My little guy turned 6 and for his birthday we ordered this. He loved getting a package delivered to him. He was excited to set-up his own ant farm and watches the ants with facination. He drags the neighborhood kids (and anyone who is willing) in to look at his ants! When he comes home from school he goes right to the ants to see what new tunnels they have made. Once my son got the hang of the joystick with the "Leap Frog" toddler video I was eager to move on to some familiar faces thinking he would really get into the interactive play. But Dora (or as I described in my review title, Bora) was disappointing. My son wandered off to do other things until he heard it was time to push a button or move the joystick. There is a storyline like like the television show but it is sooooo slow with little interaction.

I gave this 1 star for fun because as I said, both my son (2 yrs old) and I found this to be boring.

I gave it 3 stars for educational value because I don't feel that my son really learned much from it. He already knows his numbers and knows animal names. What I was hoping for most from Dora was more Spanish as I am trying to ease my son into learning the language but there were only a few words. It was mostly numbers in Spanish...which I already know and can teach him myself.

I gave it 1 star for durability because, well...it is a dvd. My son could easily break that if he got his hands on it. Sure it is in a case but has that ever stopped a toddler before?

I say if you want to get a toddler Little Leaps dvd to start with the LeapFrog one called "Leap Ahead".

I purchased Dora and the Thomas Little Leaps dvds at an incredible price. Hopefully Thomas will be better. But I am glad I didn't pay full price!

My 9 year-old son who's really into gems and minerals received this for Christmas. Great gift! There's instant gratification with the "crystal mine," one of those dig it type activities, and fun watching different colored "gems" (simple crystal formations) grow on a rock which you supply. This takes about a week. My son has a collection of these crystal formations displayed in his room. With adult help and supervision, a child as young as 6 or 7 could have fun with this kit. One caution, though. My younger son accidentally spilled the green growing solution which contains a huge amount of coloring. Though we were able to clean it up, it was a big mess on the granite counter, wall, and tile floor. Next time we chose a container with a lid. Overall, a very cool gift, and different than anything I was able to find locally.

I bought these for my 3 year old niece as my sister said she was going through a phase where she was making music instruments out of everything (think banging on pots and pans). I first saw this in '98 at the gym and it immediately motivated me. Everytime I went to the gym I could not help but stare before and after working out. It became one of my biggest reasons to return. The biggest problem I had in my traveling discussion series "Fat, not with a P.H." was the transportation of the fat itself. It was very difficult to keep fresh, and would begin to dissipate over time, leaving me with Tupperware containers that looked more like orange sherbet that had been left out to melt.

My speeches are meant to uplift and enlighten, and I found more and more people either being put off by the smell (I can't even begin to describe it, but imagine if your colon was trying to win a "who can go the longest without showering" contest), or simply mesmerized by the sheer sight of the clumps of fat sitting on the podium, literally sliding away under the spotlights like a pat of butter on a hot griddle.

Using fat in demonstrations is unhealthy and rather offensive, I've come to find out. And when someone told me about these replicas, I was simply amazed. First off, they look like the real thing, if memory serves. All I have now is an orange stain on my passenger seat to go by (note to all, crack a window on those hot days if you're going shopping and leaving your demo fat in the car). Secondly, although they offer no value on those long "no time to turn off to get a bite" trips, the end result is a firm, and much easier to handle sample (which has helped tremendously during the "hot fat potato" portion of my seminar where the group gathers in a circle and tosses the fat from person to person).

One down point is the color. It is very appetizing, and a few of my more zoftig followers have asked if it was an actual food product. (luckily, I keep the "sherbet" close at hand for those moments.)

This is the only product I recommend. I was let down considerably when I was ready to begin my seminars on childhood obesity, and ordered a catalog from a company called "Baby Phat." Trust me, they do not offer the selection that this company provides. From now on, this is my one-stop shop for all my fake fat needs.

Overall, if you're in the market for fake fat, go with this product. And if I may suggest a more marketable name..

My wife works in the health/wellness/weight loss field, and this is just the ticket, to illustrate what 5 pounds of ugly fat looks like. If your goal is to show people what 5 pounds of fat, all in one ugly lump looks like, this is your product.

It isn't the easiest thing to clean, as it has an uneven 'rubbery' type surface, that seems to catch and hold dirt/grime, but warm soapy water seems to do the job.

These worked well especially with an Elmo to project their image on a white board. The bright colors also made for a better visual. The tray would have been nice to help keep things aligned when demonstrating equivalent fractions but it really isn't needed. It didn't work too hot on the spider my son tried to get off the ceiling. If the bug has some grab on something or you don't have the right angle, it's not as successful at sucking up the bug. If you need to grab tiny crickets out of the corner of the cricket bin, this does a stellar job!
