This is a nifty little guitar. Perfect price if you are not sure if your child is going to stick around with it, yet a good, quality instrument so they can learn properly.

I love that it came with a strap and a bag. The bag doesn't have any padding, but is still a better alternative than leaving it out or trying to carry it at the neck.

My 6-year-old niece is just having a blast with this guy!

Bought this guitar for my 3 year old. He enjoys playing and singing with it. He can easily hold it on his lap to play, but his fingers do not reach onto the frets. I am sure it is because he is so small. It is attractive and the case is nice for transport. It has a decent sound and seems to be holding up for a 3 year old's play.

This was difficult to tune and required retuning frequently. The lower strings are metal covered and stayed in tune better than the upper strings, which are nylon. The lower strings also sound much better. I will be looking for alternative upper strings. The instrument itself is well made, came with a nice strap and case which also had a nice carry strap.

This is actually a very nice guitar, My granddaughter's first, and it fits her five year old hands perfectly. Much better than the small child guitars you can find for cheaper.

I bought this for my 6yr old who saved up all his chore money to buy it! On receipt of the guitar I attempted to tune it to E so I could teach him a few easy chords while playing my Taylor. First off the string tension was either ridiculously loose or dangerously tight as I attempted to tune it, the D string snapped way before it hit pitch and I now have a crying boy who really wanted to play this instrument but cannot as its untuneable!!! Its going back asap....I've been playing 28yrs and have never found an instrument so impossible to get in tune...piece of junk.

I have several of the HexBug Nanos, and I have a great time playing with them. They really do resemble tiny, fast moving bugs that race around their habitat. The problem is that the product description for this toy says, "Hexbugs are designed with two touch-sensitive antennae that sense obstacles and direct them to reverse and change direction on their six articulated legs. They re even sound-sensitive! Clap your hand, slap the table or make some other loud noise and your Hexbug will stop and change direction." While that is true of some of the larger HexBugs, it is NOT true of the Nano. The Nano has no antennae, and does not respond to touch or sound. You cannot control where it will go. It can't stop or back up. The Nano has 12 rubber, non-articulated legs which are curved so that the vibrations its body makes produce rapid, forward movement. It has a wedge-shaped head which will cause it to turn slightly when it meets with an obstacle, keeping it from getting stuck against things. The result is a very life-like movement, similar to that of a beetle or a very small hamster. This may not sound very appealing, but they are actually quite charming. Their frantic movements give you the impression that they are "exploring" their world, and you want to see what they "do" next. You can buy one of the specially designed "habitats" for them, or create an obstacle course for them out of a shoebox and small things they can "play" with. (We like to put a small, rubber ball and an empty toilet paper tube in a shoe box and see how long it takes the random motions of the Nano to push the ball through the tube!) These are mesmerizing little toys that are good for hours of fun. A perfect "pet" for a child who is not yet ready for the responsibilities of owning a living animal.

Bought about 7 Hexbug Nanos for nephews ages 3 to 10 and they loved them! We made tracks and mazes and raced them. The Nano is quite tiny (about 1" x 0.5"), and they can end up in very tight places if you let them get away. One got between the dishwasher and the kitchen cabinet and had to be surgically removed! Also, you will need a magnifying glass to read the instructions or change the battery (really).

This item was exclusive to Brookstone until about December 15th. Brookstone originally listed this product with photos of all available colors. The product description however states that you are getting one Hexbug in a random color. Nowhere on the listing does it say set or set of 5 etc. It is not fair for those who ordered without reading the product description and simply assumed they were getting a set because one of each color is illustrated in the photographs. Red Rocket Hobbies contacted Amazon to have their photos of singles shown and to get the listing updated to make sure people didn't assume.

Amazon has full control over which seller gets to have product information shown on product pages, even if they are wrong. If you want to complain to a company you should contact Brookstone who listed the product in the first place. I hope this helps shed some light on this description problem.

The glow in the dark Hexbugs are very cool toys and are in very limited supply this holiday season. I've never seen them sell for $5 as stated in another review. The market and demand always sets the price everywhere.

