Best Early Years Rocket Baby Activity Set Deals

I bought this for my daughter (11 mo.) because she really enjoys the Melissa & Doug-type fill and spill toys. She's at an age where she LOVES unpacking things (my purse, her diaper bag, my husband's gym bag), so I was hoping to give her another, more age-appropriate alternative. This toy captured her attention right away. The flying saucer and shooting star rattle when shaken, the moon crinkles, the alien is a bean bag, and the puppy barks, so there are lots of things to do and explore. My daughter smiles every time the puppy barks, and she seems particularly fond of the moon and the star.

We have already found lots of ways to play with this toy. She is very interested in learning the names of objects right now, and this toy is great for that. She'll point at one of the pieces, we'll name it ("star"), she'll move on to the next one ("puppy"), and so on. She also likes to practice "sharing" by giving me one of the pieces and waiting for me to to hand it back. And, of course, the pieces are fun for throwing, shaking, and chewing. So far, we've gotten a lot of play out of it.

The only drawback is that it's tough for her little hands to pull some of the pieces out. If you stuff everything into the rocket, she can get the objects at the top without much trouble, but she can't pull them from all the way down in the bottom. The manufacturer's suggested age for this toy is 12+ months, so she may just be a bit young for it. In the mean time, we help her get the toys from the bottom of the rocket, or we put them in a larger container for her. Overall, she enjoys this toy quite a bit.

This is an awesome product. Includes 5 little space-theme toys that all fit inside the rocketship, and there's even a window so the "astronaut" can peek out. Every piece does something (rattle, crinkle, etc.) so it all holds my 1 year old's attention. He loves taking all the things out and putting them back in. Plus there is a decent mirror on the bottom of the rocketship too, plus a ring on top if you wanted to sttach it to a car seat, stroller, etc. Couldn't find anything like this in the toy store but very glad I found it here.

My 7 month old loves these toys. The small toys are a great size for him to grasp with his little hands. However, he is at the age where everything goes into his mouth. I didn't see the recommended age for this toy in the description, and not until after I got the package did I find the age recommendation of 12 months in another review. The spaceship is about 4 inches wide at the base, 8 inches across with the wings, and 10 inches tall. The toys that go inside are about 2 inches tall. The star, small spaceship, and moon are about 2 inches across, and the dog and alien are almost 3 inches tall and maybe one inch across at the torso. While the toys would be hopefully easy to pull out if the baby started choking, the dog and alien especially may be worrisome. I think I keep the smaller toys for closely supervised play only.

As other parents have said, the baby loves this toy set. My baby loves crinkles, and so the moon is great. The rattle star is also a great shape and size for his little hands to pick up. He loves the alien, even though it is the only small toy that does not make noise. It has plastic pellets in it, so it makes a very soft noise, but there isn't much room for the beads to shake. I think he loves the different, neon yellow-green color.

I bought this set for my niece on her 1st birthday, and it was an instant hit. Each toy has a different texture so she loves to grab them all. The only downfall is that the toys are a tight squeeze into the rocket... I'd like it better if she could put them in/take them out on her own. Still a great buy, though.

My son is 8 months and likes playing with his truck more then this rocket ship.Well he actually shows no interest in it yet. I think I play with it more. I love the dog that barks and it is so soft. Overall I am very happy with it. It is well made.

I originally got this game for my 8 year old. After she played it a few times, my 6 year old and 4 year old were begging to play. Fun, educational and even amusing for us adults watching our kids play.

Bought this traditional-style abacus for homeschool this year with my pre-k child. He loves it already; it is a great hands-on way for children to learn and visualize numeric values and concepts of adding and subtracting (and I know much more). This specific product is plastic, lightweight, but does not feel cheap. You can lay it down flat on a table (like at a restaurant) and practice math and the beads still slide very easily. Would definitely buy again and recommend it to others.

We got this earlier this Spring, I decided not to review until our butterflies were released. Our three year old was amazed watching the caterpillars eat inside the small containers. All arrived alive, but two out of ten died later. The eight left did turn into cocoons right before our eyes three weeks later. I carefully placed them into the butterfly container, on the side using the hook on the paper backing as instructed. All eight turned into butterflies in three to four weeks after that. Then as a family we released them by the wild growing raspberry bush near our apartment. Our daughter was sad, yet also happy to watch them fly away. Every now and then throughout Spring we saw them in the trees right where we released them.

I really enjoyed working with this Butterfly kit---it was fantastic to see the worms change to pretty butterflies! I plan on getting more when the weather cools off. I recommend this to EVERY BODY, of all ages!

You should know, this is a small puzzle, the dimensions are clearly stated above: 3.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches

However, once you expect it to be small, you will see that it is perfect! My 2.5 yo still sits rear facing in her carseat and this is the perfect thing to hold in her lap while we drive. It is several puzzles in one for more fun. Or, as your child gets older and develops a sense of humor, she can give the cow a pig foot or some other combination.

My child rarely plays with this in the house. In fact, we usually leave it in the car, where she will play with it for our entire 20 minute drive to town and then pick it back up for the drive home. We've had it for a year and all the pieces still look great.

I bought this as a gift for a 2 year old. It took the boy about 6 months to "get" it. Finally they sent me a photo of them at a restaurant playing with the blocks. The report was that he loves it! It is VERY small so it makes a great take along toy!

MATH NOODLERS GR 2-3 Review

The following review of this game was written by Sarah, one of my 4th graders. We use this game in class to help teach about fractions. It is great to help students with equivalent fractions and comparing & ordering fractions. Here is Sarah's review:

Fun with Pizza Fractions is a fun game that we were introduced to in 4th grade. The game is fun to play and teaches us fractions. I can't get enough of it.

