My 2.5 year old loves this. He's entertained for at least 10 minutes just taking it out of the egg, building it, and then playing with it. I kept the throw away little brown X and told him it was food and now he enjoys pretend feeding it as well. Great purchase. Also great for wording with outs like open, in, out, and counting, as they are in pieces and must be built.

Word World Friends Bird Review
The toy itself doesn't stay together very well. Might be a singular defect. Bird must be disassembled to fit into egg, which does not latch in any way and comes apart constantly. Fun idea, and I love WordWorld, so it's worth it.

VTech - V.Smile Smart Book-Toy Story 2 Reviews
V Tech V.Smile Smart Book-Toy Story 2 My 4 year old grandson loves to use his V Tech-VSmile that he received for Christmas. It is an easy and fun way to teach and learn new skills. He tells everyone he is practicing for Kindergarten. The characters in this particular cartridge keep his interest.My 3 year old just got this game and he navigates through it easily. It does not keep his attention for very long but while it has his attention he enjoys himself.

Stellanova IQ Physical Quiz Globe Game Review
This is my first negative experience with Amazon. I ordered a physical mini globe and had to return it THREE times, because they always sent me a political one (with color-coded countries), not the physical globe that is depicted in the image. The globe itself is of very good quality, though, but not what I am looking for.

information. I would not purchase this item again.
It's cheaply made, that's why it's cheap -$20.00.
Comes with gainful, knowledgeable questions, in 5 NICE sets of quiz cards.
The globe is really quite detailed for its' size, with a true "global" field of view -except for a narrow fixed grey strip around the circumference of the equator!
The con: I ordered a PHYSICAL globe: not POLITICAL.
Next time, please ship what I order, or tell me what to order to get what I want; because, my 10 year old kid won't want the same one again!

Best VTech Counting Time Measuring Tape Deals
This is a fun toy for my 2 yr old. It sings silly counting songs and he likes that it pulls out and retracts. My only complaint other than how annoying it gets to hear the songs for the 5 millionth time is that you have to hear them at an extremely loud volume. Lots of electronic baby/toddler toys are way too loud. If you put some electrical tape over the speaker, then it's less punishing for the parents and safer for your child's hearing. I wouldn't say it's the coolest counting toy ever, but my son loves the songs it plays.
I bought this item for my nephew for Christmas. He loved it at first glance. The lights, music and the fact that he could pull the tape measure and see the numbers. The only negative that I have is that the tape only goes to the number "8," while the song on the unit counts to the number 10. That was very disappointing from a teaching perspective.
Updated: this toy broke after just a few short months of very light use. Would not recommend it.

Myt son is almost three, and he had an obsession with stretching out the tape measurer across things. He would get really upset if anyone moved it. He broke it of course! But, to prevent more tape measurers getting destroyed (he always gets me to give him this stuff, he is SO cute!), I got him this. It worked: He stretched it out and tried to hang it over something, like before! Only thing is this is not very long, which makes it safer for a child of course, no strangulation hazard. So it is safe, and fun enough. Its burried right now though in other toys. If I pull it out, he will use it though I am sure. It is loud though, get ready! All these toys are. Review of American Educational Colorado Natural Color Relief Map without
We previously owned a relief map of Colorado and our cat destroyed it. To really appreciate the landscape of this beautiful state, a flat map just does not do it justice.
All necessary and important locations can be find on it. It is a really good and beautiful overlook of the state and its height!

At 9 months old my daughter loved to take the pieces out of the puzzle and play with the pieces different textures. Now at 10 months she's slowing learning how to put the pieces back. These puzzles are one of her favorite toys. If they are in eyesight I can guarantee that she will be crawling towards them any minute.
The puzzle is well made and durable I expect my daughter will continue to play with this for at least the next several months.

