Buy Kartell 235314-0001 Microscope Slide Staining Rack, 25 Slide, 3.13"
If you're just staining or something it would probably be adequate. Do NOT, however, try to use it to clean things in piranha solution, as I did. The will get clean, sort of, maybe enough for you, but if for semiconductor uses look elsewhere. Polypropylene is resistant to h2so4 and h2o2 but not impervious and as such it will potentially contaminate your substrate. Those are extreme conditions though, normal use seems okI like that the handle slips out for varried uses. A small ridge on the outer sides would be good for gripping in those uses.

Discount VTech - V.Smile Smartridge: Shrek 2
V Tech V.Smile Smartridge: Shrek 2
I bought this game for my son who just turned five because I thought it may be challenging for him. He loves the SpongeBob game which is also age 6 to 8 and it has lasted him a very long time and provided lots of entertainment. So I thought I should go for the 6 to 8 range again but this is a little different from SpongeBob. This is like a role-playing game and Shrek can be difficult to maneuver sometimes, especially for a child.... it's tough for me sometimes and I'm an adult! Shrek doesn't seem to be where it looks like he is in the game. For instance there is a game with a dragon that breathes fire balls and you have to shoot at the correct fireball but you can't touch the fireball or else you get hurt. It was almost impossible for me to get the correct angle in order to shoot these fireballs without touching them and it was more frustrating than anything. It always "looked" like Shrek was in the right place, but then you shoot and it's going nowhere near the target.
When first playing the game I thought it may be too difficult for him and was a little worried but after playing for one day, he beat almost every game on there and on the 2nd day he beat all of them.
Another thing that was kind of disappointing was that most of the games just repeat everything over again in the exact same order every time... So if he doesn't actually learn the things it's asking you to do, it doesn't matter because he just memorizes the answers and wins that way.
Some games are so short that you only had to play it once to memorize all the answers which seems kind of ridiculous.
I also thought the graphics would be much better.
So this was a fun game but only the first time.

My son loved playing with his V Tech, even after we got his Wii. I liked the fact that V Tech made learning fun. My son loved doing the math cartridges the most, but enjoyed playing all the games. It's really hard to get children to enjoy learning, but who doesn't love Shrek, Batman, and Thomas!Best Deals for VTech - V.Smile Smartridge: Shrek 2

I bought these on the recommendation of a friend whose son is now 9 months for my then 2 mo old (now 3 1/2 months). I was a little put off by the price because for some reason, I thought they were playing card sized, when they arrived they are about the size of a paperback or DVD package, and very sturdy and thick. My son loves to look at these and will follow them with his eyes and by turning his head. I had borrowed some black and white books by Tana Hoban for infants from the library which have solid shapes in black and white and my son couldn't care less about those images.
As far as the garden collection, I am sure that it doesn't matter to the baby which set you choose, but you will get use out of these and they seem to be substantial enough to be passed on to another child.
I also used these cards for his first wall pictures in his room. I scanned a few cards, then blew them up and printed them and put them in some small white PB frames I had. He loves to look at them from his crib and changing table. Again short lived. I'll probably replace the prints with something more colorful in a few months time. But it's cheap to print and it was worth the effort to have my 1 month old stare contentedly at art while I changed him.

