My son got this as a gift for his 5th birthday (by parent request). Everytime we go into a store that has a Tag, he runs over and plays with it until I have to beg to leave. So, I thought it would be a wonderful gift to get ready for reading, and being Toy Story was an extra bonus! I am still happy with the Tag itself, but the Toy Story packaging is deceiving. There is not Toy Story Storybook included, but a 4 page Toy Story trial book; actually they call it a "Bonus Game Book". The manufacturer was kind enough to include a $3 off coupon on the purchase of the Toy Story Storybook. ;) The book that comes with the "Toy Story Tag" is Ozzie and Mack written by Trish Holland. It is a cute book and kept his attention (and mine) for a decent amount of time. It is well written and the story is in a rhyme pattern. He definitely enjoys playing the games in the book. Overall, I am happy with the product, just not with what I thought should have been included in the Toy Story Tag package.

Overall, we are very happy with the TAG system, However, we were very disappointed (as was our son) that this products Toy Story 3 theme was not carried out by including the actual Toy Story 3 TAG book. We priced the system and book separately and figured that this "combo" package would save us over $15; however, since the packaging clearly shows a Toy Story 3 "book" we thought we were getting the real deal. Instead we got Toy Story 3 lite: a mini-pamphlet which inlcudes a $3 coupon for the real storybook (thanks guys!). Unless you really need the TAG pen with Woody and the Toy Story 3 gang on it, I suggest buying the original TAG and Toy Story 3 book separately. And thanks again Leap Frog for suckering us parents into buying a TAG pamphlet, just so that we will have to buy the real TAG book later.

well on christmas this was givin to our nephew and he was like YES!!!!!! TOY STORY!!!!!! then we were like yea its a book. And as soon as he heard the word book he just dropped it on the ground and asked well whats next. It was hilarious. Well dont let the little brat from discouraging you from educating your children or whoever you buy this for. I have talked to his mother more recently and she says he uses it.

I purchased these cards once my above average two year old had mastery of her generic flash cards. I used them to personalize her learning. Of course, she loves them and I am more than satisfied with their quality. I did laminate them once they were finished. They definitely need lamination if you're using them with little ones frequently because they are thinner than card stock.

This toy is great and so cute. My son puts it on his lap next to his daddy and tells us he is working as he plugs away at the little keyboard. Its educational which is wonderful and is a great aid for us as we are teaching him to read and write. HOWEVER there is no volume control to this toy and its loud. Its like Optimus just woke up, failed to have coffee, got an angry text from Starscream and is now tutoring your child angrily. Its so loud!! As mother, I like toys that have some volume control, first because I have other kids so when nap time occurs, I need quiet play and lastly because I am a mother and sometimes the incessant loud toys make mommy's ears bleed. This toy is really awesome and worth it but its loud. And the screen is really small. It reminds me a little bit of a calculator in a huge briefcase.

This was a gift for a child with special needs. He is responding like crazy! He loves the transformers look, and it makes it so easy for him to learn. He is progressing much faster than we hoped and it looks like he'll truly benefit from this laptop. It's nice to see someone took an interest in creating an educational toy that even a "special" child can use.

I must confess I did have to troubleshoot it as it didn't turn on at Christmas for my grandson. There was a little oxidation on the battery terminals and I scraped it off with a knife. Then after re-installing the batteries it worked! I told Amazon about what happened and they gave me a bit of a credit on my account. I liked that a lot!

Got this for my five year old granddaughter. Five caterpillars arrived in the mail in about a week. All five cocooned in about 5 days and turned into butterfly a few days later; the granddaughter was thrilled.

The net talks when you press the Dora button and gets pretty annoying quick. Of course now the granddaughter wants to "catch" the butterflys with the net which I am not encouraging.

I bought this set for my 2 yr old. The dinosaurs are a good size and the picture is an accurate representation of the product. There were no odd odors and all the dinosaurs were different. My only concern is that some of the have sharp tails. The description says they are okay for 18 mo and up but I wouldn't give them to a child under 2.

I bought this set for my 7 year old niece and we viewed it together. The specimens seem very professionally done -well-dyed, clearly labelled, and constructed to stand up to the type of rough handling you'd expect from little hands. There are 5 specimens per slide so there really is a lot here to look at. There's a broad variety of subjects and enough "odd" items to inspire lots of questions. Of everything we viewed, it was (surprisingly) the pollen samples that drew the most oohs and aahs from my niece. We did both find ourselves wishing for more insects, and the textile samples were rather "ho-hum", but overall this is a nice set and, I think, worth the purchase.

Yes, it does take some time to load the programs. Yes, it is easy for my son to turn it off or press the home button. Yes, he originally got frustrated when he turned it off. However, my son has now owned this tablet for 4 months and he LOVES it. When the programs are loading, he now says "loading" and waits patiently. He asked me for "shapes", "animals" or "peek-a-boo", one of the three games pre-loaded on the tablet. It is durable, if kept in its case. He has dropped it many times, but it still works great. He loves the camera and now knows how to turn it on and off himself. If you can get through the learning curve, this is a great electronic learning device for little ones!

LeapPad Phonics Book 2 Reviews

First you need to know that the content of this product now titled "LeapPad Phonics Book 2 Tad's Good Night" was previously published as "Leap 1 Phonics Book Tad's Good Night". The products are identical except for the change in title. Actually the revised line of products as "phonics book" numbering from 1 to 14 makes logical sense and is more helpful to parents like me who are trying to figure out the proper sequence to buy and introduce these phonics teaching books and activities to their children.