LeapPad Phonics Book 2 Reviews
First you need to know that the content of this product now titled "LeapPad Phonics Book 2 Tad's Good Night" was previously published as "Leap 1 Phonics Book Tad's Good Night". The products are identical except for the change in title. Actually the revised line of products as "phonics book" numbering from 1 to 14 makes logical sense and is more helpful to parents like me who are trying to figure out the proper sequence to buy and introduce these phonics teaching books and activities to their children.
This is mainly a reader that reinforces the short-a and short-o vowel sounds. This is designed to be used after the child knows these sounds from an earlier LeapPad program or already knows them from another learning source such as Mom and Dad or school. If it is used out of sequence it may cause confusion or frustration. This program acts as one unit in a phonics program, properly isolating certain sounds and reinforcing them with practice actually reading the story. Reading experts in phonics feel that there should be a systematic progression of learning some sounds then practicing them. This program fits right in if you make sure you are following the sequence from beginning to end. All in all there are 14 LeapPad products you would have to buy to follow the entire progression from start to finish, just so you are aware. Inside the package is a chart showing the proper sequence of products; since all are sold separately...otherwise it is quite confusing to try to figure out as a consumer/parent.
This is a short story about the little frog Tad, whose parents go out on a date night together, leaving him and his siblings at home with their grandfather as babysitter. Tad is not happy his parents are leaving him and is upset and even crying. In the end his older brother Leap helps make him happy and he falls asleep before Mom and Dad arrive back home.
I liked that there are several ways to have the story read. If you press the green "go" circle, the story starts being read automatically with different voices for the different characters and the meter, rhythm, inflection and the punctuation is correct. If you touch the pen to the words themselves then it reads off that one word. If you move the pen along the line of the text it reads along the words. The downside is the pen-touching method is the robotic monotone voice that has no regard for punctuation, emotion, etc.
I noticed an improvement in this product over some other programs we have, I was happy that the background music is softer than the spoken word. With some of the older programs, the music is as loud if not seeming louder than the spoken letter sounds, which makes it harder to hear the letter sounds.
There are two 2-page spreads that contain a total of 5 games to play. Each page of the story also has the ability to play one game per page. Every page also has the option by touching a certain button to say the word, spell the word, or sound out the word. I feel that every child will need more practice than this book provides, and highly recommend the extra practice that is found in the "activity book 1" and the other 3 subsequent activity books as a supplement.
Thank goodness Leap Frog has decided to be consistent in providing volume controls for every program. Kudos to Leap Frog for that option! There is a wide range of soft volume to what I consider to be "too loud". Thank you for having volume control!My english is not very good but i can said that is a grate toy a very good for my gaughter learning

Ring Flash Cards Spanish/English Review
I got this for my son and husband. My husband wants to learn Spanish, so I thought this was a neat way to educate him and our 1 year old. The illustrations are simple and beautiful and we can easily flip through each flash card like a simple story book. My only complaint is that these aren't plastic coated. While my son enjoys 'reading' the flashcards with us he is still of an age where he puts things in his mouth. These are cardboard and don't hold up so well to toddler chewing.

My daughter knows a little Spanish. She could not wait to get her hands on these cards. She did not put it down until she mastered them. They were really fun which made it seem less like a chore. Reviews of Guidecraft Fraction Cups
One of the things that we've been focusing on a bit more lately has been fractions. The focus hasn't just been for the younger two, but also as a reminder for the older girls as well {amazing how things can just `slip' our minds!}. The Guidecraft Fraction Action and Fraction Cups have been a great `hands-on' math toy for just that purpose.
Both the Fraction Action and Fraction Cups are made from an eco-friendly rubberwood and then stained with low VOC aniline dyes, so they are safe for even super little ones to chew and drool on.
The Fraction Action Board is 9.5" square and not quite 1/2" tall and for ages 2 and up. The set has 18 stained wood pieces that fit into the nine shaped spots on the self-storing board: circles, squares and hexagons. Each shape has fraction puzzles of varying difficult ~ whole, halves and thirds.
The Fraction Cups are four great little portable puzzles containing 10 pieces that explore the fractions of halves, thirds and quarters. Both sets come with a simple activity booklet for use with your child.
Our son liked the bright colors and fitting the pieces together like puzzles. For our older girls it gives them a colorful visual reminder for how they can divide things up and still have a whole. The puzzles will definitely be used as a hands-on reinforcement through our school year for all of the kids.

Light and Sound Musical Trumpet - Plays 3 Different Songs Reviews
This toy does not require your child to actually blow through, which I was glad for. The actual valve tip is closed for easy cleaning. I don't need every virus that comes through my house pass to all my kids. The only thing I wish it did have is a low / medium / loud volume button. It does have a on / off but that's it. This was bought for my youngest but all of mine from age 9 2 play with it. Great for creative play time. Heavy weight plastic makes it very durable and with little to no paint makes it all the more loved by mom. Lots of fun and loved from when it came out of the box to this day!

Cheap Sea-Monkeys Sea-Bubble
We got this set for Christmas in 2005. We started out rough, by actually spilling all of the water right before we were to add the second pouch. We decided to replace the water, wait 24hrs and go ahead and add the second pouch. We have had Sea Monkeys ever since then! They really are amazing little critters! We have seen them swim all around like they were high on life. We've seen them mate and also seen them die. We always have the whole life cycle right in the little tank, from pinpoint size to about an inch, they are impressive! We have never used the suction thing or put them in the travel egg, seems a bit cruel to me?? We enjoy them in the tank just fine. Good luck with yours, and don't give up, they are hearty little guys/gals.

Discount Educational Insights Jumbo Magnetic Spinner, MultiColor (1769)
This spinner is very stiff and does not spin freely. It takes quite a bit of effort to make it go around twice and for young children the spinner would probably just spin around 1/4 to 1/2 way before stopping. The magnets on the back also does not work on my magnetic white board. The whole spinner just slips off though it does hold fine if you can put it on the side of a filing cabinet, provided you don't try to spin it too hard which unfortunately you almost must do.
