Buy Caregiver Cards - Communication Cue Cards (Visual Picture Cues That
These cards are great there are so many subjects my son is autistic and noverbal. I took out about 20 of the most used cards for now and will add more as needed. The blank ones are great as well as I made one for school, more and help. I just label each card and hold in front of him he points and smiles it decreases meltdowns and helps with predictable directions. Cards are small enough that I keep them in my purse and on me at all times.

Cheap VTech Preschool Learning Adventure Learning Globe
My 5 year old loves it and is learning from it. He plays with it a lot. My 3 year old has no interest in it. I think it is hard for a 3 year old to coordinate the hand control for this toy.
He has not grown tired of it after a few weeks. He got a lot of gifts this holiday season, and this is probably his favorite one.
More info that I wasn't sure of when I bought this, so hopefully it helps you:
It comes with all the batteries it needs.
There is a wireless joystick not shown in the picture. You go to places by "flying" to them
You can select what you want to do for example, language phrases or information on the location
It may look like a baby toy, but it definitely is not it is perfectly appropriate for a 5, 6, or 7 year old. It's packed with real information.
You won't find every country on here it's got many major areas and is rich in the content for those locations, but, for example, the entire Middle East is missing.
Great, great toy. Children in the given age range will love it.

I bought this toy for my son to help him learn about the countries. It does not help with that at all. It more tells facts about the continents. Furthermore, they are uninteresting facts. He used this maybe 5 times and now it collects dust in the closet.Honest reviews on VTech Preschool Learning Adventure Learning Globe

It's possible that this toy is both fun and educational, but we wouldn't know because it doesn't work. I left another review, which, strangely, is missing now. This was my son's first request for Christmas, and it was a big disappointment. We even tried brand new batteries which didn't help. The plane gets stuck--originally just over the equator, and needed a little manual help, but minutes later was getting stuck everywhere. We'll let you know what the company (through Amazon) does to help. But now I have to find the box, pack it, print the receipt and shipping label, and bring it to UPS. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.Wednesday, October 8, 2014

My granddaughter's favorite smaller type toy for her b-day. Makes several sounds with different activities. A 1 year old can even hold it and play. She loved it. Would purchase again for another child if necessary. A plus

Discount LeapFrog Patitas abc (Alphabet Pal Caterpillar) Spanish
I bought this toy for my niece for her first birthday. I loved it because it teaches her Spanish in a fun way. The only thing I didn't like was that it did not have the same lessons in English. Nevertheless, my niece loves it because the antlers lights up. Great gift to introduce Spanish into your child's life.

Best Mechanical Ostrich Deals
I bought this item for my 9 year old daughter, at her request. She had already built Tamiya's mechanical rowboat a good start for kids not already into this type of hobby/toy. The educational part is limited to seeing how the circuitry, the motor and the cogwheels work, but the toy's real benefit for my daughter is to overcome the hurdle of reading instructions, dealing with mechanical parts and using tools.

Discount Smart Lab Skull Model Kit
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $19.99
Sale Price: $18.99

This is a fine educational model for kids interested in learning more about the human skull. The skull model is very simplified, of course, but adequate for most children. I teach anatomy at the college level and this model would be far too simple for that purposebut for elementary and middle school kids, it's perfect. It's easy enough to quickly assemble within 5-10 minutes, can be taken apart and re-assembled readily. It helps kids understand the basic anatomy of the skull: hemispheres of the brain, cranial sutures, how the brain fits inside inside the cranium. The jaws can be opened and closed via the rubber band attachment and the eyes really insert into the eye sockets (and glow in the dark, which is a nice touch for the kids.) The accompanying book includes more detailed information, as well as several hands-on experiments relating to brain function.
If you want a large, detailed skull model for learning all of the cranial bones and muscles, this is clearly not the model for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for an inexpensive, fun model to introduce some basics of skull anatomy to a child, this is a nice purchase.
When an adult tried to assemble it, however, a small piece snapped off and made it impossible to use.

2 Smart Cycle BOY Games: Hot Wheels Pedal to the Metal & Go Diego Reviews
I bought these 2 games (Hotwheels & Diego) for my 3 yr old. He sometimes gets a little tired on the smartcycle, in general, with all the pedaling. However, these 2 are by far his favorite games. My 5yr old, who I thought might be too old for this, loves it as well. In fact they both love to play so much that we are looking into getting another smartcycle & tv for their room so we don't have to listen to all the fighting!
Basically, the kids practice educational activities, gain coordination, plus actually get some good excersize, all the while never knowing they are doing anything but having a great time!
With the Hotwheels game, in particular, I noticed a very quick improvement in my 3 yr old's number recognition up to significantly higher numbers than his age group should be expected to know.

