cards, white board, dry erase pen, board eraser and Eggspert push button. Certain teams also get extensions as follows (Pink & purple each get 2 of the 6 foot extensions. Orange & blue get one 6 foot extension each. Yellow and green get no extensions because I set up the unit in the middle.) Orignally I used longer extensions, which tangled easily, so stick with 6 footers and unplug all connections before having the students return them to the kit bags.

If you teach high school with 30+ students in your class, don't bother buying this. The company shortened the buzzer cords from 10 feet to 4 feet, and it's impossible to get teams to crowd around the main control panel within a 4-foot radius. I wrote to customer service, and they were not helpful. I had to buy my own extensions off of another Web site which cost me an additional . The students do enjoy playing Jeopardy-style review games with it. I also bought the wireless version of Eggspert first which did not work well at all, so I returned it and got this wired version. I do a lot of training at work and got a lot of stares when I pulled this out. Staff were rolling their eyes looking at it and getting huffy. Then I asked the first question and buzzers started ringing in. Staff loved it!! I've used it for family feud, jeopardy, wheel of fortune, and other games. Staff don't dread training as much now and get more involved in the training. It also builds team spirit. Yes, it looks like a pre-schooler toy, but our staff love it!
