Discount Lauri Toys Tall-Stacker A-Z Pegboard Set (Uppercase)
We love the basic Lauri pegs and pegboard at our house so I decided to expand the play by getting these letters. Lots of ways for creative play, all 3 kids enjoyed. The only minor disappointment was that the box said it included an activity guide, which ours did not. But in no time they were building their own letter towers! My almost 2 year old and 5 year old love playing with these. Wish they weren't made of foam, but they are still awesome.

Best Explore the Earth Deals
I bought this toy for my son for Hanukkah because it looked educational. When it came it had a demo button, but it didn't work. I had to take the whole toy out of the packaging and replace the batteries. I was glad I had bought it for my own child and not as a gift. He does enjoy playing with it. He's learning a lot about other cultures. The adults enjoy it too and we're all amazed how much we don't know.
I also like the fact that the discs can store right inside the back of the toy. No lost pieces! We like this toy a lot. It promotes learning of cultural details, such as typical foods, dress, and animals of many countries, including the United States. Many of us grow up not knowing how to identify characteristics of even our own culture, whichever culture it may be, because it seems to be "just how it is". I think looking objectively at our own culture helps reduce ethnocentrism and hegemony. This toy also helps kids learn many country names and practice memorization skills. My kids enjoy being able to switch the disks and watch them spin around through the window in the cover. It's brilliantly designed with a compartment on the back to store the disks, however, my 4 y.o. has trouble getting them in there. Also, the disk cover comes off easily, but it's easy to snap back into place. Overall, well-recommended!

Best Addition and Subtraction Deals
I've used the standard rectangular flash cards and never liked them--all those cards to mess with, and they always seem so disorganized (maybe it's just me!). I am delighted to report that these cards are fantastic--easy to use, easy to store, fun for my kids, and ORGANIZED! By that, I mean that (for example) the +2 card has all the -2 facts on the back, and the answers to the front are clearly visible on the back. The round dial works smoothly and is durable with proper adult supervision, making these by far my flash cards of choice! I also bought the multiplication/division set and have been equally pleased with those. Thanks, Trend, for thinking outside the "box" and offering a more "rounded" approach to flash cards! The idea of math practice with the wheel is good. The portability is good because you can take a few wheels with you in case there is something specific to practice. As far as durabilty it is thin cardboard so it all depends on how much care you take. I think the price is expensive for what it is. I paid almost thirteen dollars and yes even though it is a wheel it still serves more or less the same as flashcards which are 1/4 the price. I wouldn't recommend this product simply for the price factor. For that price you can buy some cubes and rods and teach hands on math.

Discount Brain Quest Play'n Learn Numbers Card Game
I love that the game is very versatile. The instructions have two different options for the different games that can be played using this set. I also read reviews where a very creative dad had thought up a few other games. I like knowing that this game will grow with my daughter and right now she likes the match option. She likes counting the number of things on the cards and I feel like we'll enjoy this game for years to come.

Reviews of Urban Infant Bamboo Blocks
Environmental, non-toxic and educational. I like the natural bamboo unlike other colored blocks I had brought for her. No need to worry about toxic paint! It also come with a book that explain the meaning of each recycling number. They looks cool too, a modern decoration on the table.

Bought it for my four year old son with autism and we like it a lot. It can be challenging getting him to sit still for us to do a learning exercise, but this is a nice interactive tool to help get the job done even if it is for just a few minutes at a time.

My developmentally delayed students are able to use this independently. It has helped improve their communication skills. It is the second set I have ordered so some parents can follow up at home.Best Deals for Educational Insights Smart Talk Complete Program
i got this for my nephew who is autistic. he is just over 3. he's still a little too rough for handling the cards themselves, but with his therapist or parent helping he loves going through these. he didn't start to talk till 2.7 years old, and with these his vocabulary is increasing fast. i love that the voice that speaks the card object names is very clear. it has 3 play options. example a card with a piano. the 1st button just states : "piano" the 2nd button states "this is a piano. it makes this sound" then it plays a couple bars of music. the 3rd button ask what the item is for testing. the pictures are real pictures not cartoons. they are broken up into catogories for easy lessons. the shapes also have a smaller picture. example the oval shape has a smaller picture of an egg by it and button 2 states " this is an oval. an egg is oval shaped." he'll also go through them quickly by using them as flash cards without audio. only complaint is that it is pricey. the cards are not quite thick enough to withstand little hands, but with adult supervision what a great aid for learning.Honest reviews on Educational Insights Smart Talk Complete Program
My son's class used this tool to get him to identify objects, he is autistic. As soon as I heard he liked it, I bought it for hom use. Some of the cards have been ripped up, and the kids have dumped them into one huge pile a few times making it a headache to reorganize when you have a hundred other things to do, but I am overall satisfied. We stopped using it for a while but we are bringing it back to his home plan! Great learning tool!Thursday, November 20, 2014

