Reviews of Reading for Details in Stories Fun Deck with Secret Decoder - Super
Reading for Details in Stories Super Fun Deck with Super Duper Secret Decoder is designed for grades 2-8, ages 7 & up. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my daughter was ready for level three. The first level is designed to find one detail in the story they read. In level two they are looking for two details that are NOT in the story. The third level they are looking for four correct details in the story, and this level made her think. She would find the answer with three of the four answers and choose that one. She really enjoyed using the secret decoder to see if her answer were correct. We even involved my three-year-old by letting her see if her sister's answers were correct. The answers are A, B, C, and D so I was able to work with her on visually finding the correct letter.

Bought several percussion instruments to get a family rhythm band going to get the 2 year old interested in music fundamentals for instance, a four count.
This is a real gourd with a carved "monkey" handle, and seed beads held loosely around the gourd with string. Fabulous sound that could be annoyingly loud if shaken without restraint, but is a pleasant addition to the band when kept within bounds. This is not a toy to be handed over to reckless children, but, with a little adult supervision is a percussion blast. This thing is bigger than I had expected. The sound was crisp, I was looking for something more fuzzy. It's loud too. Didn't use it in the recording because it was to bright sounding.

Best AM/FM Radio Kit/Trainer (requires assembly-advanced) Deals
If you're a tech buff, you'll love this. I'm building this for my Auto/mechanics class in High School, and this is my latest project. I love it. I've finished the AM part and am halfway through the FM part, and the AM part worked the first time I tried it. It sounds very loud and clear after adjusting the coils. Putting it together was an awesome experience, and I couldn't wipe that grin off my face when I turned it on and it worked. The instructions are very clear, they get straight to the point and have you do some testing with a multimeter along the way to make sure you didn't screw anything up. Great kit, just three tips:
Don't drop the AM antenna. It is little more than a bar of iron, and it WILL crack into several pieces.
Don't forget to put the plastic o-ring under the volume potentiometer.
On the AM/FM tuning gang capacitor, make sure you put the two screws on first BEFORE soldering it to the board. If you don't do this, it will cause the PCB to noticeably bend, and that's no fun.
Apparently, it is 'just' complicated enough to keep my interest--I would have perferred building my own cabinet stereo...but they don't exist anymore. So I settled for this little one. Oh yes, this comes with a small speaker.
All you technos who want to build your own radio (including the soldering and circuit board parts) that will fit into a small shoe box...this is the one to get! (it was also the only one I could find on the internet--those Snap-on and Spring Clips aren't my bag).
So, it gets my five star rating.

I'll make this short. If like me, you miss building those kits--this is the one you want. At first I thought it would be too easy--I haven't done it yet, but I did open the box and give it the 'quick once over'.Apparently, it is 'just' complicated enough to keep my interest--I would have perferred building my own cabinet stereo...but they don't exist anymore. I originally purchased this kit as part of my capstone project for my associates degree in computer and electrical engineering. The manual that comes with the kit makes for a very good learning lab, especially if you have an RF generator and an O-scope to use. Make sure you follow the directions to a T and never assume. Once assembled the AM Part of the radio worked really well. The FM side worked OK. I had problems picking up stations inside of my school building on the FM side more than the AM side. The kit does react to noise, as it does not have a box to block it. The silk screen board is really nice as it labels the sections of the radio, but mine came with small cracks on the surface. This project is good for someone just starting out learning electronics communications.

Very nice kit. Only amplifier was oscillating. Just place the extra provided capacitor over powerconnection of IC and over the input of the IC and ground a resistor of 10 Kohm and all is OK. It is a lot of fun to build the radio and reception is above expectation.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for AM/FM Radio Kit/Trainer (requires assembly-advanced)
I learned to solder (via the learn to solder kit) only weeks before I made the plunge and bought this kit. I always wanted to build a radio! When I turned it on and heard real music, I must use the overused termmajic. Very cool. later I soldered on a 9v power supply from a cell phone so I don't need batteries.VTech - Disney's Cars - Lightning McQueen Atlas Reviews
I was very excited about purchasing this toy for my son's 4th birthday. The toy lists geography facts and trivia which are educational and fun. However, when this toy is turned on it constantly plays loud Mario-style music with no option to turn off that function. It's extremely distracting to talk over this music when trying to assist your child when playing with the toy. Which, you WILL be assisting your child because I can't think of many preschoolers that could tell you the whereabouts of the Taj Majal, the capital of Argentina or which is the longest river in the world. I think this toy would be great for older children who are easily bored on long car rides. This one will probably collect dust until my son is a little older as he's already disinterested. Ages 3+? .. with HEAVY parental involvement, yes.

