This is a really wonderful game for anyone who needs to learn or brush up on their multiplication facts. Each game is short (about 5-10 minutes) which means you can play when you have a few minutes, but it's also fun to play for an hour. We all really enjoy and USE this card game a lot (my children ask for it all the time!)

My 9 yo's speed is improving and my 6 year old has already learned his 2, 3, and 5 tables from playing. Can't beat that!

I bought these this weekend at a homeschool conference where I got to meet the creator (she was very nice). I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and they are both addicted after just one day of playing. I like the fact that my children can enjoy learning through play. My youngest son loves yelling speed and making us pick up the extra cards.

The only improvement I would make in this set is maybe put a little bit more glue on the case that hold the individual cards. They seem to be separating on the edge. All in all not a big deal though :) Thanks a ton for SPEED!

Laura (8 year old) was laughing and hooting when she beat me at the speed card game. It is really fun, fast paced and she is mastering her multiplication facts without even realizing it! The cards are a great reward after finishing our math work book for the day. The simplicity of the game makes it that much easier to play and so much tougher to master! It is a terrific tool! We have spent a wonderful morning trying out the different packs! All three children love it 6, 8, and 11. The Speed Cards will become part of our daily homeschool playtime. I've found School Zone workbooks to be useful in introducing various subjects, and to review what my child already knows.

After completing Transition Math K-1, my son breezed through this workbook. Most of the pages contain counting exercises for numbers 0-12 (they had a great way of explaining zero to little kids!), and shape/pattern recognition. The intro to addition and subtraction used pictures to describe the concept.

There was one page about clocks, and a few pages about sequencing and greater/less. At the end of the workbook is a review section of everything that was taught, along with an answer key, and a cute certificate.

The School Zone workbook we are currently using is Time, Money and Fractions.

I'm a mother, trainer, and in-home childcare provider, so I am careful about the educational books I buy for kids because I want to challenge and prepare them for school and life success. I bought this simply because the price was so low and I thought it would be fun for our kids to have another "homework" book to do. I was impressed by the coverage of important math concepts and the way with which they're presented; the price is great, too. For $2, it's worth it.

For all of my kids, I purchase the Comprehensive Curriculum for Preschool (or Kindergarten, 1st grade, etc., depending on their age). It's only $13 and is almost 600 pages of awesome activities that really prepare your child for the next level. I recommend that for the main curriculum and this as a fun activity for your own kids or your childcare's Writing Center.

My 12-month-old daughter received two for Christmas from different family members. We had planned to try and exchange one, since we didn't have any receipts.

She LOVED it. We had to keep it at setting 1, since she got upset when settings 2 and 3 got mad at her for playing "wrong" (very frustrating. As a parent, I HATE that!)

But the first one broke within two weeks. The bottom of the bowl lowers to let the shapes out. It stopped lowering. It was already frustrating to play with, as the toy is a bit top-heavy, so I had to keep it standing as she played. And you have to press the button TWICE to get the bottom to lower, which is frustrating for the child. And for the parent, since *I* had to do everything for her.

We hadn't yet returned the extra one, so since she was so upset her toy wasn't working, we opened it too. Straight out of the box it didn't work!

I gave this two stars because my baby loved it. *I* would only rate it 1 star, personally. If it hadn't broken, I'd give it a 3, because the parent has to basically sit there and make it work, at least for the younger kids. And it makes negative sounds when the child puts the shapes in wrong in the extra settings.

My favorite thing about the Little Tikes Discover Sounds Shape, Sort and Scatter toy is that because of the several different play modes, it captures my son's attention for extended periods. It has a free-play shape sorting mode, that tells my son what shape and color the fish is that he put in it, which teaches him so he can move on to the next level. The second level of the Shape, Sort and Scatter, called "directed shape sorting", where the toy asks my son to insert a specific shape and color and if he gets it right, the flashing green light comes on. It's really nice for him to get that positive feedback, because then he is motivated to keep trying. There's also a "game play mode" where my daughters play with him (since they already know their shapes and colors) to see who will be the first one to find the color and shape the toy asks them for. The thing my kids were most excited about with the toy (in addition to the adorable faces on the shapes!) is the three language options: English, French and Spanish. They really enjoyed checking how to say different words in French and Spanish, and since I know a little of each, I was able to clarify if they were unsure what the word meant.

