Review of MEGAshield KIT for Arduino MEGA 2560 R3

#1 The board allows you to stack another board on top of it. The row next to the standard pin location is connected to the pin row. This allows you to use whatever pins you want and leave the rest alone which may pass on to the card you stack on top. This is true for even the double row of digital pins on the end. Their duplicate is the white strip.

#2 The double row connected in the middle is positive and negative. You select 3.3v or 5v by soldering in a jumper.

#3 TWI/I2C has 4 connections in addition to the standard connections on pins 20 & 21.

#1 is the most important and I couldn't find any other board like it.

I have bought several of these after breadboarding a number of circuits with the first. They will form the sensor I/O star around a LAMP configured Raspberry Pi whose purpose will only be buffering of data if necessary, and the Xmission of data to the main server.

I agree with all the other reviews. This is an excellent board and much better than the board available from Sparkfun, which I own. The only reason I am removing a star is because it was missing the jumper.

This is by far the most convenient shield for the Arduino Mega that I've seen.

Instead of just a raw board (which would also be ok), there are several great features, such as an I2C bus area, a general purpose switch, and the DIP area. I had trouble finding a spot for some of my larger components (they would cross the VCC/GND bus or some other reserved pin), but ultimately everything fit. More importantly, fitting these components in around the features is a very small price to pay for the enormous convenience gained by all those well thought out hard wirings.

So with all those features, how many components can it realistically fit? On this single shield, I now have a GPS receiver, 3 axis accelerometer, 3 axis rotation rate sensor, magnetometer, altimeter, data logger (all on breakout boards), a piezo speaker, and 2x5 pin connector drawn to 10 of the Arudino's pins, and I still could fit a level shifter and a small SMD component. I can't really expect more on a prototyping board.

Even if I had a stack of other types of Mega shields just sitting on my desk, I'd still buy this shield to save myself all the little headaches. Great board.

I just received these. I had them on my registry but no one bought them so I ordered them myself and I'm so glad I did! They are super soft and a perfect size for a toy. Each makes it's own little sound and all the animals are adorable on the cubes. Because they are organic I have no problem with the fact that the baby will always have them in his mouth. I think they are definitely worth the money if you're in the market for organic goods. They are one of my favorite toys so far and they are also so cute that they would work as just a decoration in the nursery as well.

My son loves these blocks and I have the peace of mind knowing they are safe to chew and suck on. He has other soft blocks, but these are his favorite because they are easy to grab and carry around. The surfaces are also wonderfully soft and he likes to rub his face on the fuzzy and silky sides. A bit more expensive than other brands, but well worth it.

My baby just use clothes as teether, They are soft, and safe.

The only concern is you could not wash them or the sound would lost. I washed them and the sound lost.

But as the block is so soft and safe, it is ok if no sound appears.

I got these for a lesson on dinosaurs with my preschoolers at home knowing they couldn't do the dot to dot numbers yetbut liked that this is something that can grow with them. At 4 they just laced them...maybe next year we can work on using the numbers. My son also enjoyed playing with them in his dinosaur habitat as they are very sturdy cardboard.

My scientifically/technologically minded 11-year-old son and I enjoyed putting the clock together. The level of difficulty has, in my opinion, been understated by previous analysts. This project seems most suitable for children of at least 12 years of age. The other problem we had was with the clockwork itself: The hands stick, so the sweeping motion cannot occur. The talking mechanism and its associated internal timekeeping mechanism work fine, and the alarm is functional.

I ordered this stencil set to help my 3 year old with his fine motor skills (holding a pencil). They arrived in a sturdy wooden box, which i can appreciate after some of the flimsy packaging kids toys come in these days. The stencils themselves are wooden as well, so I know they will hold up over time. My only complaint is that I ordered the Farm Animal set and I received shapes and letter stencils instead. My son doesn't know the difference and has been thoroughly enjoying his newfound ability to draw shapes. He mastered the pencil/stencil concept in a few minutes with my help. I highly recommend these stencils as they are cute, durable, and easy to use.

Best Stellanova Levitating & Rotating 6" Moon Globe & Voyager 1 Space Deals

Kind of tricky getting it to levitate. Requires the power to be on for levitation, if the power is turned off there's a magnet in the base that should catch the globe, preventing it from rolling off your desk. Draws 4 watts, so around thirty-five cents per month in electricity usage to keep it levitating. Good detail on the moon's surface as it's printed in Germany (though made in China of course). If you start it spinning, it'll continue rotating for perhaps fifteen minutes at most before stopping.

Pretty good, and apparently the electronically controlled electromagnet underneath the spacecraft helps it continue rotating, but setting it up in several locations it NEVER spins continuously as advertised. I now have it the globe surface coated with thin fluorescent paint, accented with black lights, with a foot switch to control the lights plus a hidden mini-fan carefully positioned to make it spin. BTW, with the fan it spins at probably 50RPM, and even at that speed the electromagnetic mechanism always keeps the globe levitating, which is quite impressive.

Was looking for a lunar globe in particular, but wasn't sure about this one. The Voyager spacecraft looked kind of 'science nerd,' in the photos. And I wouldn't want to project the wrong impression given I'm a global warming denialist, a birther, and a big reason for this purchase was my longstanding efforts to expose the conspiracy behind the alleged 'lunar landings.' But returning to the subject at hand, the spacecraft is quite impressive given its simplicity. The core of the craft is molded into the top of the globe, and you get three arrays of senors/antennas to stick into the sides of the satellite. Also somewhat of a foolproof setup to insure you plug the right part into the right place.

Other:

No on/off control.

Includes advert/brochure, full page sized, showing all their other planet/satellite globe combos with a few details on each planet and its satellite observation mission.

Has the word 'Stellanova' imprinted halfway down the Southern hemisphere of the lunar surface.

Tested turning off the power and the magnet on the base grabs the globe MOST of the time, but doesn't always stop it from rolling away.

I purchased all three levels of sight word flash cards and discovered that there's no discernible difference in level between them, and lots of common sight words are not included. I also expected to see more words that don't follow common rules of English pronunciation, so they have to be learned by sight. There's also some duplication between the different sets. Not particularly useful.

The sentences on the reverse side of the cards are an excellent tool other flash cards do not have. My son has learned just as much from trying to read the sentences as the words themselves.