I purchased nine of these to use at a middle school engineering camp, along with the physic discovery kits. I did not spend much time with the instructions but many interesting projects were constructed using the parts. Some of the parts are not very robust and can be difficult to take apart. The price is high for the included parts and they really should add a second regular battery holder to improve the speed of the included motor (it has one for the electric motor and one for charging a battery). Five stars if they get the price down or add some more parts.
Also, I initially had planned this project as a home schooling project, but the information about solar energy included in the kit's booklet is very minimal, so don't expect to learn a lot about solar energy by building this. The one thing we learned is that the amount of solar energy produced by this toy is insufficient to power it. For the record, my son still says this toy is fun, but he only picks it up once every couple of months, and always gets frustrated with it in the end. (p.s. this kit is NOT compatible with Lego)

Quite a disapointment, solar panel isn't robust enough to drive the vehicle and even with all the gears lined up properly and using a battery pack it's quite anti-climatic. Not much educational value over any other build kit without a "solar panel" many of which are cheaper.Best Deals for Thames & Kosmos Solar Power
I got this set and the wind powered set for my 8-year-old son who loves building, science, and mechanics. He's a wiz at Legos/Lego technic, building thousand-piece sets in a couple of hours, but he found this really frustrating because the pieces don't always fit together as the plans say they should. Then, once we managed to get the kit together the solar power is so week that the vehicle barely goes. They say you can combine sets to make more power, or use the battery back-up, but still it barely did anything, or wouldn't work because the pieces didn't fit together quite right (for example, in one case the gears didn't line up to fit together.)Also, I initially had planned this project as a home schooling project, but the information about solar energy included in the kit's booklet is very minimal, so don't expect to learn a lot about solar energy by building this. VTech - Letter Sounds Learning Bus Reviews
I will tell you right now, my son LOVES this toy. However, a variety of factors have led me to hide it from him and ultimately give it away.
1. As with all Vtech toys, the speaking and singing voice are INCREDIBLY annoying. I have a high tolerance for annoying singing voices (I'm fine with all the Leapfrog toys, for the most part), but for some reason Vtech tends to pay singers who are constantly flat to sing the songs for their toys.
2. The songs are AWFUL. My son spent the first several days with this toy playing the same song over and over again. Here's how the lyrics go, "A says "ah" and B says "buh." C says "kuh" and D says "duh." E says "eh" and F says "ffff." G says "guh-uh-uh-uh-uh."" And so on. It doesn't explain the multiple sounds that certain letters can make and it's ANNOYING.
3. This is the big one for me the battery cover DOES NOT SCREW ON. Which means your child will almost immediately figure out how to take it off and start fiddling with the batteries. Thankfully my son didn't put them in his mouth, but I really thought that it was standard for all toys for young children to have a battery cover that screws on to prevent this sort of thing.
This was a gift, not something we ever would have bought. The sound was still working fine when we got rid of the toy, although we didn't keep it long enough to test the durability of the buttons and electronics. There are three volume settings, which is nice for parents. And I'm sure someone's child would learn from this toy my son was already reading and knew all his letters and sounds when it was given to him, so it wasn't super-useful for us.
As with all electronic toys, most children will probably love this. However, it does absolutely nothing to stimulate creativity, it shows rather than lets children really *experience* learning, and it's dangerous! Do you really want your child taking the batteries out and seeing what happens when he or she starts gnawing on them? AVOID!
Survived a fall from a highchair onto wood we haven't had it long enough for more durability testing, but that at least shows it's not fragile.
Perfect size for toddler hands although my two year old isn't getting the full benefit definitely a grow-with-me type toy. My two year old is playing with it and enjoying the sounds and pictures, my five year old is figuring out the games.
Several different modes/games and including three letter words for every letter in the alphabet and mix and match animals. I think it's a great little toy that will entertain for years.