I purchased this for my granddaughters 1st birthday. It is a grow with your child toy and I like that it is in English or Spanish as she is from a bilingual family. She loved it although within 2 1/2 months it did not work. Am in the process of replacing it with Little Tykes but a receipt is needed to do so.

This is a very quality toy that my grandsons love. It just seems to grow with them. They like the variety of sounds and I like that it teaches them beginner counting. Our first Oball, the 4" rattle version, has remained attached to my kids car seat ever since, a staple of his drive to daycare. I got this one because I wanted a bigger version that would give him more activity in the living room. It has worked great. I love that the open structure of the ball lets him grab this big toy even with his little fingers. He loves the rattle and shakes it incessantly (decide if this is a pro or con for you, I like it). I liked it so much I bought extras for his daycare class and will probably keep getting this style toy for him as he grows. Enjoy.

I was hoping the technology pen in this set would pronounce the letters as my son touched them. However, it only makes a noise either "good" or "try again" or other things along those lines. I bought this set and the beginning phonics set. On each card a parent must read the directions to the child of what is expected on the card. I was hoping for more independent learning. I would rate these cards at a kindergarten or first grade level. Personally, since they don't actually help the child sound out letters I found them a waste of money.

We have the Dr. Seuss book, alphabet stickers on the wall, Sesame Street app,

we watch sesame street on tv, and we have tried working with her and we tried

an eraser board and we meet with zero success getting her to remember her letters.

She would even forget the letter a few minutes after working on it. We were really

starting to get worried, then her nana got her these and we do them every day.

Hot Dots are awesome learning tools for kids of different age groups. We have ordered the Jr. sets for my grandson who is 4 years old. He loves them! My son was DEMANDING that I get him the frilled lizard and so for a special reward I went ahead and ordered this. Little did I think that he would freak out. The toy is great quality, and looks almost life size. The problem is that it looks to realistic for my four year old. The child who loves dinosaurs and sees nothing wrong with a t-rex screamed when he saw the Frilled Lizard. It's a great toy and eventually I know he will love it.

My son received the "Mega Science Lab" as a gift this past Christmas. Upon exploration we realized that the experiments are poorly conceived and the final result is horribly executed. The Dino dig turned up 2 left legs, so the kids had to turn one around backward to make the dinosaur stand up properly hardly the educational model I would expect. The gem dig had one flat piece of dime-sized rock in it and absolutely no other gems, despite turning the rest of the block to sand (the kit says you should find 11 gems). Finally, I had some misgivings about following the directions for the crystal growing experiment. As I poured a small amount of boiling water into the plastic container (as the directions indicate) the plastic melted and burning liquid spilled out toward my children. Thankfully I had them move farther back before this point even though they were eager to see.

I am completely disappointed that a company such as the Smithsonian would allow their name to be associated with such an awful product. My son said, "This Smithsonian company is really bad".

I bought this kit after buying the Smithsonian Crystal Growing Kit for my 9 year old son which he loved. This kit has 6 activities instead of just the one. You get to make a volcano, grow a crystal, there is a model of the earth that you paint, a bug habitat, little weather station and the best part is a dino dig. In comparison to other items this is really a great value it is like getting 6 toys in 1.

Lets be honest here it a *kids* experiment so the fact your "goggles" are labeled as a toy is NOT a big deal, we are not splitting atoms here. Your child will learn how to "dig" for dinosaur fossils, grow crystals, and a few other very good learning experiments. The crystal growing kit is not an immediate satisfaction it takes a few days so I recommend starting with that experiment and then continuing with the others while you monitor the crystals. The dinosaur dig is a lot of fun and I look forward to doing the weather station and volcano.

