Really great toy/model kit! Parents note: Extremely easy to snap together,
but just be careful of some very tight fitting wing parts! The "left" wing fit
SO tightly into it's socket, that it was VERY hard to remove again and the wing broke off, unfortunately. Nicely sculpted and painted. However, I wonder why the price on this model is higher than the hercules beetle, by the same company?! In any case, I'm hoping this company will release many more animals, done in the "see through" fashion! LONG overdue (from ANY model/toy manufacturer)is: a large cat (saber tooth?), a giraffe, a bat, a turtle....so many more, that would also be fun! Let's hope, huh?!

Discount Test Tube Aliens Good #3 TATSUNI
I bought this toy for my nephew he already had three, but couldn't find any more in retail stores. I found them right away on Amazon and needless to say he was thrilled. I plan on getting another one soon because he brought his grades up. I have never had a bad experience shopping with Amazon, it is one of the best places online to shop. My orders always deliver promptly and in mint condition. Thank you so much for your professional service and quality items. I will always be a loyal customer.
The web interraction is quite exciting, even thought it really did not function properly for us, but this kept me interested in the experiment as much as he did.
I just hope he could take it out of the tube and keep it after the experimentation. How is this going to end???
The excitement of this toy wears off very quickly. There is nothing about it to maintain a child's interest for any length of time. Still, it is a novelty and my grandson was very excited when he first got it. His interest just didn't last long. I have no idea how long this thing "lives" but it's been over a month now and he's still going strong.

My son (9yo) is very interested by the test tube. He is surprising me by his suddent "fatherly" attitude (promptly putting the tube in the dark at bed time and in the like in the morning). He read quite a lot from the explanation. The web interraction is quite exciting, even thought it really did not function properly for us, but this kept me interested in the experiment as much as he did.

I found that this toy is not all it's advertised to be or rather it's not as exciting a toy as it appears. It is not for children under the age of about 8-9 years old. If the child is too young to care for a small pet, then they are too young for this toy. Mom or Dad (or Grandmother, in my case) will have to take care of this thing. Initially, it's very exciting!! You add the "food" and the Alien "grows" pretty quickly. I takes up to two weeks to reach full size. As soon as you add the liquid to the tube and the white foam material he's encased in begins to fizz away = my grandson was very excited. As soon as the fizzing stops the red light (heartbeat) in the head of the alien begins. He requires contant feeding in the early couple of weeks and he also requires 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. You can go the the Alien website and darken the room hold the alien in front of the flashing light on the screen to do diagnostic tests. The flashing lights allow you to diagnose the condition of your alien. The website will also tell you how many times you have left him alone in the light or darkness. BUT, once the "newness" has worn off he just sits in his tube with his light flashing. My grandson never asks about him anymore. So, I'm still taking care of our Alien. He no longer relies on his food but eats only plain tap water now.The excitement of this toy wears off very quickly. There is nothing about it to maintain a child's interest for any length of time. Still, it is a novelty and my grandson was very excited when he first got it. His interest just didn't last long. Reviews of Reading for Details in Stories Fun Deck with Secret Decoder - Super
Reading for Details in Stories Super Fun Deck with Super Duper Secret Decoder is designed for grades 2-8, ages 7 & up. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my daughter was ready for level three. The first level is designed to find one detail in the story they read. In level two they are looking for two details that are NOT in the story. The third level they are looking for four correct details in the story, and this level made her think. She would find the answer with three of the four answers and choose that one. She really enjoyed using the secret decoder to see if her answer were correct. We even involved my three-year-old by letting her see if her sister's answers were correct. The answers are A, B, C, and D so I was able to work with her on visually finding the correct letter.
Reviews of LeapFrog Read and Sing Little Leap
My children, a 13 month old and a 32 month old, and admittedly, myself, LOVE this adorable little frog! The eldest received this toy for Christmas last year, and I have to admit, I was a little skeptical looking at it in the packaging. So many electronic toys can be too loud, too tin-y sounding, and just overall annoying. Not this little guy. I find the volume to be an acceptable level, the voice is amazingly clear and easy to understand, and cute to boot. At less than 3 years old my daughter can sing the entire alphabet from start to finish without prompting thanks to Little Leap. I was going to detail all of the games that Little Leap can play, but as I took it out to inspect it, the 13 month old came over and grabbed it out of my hands so he could play with it! =) One of the most fought over toys in my house, and provides long periods of educational entertainment. Highly recommend for children ages 1-6 because it is cute and fun enough to catch the attention of a young child, but some of the games are advanced enough to hold the attention of an older child. Since receiving this toy, I have branched out to other Leap Frog toys for my children, and I have to say I recommend the whole line!
First the positive:
First it is educational. It provides the letters, phonic sounds and numbers. It also has the double sounds of the vowels. It has games that you can play that reinforce the learning. It is very cute. It sings songs. Both of my older children (age 4 and 2) enjoy this toy. It turns itself off with no use. This toy is really not very loud.
The not so positive:
It is not the clearest voice and sometimes I have a hard time understanding the letters. My son does not though. It also takes very little for it to come on, if you just bump one of the litle buttons, it comes on.
I'd say overall, that this is a quality toy that lives up to the Leap Frog name.
I look for toys that are fun and easy to play with. I look for toys that have more than a button to push to make a sound. I look for toys that are not too loud. I look for toys that encourage exploration of the world and encourage creativity.
Although this toy does not meet all of these requirements, it is a fun toy. It is one I would probably buy again.
Enjoy.
This toy is definately not a waste of money. It is played with more than it is ignored. We are very satisfied with Little Leap and our children are too!
To my amazement, this toy taught him all the letters of the alphabet well before he turned 2. After just a few months of playing with this toy, he could correctly point to any letter I named ("Where is X") and correctly name any letter I pointed to ("What is this?").
The song to teach each letter is the same, so to an adult the singing is rather repetitious. But this doesn't seem to bother children. After several months of play, a couple of the letters became hard to push, but that bothered me more than it did my son.
I was impressed with how effectively an electronic toy could teach such a young child. I never set out to teach my son the alphabet so early, he learned it all on his own by interacting with this toy.
Unfortunately the durabilty of this toy is poor. Don't hit the buttons hard enough and you won't get a response. Too hard and the toy can break. There is just too narrow a range between the two points. Still, it's an inexpensive toy so I don't mind having bought a second one.

