The Barbie microphone works well. Plays 2 Barbie songs and connects to ipod great.

My 3 year old daughter loves it. However, it is not what we ordered. The description stated that it was a "barbie PRINCESS AND POPSTAR" microphone. What we received is a "Barbie I can be..." microphone. TOTALLY different songs. I don't like the song on this one. "I'm a barbie girl, in a barbie world" ?? I enjoy the Princess and Popstar songs -and I fell they are more fitting for a little girl. We will keep this one but disappointed.

My grand daughter loves this microphone! You can play song(s) and sing along or just use it as a microphone. After hearing reports of other products having issues with broken slides, poor samples, etc. I was hoping this would be better. Indeed it is way beyond my expectations...no broken slides, everyone is a very well prepared AND mounted specimen. I did have to take a blower brush to a couple to remove some dust but not a big deal. Box is nice and slides fit well...and they were already in their correct slots...not mixed up. I didn't find any blah slides..in fact many are outstanding and lots of fun to study and view the intricate and beautiful detail. Spent an enjoyable couple of days going through all 100 of them and photographing my favorites. I also noticed they didn't try the easy way out of slippping in a bunch of easy for them, non-interesting to us specimens. There are a couple but even they are OK.

So final recommendation....excellent choice for a sample collection that covers a wide range of fields.

While you can certainly prepare your own slides (and we have), it's hard to get them quite as thin as needed to limit as much detail as possible to a single focal plane... basically this means if you just throw stuff on a blank slide, it's hard to get much of it in focus, as the microscope wants to focus on as narrow a plane as possible.

Obviously, it's not an issue with prepared slides; more, there are some pretty interesting choices, though don't expect a wide spectrum of colors from this set. Many are limited to a small pallette (lots of red) but structurally there is a lot of variation.

Glad we purchased.

The slides are very nice, but the box is not "fine crafted." One of the slide columns is too wide so none of the slides on that side stay in the slots. If I could get a new box, I'd be happy.

Math was a subject that I always dreaded when I was in school. Teachers made it boring and never seemed to thoroughly explain the process. When my own children started school, I wanted to ensure that Math was an enjoyable subject for them. I have tried the traditional flash cards and workbooks but the kids seemed to despise the activities after a few sessions.

Over this past summer, my kids attended the E.S.P. program provided by our local elementary school while I worked. They did a lot of educational activities with the kids but it's normal for students to lose some of what they had learned the previous year. My oldest son started the 3rd grade this year and I knew they'd soon be diving into multiplication as well as division. He had a good grasp of his math facts at the end of 2nd grade but over the summer, I noticed he had lost some of the quickness.

We let the kids choose at least one activity every evening as a family event. After the game arrived, my youngest wanted to play POP for Addition and Subtraction simply based on the fact that he thought it was a real gumball game. When he found out that there was some math involved, he actually became even more excited to play. He loved collecting as many gumballs as possible. By the end of the game, he was flying through the facts and I was impressed that his critical thinking skills had increased tremendously. He was quickly recognizing that 4+3 was the same as 3+4 and so on.

There are two levels of play as well as several alternative ways to make the game more fun and challenging based on your child's skill level! In Level 1, each player spins the spinner and removes that number of gumballs from the box. Each fact correctly solved is kept while incorrect answers result in "un-popped" cards that are placed in a separate pile. If a "POP!" card is drawn, all gumballs earned are returned to the box. The game ends when all gumballs are drawn from the box. The player with the most gumballs wins!

Level 2 helps test older children's skills by requiring each player to name 1, 2 or 3 math facts (determined by the spinner) to name math facts that have identical sums as the gumball drawn from the box. For example, if a 2+2 is drawn, the sum is 4 so to keep the gumball, correct answers would be 6-2, 8-4, 3+1, etc.

Alternative manners of play could include a timer, first player to 10 gumballs wins or even use the "POP!" card to take the other players' gumballs! Add your own variations to make it even more fun! We plan on keeping this game until my youngest son has the math skills mastered and then we'll donate the game to the school to help others!