My daughter received this as a Christmas gift. We have not done all the activities, yet, but so far so good. She is happy. She's had no trouble following the directions and is having fun. However, I was a little miffed to find that the safety goggles included were A) too small for my 9 year old to put on her head adn B) labeled with the following: "Warning: This is a toy. It does not provide protection." Excuse me? Toy goggles? Why put them in the box? Were you expecting my child has toy eyes? This is an educational science kit rated 10 and up from Smithsonian and you include toy goggles too small to fit a 9 year old????

I love Plan Toys, however these alphabet letters were a bit of a disappointment.

The colors are not as vivid as they look like in the picture. The red and blue is faded to a washed out shade. The letters are made of compressed board or something, so you can see the particle board texture mixed in with a little faded color.

The letter H was extremely rough and not the same smooth texture as the majority of the other letters. Perhaps it missed getting sanded down. Quite a few of the letters had dings and other imperfections, like small chunks missing out of them such as one would find if a little dog had chewed on them.

Maybe the set I received was defective, but the particle board is still really weird.

On the other hand, the cards are very sturdy and the pictures are super cute. The letters do fit perfectly on the outline. It's too bad the letters themselves are so poor.

I wanted to give this toy 5 stars, as it is such a creative concept and overall it is well-executed, but a few things detract from its success. One of the cards in the set came out of the package with a rip in it and it's clear that they are not particularly durable. Also, there are no grooves in the letters to fit the blocks into (as there are in the numbers equivalent set), so there isn't that satisfying "click" of getting the letter into the corresponding piece. Also, the illustrations are good but not great (but the creativity behind them is definitely 5 star quality). The letters are a nice size, and although I wish the colors were brighter in the actual wood, overall it's still a very colorful set. I do not think it is worth the thirty dollar plus asking price, but for something in the fifteen dollar range, this would be a great toy with much educational and artistic value.

Was hesitant to order this because of price and durability of some of the other Plan Toys things we have. This is the first alphabet thing we've bought that our twins are actually excited about (we have activity cube, books, flash cards, etc.) Something about pulling the letters out of a bag, letters perfectly sized for their hands and then having something to match them with. The quality is excellent -very strong, smooth letters. We have the Plan Toys nesting bowls that were of thinner wood that breaks easily. These letters seem very tough to snap. Our twins love the matching to the animal cards as well. Well worth it.

We love this product. It keeps my 26 month old busy and it's a great way to practice recognizing letters. She can play with it independently or with an adult. If you have a child that likes puzzles and matching they will love this too. I just purchased the Plan Toys Numbers and can't wait to start using that one as well.

Cheap miniLUK Advance Collection Set

I bought this for my gifted 5.5yr old who had mastered the earlier books. He loves it and my husband and I get a kick out of playing too. We felt this was a lot of puzzles for the price after some comparison shopping. My only complaint is that unlike the earlier books which allow you to set the question number on the correct answer picture, these use a number coding strategy for both the questions and answers. This is somewhat confusing because both are numbered 1-12 and you have to keep track of whether the tiles or the tray spots correspond to questions and the answers. For instance if the answer to question 1 is 5 you have to remember to put tile 1 on spot 5 of the controller and not the reverse. Perhaps this is a good added mental challenge for some but it can frustrate young ones who want to focus on the questions themselves. My son is handling it okay though and I expect these to entertain him for quite awhile.

I also purchased the younger conplete series of this set, the Bambino. I am a former educator Grandma, that babysits 4 days a week.

It is such a success as our daily "game" station, that I knew that I wanted this next step up series as the kids get bigger.

Pretty amazing company. I bought the whole set, eventhough we might not be using it for 1/2 a year and beyond that, eventually daily.