Got these cards before my son now 3 months was born. Well worth the price if you have an extra 12 bucks to spend! He won't be interested in these simple b/w images for much longer, so their usefulness is very short lived. But these were the first images he was interested in and the first thing that he could track 180 degrees (moved his head all the way from right to left side, following the cards). I sing "old mcDonald" with him and the 6 cards. Not many cards, but just right for teh attention span of an infant. His eyes get big and he focuses on each card with intensity. I think it's not only the simple B/w images that keep his attention, but the cards are just big enough to block his view of other competing objects that he likes to look at (such as Mommy, or the ceiling light).I also used these cards for his first wall pictures in his room. These cards are perfect for keeping the attention of your newborn. I have a little 8 week old and I've been using these cards in his crib since he was 5 weeks old. He loves to just stare at them and observe them when he's having his tummy time or if he's just laying on his back. The contrast of the colors are perfect. I love that they are reverse colors on the other side. If he gets tired of looking at one side you just flip the card over and there's the same image but in different shades. It's great! And the cards are very durable they are not easily bendable and if they happen to get dirty they wipe off quite easily. I've gotten two other sets for him.Honest reviews on Wee Gallery Art Cards for Baby
These cards are wonderful for young babies. My baby started looking at these at around 6 weeks oldlong before he was interested in any toys. We hung them up over his changing table and he was totally mesmerized. They are perfect for bringing along when you leave the house to keep small babies entertained. They hardly take up any room in a diaper bag or purse. At 2 or 3 months, my baby would happily stare at them through a whole meal at a restaurant. Now, at 4 months, he likes to pick them up and chew on them. They are holding up amazingly well. They're made out of a thick sturdy cardboard, like board book pages. I highly recommend these.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Wee Gallery Art Cards for Baby
I had heard that newborns can only see black and white images. We put the pictures alongside our changing table--eye level for our baby. I am not kidding that he looked at them the 2nd day he was home from the hospital. It seemed to keep him "busy" (well, as busy as a newborn can be) while i took care of the changing business. Also very cute! Even have a second pair to tote around.Tuesday, December 2, 2014

This is a decent globe, especially considering the low price range. I had read other reviews saying it wasn't super accurate and cities were mislabeled but even if true, that didn't bother me; I wasn't looking for anything to navigate the world with.
The piece is well made and yes, some of the lines don't exactly match up at the equator (off about 1/16") but everything else is great; no mislabeled citites that I found, colors are bright, topography is high enough.
The stand is indeed lighter weight (thin metal) but I have had no problems with the globe tipping over. It also spins very well. Just make sure to check the screw on the bottom to retighten as necessary. A little locktite works great.Didn't get to see actual product, was a gift. Based selection on reviews other people had given. Recipient said it was all right .

Reviews of Brinsea EcoGlow Brooder for Chicks or Ducklings
I've been using this for the last year and a half, brooding six rounds of chicks. The good news is that you're going to save a lot of electricity --about $11 per four week period (which is about how long chicks need it) at our energy prices of 12.3 cents/kwh. So, brood six sets of chicks and the ecoglow brooder has paid for itself.
The other good news is that you won't risk burning down your coop. We almost started a fire once when our heat lamp fell in the bedding. Another time, rain splashed onto a different bulb, causing it to explode --if we hadn't noticed that, our chicks would have died without a heat source. This brooder just keeps plugging along.
There are a few slight downsides. First, within a week, your chicks will learn to jump up on top. They'll love sitting there, and the brooder will get coated in manure, which you'll have to carefully clean off without submerging the heating unit.
The brooder has three height settings, but you need to be very careful when taking the legs off to change heights. I have a feeling that six or ten height changes will be enough to make the plastic legs break, so I usually step up the height by setting the legs on bricks instead.
The final downside is that chicks fresh from the incubator won't dry off enough under one of these if your interior temperature is below about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Most of you probably keep your houses warmer than that, though, and once your chicks are a few days old, the ecoglow is enough for them down into the forties.
Those caveats aside, this is the best product I've found for brooding chicks. I will get another one when mine breaks.
My chicks are still under 3-weeks old, so they aren't fully feathered. My brooder box is in an unheated, uninsulated shed in Montana--so the chicks surely need heat. The chicks seem happy and and growing. During the day the chicks are frequently out from under the brooder, eating, drinking, and exercising. At night they are cuddled up under the brooder (I assume). It's very similar to chicks being raised by a broody hen (sans an old hen teaching the chicks about their world).
Edited:
Since the original chicks, this brooder has now been used for a second batch of chicks and is now heating two Runner Ducklings.
A couple days ago, I was sure I was going to lose a chick. It was so weak and not recovering well. I put it under this thinking when I lifted it to peek it was going to be dead for sure. Nope.. it was exactly right and the little dude is running around healthy and happy now. Very pleased with this item!!!

