This mug truly has the look and feel of laboratory glassware. I really like it, in that respect.

Note that it's not a very good insulator, which has implications on both the temperature stability of the mug's contents and the potential for heat transfer to/from skin that may come into contact with the outside. Since I use it only for hot liquids and prefer to drink them at more lukewarm temperatures, I consider its heat conductivity a feature.

My only real complaint is that it's just a bit too small. The capacity is barely sufficient for me to fill it from the single-serve coffee maker in my office and carry it back to my desk without spills. And while the pour spout is a nice feature, I end up using it far more often as a "spill spout". :-[

Finally, there's the handle. As with the body of the mug, it's on the small side. It's a squeeze for me to fit 3 fairly large fingers in there, and then they're too close to the glass if the mug contains very hot liquid. I've found a way to hold it with two fingers my index finger hooked through the handle with my middle finger also curled but on the outside of the handle. This gives me stability and control, while minimizing the chance of accidentally touching the mug's body. I find this makes it relatively easy to avoid spills on the way back to my desk, so long as I keep an eye on it.

Prior to this, I had a much larger beaker mug of a different brand. It had the opposite problem of being too large. Its markings went to 350 mL, but probably held about 450 mL when filled to the brim. Its size presented a few logistical problems (coffee maker incompatibility among them). Even so, I continued to use it until I inadvertently discovered that, strong as it may be, borosilicate is no match for concrete (for v ~= 2.5 m/s). Rather than replace it with same, I opted to find a more practical size. I think I can now conclude that my ideal size would be about half way in between the two.

My 4 year old loves playing "Berries, Bugs and Bullfrogs". It introduces some simple math concepts like wich are more slugs or frogs or slug or berries. My 6 year old found it a bit too simple at the 4 year old level of play. We have not attempted the multiplication components yets. Is comparable to other Family Pastimes games we have played in terms of durability. My kids like "Princess", "Secret Door", and "Harvest Time" best for play-ability. No tears with these games.

We picked up BERRIES, BUGS AND BULLFROGS while our child was 4. He is 5 and we continue to enjoy this game.

As advertised, i BERRIES, BUGS AND BULLFROGS offers ways to play with mathematics and partnership. So far, we have played two of the 4 variations suggested. "The Good Berry Patch Game" has you build (together) berry patches that have more berries than bugs. You count all the berries and bugs in each patch. It's a good patch if it has more berries than bugs. This means many chances to talk about adding, subtracting, and comparing numbers.

"The Bug-Free Berry Patch Game," still a stretch for our 5-year old, has you score each berry patch. First, each bug in a patch eats a berry. Then you figure out the overall score for the berry patch. There's a bonus for a bug-free patch. Finally, you add up the score for all the patches to see how you did.

A whole other level of fun is offered by the pretend play possibilities of the squad of hungry bullfrogs. (Today my son declared they were a family and talked about the mommy frog, daddy frog, etc, as he played them.)

A cooperative game sounds like it might be no fun, but BERRIES, BUGS AND BULLFROGS is great. We love playing together. There is lots of energy and laughter every time we play, and our son asks to play this game.

As far as the game materials: both the bullfrogs and the tiles are very sturdy.

Only downside: the pictures on the game tiles show slugs, which I think of as not a type of bug (insects). So the first time I read the instructions, I had to look twice to confirm there were no insect-related game pieces, and that we had everything we should. I may be a very literal person, or it may be that bug is a more general term in Canada. Either way, it was a very small bump.

Our family loves BERRIES, BUGS AND BULLFROGS! We will be trying more of this company's games!

Discount LeapFrog Enterprises, LeapPad Carry Case Polka Dot

This is a well-made, mildly-padded case to protect a LeapPad or LeapPad2 from scuffs, drops, and falls during transit, and it includes storage for up to 6 cartridge games. The zipper is of good quality with a nice large pull to help small children operate it.