Little Leap is not only cute but offers educational entertainment for our little ones. The nice part about this toy is that the older your child gets the more interesting Little Leap becomes. At three and a half our youngest still keeps Little Leap in active play which prevents him from moving to the bottom of the stuffed animal bin. Little Leap is great for car trips and we soometimes catch our six year old interacting with Little Leap. This toy is definately not a waste of money. It is played with more than it is ignored. Yes, I love toys that teach and I love this toy. Kids love music and songs and I think that that's the best way to teach. Froggie sings some catchy tunes while he teaches so the knowledge sticks. LEGO Education DUPLO Town Set 779230 (223 Pieces) Reviews
This set comes with everything a kid needs to build a town, and lots of other imaginary fun things. Great Duplo quality we all grew up with as kids and absolutely worth the money.
The only "con" was packaging. When the box arrived it had 17 small see through bags each bag contained a few Duplo pieces in it. Additionally, there were several pieces which didn't even have a bag (the pieces were just floating around in the box). So, if this is a gift, you'll need to come up with your own fun packaging because it is not presentable as it is. Also, the box is labeled with "Lego" and "Duplo" on the outside, so when it arrives older kids will know what it is if they open the door.
The more, the merrier, and as it come in many shapes and sizes, it's a toy to play with for hours, including the parents, without becoming bored...this set has a lot of blocks, so you can build a lot too.

Kids loved the Duplo Town Set (actually our second). Only complaint, you really need two sets to have enough blocks and things to build actual stuff the kids want to build. Otherwise, excellent product.Best Deals for LEGO Education DUPLO Town Set 779230 (223 Pieces)
i knew this set came with a lot of pieces. i just didn't know how much until it arrived. it's a huge set! i can't wait for my son to open this on christmas day. the only downfall, as another reviewer mentioned, is the box it comes in. it's the shipping box! it has lego and a sticker on the side to let you know what's in it. which could be bad if your child sees it before being wrapped. my box arrived damaged. i can't wrap it, so i will have to switch boxes. not a big deal but a hassle and not very pretty for a gift. i assume the kids would care less anywhow. it's a great "starter" set to the fun sets like the farm etc. and worth the price!Honest reviews on LEGO Education DUPLO Town Set 779230 (223 Pieces)

