I know we are all terrified of our baby dying from her toy but the handle size is ridiculously small. It wouldn't be a strangulation hazard if the handles were big enough for them to get the purse up on their shoulder but not over their head. Baby heads are large. I also thought the accessories were dumb. I returned this purse and went and bought my baby a tween purse that she loves. I also bought her the Hello Phone and a set of keys to go in her purse all for not much more than this "toy" cost.

Buy My First Shape Sorter
I received my item on time with no delays. The shape sorter is really colorful and my granddaughter loves to shake it up! The only thing that surprised me was that the plastic was very thin compared to the Tupperware brand. I expected a thicker plastic, but it does seem durable enough for a one year old.I like the traditional ball sorters like I used to have so I ordered this one. It functions the way it's supposed to, I just don't like how hard it was to open at first but that seems to be getting easier with use.

Discount Sand Writing Tray with Tracing Cards & Sand
Received this in the mail a few days ago. I was having trouble getting my two year old to draw lines on a piece of paper. We're not talking "hey sweetie, here's some chalk, have at it!" we're talking can you draw a line from point "a" to point "b"? Maybe she is a bit young, not sure, but she just couldn't do the pencil/pen/crayon thing. I found this and thought we'd give it a try. BRILLIANT! Hands on and exactly what she needed to "see" what I was talking about. We use her finger to trace on the card and then we do it in the sand together and then I let her try it on her own. No saying, "that's not right" but letting her try and envision the card and the lines on it. She seems to do much better with just a few days try. Definitely glad I invested in this the materials are all very sound and durable, I especially like the quality of the wood and the cards (laminated). Sand can be colored, which gives it more appeal for the younger ages. All in all, a great addition to our at-home montessori class room.

My wife majored in Chemistry and this is the best set she has ever seen. It is supposed to be one of the higher-end models, but it is much cheaper than the other brands that it is supposed to be compatible with.
We have a 5 year old son and we decided to get this set for his b-day. He LOVES it! It sticks together very well and doesn't fall apart when he drops it, but it is easy enough for him to pull apart and put away by himself. My wife said that she is a little jealous.
Definitely a good buy. 5 stars.

It does not keep his attention for very long but while it has his attention he enjoys himself.

Buy Large Mummy Excavation Kit
We have purchased several of these Dinosaur fossil dig kits in the past few years for our 7 year old daughter. She was given one for Christmas 2009 and her interest in Dinosaurs went through the roof. She has seen every movie or cartoon that has featured a dinosaur in it ever since then. We have probably purchased 10 or more of these kits here because our daughter loves them so much and we have even used these items as "rewards". Instead of a treat of some kind, break out a new fossil dig kit and instant excitement!
Great for tuning fine motor skills. This is not a toy that your child is going too put down immediately (if they like it). It is time consuming and can be quite a mess with all of the dust and rocks being chipped away but definitely worth the amount of money (and then some)as well as the time you spend on these. Different types and species are available so there is a pretty good selection out there for this type of product. As I said, our daughter was 5 when she got her 1st one and once she started chipping away at it and saw some progress, she never slowed down. She loves everything about dinosaurs and actually being able to dig these fossils out on her own, she has now declared that she is going to be a Paleontologist, Artist, Nurse! All at the same time!
Again, other than the messy dust, this is a great product. Of course without the dust and dirt, this could not possibly even exist. When she is inside at the table chipping away, I put newspaper down and a cookie sheet on top of the paper and then she can just go to town! Cleans up easily enough too! Great price for a very cool item!

This is a great book; fantastic voice-acting with lots of games and educational content. In less than two weeks, my son has logged over 4 hours in the book, according to the Leapfrog Learning Path summary. However, I want to take advantage of the supposed rewards and games that unlock with reading and doing activities. But this book doesn't even appear on the carousel for Rewards and Games in the Leapfrog Connect application. I tried updating the app, plugging in the reader off, plugging it in on, and contacted customer service. Their response was "Please be sure it is plugged-in." Epic fail Leapfrog CS! Great book but Leapfrog's support isn't worth two-cents.Honest reviews on LeapFrog LeapReader Book: Disney?Pixar Cars 2: Project Undercover

