My 9 year old son got this for Christmas. He had requested a "science set", so this was Santa's interpretation. I was a little scared that it was going to be a flop or that it was not going to be what he was thinking, but he loves it! We were mixing up slime on Christams morning! The directions are very easy to follow. Everything you need is in the kit. There are alternative directions for mixing one of the main ingredients that you use for all the slimes that calls for rubbing alcohol, but other than that, it has it all. Everything is clearly labeled. So far we've made the magnetic slime and the color changing slime and I've been very impressed. Very fun,easy and educational.

If you're just staining or something it would probably be adequate. Do NOT, however, try to use it to clean things in piranha solution, as I did. The will get clean, sort of, maybe enough for you, but if for semiconductor uses look elsewhere. Polypropylene is resistant to h2so4 and h2o2 but not impervious and as such it will potentially contaminate your substrate. Those are extreme conditions though, normal use seems okI like that the handle slips out for varried uses. A small ridge on the outer sides would be good for gripping in those uses.

Cheap Learning Resources Perfect Pointer
I purchased the Perfect Pointer after my five year old saw a similar one at her school book fair and came home bragging that Santa was going to bring her a 'hand on a stick' so she could be the teacher at home. She loves it. The hand lights up red, green, and blue at the touch of a button on the handle, and there are multiple sounds including clapping, laughing, yeah's and ooooooh's, etc, that keep her interest while she is 'teaching' her nine year old sister during playtime. The Learning Resources Hand Pointers, Set of 3 are interchangeable, and best of all, there's an On/Off/Volume knob to save battery power when it's not in use, and parent's sanity when it is in use. The plastic feels thick and construction quality seems high. With appropriate use I think it will last a long time. Of course, if you have boys you'll want to make sure they don't use it as a smackdown stick ;-)

GARBAGE! Yes, the features of this product are great. My students loved the look and sounds of the pointer. HOWEVER, within one week of use (by me, the teacher) the arm (the red part) has broken from the base (blue part). To be honest, I wasn't sure how my kids would react to this toy. I didn't know if it would hold their attention or not. So I was quite surprised to see them all sitting around it and sharing it between the three of them. (My kids are currently 5, 4 and 3.) But they sure do love it. And they seem to have discovered all the functions of the top pretty easily. I have been especially surprised with how durable the thing is. Mind you, with three kids under 6, for them to automatically stand up and start running around and dropping this thing every other minute I am glad that it can hold up to their ways. After hearing reports of other products having issues with broken slides, poor samples, etc. I was hoping this would be better. Indeed it is way beyond my expectations...no broken slides, everyone is a very well prepared AND mounted specimen. I did have to take a blower brush to a couple to remove some dust but not a big deal. Box is nice and slides fit well...and they were already in their correct slots...not mixed up. I didn't find any blah slides..in fact many are outstanding and lots of fun to study and view the intricate and beautiful detail. Spent an enjoyable couple of days going through all 100 of them and photographing my favorites. I also noticed they didn't try the easy way out of slippping in a bunch of easy for them, non-interesting to us specimens. There are a couple but even they are OK.
So final recommendation....excellent choice for a sample collection that covers a wide range of fields.

While you can certainly prepare your own slides (and we have), it's hard to get them quite as thin as needed to limit as much detail as possible to a single focal plane... basically this means if you just throw stuff on a blank slide, it's hard to get much of it in focus, as the microscope wants to focus on as narrow a plane as possible.Obviously, it's not an issue with prepared slides; more, there are some pretty interesting choices, though don't expect a wide spectrum of colors from this set. Many are limited to a small pallette (lots of red) but structurally there is a lot of variation.
Glad we purchased.

The tumbler works great and the price compared to other tumblers of the same capacity is good. I have been using mine for tumbling brass for reloading with stainless pins and water. I couldn't ask for better performance for dirty brass. The only drawback at all is the lid and how it is retained. The lid fits in a recess in the drum and a large worm screw clamp secures it. It can be a little difficult to insert at times but once seated and clamped I haven't had a drop of water come out yet. Also not any real issue but the drum needs to laid in the rollers with the lid of the drum opposite of the motor side. I had it hand up a couple of times the other way but no issue when turned away. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if the need comes up.