Discount LeapFrog Leapster L-Max Educational Game: Madagascar
There are four games on this cartridge that features the characters from Dreamworks Madagascar movie. Inside each game there are two levels of play, and in general I would say that even on Level 1 (the easier level) this cartridge is probably too advanced for preschoolers and even some kindergarteners since it requires some reading ability plus some basic math notions.
**Mango Math**
Melman (the giraffe) gets up a tree and Gloria (hippo) tries to get him down. This game starts out (Level one) with simple math equations such as 5 + 2 = X. Melman and Gloria bounce up and down grabbing mangos until the appropriate amount of fruit is collected to answer the equation. [Thus they need to grab 7 mangos].
[The `hint' button will take children to a page where the equation is shown and solved should they not know the answer.]
**Hi Stakes**
In this game Alex (the lion) is looking for Marty at Grand Central Station. On Level One your child will be practicing fractions. Alex will go up and down three different levels searching for the one and only shape that is divided into the correct parts -shows fourths, or thirds, for example.
They will also be shown shapes, such as rectangle that is divided into parts, and asked to identify the numeric fraction that corresponds to the portion of the rectangle that is colored blue. For example, find a number such as ½ or ¼.
[One of the problems I noted with this game is that the numerical fractions are visually hard to make out clearly on the screen. Detail is not so good here.]
**Penguin's Password**
This is a fun letter shuffle game. Children are shown letters such as "a, e, c, k" and they need to reshuffle them to form a real word. In this case the word `cake'.
**Island Hopping**
Obstacle avoidance is part of this game as your child steers jet-ski riding Marty away from debris and incorrect words as they try to complete a sentence. You might see a sentence such as "The ___ laughs" or "The ____ fusses" and your child needs to find a noun that makes sense in this sentence.
Five Stars. [A-]. Although the `Hint' button provides good clues and even answers in many cases, children will need to be able to read and understand basic math concepts to get the most out of this cartridge. They will also need a bit of eye-hand coordination.
I personally find the characters annoying, but this cartridge has such good learning opportunities that I can't really complain. I haven't seen any games anywhere else that cover the same skills as well: learn math, sentence syntax, and spelling, all while having fun.

This program is well written and focuses on beginning math and reading. It is achedemically advanced for my 4 year old who is just learning to read, but he still enjoys playing using the hint feature and just messing around. It is right on target for my kindergartener and will offer challenges for reading well into first grade. Navigating the games is easy. We also loved Math Mission for both boys but found the Spiderman a little weaker because the programming is less interactive, but still rate that one a 3 or 4 star.Best Deals for LeapFrog Leapster L-Max Educational Game: Madagascar

We bought this toy for our son and he LOVEs it. He is a big fan of all things dinosaur, so being able to explore how they are put together was a real joy for him.Best Deals for SmartLab Toys The Amazing Squishy T. Rex,
Bought this for my 3 year old son who is going through the dinosaur phase. He has a blast taking the T. Rex apart but does need some help putting it back together. The T. Rex comes with squishy organs skewered on the intestinal tract (I think) once my son figured out that you can slip them of he got the organs covered in dirt and hair and anything else on the floor. We've had to wash the little rubber pieces a couple of times. The dinosaur also comes with a brief book full of dinosaur facts for grownups to read to little kids. My one gripe about the T. Rex was the packaging. the box was crushed on one corner and ripped at the other. Fortunately everything was intact and nothing was missing, but it looked like T. Rex himself was trying to chew his way out. My son currently has T. Rex on display on his bookshelf (minus the guts, those are hidden away in our dresser for now).Honest reviews on SmartLab Toys The Amazing Squishy T. Rex,
My son, who is 5, saw this at the store and couldn't stop talking about it. Every day, for weeks, he would ask if he could have a squishy rex, so I finally gave in. The supplemental materials in the box are easy to read and provided additional learning for my son.Friday, September 19, 2014

The book is well used and is great for long car rides. Paper used for the book resists tearing and spills too. Kudos to Vtech.