This is mainly a reader that reinforces the short-a and short-o vowel sounds. This is designed to be used after the child knows these sounds from an earlier LeapPad program or already knows them from another learning source such as Mom and Dad or school. If it is used out of sequence it may cause confusion or frustration. This program acts as one unit in a phonics program, properly isolating certain sounds and reinforcing them with practice actually reading the story. Reading experts in phonics feel that there should be a systematic progression of learning some sounds then practicing them. This program fits right in if you make sure you are following the sequence from beginning to end. All in all there are 14 LeapPad products you would have to buy to follow the entire progression from start to finish, just so you are aware. Inside the package is a chart showing the proper sequence of products; since all are sold separately...otherwise it is quite confusing to try to figure out as a consumer/parent.

This is a short story about the little frog Tad, whose parents go out on a date night together, leaving him and his siblings at home with their grandfather as babysitter. Tad is not happy his parents are leaving him and is upset and even crying. In the end his older brother Leap helps make him happy and he falls asleep before Mom and Dad arrive back home.

I liked that there are several ways to have the story read. If you press the green "go" circle, the story starts being read automatically with different voices for the different characters and the meter, rhythm, inflection and the punctuation is correct. If you touch the pen to the words themselves then it reads off that one word. If you move the pen along the line of the text it reads along the words. The downside is the pen-touching method is the robotic monotone voice that has no regard for punctuation, emotion, etc.

I noticed an improvement in this product over some other programs we have, I was happy that the background music is softer than the spoken word. With some of the older programs, the music is as loud if not seeming louder than the spoken letter sounds, which makes it harder to hear the letter sounds.

There are two 2-page spreads that contain a total of 5 games to play. Each page of the story also has the ability to play one game per page. Every page also has the option by touching a certain button to say the word, spell the word, or sound out the word. I feel that every child will need more practice than this book provides, and highly recommend the extra practice that is found in the "activity book 1" and the other 3 subsequent activity books as a supplement.

Thank goodness Leap Frog has decided to be consistent in providing volume controls for every program. Kudos to Leap Frog for that option! There is a wide range of soft volume to what I consider to be "too loud". Thank you for having volume control!

Although my kids have gotten their hand stuck once or twice in the truck, it really wasn't a big deal. I just helped them open their hand and pull it out. Honestly, I never thought about it twice because this is really a great toy. My son got it for his 1st birthday and still plays with it at four years because it's so many toys in one: a truck with a driver, a shape sorter, a "dump truck" of sorts (back opens up), a handyman toy (buttons are in tool shape and make corresponding sounds). The little shapes expand to animals, which is my son's favorite feature. The only downside is that after 3 years of extensive use, they are starting to get stuck, but the rest of the truck still works great, while I've probably thrown away every other toy he's had since age one.

I recommend this toy and would give it to a friend's kid myself.

I bought this toy due to the good ratings from other customers. Warning: sometimes good ratings do not mean the toy is any good. Turns out, this toy has NO OFF switch. There is only one function and that is to be ON all the time. I like how it makes noises every time you stick a shape in its hole or press a button, but it's completely annoying that I cannot turn off the thing and have my baby play quietly. Sometimes quiet play is needed but this toy does NOT allow that.

My son (10 month old) thinks this is great. So do we. It is an odd combo 1. a dump truck, 2. the little shapes are animals (a bird, turtle, elephant and a fish) that you push a little button on each and it opens into the animal and you push the pieces back in so that they fit into the dump truck and 3. it actually plays a couple lovely songs! It also makes the sounds of a saw, jackhammer,etc when you push that button. There is no off switch, but this is not annoying as the songs are short and the others sounds only play when the button is pushed. This is not an obnoxious loud either. I do recommend this toy! It is something my son will grow into. ie: right now he can not push the animals pieces back in, but he can make them pop out. He puts all the shapes into the hexagon instead of the correct shape.

It comes with a whole variety of shapes to sort, but as he gets older he can actually use it as a dump truck because the bed lifts and dumps! I have spent many hundreds of dollars on these blocks and think they are great. First saw them at a local children's museum and have since purchased several of the 48, 96, and one 192 block sets. The only difference between the sets (other than the number of blocks) is that the larger sets come with more, and larger, plastic windows.

My son (turned two recently) has been walking along, climbing up, and crawling through my creations since he could move. He can now usually pull the blocks apart himself but can't always push them all the way together.

These are durable enough to hold the weight of a 160lb adult and I've even made bridges I could stand on by sliding several sections of PVC pipe through the holes.

I highly recommend the blocks but be warned no matter how many you have you'll likely think of even more amazing structures you could build if you had just a few more blocks!

We have had these blocks for several weeks.now. My 3 year old plays with them every day. She has been building castles, robots, sand castles, etc. The blocks are very durable. They are light weight (hollow inside), made just like a lego or duplo block, just larger. I definitely recommend them. If you're on the fence about making the purchase, do it, you won't be disappointed. Oh, they also came with several different sized 'windows', and some of the blocks have grooves along the side for their placement.

These are great blocks durable and sturdy. My only regret is buying only the 96 pc set. The true fun of building with these is that you can build really big structures and to do so and keep the structure sturdy you need a LOT of blocks. We found that the 96 pc set is probably the minimum that I would recommend. With it we can build walls, small pieces of furniture, free-standing animals, and half-forts. Doubling the set to around 200 pc would be ideal and would allow us to build forts and more complex shapes.

My 6 year old daughter asked Santa for a pink guitar and I couldn't bring myself to buy a toy. Santa did well! This guitar is a very playable down-sized guitar with really decent action and decent sound. I tightened the tuning machine screws a bit to help the guitar stay in tune. All in all, this is a great learning instrument. The amp is nothing special, the sound is ok. Now I'm just hoping I can interest my daughter in actually learning how to play...instead of just strumming the open strings and posing like a rock star. :)

(FYI...I've played guitar for 25+ years and used to sell them for a living. So, I know what I'm talking about.)