My wife majored in Chemistry and this is the best set she has ever seen. It is supposed to be one of the higher-end models, but it is much cheaper than the other brands that it is supposed to be compatible with.
We have a 5 year old son and we decided to get this set for his b-day. He LOVES it! It sticks together very well and doesn't fall apart when he drops it, but it is easy enough for him to pull apart and put away by himself. My wife said that she is a little jealous.
Definitely a good buy. 5 stars.

The Magic Circle trampoline was a Christmas gift to my grandchildren. They love it because it is fun. Their parents and I love it because it is safe and gives them hours of good exercise. It is very attractive, too.
Our one complaint is with the advertised "ease of assembly". The instructions are worthless. My Son-in-law had to call the company for help and, even then, the process was long and very difficult, requiring tremendous strength.

This math kit is a parent initiated activity and can be fun. I introduced to it to my 2nd grader and we played for an hour.
The workbook is great but again needs parent involvement. So if you can't spend the time it is not a good idea.
The child wraps a string around the numbered plastic strip. The equation is on one side and the answer is on the back. As the string goes around the child has a chance to think about the answer then find it and match it correctly. It helps to have at least two at a time doing this, then it's a completion and a contest. Use it with a child that needs a hands-on approach to learning. But remember you need to be involved.

I got these for my 6 yr old. He loves these and couldn't put them down the first day they arrived. He loves the timed exercises and coloring in the chart for successful practices. My 5 year old son got this for christmas 2010. Not only was he excited because it's sponge bob, but it's so educational for him! It's great for car rides and to take when we know we're going to have to wait for an appointment somewhere. We also have a 1 year old and she will throw this when you tell her she can't have it.....so i can rate the durability of this too....there is not a scratch on it! My son was DEMANDING that I get him the frilled lizard and so for a special reward I went ahead and ordered this. Little did I think that he would freak out. The toy is great quality, and looks almost life size. The problem is that it looks to realistic for my four year old. I use this material in my Montessori classroom, and there is rarely a time when there is not a child using it. When introducing it to a child, I teach them to find the "1" and then follow the arrows and I insist upon the importance of always tracing the numbers in the correct directions. It's the perfect follow-up to the tactile sandpaper numbers, because it adds the skill of holding a writing utensil when tracing, while still providing guides and the magnets as an extra attention grabber. I also have the kids "erase" the magnets with their finger the same way the traced them, so they get that extra sensory experience as well as double practice with tracing each number. My only complaint is that the magnet pen is a little bit too strong, and sometimes pulls up magnets that are not right under it. This means that sometimes the whole number gets completed without the child having to drag the pen all the way around. This is especially an issue with the number 8. I just implore the kids to make sure they trace the whole number, even if it tries to finish itself first! Overall, I love this material and so do the kids.

I had trouble with my son wanting to practice writing. This made it a little more fun and he was willing to practice. Also, these are good in the car or on the airplane. They're really portable. However, we did manage to lose the pen. After searching the internet, I discovered that the manufacturer planned for this problem. If you go to kidoproducts.com, you can purchase replacement pens for $3 each. You simply have to click on products and then buy now and the pen comes right up. You can use paypal so you don't have to worry about the site. I am very pleased with this toy and the customer service who walked me through the process quickly. I bought this for my four year old son (three at the time) per recommendation of his preschool teachers. Another child had brought this toy in & he enjoyed playing with it for a while. It is great for teaching him to write his numbers....as long as we don't lose the magnetic pen...which we recently have.The only cons I have found are that sometimes a few of the magnetic balls get stuck & won't go back down which frustrated my kids when they want to "rewrite" their number. I think this has only happened to 2 balls in the year & a half we have owned this. My twin 2 year old girls also enjoy playing with this but if they aren't bring shown how to "write" with the pen, they just scribble & pull the magnetic balls up randomly, which may defeat the educational value of learning to write, but at 2 years old it is actually encouraging to hold a pen & work on their fine motor skills. This is a great educational toy but don't expect your kids to be writing numbers on paper after playing with this for a few hours!

I bought this for my son to go with the ABC's tablet that he already had from this company. He's two and a half and in playing with it, I can tell that he feels a sense of accomplishment when he gets all the little balls to come up, so it seems like a good tool for building his confidence. If you're looking for a device that will teach children to write numbers properly, I don't think this is it. While it does have some educational value, they don't have to drag the stylus in the proper direction to get results. It is a fun and creative means for getting them more excited about numbers though. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that a couple of the magnetic balls don't come up on it. Also, I wish that they offered replacement styluses because it's very difficult to keep track of them!