Reviews of LeapFrog Read and Sing Little Leap
My children, a 13 month old and a 32 month old, and admittedly, myself, LOVE this adorable little frog! The eldest received this toy for Christmas last year, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical looking at it in the packaging. So many electronic toys can be too loud, too tin-y sounding, and just overall annoying. Not this little guy. I find the volume to be an acceptable level, the voice is amazingly clear and easy to understand, and cute to boot. At less than 3 years old my daughter can sing the entire alphabet from start to finish without prompting thanks to Little Leap. I was going to detail all of the games that Little Leap can play, but as I took it out to inspect it, the 13 month old came over and grabbed it out of my hands so he could play with it! =) One of the most fought over toys in my house, and provides long periods of educational entertainment. Highly recommend for children ages 1-6 because it is cute and fun enough to catch the attention of a young child, but some of the games are advanced enough to hold the attention of an older child. Since receiving this toy, I have branched out to other Leap Frog toys for my children, and I have to say I recommend the whole line!
First the positive:
First it is educational. It provides the letters, phonic sounds and numbers. It also has the double sounds of the vowels. It has games that you can play that reinforce the learning. It is very cute. It sings songs. Both of my older children (age 4 and 2) enjoy this toy. It turns itself off with no use. This toy is really not very loud.
The not so positive:
It is not the clearest voice and sometimes I have a hard time understanding the letters. My son does not though. It also takes very little for it to come on, if you just bump one of the litle buttons, it comes on.
I'd say overall, that this is a quality toy that lives up to the Leap Frog name.
I look for toys that are fun and easy to play with. I look for toys that have more than a button to push to make a sound. I look for toys that are not too loud. I look for toys that encourage exploration of the world and encourage creativity.
Although this toy does not meet all of these requirements, it is a fun toy. It is one I would probably buy again.
Enjoy.
This toy is definately not a waste of money. It is played with more than it is ignored. We are very satisfied with Little Leap and our children are too!
To my amazement, this toy taught him all the letters of the alphabet well before he turned 2. After just a few months of playing with this toy, he could correctly point to any letter I named ("Where is X") and correctly name any letter I pointed to ("What is this?").
The song to teach each letter is the same, so to an adult the singing is rather repetitious. But this doesn't seem to bother children. After several months of play, a couple of the letters became hard to push, but that bothered me more than it did my son.
I was impressed with how effectively an electronic toy could teach such a young child. I never set out to teach my son the alphabet so early, he learned it all on his own by interacting with this toy.
Unfortunately the durabilty of this toy is poor. Don't hit the buttons hard enough and you won't get a response. Too hard and the toy can break. There is just too narrow a range between the two points. Still, it's an inexpensive toy so I don't mind having bought a second one.

Little Leap is not only cute but offers educational entertainment for our little ones. The nice part about this toy is that the older your child gets the more interesting Little Leap becomes. At three and a half our youngest still keeps Little Leap in active play which prevents him from moving to the bottom of the stuffed animal bin. Little Leap is great for car trips and we soometimes catch our six year old interacting with Little Leap. This toy is definately not a waste of money. It is played with more than it is ignored. Yes, I love toys that teach and I love this toy. Kids love music and songs and I think that that's the best way to teach. Froggie sings some catchy tunes while he teaches so the knowledge sticks. It also has a wonderful interactive feature that teaches while playing games. A nice response comes with a correct answer.Unfortunately the durabilty of this toy is poor. Review of Lamaze: Freddie the Firefly
We bought this for our daughter when she was just a couple months old. We showed her many different toys while shopping but this is the only one we got a reaction to. She loved it instantly.
We usually keep this toy reserved for when we go out. It has allowed us to eat peacefully at restaurants several times. Our daughter loves playing with the very colorful, crinkley wings, looking at the little mirror, and chewing on the teether. Freddie jingles when you shake him and there's also a squeeker in one of his wings.
An added bonus -he's washer/dryer friendly. We've washed and dried (on low heat) Freddie several times and he still looks like new.
But my son, who is now about four months old, loves Freddie. It melts my heart to see the smile on his face when he catches sight of his firefly friend. They have great times together; my son loves the crinkling of Freddie's wings, the sight of that happy green face, the feel of a rectangular teething link in his mouth (it's harder for him to position links that are ovals), and every wonderful feature Freddie has to offer.
I'm excited about upcoming Freddie-related events--like squeaker mastery, ladybug discovery, and mirror exploration. Who knew that a hyperactive firefly who looks like a butterfly could be so much fun?