We received this for our daughter's second bday. It was "over her head". After showing interest in letters we gave it to her in the car. It was intended to keep her occupied pressing all the buttons. We didn't think twice about it until two weeks later she was singing the letter song and could point to any letter and give the sound. Yes, it only provides one sound for a letter that might have multiple but for a now three year old it is perfect. She knows he alphabet and initial sounds. She now has moved on to building three letter words feature. My one year old is catching on too. Great gift idea.Best Deals for VTech - Letter Sounds Learning Bus

We just downloaded the toy story 3 tag junior book. I am a little bummed about the audio. The only voices in the book are Woody, Buzz, and the aliens. They have pictures of all of the characters but when you place the wand on them they just play music. I would have liked it more if there were more interactions with the other characters like Jessie, Ham, or the slinky dog. The book is also "read" by Bonnie and her voice is the same as the movie but on the loud setting is a bit overpowering. All in all I like the book the aliens seem to be the main focus point with the most interactions and they are adorable. Glad I bought it at this point in enjoy it more than my daughter!
One good suggestion is, when you buy the tag junior, I bought the pen version (tag), instead of the snowman version (tag jr). The pen has larger storage and it could be used with the tag books.
The coolest thing is that kids act like it's a game, so learning is actually fun. Instead of popping in a video for them to watch over and over and over and over again, these provide entertainment that teaches them something.
We have gone through several of the Leapfrog Tag Junior Books (ages 12 months 4 years ) and now are getting the LeapFrog LeapReader (4-8 years), and Mr. Pencil stylus and writing (Ages 3-6 ) kits.
Along the way we also got the Leapfrog Counting Candles Birthday Cake and the LeapFrog Creativity Camera. Both were big hits. You do however have to be able to live without you iPhone for a while, since the LeapFrog Creativity Camera is just a case for the iPhone.
All the LeapFrog products are made to last. They are very durable and can take drops, kicks, slobber, food, and tosses.
Over all I find the LeapFrog product line a great investment every time we get a new one.

Buy Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb
GOOD: I just purchased this item for my daughter and she loves it. I have only had this item for about 3 days now and she gets excited every time she sees me pick up the lamb. She is not quiet 3 months, yet she kicks her legs, waves her arms, and giggles the entire time the DVD OR the CD is playing. It really does manage to keep her attention the entire time it is playing. I especially like how the good-bye song at the end is so soothing. It puts her to sleep every time, so it is perfect for right before nap time. I would recommend this to any parent with a little one who needs just a few minutes to distract them. Gives you enough time to actually have some lunch yourself or even prepare dinner.
BAD: Although my daughter seems to adore it, a friend of mine's son is really frightened of the lamb. He likes the DVD just fine. However, ever since the lamb talked for the first time, he is really freaked out by it. He can not even look at it when it is turned off and not talking to or blinking at him. If possible, you may want to expose your child to the animal before you buy it, just in case.
The doll is definitely a great interactive toy but the DVD by itself is amazing too. My daughter holds onto the lamb while she watches and pushes his belly button.
I highly recommend this toy.

This is my first review so bare with me...I bought this for my 8 month old and she drags it everywhere!! She laughs when the doll laughs its soo cute. She tries to have little conversations with the doll. When we are in the car she just holds on, talks, and squeezes until she fall asleep. I have not had any problems with this toy yet, but will try and keep you up to date. For now I recommend it. We will be buying the dog and cow for Christmas.Best Deals for Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb
I was so excited to get this new product for my 3 1/2 month old after reading so much about it. After we put in the batteries and played the DVD, I saw the "magic" happen. Of course, it was cute with the interaction between the stuffed animal and the DVD while it was playing, but here's the bad part. All the animals have a bellybutton where it transmits/receives the audio for it to interact with the DVD, but it is this very annoying, even blinding LED blue light. How can we even stare at the animal without getting blinded by the light? Not to mention, a baby's sensitive eye. The animal only says a few phrases that correspond to parts of the DVD, which I understand is all that is necessary for a 3-12 month old. The voice of the animal is rather frightful motherese tone, which was not soothing for babies. Don't get me wrong, my baby was staring at her new "friend", but she did wail at the beginning. Overall, I thought the product was not bad, but the reason I gave it such a low score was because of the bright LED light that makes it impossible to stare at the toy and the DVD content. After finishing the entire DVD the first time, I boxed the product back up and returned it the next day. For a product that is geared for babies starting at 3+ months, it needs more music. I think I'll be sticking to the Baby Einstein series because they actually get it right the first time. Don't waste your money on this product unless you want your baby to be blinded by the adorable little lamb.Honest reviews on Tiny LoveDVD MagIQ - Tickle the Lamb

