This math kit is a parent initiated activity and can be fun. I introduced to it to my 2nd grader and we played for an hour.
The workbook is great but again needs parent involvement. So if you can't spend the time it is not a good idea.
The child wraps a string around the numbered plastic strip. The equation is on one side and the answer is on the back. As the string goes around the child has a chance to think about the answer then find it and match it correctly. It helps to have at least two at a time doing this, then it's a completion and a contest. Use it with a child that needs a hands-on approach to learning. But remember you need to be involved.

I got these for my 6 yr old. He loves these and couldn't put them down the first day they arrived. He loves the timed exercises and coloring in the chart for successful practices. The lessons in the book are pretty basic, but over all this is a great tool for mastering these important facts. We love it!!