When we received Freddie as a gift at a baby shower, I was skeptical, to say the least. The sight of this firefly alone was enough to destroy my attention span, I thought--Freddie has bright colors and tons of activities, and he makes different sounds (crinkling, clinking, and squeaking). But my son, who is now about four months old, loves Freddie. This toy is great! It has so much to do on it. Each one of the legs makes a noise (crinkles, rattles, squeaks etc) There is a mirror that the baby can lift to look at himself. Plus, there's a plus pocket on one wing that holds a teether that will dangle. Plenty of teethers/rings. We love this toy because it is bright, colorful and contains so many things to do! Highly recommended.Honest reviews on Lamaze: Freddie the Firefly
Our little 6-month old granddaughter loves this toy and we would rate it a "10" if we could! We were at a baby shower when Freddie was introduced to us. Our little one was being fussy and Freddie put an end to that. Her favorite thing is to chew on the antennas. She loves the rings to bite on (since she is teething) and loves the crinkling noise brings on the giggles! We just returned from a weekend trip and Freddie was a true "buddy" in the car! All we heard was the crinkling of the wings and some sucking noises but Freddie still had his antennas when we arrived at our destination 3-hours later! Freddie has earned all the "frequent flyer miles" he will ever need and we will NEVER leave home without him!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lamaze: Freddie the Firefly
My daughter has had this toy since she was 3 months old. She LOVES this toy it is absolutely her favorite. We don't go anywhere without it. Often, I hear her chewing or sucking on it when I am driving in the car. I know she is having fun because all I hear is crinkle, crinkle, crinkle from his wings.Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Recently my oldest son, 5 years old, received the new LeapPad from LeapFrog to review for free along with Disney Pixar Cars 2. The great thing about this learning tablet is that it takes the same cartridges as our Leapster Explorer. So when one boy isn't playing Disney Pixar Cars 2 on the LeapPad, he's playing it on the Leapster Explorer.
About the Game: In Disney Pixar Cars 2, children will join Mater and Lightening McQueen in a global race-turned-espionage tale. Along the way, children will practice measurements, problem-solving, graphs, sequencing and patterns.
I had to pry the game out of my son's hands to learn more about it to share with you. So that said, you can be sure he loved it on the LeapPad. And when he wasn't playing with Cars 2 on the LeapPad, my 4 year old was playing with it on the Leapster Explorer. But once I got my hands on it, I chose to play it on the LeapPad to share my thoughts with you.
From the Main Menu of the game there are 5 places to visit:
Adventure Mode: You drive around Radiator Springs finding collectibles. You can meet characters along the way to talk too. It lets you know when you can talk or stop somewhere. There are activities along the way, like customizing cars or keep Mater disguised using number sequencing. As you complete activities you can get badges.
Activity Mode: There looks like there are eight activities in this mode but two of ours were locked by the time I started playing. Activities in this mode include Airport Chase (matching, fine motor skills), Finn's Photo Mission (graphing), Secret Decoder (matching), Finn's Jump (fine motor skills, tracking), Oil Rig Chase (matching, reading signs, fine motor skills), Disguise Device (number sequencing).
Salvage Yard: Where collectibles from Radiator Springs adventure mode are stored.
Badges: The different badges earned.
Micromods: I haven't ever used micromods. You download them LeapWorld to change or enhance the game somehow. It could be new game music, character upgrades, game modes or moves, etc.
The only thing I was disappointed in was the packaging. I miss having a way to easily organize my games. I kept all previous Leapster Explorer Games in their boxes on a shelf, so the boys can easily find what they are looking for and put their games back. The new packaging has to be ripped apart to remove the game, leaving you with a loose game to easily misplace.
That is everything I discovered! Overall the game is pretty cute and I am impressed with the skills it's teaching. Cartridge games for Leapster Explorer and LeapPad usually retail for $24.99. If you find them less, it's a bargain.