Although the case has molded recesses to match the size/shape of the 6 cartridge games and the LeapPad device, only the cartridge slots have retention elastic sewn in. Unfortunately, there is no retention strap or elastic pocket to retain the LeapPad, and the molded recess is not deep enough to "snap" the device in for a friction fit. Consequently, when you open the case, you need to pinch the sides securely in your hands or hold it horizontally to retain the LeapPad. If not, it will drop right out because it rides loosely inside the case. I find that ironic and slightly disappointing because the purpose of the case is protection, yet the use of the case by small children will likely result in MORE drops/falls. If they're standing on carpet at the time, this won't really matter. But if they happen to be near hard furniture, tile, or concrete, it could eventually damage or ruin the device. If you can teach your child to lay it down on a table or floor while opening it, (or to hold it horizontally while unzipping) it may not be a concern. I just thought I should mention it. The problem could've been avoided if LeapFrog had simply sewn in an elastic strap, end pockets, or a fabric sleeve over the main device compartment.

The 6 cartridge slots work great and help keep the small cartridge games from getting lost. I also like that the case is not obnoxiously bulky, though it does add about an inch of extra height/length/depth to the size of the device. If they were going to improve the case, it would also be neat to have a space to hold four extra AA batteries for long trips/vacations. Regardless, it's a good value for $10 $15.

This case is nice, it holds the LeapPad fairly well, and my 2 1/2 year old enjoys using it while in the case. It can be a little flimsy, that is why I did not give it 5 stars. But overall, not a bad purchase.

These posters aren't very accurate, which was pretty disappointing. They show that H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is bonded O-H-H-O, which anyone with a few weeks of chemistry knowledge knows is impossible. CO2 is shown to be a bent molecule, but it's not. The examples just don't make sense and the diagrams aren't even slightly accurate. Good decorations for a science classroom where nobody is really reading the posters.

This book is great. My daugher is finally learning what *sounds* the letter make! And she gets this book out on her own to play with it so it oviously is fun for her which is a huge + in my book!!

I would recomend this book to any child just learning to read, no matter what the age (my daughter is 5), it really helps to add additional practice to any other reading program (whether in school, homeschool, tutor, etc) and it is fun.

This is a great book for people with the Leap pad and are looking for a book that is for younger kids. My daughter is 3 and she is able to follow alot of the concepts with this book. Each page is dedicated to one letter and there are lots of pictures to touch with the pen that make music and stories. I recommend this book for younger kids who are learning the alphebet. Very colorful pages with lots of easily reconizable picutes.(frogs, ice cream, apples)

This one has over 30 phonics games for little one to play. Put it in front of any child 8 or younger and they will play with it. The lessons are geared toward the 6 and younger crowd but it's great fun for anyone. When my son has nothing to do I'll get out one of the leapfrog books and we'll play the sound game. This book is especially great for that with its letter sounds and music.

I just purchased this as a Christmas present...so as of yet my daughter has not used it. However, I have checked it out and I didn't find anything wrong with the quality. It is pixelated as I would imagine any product at this price would be. However, I didn't find it distracting and in referenence to the earlier review I didn't feel it was dangerous. If you have any concerns...you can watch the sample video, it shows how it is pixelated. I didn't have any grand expectation that this was going to be close to my own personal laptop. This is a toy with several learning features. My daughter is 2; this is a 4-7 toy. I purchased it over others because it looks like a laptop, it has a color LCD and it has features that I thought my daughter, at 2, would be able to use with some assistance. I also like that this is a computer my daughter can potentially use for years to come, as there are many learning games with varying degrees of difficulty.

A great introduction to a computer. Maybe my son will leave mine alone.

Got it for my son's 4th birthday. At first the auto scrolling drove me nuts. My son had a hard time deciding on an answer and pushing the button before it switched to the next option. But he got faster and it is improving his fine motor skills a lot.

He has hit a glitch occasionally when he goes into an activity. If he's supposed to hit enter and hits a different key, sometimes the enter key won't work. He then has to exit the activity and go back in again. It's not a big deal and he's been able to navigate it without much trouble.

As far as the volume, I too am not pleased with it. We only take it out during his little brother's nap time so it's not too irksome. A trick that I have done with other loud toys is to fill the speaker holes with glue, Elmer's works just fine.