There are many ways to play the game (7 to be exact). My favorites are games number 1 and 3. The way to play number 1 is you set all of the fraction pieces in the middle then players take turns taking pieces. When all the pieces are gone, the player who has the most complete pizzas built wins.

The way to play game 3 is players take turns spinning the spinner and they follow the directions given on the spinner. For example, if it lands on 1/4, the player needs to try and find a pizza slice that is 1/4th of the pizza.

One of the things that could be changed is the pizza is TOO realistic. It makes me hungry. Something I like about the game is it helps us with our math.

I would recommend this game for a child in 1st-4th grade or anyone who struggles with fractions.

Cheap Learning Resources Count and Stack Dishes

My two-year-old daughter received these for Christmas, and in the month since then, they've been in constant use all over our house.

I'm not going to try to explain why she loves them, or why (despite my best efforts) she has no interest in using them as a set. But she's often carrying some treasure or other in one of the cups, or presenting me with a piece of wooden birthday cake (Melissa & Doug Birthday Party Birthday Cake on one of the saucers.

I like that there's just ten pieces, rather than the ginormous 30or 40piece tea sets I see out there. I also like that there's an opportunity to talk about colors, shapes, and numbers with her as we use them. I bought them on clearance for less than half of their current price, so it was a good deal for me as well.

I rated them low on durability because I'm pretty sure they'll break once they get stepped on, and because the printing on them is a little blurred on a couple of the dishes-more a sign of poor quality than poor durability, I guess.

However, all in all, they've been a huge hit with her, and I'd recommend them.

This was a gift purchased for my 4 year old daughter, 2 years ago. She & her two younger sisters still play with this and it has held up beautifully. It may seem cheap at first (but really what play-guitars don't) but for the low price it is more than worth it! The thing is, most toy guitars are too preschoolish and are very quiet, or you have to spend a lot of money to get something else. The thing that stands this guitar above all others is the actual music it plays. It actually has a good "rock beat" and a whammy bar that gives it that extra rock flavor. I have not seen any other toy-guitars that sound like this. The bonus is the strap that it has also. The batteries last forever in it and it has been one of those toys that have kept well for a length of time. It has been a hit with all our girl's friends and families and has made for a great gift for other little girls too!

Bought the guitar for my 5 yr old daughter. She loves it! We've only had it for a couple days now, but I've liked what I've seen so far. It was a great price and great for her age. So many toy guitars are Barbie, Sesame Street or some other character themed guitar with silly songs. This is a generic brand guitar with authentic sounding music playing. I highly recommend this toy for other kids who have outgrown sesame street, and want something a little more like the "real thing".

This toy does not require your child to actually blow through, which I was glad for. The actual valve tip is closed for easy cleaning. I don't need every virus that comes through my house pass to all my kids. The only thing I wish it did have is a low / medium / loud volume button. It does have a on / off but that's it. This was bought for my youngest but all of mine from age 9 2 play with it. Great for creative play time. Heavy weight plastic makes it very durable and with little to no paint makes it all the more loved by mom. Lots of fun and loved from when it came out of the box to this day!

Both our sons love this toy. They both have sensory processing problems and problems with fine motor control and the toy helps them with both. Our infant development specialist recommended it and it was an instant hit. The 3 yo loves to stack the cars on it and has fun imagining what the anilmal drivers are doing. Our 17 month old plays with it, too. He loves to push all the buttons and listen to the noises and sounds it makes. It is good for developing fine motor control as they play with all the pieces. It's also stimulating enough to keep their interest. Like I said, it was an instant hit and after two months they both still play with it frequently. It's durable, they haven't broken anything on it and our boys are rough on their toys. I highly recommend it.

My son loves this toy. He was 9 months old when we gave it to him, it makes lots of noises and keeps him focused. It is the first toy that he would play with for more than 5 minutes at a time. My son got this for Christmas last year when he was 1 1/2. He's now pushing 2 1/2 and he still plays with it all the time. There are so many songs, sometimes we still hear one we've never heard before. He has a great time playing with the little cars and putting other cars he owns on the truck. The little cars also fit Fisher Price Little People in them, so we play with it a lot with that and with his Duplo's. I love toys that can be combined with other systems. Great for any little one who likes trucks and rolling things around!

My son got this as a gift last Christmas when he was 8 months old. As soon as we took off the paper, he started playing with this while it was still in the packaging. He wasn't interested in anything else that was going on. Now he is 20 months old and he still plays with his "uck" for a good portion of every day. At one point it was sticking on the horn and honking constantly. I thought the button might be stuck, but once I replaced the batteries, it was as good as new. I think it is neat that each of the animals makes it respond differently when they are put into the driver's seat, and my son likes all the buttons and the cars. He'll even take the animals and line them up on the window sill. Apparently, they also make good teething toys, because he chews on their heads quite a bit. Considering the amount of action this toy sees on a daily basis, it it holding up wonderfully. I have had to reattach the back gate/ramp a couple times, but that's only because my son likes to throw/drop his toys to see what will happen and it landed wrong. It wasn't broken though, and popped right back on! Very durable.I highly recommend this toy and have bought it for birthdays on several occasions.

Maybe it's me, but I do find the voice on this quite annoying but it may not bother others. Also, I cut the strong off of mine immediately not sure why V-Tech would have a string on a child's toy. Overall, not too bad and it seems durable.

My son is obssessed with this truck. He is 14 months old, we gave it to him for his one-year bday and he hasn't let it out of his sight since. Doesn't matter if the sound is on or off. Yes, there is a string underneath it but you can tuck it up in the battery compartment. The music will make you CRAZY (have you ever seen a puppy, a puppy, a puppy, have you ever seen a puppy driving a red truck?), but like I said, my son seems to like it without the music. Definitely worth the purchase!