I got these for my children as stocking stuffers. They enjoyed them immensely, making an obstacle course in a big box to watch these little guys maneuver around. They also loved that they glowed in the dark. Until the batteries ran out.. I would say total play time was an hour. I didn't have more batteries, so that was that. I know these can come as a pack with lots of batteries included, for lots more money. If you are going to purchase them, I would recommend buying them with lots of extra batteries.

5 year old son wanted the larger spider & ant & another insect I forget. But after I reviewed that product & other similar toys, these bugs seemed like the clear winner to me based on reviews. I followed suggestions to buy at least 2 to see how they move together, more interesting than just one bug people said. Also bought glow in the dark per reviews.(Very Cool) The habitats seemed pretty popular (& add ons for them as well). But I thought if we already have small wooden blocks and big cardboard "bricks" why not use what toys the kids already have? This way we're not adding to a landfill in a few years. Also, by not buying anything to contain these little buggers, the kids would have to spent more time building/ creating their own habitats. This has worked out FABULOUSLY! They build long runs & mazes side by side, with each bug having its own identical space, and then watch the bugs "race" through their creations to see who the winning bug is. This is fun, simple, creative, and saves $$ I don't have to shell out for a habitat that doesn't have any other useful purpose. Now my 7 yr old son AND my husband want to get their own bugs. Everyone is taken with such a clever little gadget. They truly seem like real insects. Even the cat is fascinated by them. As for batteries, we have not had to change them yet, & they've had a LOT of play time. For what it's worth, my husband is a diabetic & his pump runs on these batteries. So if anyone out there is a diabetic w/ pump, you have an unlimited supply of these batteries at your finger tips, just remove them before discarding your pump. Store them so they do not touch each other, so they do not drain their energy. We tape ours to a piece of cardboard. This is not an educational toy, it's just pure fun. Building your own structures to contain these little creatures does add a smidge of educational value, right? Found this toy @ WALMART for much cheaper.

Barn Owl Pellet: Each: X-Large Review

Barn Owl Pellet: Each: X-Large
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I bought the owl pellets for my two boys. I remembered dissecting owl pellets when I was their age in school and wanted to share the experience with them.

They received these as a Christmas present and after the amusement of their other toys wore off, they were excited to do these. I helped my youngest son open up his aluminum foil covered pellet and was happy to see it was just as I remembered what they looked like. Gray, fuzzy and smell free.

Then I helped my oldest son open his, his first reaction was that it smelled really bad, and when we removed the foil we had two large rat skulls staring up at us. These skulls had caked on fur, that looked like it was shat on by an owl. And the smell reminded me of my dog's favorite perfume, "Dead Squirrel Le Toilette". My assumption was that it escaped sterilization, but encouraged my son to try to remove the fur to get some pretty cool skulls to check out. That worked out, until a maggot crawled out of the skull. After killing the maggot, my oldest son took off, and lost complete interest. I took the skulls and tried to boil the fur off, but found that the skulls still had muscle matter on them and my house was beginning to smell like death. Everything ended up in the trash, including the pan.

In summary, they are fun to dissect and my youngest had a great time identifying the bones with the bone chart enclosed. You do have to provide your own tools. We used tweezers, scalpel and small pick. But, if it smells really bad, you're better off leaving it alone, unless you like bugs, half decayed muscle tissue holding the skulls/bones together. But, I would take the risk again if my children wanted to do these again.

I'm sorry, but even with the educational value of this "toy," it is just unnecessarily expensive. Cause walking into an owl cage, or out into the forest to find an owl pellet is so hard. Why on Earth does anybody think I'm about to blow five or six bucks just for shipping and handling (on a three dollar item)? Fat chance. Lower the shipping cost and maybe I'll consider buying it, and tell others to buy it too. But for now, I'll stick to walking through the forest.

These beads are fantastic quality, they are smooth, the paint is even and flawlessly applied and the colors and shapes are every bit as appealing as they look in photos perhaps more so! They were larger than I had expected, despite knowing the measurements in advance. I was unsure when ordering if, despite the age recommendation (18 months+), these would actually be appropriate for a younger child. (They are right on the border, measurement-wise of being a choking hazard). However, being able to hold them and look at them more closely, they are really quite large, and intuitively seem safe that way.