I was shocked when my almost-4-year-old began playing this game! Mater the tow truck has to dodge machine gun bulllets from the car chasing him! This is completely inappropriate for young children! Exposing kids to gun violence in video games so early (or at all!) is part of a growing problem, especially in light of the recent school shootings. I was appalled that an educational toy would feature a game with machine gun violence. I had to take it away from my son and say goodbye to my $20.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Disney-Pixar Cars 2 (works
Just purchased this game for my son. He was so excited to begin playing! Unfortunately, we have just wasted our money as I have to get rid of the game. I was appalled to find that there is shooting in this game something that is not allowed in our home. I understand that not all homes have this rule, but sure would be nice if Leap Frog disclosed this in their game descriptions so that parents could make educated decisions about the games they are purchasing for their children.Saturday, September 6, 2014

I paid 10$ for it. For 10$ it is not bad. My daughter loves experimenting with it. The booklet has many diagrams to build and what should happen (e.g. the light will light up). What it is lacking is any type of explanation of the circuits, which is unfortunate. Some components are 'black box' components. For example, I have no idea how the FM radio component works, or the multi-colored flashing LED thing.Durability: the spinning fan thing gets damaged easily.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Band Set Review
My mom bought this for my son at 18 months and he LOVES it. The entire set is excellent quality and comes in a nice wooden crate (we use the crate for arts & crafts). My son is now a very accomplished Harmonica & flute player (he's now only 19 months) he can't get enough of these instruments. One thing to look out for though -the tip of the stick that you use for the xlyphone came off and I found my son eating it it is definitely a choking hazard I just took the stick away and tossed it in the garbage and he uses one of the other thick wooden sticks to play the xylophone and he hasn't missed a beat!
****UPDATE**** 5/8/08
It is now almost 3 years later and my son still plays with all of the instruments in this set. Looking back at all the toys we bought or he received as gifts, this is still one of his favorites and has helped foster his interest in music. I STILL highly recommend this set!!
Her favorite piece is the harmonica, which is pretty nice. The rest of the instruments are okay, but avoid this product of you are looking for a nice xylophone.
Modern toys are often "noisy".... they beep, they buzz, they play stupid songs and they provide little educational value. This great instrument set will provide kids with the "noise-making" that they crave, but with the educational value of actually making the noise on real instruments!
Parents, too, will have a hard time resisting the allure of these super-fun instruments. Your kids will be dingin' away on the triangle while you shake your thing with the maracas.... it'll provide interactive and fun play for years! Get some good CDs to accompany this set, while you're at it. A fun African CD (like Amadou and Mariam's "Dimanche a Bamako") will do the trick nicely, as most of these instruments are rhythm instruments that will fit in nicely with that highly rhythmic music.

It is now almost 3 years later and my son still plays with all of the instruments in this set. Looking back at all the toys we bought or he received as gifts, this is still one of his favorites and has helped foster his interest in music. I STILL highly recommend this set!!

I bought this for my 4-year old daughter's birthday because she really wanted a xylophone and this is the only one that I could find! The xylophone is, by far, the worst instrument in the whole set. The notes are way off tune and the sound is muffled. Her favorite piece is the harmonica, which is pretty nice. The rest of the instruments are okay, but avoid this product of you are looking for a nice xylophone.

Talk about bang for your buck! 17 high-quality instruments for only 30 dollars? It doesn't get much better than this!Modern toys are often "noisy".... they beep, they buzz, they play stupid songs and they provide little educational value.
Honest reviews on Melissa & Doug Deluxe Band Set
This musical set was originally intended as a Christmas purchase, but I could not resist giving this as an early present. When it arrived in the mail, we opened it immediatly. I was pleasantly surprised with both the quality and quantity represented in this set. We are already having such a great time using these instruments! The kazoo is a favorite! With so much variety to choose from, our little dancer may never stop playing. I love the quality workmanship and the cultural span of the various instruments. Our 2-year-old loves marching in "parades", dancing and singing to the beat of favorite songs. This colorful set inspires get-up-and-dance energy for both adult and child! I am one very satisfied customer.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Melissa & Doug Deluxe Band Set
My son suggested that I buy this for my 2 3/4 year old granddaughter for Christmas. I was very disappointed with it. The xylophone, which really ought to be the main music maker was awful. It should have been made of metal and should have been capable of playing a scale (the key of C Major). But then the recorder was terrible too. You can't play a tune on it either. The little plastic recorders for around $4 or $5 that the kids in elementary school use can at least make music. This can't. And the kazoo broke. The other parts were fine. Percussion is percussion. If it were my choice, I would return it. My son seems to think it's satisfactory "good enough for a 2 year old." I don't agree. Had I seen it first, I wouldn't have bought it.