My 2 year old loves playing on HER laptop. She is kind of rough with it, and this product has lasted through the abuse of being jumped on, the keys beat, and being knocked off of chairs multiple times without any issues in the gameplay or broken keys.

It would be way more fun for a slightly older child that could figure out how to play all the games it offers. My child just likes hitting buttons and seeing what happens. I love the color display, as I thought it was black and white when purchased. I would definitely recommend this product to parents of toddlers and preschoolers.

I don't know what people expect from a $30 kid learning laptop, but this thing has been awesome for my 20 month old. Of course, she just likes pushing buttons and making it say letter names at this age, but it's interesting enough to keep her off our desktop, which was the primary goal. I'm sure she'll be able to actually use the learning games when she's a little older.

I, too, see no problems with the pixelation. Works great, has been pretty impervious to little hands banging it around so far, and isn't overly annoying, all of which make a pretty good kid toy.

It was defective, and when assembled as instructed just kept tipping over and going in circles. The seller refused to replace it or refund my money. It was a Christmas gift for my granddaughter in Hawaii. So she was terribly disappointed and we finally had to just throw in in the garbage. Got 2 of these for my girls for Xmas. Assembly wasn't really hard and we didn't have any problem. This product would have to come unassembled or it would cost more to ship..its good sized. The only problem was we needed a 3rd one for our cousin! I was surprised because big me could even do it..probably not recommended but I'm a big kid! My kids are five and my older 11 yr can even ride it. Worth the price.

Our 1 1/2 year old daughter received this toy as a gift. Upon opening it and sorting out the different pieces, we realized that the triangle space in the puzzle base was sideways from how it should have been, making it impossible to line up the long connecting piece with its corresponding shape. I emailed Plan and explained, asking if they might have a spare base. I received a friendly affirmative reply within hours, and within a few more days a new base showed up in our mailbox! We already thought Plan Toys were awesome this just proved it again!

The toy itself is wonderful. Basic shapes in primary colors fit into corresponding spots in the base. Each has a matching surround piece, and then there are 2 larger secondary color pieces to connect 2 sets of shapes, and corresponding with their primary colors. (e.g. yellow shape & blue shape connected by green bar, red shape & yellow shape connected by orange bar)

We love the sturdy and charming simplicity of this toy. It's engaging without being flashy or doing all of the thinking for a child. We appreciate that it's made of natural materials and that the colors are non-toxic. We are truly glad to have it and will keep it in mind as an idea for a future gift idea for other little ones.

The first thing that you'll notice is the fun "Leaf shaped" hand protector, and the "carved, countoured" handle. This pint-sized, perfect sized little stick is chunky thick, yet super light weight. The built in compass is cute enough and fascinated my daughter to the point that she always alerted me to which way we were facing. What isn't understood at first is that the stick can "unscrew". Presumably you can "Add" sections as you child grows but also my daughter used the hollow stick sections for feathers, favorite stones and leaves. Honestly, what are people thinking? A plastic fake stick is a toy?!?! Could you be more estranged from the natural world? What the heck is wrong with just using a stick? Go outside after even the most minor storm and you will find more sticks than you can shake a stick at, littering the ground free, eco-friendly, re-usable, renewable, compostable; no plastic packaging to cut through then throw out, no carbon cost of shipping, keep your $20 for trail snacks, a normal compass, or just flush it down the toilet that would be more fun than a fake plastic stick. Please don't buy pointless garbage that is destined to add more toxins to our earth and more mass to our landfills in a very short amount of time. That's not how to show love for your kids. Take the time to find a normal natural stick, and trim it to a comfortable length for your child that's what they will really treasure: a natural thing you found and fixed up together. If you're too incompetent to find and trim your own stick, ask any random landscaping people you see in your neighborhood, a park ranger, a guy at the local hardware store, an outdoorsy teenager, stick experts abound who will be happy to help you utilize existing sticks, every child deserves to know someone who knows how to pick up a stick and use it as a walking stick if you let them, most children can do this for themselves.