In terms of the painted surface, I feel much safer with Holgate than I do with 99.9% of the toys out there these days. Holgate is a US company, and has been around forever. They have been making wooden toys for nearly a century. All of their wood, paints everything is US-sourced.

Bottom line this is a Made in the USA toy, at a truly reasonable price, absolutely fantastic quality and a classic skill-building tool that will be fun for toddlers and preschoolers alike. I would definitely put this in my top-ten must-have toys list. It's just that cool.

These beads are fantastic quality! They are made by the Holgate company in the USA -I'm not sure why they don't mention that here, since it is such a strong selling point in childrens' toys. For now, I bought them for my 8 month old son to chew on. I strung them on the included rope and tied a knot at either end; he loves them! If I'd known about them, I definitely would have bought them for him much sooner because I think he would have enjoyed playing with them from as early as a few months old. As an added bonus, I'm sure he'll have fun lacing them when he's older. I love buying toys with "staying power"!

It is worth noting that the set I received does not match the picture shown here. I got one each of the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple beads that are shown. I also received 4 slightly smaller beads. Two of them are round and two are oblong (a scaled down version of the yellow bead slown). Also, these 4 beads appear to be stained, while the rest of the beads are painted. [As I was writing this, it occurred to me that this seemed a little fishy, and I was worried that the seller might be breaking up sets of genuine Holgate beads and filling in with cheaper beads. I contacted the company and they confirmed that the actual beads in each package may vary and that mine were all fine. No bead scandal here.]

I knocked off one star since my beads don't match the photo. If they are going to include beads that are smaller, in not as interesting shapes and less vibrant colors, they should let you know. But, in all honesty, I'm still thrilled with this purchase.

Best Deals for Jumbo Lacing Beads Classic Made in USA Wood Toy

My son was a Micropreemie and has some developmental delay. He still has trouble with fine motor skills at three years old, and a small intention tremor is his dominant hand. One of our therapists recommended making cardboard cutouts and using a shoelace, but this toy is far superior because he can grip each bead in his whole hand and the bead doesn't slip off the cord right away. He calls it making jewelry! We can perform the task over and over with different combinations for what I would call an extended period of time. Its definately a favorite of his.

Honest reviews on Jumbo Lacing Beads Classic Made in USA Wood Toy

These beads are nice and large and good for building dexterity in my toddler. I don't like one of the beads which is smaller than all the others but also unpainted and unvarnished. Ruins the look of the set and doesn't match the picture with two nice red spools (our set only had one). I think it's fine for colors to vary but not to include filler beads that don't match the look at all.

This product is adequate...I'm not overly impressed. The ends of the string have come loose and one of the beads included in our set doesn't match the "look" of the others. It is an odd shaped brown thin bead as if one was lost and they threw a macramé bead into the package to replace the missing bead. Our child enjoys playing with it anyway.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Stacking Train Reviews

Melissa & Doug Wooden Stacking Train
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

The toy that arrived from this seller was not the one pictured. The only reason I paid more for this one than the same exact toy that Amazon had for a little cheaper was that this picture contained a toy with a pull stringIT DOES NOT HAVE A PULL STRING. It is the toy that is pictured under the cheaper amazon price with the single colored wheels and no pull string. My son loves to pull toys behind him, so that is why I purchased this and I am very disappointed that it doesn't have the feature I paid more for. My son still loves his "choo-choo" and taking the blocks on and off, I just wish I paid the lesser price.

My 15 month old grandson played happily with this train in the children's section of my favorite local bookshop, so I ordered one to have at my house for when he is here. Now he is 18 months and still interested. It is both a stacking toy and a train, or, as he prefers, separate push cars. I appreciate its solid wood, smooth and unbreakable construction, and its bright colors. A lot of play value for a very small amount of space. Since buying this, I have learned that these are typical characteristics for toys by Melissa and Doug, so I will be buying some others for him.