My 5 year old may just have started Kindergarten, but I can tell already he is going to need a push to do homework and learn. He is definitely smart but also lazy so I know I have to be creative when coming up with "homework" practice for him. Right now I use incentives, like candy and iPad time for him to work on worksheets but that is only going to last so long.

The Learning Resources "POP for Addition" game is a fun way to get kids to work on math problems while playing a game! It includes 90 addition and subtraction problems on little cardboard gum balls and then 10 POP cards for a spin on the game. To play you spin the spinner and pick 1-3 gumballs to solve. For each one you solve you keep, putting the others aside to practice later. The goal of the game of course is to collect the most gumballs. The POP cards allow you to put a spin on the game, with suggestions for gameplay on the box. Everything stores nicely in the sturdy cardboard box. Its funny how something so simple can be so appealing to kids. The gumballs (cards) are bright and perfectly sized for little hands. This is definitely a fun way for kids 6 and up (or sooner if you want to start) to start working on their math problems!

I bought the Animal family photos for my granddaughter at the time she was one. The first attraction was the animal sounds, then she was relating the animals to the sounds they make to identifing the animal by name. My granddaughter is two now and she sure knows her animals. The little tidbits about the animals are good and easy for little ones to understand. Of course she has her favorite animals she loves to listen too. I got this as a gift for my 8yo daughter to help her with her handwriting based on its description. Unfortunately she hasn't been using it as she says it doesn't recognize when she's trying to write on it per the screen. Cheap Lauri Locktagons

I looked at several toys like this one for my daughter. She is 3, loves to build, but is not quite big enough to do Legos with her older sister. I decided on this because it is made in the USA and none of the others like it were.

I am surprised at how much use we have gotten out of it. Not only will she sit and build structures, but both kids use the pieces for other imaginative play as well. Food for baby dolls, money at the store, and more.

They were a good buy for the price and I do not regret buying them.

I also bought a second set of lockagons that were only hexagons and a different bendy material. At first I was disappointed that they were different materials, but it turns out that it has added to the fun and I'm glad I got those too!

Bought this for our kindergartener and preschooler for christmas.

They are quite durable but because the plastic is so hard it can be difficult to place them perfectly where the child wants. Could be a little frustrating at times for the younger child. My kindergartener even became a little frustrated at times. They both still enjoy playing with them though.

I bought this for my younger son. I've been playing for 20+ years and remembered that the nylon string guitars were easier on the fingers. Because there's no value in turning my son off to music, this feature is important. (Another reviewer points out that it doesn't stay in tune; that's true, but if memory serves, it should get better over time as they stretch).

When compared to other units, this is great. The finish is nice. It sounds nice, too (although my fingers are too big!!) My particular guitar is a classical style and the tuners are adequate. I may or may not work on it a bit more as other reviewers have but mine is pretty darn good, right out of the box. The only issue is the low E can bounce off the first fret but that's only if you're trying to make that happen. Or playing like Mr. Townsend, I suppose.

UPDATE: We gave this to my son at Christmas. It's now March and the nylon strings have largely stabilized; they aren't going out of tune nearly as much. I should point out that more frequent tunings would likely shorten this waiting period significantly; I may have tuned it 5 times since Christmas (my son isn't at the point where he cares about pitch). Even so, I think the trade-off (ease of playing vs. tuning issues) is worth it.

CLARIFICATION (7-18-2012): There seems to be some confusion about nylon strings vs. steel strings. Nylon strings are either entirely nylon (or, for the lower pitched strings, a nylon core with a metal wound exterior). Steel strings are made of, well, steel with the lower pitched strings including an additional metal wound exterior. The tension required to produce a given pitch is much less with nylon. Because the tension is higher with steel, guitars constructed for use with steel strings have (or should have) different structural characteristics to support the greater forces. For this reason, one should not put steel strings on a guitar made for nylon (there are other reasons, too). Moreover, nylon inherently changes its structure in a way that causes it to lose some tension over time, particularly when first installed. This is the primary reason why they go out of tune more often and when new. On the other hand, steel strings are both smaller in diameter and have the aforementioned higher tension, so the force required to push down on the strings is both higher and over less area making for more stress on the fingers. In my opinion, nylon strings are better for kids because I can mitigate the tuning issues easier than the discomfort.