This was given to my daughter as a Christmas gift when she was 4 months old. She absolutely loves this DVD. The only bad or annoying thing about the doll is that I can't always get it to work. You have to hold the doll in front of the TV speakers and it's supposed to sync up. Our doll just blinks instead of syncing so my daughter watches the video without the doll and enjoys it just as much. She especially loves when her adorable friends play "peek-a-boo" with her. She giggles the whole time. The doll is definitely a great interactive toy but the DVD by itself is amazing too. My daughter holds onto the lamb while she watches and pushes his belly button.
I highly recommend this toy.

Best Blue Ocean Relief MOVA World Globe Deals
I looked into the levitating globes and chose this instead. It doesn't levitate, but its slow rotation, without batteries, is soothing and fascinating. It just keeps spinning with no intervention...just like the real Earth! It is too small to use as a reference globe, but it is a fine size for a desk ornament. It takes some thinking to figure out how it could possibly work, thus it makes a good conversation piece.
I liked mine so much that I ordered one as a Christmas gift for a tech-savvy friend. He appreciated his as much as I did mine.
This video shows the MOVA 4.5" globe I've just received. I've placed a CD in a case just behind and beside the globe for a sense of scale (it's slightly larger than I imagined it would be).
I first placed the globe about two feet from a desk lamp with a CFL bulb. The globe would move about a quarter of a turn, then stop and move back an inch or two, and then start turning again. The manual that came with the globe indicates that flourescent lighting is not optimal for powering the globe. Luckily I get some indirect sunlight from a window across the hall, which seems to work like a charm.
I'd read another review mentioning the seam where the two halves of the globe's outer shell are joined. It's a relatively subtle seam, and it is straight and regular around the circumference, so placing the seam at the equator effectively hides it from view.
The manual also mentions a sealed hole where the fluid is introduced, and that this should be at the bottom of the globe. I was not able to find this irregularity.
Granted, I've only had this globe for 30 minutes or so, but my concern about the expendature is gone. If the globe continues to function as it does now, I'll be completely happy with this purchase.

This was a present to our family from some girls that stayed at our house for a week. I love love love it. Our sits by the window and smoothly rotates from the light. I have never had it next to a regular house light before but outdoor lighting it is beautiful. I love how the blue pops from the ocean color. I am buying one for a friend too.Honest reviews on Blue Ocean Relief MOVA World Globe
I was amazed when I first saw one of these a year ago. The clear outer shell was invisible making it look like it was floating in air. I bought one for a gift and I can plainly see the seam between the two halves of the outer shell. If I line the seam up with the equator it is less noticeable. Without the seam this would definitely get five stars.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Blue Ocean Relief MOVA World Globe
I have had this globe for about 6 months now and I really like it. It doesn't levitate, but it rotates inside of a plastic sphere when exposed to light. Mine seems to rotate at a really good speed even in relatively dim light from the window, although at night it spins very slowly because the light bulb in the room is really low. So far I have had no problems with it at all.Wednesday, September 17, 2014

Buy 4D Vision Hercules Beetle Anatomy Model 3D CutAway Puzzle
Model came broken, but besides that-model is advertised as a puzzle, made to take apart and reassemble;however, parts fit too snugly and are too delicate for using as a puzzle.Detail is very good and is very acceptable if used as a display model. The model is really amazing! The big size helps to show all the details and the fact you have to build the beetle like a puzzle is good for paying attention in every part.