I've raised chicks under 250W and 100W bulbs. I'm so happy I've found this Brinsea EcoGlow! At under 20W there are significant energy (MONEY) savings--even with a CFL on a timer to give the chicks a day/night schedule. Also important to keep in mind is the significant reduction in fire hazards! The brooder heat surface does not get hot enough to ignite pine shavings. My chicks are still under 3-weeks old, so they aren't fully feathered. I use the heat panels for my Cockatiels and other small parrot species I mount them on the outside of my weaning cages or use them in plastic tubs as brooder heaters they use very little energy, are safea great alternative for more expensive parrot brooders. They are super easy to clean too. They don't get too hot you can put your hand on the surface without getting burned it simulates the body temperature that would come from a mother henthere is no light that would disturbe the day/night rythm of the birds and the cable is long enough to reach almost anywhere. I used these in my chicken coop, for sick pet birds, for tiny baby cockatiels in pin feathers and I have even given one to an elderly family friend who needed a reliable and energy efficient foot heater that would not burn down her house if in use 24/7 nor cost her too much in electricity ( not sure if brinsea intended this kind of use ...)Honest reviews on Brinsea EcoGlow Brooder for Chicks or Ducklings
This brooder is perfect for my chicks! Right after they are born, I scoot them under it on the lowest setting and they hang out for about 12-18 hours resting from the energy it took to peck their way out of the egg. Then when they decide to come out, they are fluffy and just cute as can be. I have lost chicks under heat lamps even with the thermometer. I like this so much more. If I want to see how a newborn is doing, I lift it up and peek. That is probably the only downside to this is there is no way to view the chick, but I love this so much I just ordered the 50 sized one. I love the way they can come and go, and they do too. They know where its warm. They go out get their food and water then go back in for a rest. Its funny because I have 1 week olds in there as well as the newborns and they just scoot in to get the warmth and nap also. The room they are in is warm enough for them, but they like to go in and nap or play. You sure can tell which ones are going to be roosters because they are up on top of it in no time lol.A couple days ago, I was sure I was going to lose a chick. This is by far the best heater for chicks. I will never use a heat lamp again. It is very safe and will not burn if touched. I can not say enough about this heater. It is adjustable so you can raise as they get older. I have used this for chicks, ducklings and for puppies. The best thing is that they can get away from the heat if they want unlike a heat lamp.Sunday, November 16, 2014

Best AM/FM Radio Kit/Trainer (requires assembly-advanced) Deals
If you're a tech buff, you'll love this. I'm building this for my Auto/mechanics class in High School, and this is my latest project. I love it. I've finished the AM part and am halfway through the FM part, and the AM part worked the first time I tried it. It sounds very loud and clear after adjusting the coils. Putting it together was an awesome experience, and I couldn't wipe that grin off my face when I turned it on and it worked. The instructions are very clear, they get straight to the point and have you do some testing with a multimeter along the way to make sure you didn't screw anything up. Great kit, just three tips:
Don't drop the AM antenna. It is little more than a bar of iron, and it WILL crack into several pieces.
Don't forget to put the plastic o-ring under the volume potentiometer.
On the AM/FM tuning gang capacitor, make sure you put the two screws on first BEFORE soldering it to the board. If you don't do this, it will cause the PCB to noticeably bend, and that's no fun.
Apparently, it is 'just' complicated enough to keep my interest--I would have perferred building my own cabinet stereo...but they don't exist anymore. So I settled for this little one. Oh yes, this comes with a small speaker.
All you technos who want to build your own radio (including the soldering and circuit board parts) that will fit into a small shoe box...this is the one to get! (it was also the only one I could find on the internet--those Snap-on and Spring Clips aren't my bag).
So, it gets my five star rating.

I originally purchased this kit as part of my capstone project for my associates degree in computer and electrical engineering. The manual that comes with the kit makes for a very good learning lab, especially if you have an RF generator and an O-scope to use. Make sure you follow the directions to a T and never assume. Once assembled the AM Part of the radio worked really well. The FM side worked OK. I had problems picking up stations inside of my school building on the FM side more than the AM side. The kit does react to noise, as it does not have a box to block it. The silk screen board is really nice as it labels the sections of the radio, but mine came with small cracks on the surface. This project is good for someone just starting out learning electronics communications.