NOTE (7-18-2012): In general, if there are long slots in the head (the top) with the tuning machine knobs pointing to the back, it's a "classical guitar" and has nylon strings. If the head is smooth with the tuning machine knobs off to the side, it's for steel strings.

My 8 year old loves this guitar! She had a steel string guitar that he played on occasionally, but her time with it was always short, as the strings hurt her fingers. Not so with this nylon-stringed beauty! She is able to 'play' longer, and more comfortably.

It is well constructed, and well worth the price. Nylon strings will stretch more, so they will require frequent tunings for a while, but will settle out eventually.

Would definately recommend as a kids' guitar! (up to teenagerthen a 36", or so, is a better fit)

I thought that this would be a good guitar for someone I know who has small hands. It isn't bad in general, but we have had one problem with it. It refuses to stay in tune long enough to play more than one song. And the tuning pins seems to slip a little. It must be tuned so frequently that this has become rather frustrating. Perhaps it just needs more time for the strings to settle in, but my other guitars are not this difficult to keep in tune. If you can deal with the tuning problem, I guess it would be a good beginner's guitar. For what I paid for it, I guess you can't complain. I suppose you could say that it's good for a beginner to have to do frequent tuning and that way he learns very quickly the notes of each open string! Just be aware that if you would be frustrated by frequent tuning, this one may not be for you.

I bought this for my six year old daughter, knowing that it was probably a decent guitar body with cheap hardware ( and knowing a little about tweaking guitars helped too ) i got this this for cheap. the reviews are pretty much right on, it has trouble staying in tune and for the last few weeks has been lying in the corner, silent. It sounded really muted and cruddy, like it had tissues stuffed inside of it. Well, I knew eventually i would get around to seeing what can be done for very little money to make this thing sound better. First thing i did was to swap out the tuners with the lowest cost gotoh I could get online, (pretty decent tuner for seventeen bucks) and got rid of the loose floppy apperatus that was supposed to be doing the job of holding the strings in tune. I did have to drill out the pegholes to enlarge them a fraction of an inch, for the new tuners to fit, spacing was the same but the new pegs were a tad fatter. just a little, used a hand drill and a 3/8 bit. I also swapped out the el cheapo factory strings with some already broken in d'addario's from my yamaha classical. While i had it torn down, remedied the high action with a saddle sanding and a little filing on the zero fret. Yep, it has a zero fret, not a prob. After getting the action where i thought best i tuned it up and i must say it sounds like a completlely different instrument that it did before. Buy it and use the net to learn how to set it up right. Sounds pretty awesome now.

I received the item very quickly. It took no set up, accept for removing a piece of plastic from where the battery is located (I'm assuming this is for the clock portion). The blades started spinning the second I removed it from the box. Looks great! & It doesn't have the logo on it like it does on the picture, which I was very happy about as well. It has a solar panel on 3 sides.

Not very cost effective, but super cool.

The good The crystal was a nice size, and the entire range of colors of oxide were present. The formation of the colors was very nice, and that isn't always an easy thing to accomplish The crystal came in a nice little gift box, which is definitely nice enough to reuse for a future gift-giving adventure.

The bad Upon closer inspection, I noticed several hairline fractures in the crystal formation. Additionally, most of the crystal formations were warped and bent. The formations were large for a crystal of this size, but the warping really took away from the product.

The ugly In two areas on opposite ends of the crystal, bits of slag/bismuth oxide were present. In a proper environment, this should never happen. It really makes the product come off as unprofessional.

The verdict It's very possible the crystal I received was a fluke, bismuth crystals are not the easiest things to make. This particular crystal is going to be melted down with the rest of my bismuth and reformed, hopefully it'll become a more aesthetically pleasing crystal in it's next iteration.

Final note I've ordered another crystal from this seller, and I'm hopeful that the next one will be better. I'll update this review once that crystal has come in and I have a chance to look it over.