He loved it! His fascination with geography, names and locations of countries, seas, etc. make this a perfect gift. He spends many happy hours studying all the information that this globe provides and we are delighted with its sturdiness. Thank you for making it available.
Things that the description did not include and I wanted to know are: 1) When lit up in the daylight one can easily see the things that it shows (ring of fire, underwater creatures, etc.) 2) The light bulb is easy to remove and is just a 'night-light' type of bulb, which can be bought anywhere and is inexpensive.
We've only had it for a few months and we've referred to it many times both with home-schooling and in general discussion. It's fun, beautiful, and easy to read and use. You will not be sorry! We sure aren't!! :)

We thought the price was high for this, but when we read that it lights up to show even more than most globes, we thought it would be worth it. Our children, ages six and eight, have enjoyed discovering new things by using it. We home-school and thought this was a good investment for now and in the future. I think this would be good for anyone with children, as it can be an excellent hands-on learning tool. We have ours sitting in our living room so it's easy to access. Our kids will sit down and study it for fun! Buy Abc Cards
I have several sets of Flash of Brilliance flash cards and they are fantastic for my students. Unlike most flash cards that use cartoon-style artwork, Flash of Brilliance uses real photos. I find that this provides a lot of educational value. The cards are also very thick and are the only cards that I can find that can withstand my K-2 phonics students. My sets of cheaper cards from other vendors get ripped, torn, and bent beyond recognition, while these have lasted for several years. The cards are great for teaching beginning sounds, learning new vocabulary, and also for learning sign language. They cost a little bit more, but are 100% worth it. This latest set is really nice I like that there are several objects with the same beginning letter sound. Highly recommend.

Review of LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Wolverine and the X-Men (works
My son really seemed frustrated that he kept getting "killed" before he can even spell any words. It's very violent for the recommended age. For kids who have only watched Nick Jr. and were not exposed to violent video games or movies this is really disturbing. He frequently asks me if I can go back to putting his weekly spelling words on the Didj Sonic Hedgehog game instead since it always helped him get ready for spelling tests. Leapfrog needs a better spelling game for boys. This isn't what you would expect from them.

My son is only four but loves the comic book heroes so I went ahead and got this game for him. He loves it! He started out finding the letter they would ask for and now he can spell many of the words. I like that it will ask him to spell a word and then for each letter of the word will give him four letter choices. So it says spell "bat" and the first group of letters will be t, j, b, g and he will select b. Then it will give him four more letters... this breaks it down for him. It also gives him a few tries so even if he's guessing he's got a shot at spelling it. He has a hard time distinguishing between the capital and lowercase letters but overall he enjoys the fighting and exploration and I am pleasantly surprised with how well he is doing. Parents can also customize the spelling list by connecting to the leapster website (I haven't tried this yet but intend too). I would definetely recommend this game to other comic book fans that want to "fight the bad guys" :)Best Deals for LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Wolverine and the X-Men (works
I have two problems with this game: first, the violence. For the child to advance in gaming mode, ALL of the humans must be killed. I tried to avoid fighting, but I could not go to the next screen as one can with the Star Wars game. This to me is unacceptable as children should learn that avoiding a fight is always an option. LeapFrog defends their choice by saying, "children never see blood" and "we stay true to the character." Well perhaps a homicidal, depressed character is not the appropriate choice for a LeapFrog game to begin with. Secondly, the spelling on easy mode is NOT easy. The first test my son got was to spell "laugh." I would not consider this a Kindergarten level word. REALLY regret not reading the reviews first. And I really regret giving in to my son's delighted reaction to the built-in LeapFrog advertising on the Explorer. If these issue both you as well, please learn from my mistakes. Run away from this product.Honest reviews on LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Wolverine and the X-Men (works
Shame on me for not researching this game better, but all the Leapfrog games we have ever had have been so good, and non violent that I trusted them. This game is terribly violent. I don't let my children watch shows like this, and I certainly don't want them to play games where they hurt and kill others. Shame on you Leapfrog, this game is meant for ages 5+...this are sensitive little souls! Educational does not have to be graphic.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game: Wolverine and the X-Men (works
My 5 yr old son is one of those rough and tough sweet cowboys. He loves action games but we have a rule... nothing with blood. This is great because he still gets to fight the bad guys, but they just disappear with no gore or screaming. He is very active in tennis and competitive swim with a small attention span. This game holds his attention unlike the Toy Story game (surprising since he loves Woody). As far as learning goes, my son has a severe speech delay that has affected his learning. He goes to a special preschool with other gifted youngster. This game has made him enjoy spelling!!! He already knew his letter which helped and now he understands that when put together they mean something. I carry a little notepad in my purse and he even loves spelling the words on paper now. Having been through multiple therapy programs with my son, I am so impressed by what he was able to learn from a GAME. When he comes up to me and is so excited to show his mommy the MANY spelling words he knows, I want to cry for joy.Wednesday, July 16, 2014