Very nice kit. Only amplifier was oscillating. Just place the extra provided capacitor over powerconnection of IC and over the input of the IC and ground a resistor of 10 Kohm and all is OK. I learned to solder (via the learn to solder kit) only weeks before I made the plunge and bought this kit. I always wanted to build a radio! When I turned it on and heard real music, I must use the overused termmajic. Very cool. later I soldered on a 9v power supply from a cell phone so I don't need batteries.Friday, October 24, 2014
Review of Halloween Budget Life-Size Human Skull - Fourth Quality (Item #
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $17.95
Sale Price: $15.69

If you are looking for a good quality but economically feasible skull for an art project or Halloween, look no further. This resin skull is definitely both Budget and Fourth Quality, but is far above the quality of anything you will find in stores. Detail of seams, graduation of bones, teeth, even areas of tendon attachment are represented fairly well, and the material used to make it is incredibly durable.
The only complaint I have is the hinges and the closing clasp being inferior quality, but then again you get what you pay for. Replacing the hinges and clasp with something better shouldn't be a problem.
Overall, this is a steal.

I received this item in pieces. It was packed in a box and then inside an Amazon box. The interior box was open. half the eyes socket and nose were broken off, teeth were missing from the skull, and the springs that hold the jaw on were broken. It is what it is...4th quality. Skull doesn't match up (substantial recessed gap from forehead to top half of skull (1/4"). The hooks to hold skull on are useless because they too don't match up. The skull it self is .....ok. I wanted to use it to cast molds from, but it look is like I will have to do some extra work to smooth out some mismatched areas. Review of InnoTab V.Reader Storage Tote (Blue)
We received 2 of these today. My boys love the fact that it is backpack style. I didn't realize this wasn't hard plastic (although it is a firm and covered in fabric) and I do feel like the material will get worn pretty easily, but overall my kids have been wearing them around since they got them and they haven't even gotten the Innotab yet! It seems it will do a fine job of protecting the Innotab. Inside has slots for 6 cartridges and an elastic net section for the Innotab or reader as well.
UPDATE: We've had these a year and they are still going strong. They have held up great! I was worried the fabric would snag or something, but it has not.
I've noticed other reviewers say they are able to store their battery chargers or ac adapters, but I couldn't. I tried my darnedest, but it's a very slim case and I couldn't make enough room for anything other than the Innotab and the cartridges. *****SEE UPDATE BELOW*****
Despite the fact that I think it would be more useful if it was roomy enough to store some alternatives to batteries (the Innotab is notoriously bad at sucking up batteries), I still think it was worth $15 to protect the unit.
*****UPDATE ABOUT STORING THE PLUG ADAPTER*****: My nephew just got an Innotab and all the accessories for his birthday. They were able to put the AC adapter into their case! We have the same case but a different adapter we bought the Vtech adapter and they bought an off brand that is MUCH smaller. Ours is quite large and bulky but his is easily half the size of our adapter and fits in the case perfectly.
There are two cloth straps that allow about a 10" opening providing ample room for easy placement and retrieval of the InnoTab while preventing the case from flopping open. There is however, no room to place either the A/C adapter or car adapter even if no cartridges are stored. Pretty disappointed in this as I would prefer to keep the whole system stored together especially for road trips. As it is, we must keep up with the case and the chargers. We do like the backpack straps as it makes for easy portability for my son. All in all, we are satisfied with the product at this time. We will purchase another when this one is no longer useful.

The InnoTab storage case InnoTab V.Reader Storage Tote is colorful and complements the InnoTab. I'm a little disappointed in the construction, I was expecting hard plastic. The case provides little in the way of protection for the InnoTab but hey, what do you expect for $15? Inside the case, there is an elasticized compartment which holds the InnoTab securely in place. On the opposite side, there are compartments enough to hold 6 cartridges, or use one or two of the spaces for extra batteries you'll need them! The USB cord fits well in the bottom of the case.