Best Deals for Melissa & Doug Wooden Stacking Train

Besides our two children, every kid that visits our house has a go at this thing. They spend hours stacking it every which way you can. We only had one piece take a little wear but that was because our son carried it everywhere with him for six months straight. I gave it a quick sand, added some paint and everything is as good as new.

Our only complaint, the thing doesn't pick itself up. Chasing down all the pieces around your house gets annoying really fast.

Honest reviews on Melissa & Doug Wooden Stacking Train

Title pretty much says the gist of things. My younger toddler didn't know what to do with it. But now that he is 2 he is beginning to lay with it more. However, the wooden leg that is used to couple the cars fell out and is not a long choking hazard. It was just glued in and not well.

My husband bought this for my daughter at a discount-type store, so we got it for a very low price. My daughter is eleven months old and mostly interested in taking the blocks off and playing with them. She loves to chew on them, bang them together, and throw them. She's not interested in the train as a whole right now, but I think it would make a great toy for an older kid in that regard. She gets a smile on her face every time she sees me get it out.

This toy piano is a great toy. My 8-month old baby loved it and started banging on it as soon as we took it out of the box. A bench part was defective, but we contacted Schoenhut directly, who sent us a replacement bench very quickly. However, since my baby hasn't quite mastered the art of sitting still, the bench is pretty worthless at this point (though she loves banging on it too, and uses it to climb things).

The adult-size keys are great. The sound quality is fine (glockenspiel tones), and are actually pleasantly muted, so I'm not terribly concerned about bothering the neighbors in my building. The keys are quite clacky, though, and one or two of them stick unless struck hard. None of these things deter an 8-month-old, and since she doesn't mind, I don't either.

The piano itself is adorable, and looks great in the nursery. Since it's just a toy piano, it doesn't matter if she bangs on it or chews on it (unlike my real piano, on which I do not encourage teething or ill-treatment).

There's a color strip that you can put up with the keys to learn to play. While my child is way too young for it at this point, my non-musical spouse actually started picking out some basic tunes on the keyboard, which was a pleasant surprise.

I'm not sure how well this toy works for older children. I think it depends on the child. When I was 3, I was playing an adult piano just fine. I plan on introducing my child to a real piano too, just as soon as she learns some language and fine motor control (and perhaps finishes teething).

All in all, it's a great piano. Minus one star for the clacky sticking keys, but otherwise, it's delightful for me and fun for my child.

In overall this is good toy well-made, no sharp edges, it is colorful and bright, with different textures.

But my opinion that $40 which is stated as "regular price" is a mistake this toy definitely isn't worth such money.

All its features are:

Ability to regulate sound: off/low/normal

3 "pages" 2 wings and middle "page"

Lightning face when move "pages" (red light in the left cheek, yellow in the right cheek)

Music when move "pages" (3 tones and few short sounds)

Ability to close wings like a book

Turnable bee and 2 turnable rings in left wing

2 holes and moveable ladybug (along curve path) in middle wing

Turnable flower in the other side of ladybug

3 rotatable gearwheels in right wing (of different size and colors, one has mirror surface)

I'd recommend this toy for about 6-months-old baby, because for 3-month-old it may be too big and for 1-year-old this one may not be interesting anymore.

I received the Light N' Sound book at my baby shower. I cannot believe how many moving and musical pieces this toy has! There are gears in the wings, one of the wings flips from side to side and doing so changes up the music, another wing has other pieces to touch and move, and I love that you can close it all up. I also think making the on/off/volume switch into one of the butterfly's tentacles is super cute. Although my baby isn't here yet, we opened this up at the party and the kids who had come along with their moms loved it. I think the best feature is the music that changes with the wings. Definitely a great interactive toy and seems way higher quality than other more generic brands.

Great gift it was a baby shower gift and the mom-to-be and others absolutely loved it. Definitely would recommend it!

Honest reviews on BKids Light 'N Sound Butterfly Book

This is a very cute toy. The problem is that it only plays a 3 songs. 1 when you open it, 1 when you turn the page to the right, 1 to the left. The face has 2 LED's that light up along with the rhythm of song. There are no buttons for the baby to press. If you could press down the face as a button and if it played 10 or more songs, this would've been better.