This is a great idea for a child that already knows how to read and wants to learn more about the world map. However it is listed for 3+ and there is nothing a 3 year old can do. My 41/2 year old needs help. Also, we can seem to the the World Grand Prix feature (the ONLY thing that has to do with Lightnening McQueen) to work correctly. We can't link more than 1 section. It may be going back to the store.Best Deals for VTech - Disney's Cars - Lightning McQueen Atlas

Having purchased many of the Hide and Squeak Eggs sets for my son and birthday gifts for other babies, I thought I'd give this egg set a try: it's not worth it. The Express Egg Shape Sorter just isn't as enjoyable. You have to line up the pieces just right to get them to connect, and for little hands and little babies, this just isn't possible yet. Also, the case is very flimsy and the whole thing just feels so cheap.
The Hide N Squeak Eggs come in a really fun case, the shells intermix and young babies can connect them on the different eggs very easily. Even the eggs are cute, when you press them they squeak! It is difficult for my son to put the egg shapes in the right place in the egg carton, but not a big deal; he enjoys playing with the eggs while he's learning to master this skill.
The Express Egg Sorter has limited appeal and use. Really wouldn't buy these again. I definitely recommend the Hide N Squeak set.
If you put an egg in the carton wrong end down it can get VERY stuck and what kid knows to put the skinny end down?
The case is flimsy plastic.
The carton says 18 months+ but it is a choking hazard for kids under 3...hmmm.
The "quote" on the side is supposedly by a 2 year old "With the Egg-Shape Sorter learning my shapes was over easy!" what 2 year old says that!!

I'm puzzled by some of the other reviews...my child's experience with the egg sorter is completely different from those who report difficulty and frustration. A friend of mine gave it to my son when he was 2, and indicated that it was her daughter's favorite toy. My son found it equally entertaining. When other toys were cast aside permanently, it was one that he would go back to. Visiting friends were always attracted to it as well. When he at last outgrew it, I kept it in the very small collection of sure winners for visitors and potential grandchildren. Yes, there is a right way to put each egg together, and a right way to fit the egg in to the crate, but it is designed to promote pattern recognition and build dexterity. Challenge is good! I agree the handle is flimsy but it hasn't been a problem in the 13 years that we've had ours. Of course it only got daily use for about 2 years. I'm now buying another set for nephews who want their own!Best Deals for Small World Express Egg-Shape Sorter

The plastic is so so cheapthe latch almost broke and clearly bent when I opened it the first time (the plastic in blue and there is a white bend mark in itif that makes sense.) This is a very cute and well made toy but the shipping costs were practically more than the cost of the item itself. I went ahead and got it becuase my niece has a ladybug "theme" in her room and it was a unique gift to add to her ladybug collection but if it wasn't for that the shipping fee would have made me look elsewhere.Best Deals for LadyBug Push Toy; Wood; Non-Toxic Lacquers; Age 1+; no. Ordered this set for a 4-year old who had expressed a lot of interest in playing. Was pleased to see when it arrived that it was an actual, well-constructed drum kit. It's probably the equivalent of an entry-priced drum set only scaled down, definitely not a toy. I had been looking for a non-standard cordless phone, and finally found this one! I just got it so I can't comment TOO much on its usability yet, but its almost cooler in person than it is in the photos! Unlike other similar "retro" phones this one also has a full set of numbers on the handle (something you can't see in the pics). If it is on the cradle, and it rings, when you pick it up it automatically answers it instead of having to hit the "talk" button, which is pretty cool. Also, all of the handset numbers light up, which makes it easier to dial in dim light.
Retro phone makes your space looks futurist and vintage at the same time. It works fine, and the signal is so good.

I don't even know why I originally wanted to get Bang&Olufsen... This phone is so much cooler and operates so well. I was guilty to spend lots of money on land line phone. In the end, we only need house phones to find our cell phones, right? So, I thought, OK, I'll try this one. Cheap and rather unusual shape. It is better out of the box, than on the picture. And the weight of receiver is unreal, like 1 ounce. Speakers on both -base and receiver, nice blue light. Very happy with it!Honest reviews on VTech LS6195 DECT 6.0 The VTech Retro Phone
This phone is so stylish yet old fashioned. I absolutely love it! The ringers aren't exactly old fashioned, but hey those are annoying anyway. I really like that when the phone is hooked up you don't have to push talk. It has a speaker phone on the base, and I love that there are buttons on the actual phone itself. (Which the pictures don't show) The phone is so cute, and much better than the one that I replaced it with. Review of Praise Words Progress Chart; 8-1/2 x 11; Pack of 25 Charts; no
I have been really pleased with this charts, they definitely allow you enough room for multiple "chores/behaviors." I only wish they came with sufficient stickers and had a category for behaviors specifically. My son has ADD and his behavior has improved significantly using this chart, when I stick with it (too bad there isn't a section for mom :) )
Review of Tin Music Boxes Toy (each item sold separately)
I am giving a baby shower with a retro theme and have purchased different toys for decor (& cannot rate how much frun, durable, etc). These music boxes are very cute and the colors vibrant; I'm very happy with the music box itself. What I was displeased with is the way they are marketed with "Tin Music BoxeS (plural) Toy" & received only one when the picture shows three boxes and plural for boxes. Had I realized they were not sold in sets of three, I would not have purchased one for the price.