Cheap Dean Playmate EVO Junior Solid Body Electric Guitar, Classic Black

I bought this guitar for my 6 year old who had outgrown his toy acoustic guitar. I am a veteran player and am very impressed with the quality both in construction and sound from it. My child is even more interested in practicing now with the "cool" sounds he is getting from it and (probably most important to him) it looks cool.
I researched several competitor guitars and found this one far superior for the price. The 3/4 size should last him through elementary school years and possibly beyond.
Pros: Small, fairly lightweight for a solid body, tuners are slightly better than what I was hearing (at least they're phillips screwed into the mechanism and not totally die cast and held into place with just the tuner covers like some cheaper acoustics I've owned)
Cons: The bridge had to be adjusted and all of the pieces moved back. I didn't look up Gibson specs or anything but I just moved the low E's as far back as it would go while testing 12th fret harmonic vs 12th fret sound and I ended up about as far back as you can go before the screw that holds the piece on started hitting the string. It was dialed in just before the point where I'd have to cut the bolt down so it didn't hit the string. The rest of the bridge pieces are slightly less further back as the strings get higher tone, so it ended up stepping up from lowest to highest and looking like a set of stairs. This really isn't a con, as almost all guitars need to be tooled up before they're worth a crap -but since it said it was tested and adjusted by Dean professionals on a sticker on the neck I figured it counted as a con.
After the 20 minutes or so I spent putting new strings and adjusting the bridge I knew right away that this baby was well worth the price. I brought the pickups down a bit as they were really really high up especially on the low side of the strings, which gave the guitar a really bassy muddled sound.
I like the action and the neck is sweet. Also the headstock (to my relief) didn't say 'Playmate' on it, and instead it says Dean in cursive. So now I wont feel like I'm playing with a kids toy.
All in all a great little guitar, I'll probably pick up a second one for my nephew in a few years when hes old enough to actually respect an instrument, and go pawn the Squier strat he trashed; for like 20 bux or so. (hey that's a 20 sack right there don't laugh!)
I paired this baby with a Peavey 12w transtube amp (which smokes those mini fender ones)
Now I can finally jam in the bathroom. While I poo. JK xD
Better than average Chinese construction. The neck has a satin rather than smooth finish that keeps my hand from sticking, but took a little getting used to. The body is a nicely applied gloss black. The frets and fingerboard are well done, with no sharp edges.
When it arrived, it needed some adjustments, but after setting the string height and intonation to "Gibson electric" factory specs, the action and intonation are fine. Both of these are easily set with the "tune-o-matic" bridge. I mention intonation because not all 3/4 size "short scale" guitars can be adjusted to intonate correctly, but this one can. Search the web for "intonation" and "Gibson guitar specs" for more info.
Sadly, mine arrived with major scratches on one side. This was caused by a missing foam pad inside the box. Where the pad should have been, there was only the hot glue that was meant to hold the pad. During shipping, the (hard) hot glue rubbed major scratches into the area that the pad should have been protecting. Also, the cord plug was loose. A little work with automotive rubbing compound took care of most of the scratches, and tightening the plug retaining nut and adding locktite took care of the loose plug.
This guitar comes with a cord to connect it to an amplifier, something not mentioned in the description. It also comes with 2 allen wrenches for making truss rod (neck) and bridge height adjustments.
Dean makes a gig bag specifically for this guitar, and several other brands of 3/4 size electric guitar gig bags are available as well.
Overall, 4 stars (one star off for the scratches and loose plug). I would definitely replace it with the same model if were lost or stolen.
My gripes:
1. After playing for awhile the 1/4 locknut washer for the output fell off. I re-attached, but now the darn thing doesn't produce any more sound through the amp.
2. One needs to constantly tune the strings. If you just love spending a lot of time trying to tune rather than play, get this guitar.
I read someone else's review and mentioned the same locknut washer problem, yet they still gave this guitar a 4 star review. I beg to differ. Some people have lowered expectations I suppose.
I'm opting for the Epiphone LP Special II Les Paul Collection Electric Guitar. It's $69 more, but I'd rather spend that difference now with quality pick-ups, headstock, and bridge.....rather than having to stare at a $99 mess now.

This is a nice 3/4 size electric guitar, especially for the price. I say 3/4 size because it's perfect for a teenager or an adult with small hands. It's not the smaller 1/2 size that would be appropriate for an 8 year old or younger player.Better than average Chinese construction. The neck has a satin rather than smooth finish that keeps my hand from sticking, but took a little getting used to. The body is a nicely applied gloss black. Although other reviewers have given it a solid 4.0 stars, I consider this guitar a waste of money. Sure it's $99 (at the time of this review), but you will ultimately beg to have a more quality set up.My gripes:

These rockets are fairly easy to build and flew as advertised. The boys from my Royal Ranger Outpost (3rd 5th graders) had a lot of fun building and launching these rockets, while also earning the Rocketry Merit. I recommend them to any Ranger Outpost or Scout Troop.