I considered it an investment for a child you love.(children can even take turns)

I am grateful that there are still a few things in this world for kids, that are actually well made, quiet, self motivating, promote critical thinking skill sets, with a slight challenge, and immediate success kit all rolled into one activity!

I love love love this product! I started off my older boy with BambinoLuk when he was 3 yrs 9 mths and we've never looked back. He progressed from BambinoLuk to MiniLuk in 3 mths (when he turned 4) and 9 mths later (at 4 yrs 9 mths), he moved on to MiniLuk Advance which is meant for kids aged 5/8 onwards. To up the ante, except for the really challenging exercises, I do not explain how each exercise is to be done but leave him to infer the logic underpinning each exercise by studying the example provided on each page. And Im glad to note that he hasnt encountered any major issues to date. Also, although I was aware that it is recommended for the controller to be placed on the book, I had requested for my boys to place the controller alongside the book which increased the difficulty level since not only does the child need to locate the answer on the book, there is the additonal step of transposing that answer onto the correct position on the controller. Seeing first-hand the multiple benefits of these books on my soon-to-be 5 year old, I started his younger brother on it when he 2 yrs 3 mths and he has since graduated to MiniLuk.

This is a great product and I highly recommend it to parents of high ability kids! :)

The objective of the game is to be the person wit the most cards at the end of the game, so it is a fast-play game. We typically play a little slower since my boys are young and it takes them a little bit for it to click for them. My favorite part of this game though is that it comes with a sturdy cardboard box (not one that will fall apart easily) and even cardboard holders for the cards. Everything stays nice and organized in the box and ready for playing next time!

The colored Moose cards are placed in four piles according to colors and then a dealer passes a Buck/Moose card to each player. As the dealer deals he has to say "Buck" or "Moose." When a Moose card is dealt each player has to rush to slap the right colors pile and then they win that card. It is pretty easy enough and teaches colors, speed, decision-making, competition and more! There are also other cards thrown in that could be dealt out including a "Loose a Moose" card, "Win a Moose," and "Double Moose." Once all the Buck/Moose cards have been dealt out, players count their card (yeah for learning to count too!) and the player with the most cards win. There are also instructions for more advanced gameplay.

You can also play the game as a simple matching game (great for young players) by flipping the cards over and matching the moose poses! This game is really versatile and fun! The box is also small enough to keep in the car to take on-the-go (like to grandma and grandpas or vacation!)

We enjoyed Buck Buck Moose a lot. Its combo of whimsy and silliness plus the competitive aspects make for a fun activity. My 7 yr old daughter and her pals have to quickly read and react which makes it very easy for ME to win (kidding). I found that boys AND girls play well together with this game, so the gender-nuetral angle is another good point. The sturdy and innovative packaging is surprisingly one of the coolest things about the game. It packs up neatly and travels very well, so BBM has been on overnights and to school and aftercare.

Simple, creative, and well thought out--high marks all around!

I bought this for my 5 year old last Christmas (2011) and it has remained one of our favorite family games. It's possible for everyone to play, regardless of age, as long as they know their colors and what a moose is. The game is fast-paced and very "active," which is great for my wiggle worms.

My kids love this game. My 5.5 year old gets really into the game and after the second time playing it really grasped the rules and we (the parents) were able to really play (and not go slow on purpose). My 4 year old loves the game, though she is not quite fast enough to compete with the 5 year old and can get down about it. She still loves the game and as we continue to play, I'm sure she'll get faster and faster. Great durable cards, fun packaging and drawings on the cards. This is a fun game for the parents too, it's not mind numbing and I don't cringe when they ask me to play with them. I would recommend this game!

I can't really say much about this toy since my daughter only enjoys biting the pieces. I got this when she was 7 months. She is now almost 9 months and still not interested in playing w it other than biting the pieces. The toy is well made though. It has many shapes and in all the shapes, there are numbers, but not very visible since every pieces are white including the numbers. I hope she will like to play w it when she is older. I do like the toy but for a 7 month old, not much.