I agree with the previous opinion that instructions are poorly done and it took me probably 30 min. to put it together, but there is a 3.5 min video on amazon check it out and you'll see it is not that hard.
When we go out my kid almost always chooses this bike over stroller or car (Step 2 Whisper Ride Buggy Blue) and it is my favorite as well. It is very easy for a parent to steer, removable safety harness makes it very comfortable and safe ride for a kid. Removable canopy is very handy especially in SoCal.
We purchased this bike well in advance for my kids first birthday and bike spent a few months in the box before I even attempted to put it together. I was very disappointed when I found that part of the canopy was damaged during shipping. I contacted Dana at Smart trikes and was pleasantly surprised because the only thing that she asked me was to email her picture of the broken part and shipping address replacement part was UPSed with no other questions asked. Smart trike comes with a great customer service when you need it.
This is really too bad because it is really cute and he likes it; he just looks far too uncomfortable riding in it.
The issue is that his legs are too long. Imagine trying to ride a trike that is too small for your legs. His knees are far too bent making it very awkward.
This wouldn't be a problem if the main shaft of the trike actually allowed for the seat to slide back. If it does slide back, we couldn't figure out how to do it.
Speaking of assembly, the parent steering mechanism that attaches to the back never really worked for us. The fittings were way too tight for most of the assembly and we couldn't get the holes to line up so that we could put the pin in, no matter how hard we pushed and tried to tap it into place. Any one else have this problem?
Despite having this trike, we're looking into purchasing the Kettler and/or the Radio Flyer trikes as these are truly adjustable.
I am constantly having mom's inquire about the trike wherever we go, and I thought maybe I should post some of my comments where I brought it.
First off I should admit that my husband put the trike together so I can't comment on the difficulty. Took him 15min without difficulty, but he is an engineer and good at technical details. There was nothing broken or missing. The front pedals did spin when they were suppose to be disengaged, but that only lasted 3 days until it got worn in.
I saw a lot of bad/mixed reviews when I bought so I thought I'd comment on some of the things I'd seen posted.
1) I saw a lot of comments that it didn't steer straight. Ours worked prefect for 2 weeks then suddenly started veering all over the place and I thought oh no. I looked down and realized my 1 year old was trying to steer. There is no way to lock out your toddler from taking control, but I easily over power my little guy so it is never a problem. If you are having problems steering make sure the culprit is not your little angel :)
2) The sun shade is great, but not meant for strong winds. Also if it rubs against your child's blonde hair over the course of a long walk you may look down to discover your child has pink hair ( which luckily washed out). Easy to remove the shade.
3) the bucket on the back won't take a heavy load. I use to put my purse in the bucket but it has a tendency to dump the bucket and purse (i do have a heavy purse). Since it didn't carry my purse I figured I didn't need it right now and removed it. I'll put it back when we turn it into a dedicated trike.
4) The seat and seatbelt and surrounding safety bars still fit my 2 year old fine and there is still some growing room. Granted my child runs on the smaller side (26-27lbs). Most trikes don't have seat belts, so once he out grows them I'll stop using the belt. ( And one good thing about the safety bars only fitting small children is my 5 year can't steal his brothers trike, which thankfully saves me one sibling fight).
5) The toy phone got played with the first day and I don't think he ever touched it again. The cup holder at the front fits his sippy perfectly.
6) the saddle bag on the handle doesn't fit much. I like to carry a bottle of sunscreen in it for the days I forget the apply before leaving the house. Maybe an extra diaper, pack of wipes, bucket hat and some sunglasses.
7) My only real con about trike is pulling the trike backwards is a bit unstable. I use to pull my strollers through store doors backwards holding the door with my body. The first time I tried it with trike I nearly tipped it. Luckily the trike fits through doors going forward nicely so I haven't had any issues since.
8) both my kids refused to sit in a stroller from 11 months on. This is a great alternative. My son loves to ride in it. He tries to climb in without help.
9) one warning. Don't wear your Sunday best shoes or open toed sandals. My son likes to drag his feet on the ground despite having both the foot rest and foot pedals for options. It doesn't seem to be hurting his stride ride sneakers, but I could see some little kid somewhere scuffing up their nice shoes.
10) I love the grow-with-it factor. How much money have I spent on toys, clothes and baby gear that only lasted for 6months before the child grew out of it? It's wonderful to spend money on something that is going to be useable for years! A year of use, I've already gotten my money's worth, the next 2 years will just icing on the cake.

My son is by no means large. He got this for Christmas 2010. He is now 19 months old, 30 lbs, and 34 inches tall. He's the size of a 2-3 year old and no longer fits in this trike. He actually stopped fitting in this trike about two months ago when he was 28-29 lbs and 32-33 inches. He could barely fit in the seat and the straps won't "click" once he's in the seat. This is really too bad because it is really cute and he likes it; he just looks far too uncomfortable riding in it.

I bought this for my daughter's 1st birthday so she could take walks in it to start. It was great for the first 3 months. Then the safety bar became loose because the plastic molded part where it attached to the trike to secure it became warped and no longer fit securely. We finally had to drive a screw into the back of the seat to secure it. The one plastic pedal continues to fall off and now that my daughter is trying to move her legs with the pedals, she can only do it on one side. Today, 4 months after purchasing it, one side of the canopy just totally fell apart screws and all. We put it back together but I don't expect it to last too long. Also, the canopy is too lightweight and if you walk at more than a snails pace the breeze continues to blow the canopy up and back toward you. I've been very disappointed with this product! The whole thing has really proven to be very cheaply made and has way too many plastic components. I was hoping that she could grow with it but never expect that to only be for 4 months!!! My next purchase will be something made of metal for durability and with less bells and whistles.Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Best Captains' Brass Telescope with Antique Finish, 15" Fully Extended Deals
This was a gift, to my father, who is a war between the states afficianado. He has thousands of dollars of portraits, uniform pieces, flags, commemorative plates, muskets, carbines, rifles, pistols, etc., all dealing with the American Civil War. Being difficult to shop for since he owns everything, I found this to be a perfect gift. He told me the antique finish was very authentic-looking and he was proud to display it among his other mementos.

What a great kit! I wanted to introduce my young daughter to science because, as a young kid, I was so daunted by the subject (and still am).
This kit makes every experiment easy. All the items you need are included, so there is no disappointment like there can be with other kits (ie: the time we got an experiment all set up only to discover we needed to provide our own borax. What the heck is borax?!).
Just open your chosen project's pouch and go. And each experiment only takes a few minutes to set up, perform and clean up, so it won't take up your whole afternoon.
It's a little pricey for the actual components, but for the stress-free, educational experience I get to provide for my child, it's totally worth the price. The kit is easy to use and the supplies needed to make and learn from your science project is included. There are many topics to choose from.
