My daughter is in a spanish immersion kindergarten and this is very helpful with letter sounds, colors, etc in spanish. Also my three year old plays with it in both the spanish and english settings. It is made very well unlike a few other bilingual toys we have purchased.

I ordered this for my 3 yr old for Christmas. It was projected that it might not make it time for Christmas, but it arrived in plenty of time. This toy has 4 different games, in 2 languages, so there's actually 8 options. Each game builds on what they learn from the previous level, so my daughter won't outgrow this toy for at least a couple years. Great way to teach or learn basic spanish with your kids.

I'm guessing you know how the Tag system works if you're reading this, so I'm focusing the review on the content of the book rather than the system itself. Go to LeapFrog TAG Reading System Green (or the purple one or Toy Story one) for device-specific reviews.

The story line follows the movie, except that Gaston is not included. At the end in lieu of any trickery from Gaston, her father is just sick, and in lieu of any battle scene, she looks in the mirror to see that Beast is hurt and returns to his side just in time. The story is summarized at the end with this line, "The prince learns what true beauty is. True beauty comes from the heart." My daughter was a little thrown off by the missing Gaston story line, but it didn't bother her too much.

Leapfrog advertises the book as teaching these things: long vowels, short vowels, sight words, and rhyming. The title is more story-focused and less game-focused than some Tag books, but my daughter likes that better anyway.

No activities at the end of this story, which my daughter enjoys...but good story. :) The tag books titled, Tag Activity Story, are the ones to get that are more interactive with the Tag reader. LOVE the TAG!!! My three year old is learning so much and is always reaching for her "computer"!! :)

This was the first Hexbug Nano that I purchased, as I have been eying these toys on the store shelves for some time now. This is an intriguing little toy that does what it says it does, it acts like a real bug! I put it on my desk at work and it zips around bumping off of things. This thing is as fast as a real bug, and looks like a small cockroach when it is in motion.

The special skeleton add-on makes it look really cool, but does impact its functionality. Normally, if the Nano gets knocked over on its side or back, it rights itself in about 3-5 seconds. With the skeleton, it changes the weight and shape enough so that usually when it tips on its side, that's it. It is stuck there. Thankfully you can easily take the skeleton piece on and off at will.

The skeleton piece glows in the dark, and it glows VERY well. I have had a lot of glow in the dark toys in my life, and this one is by far the best. It glows very bright, even after being under a light source for only a few seconds. And of course, it looks really awesome when the little glowing skeleton piece is running around in the dark.

The coffin carrying case is a nice touch, and it functions well for both storage and display.

Finally, I wanted to touch on the durability of these things. Usually, when the Nano is running around on my desk, the trip ends with it falling off. It has taken a 3 foot fall off the desk onto carpet and plastic floor covering (for my office chair wheels) and hasn't suffered in the least from any of them. In fact, usually when it falls onto the plastic, it gets back on its feet in seconds, and keeps on running around! The durability comes from the simplicity of the design. There is only 1 moving part, and it is enclosed and supported. I don't want to tell you how it works because that is part of the fun of getting one.

If you are thinking about any of the Nano series, go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Although it's just like any other NanoBug HexBug, the 'coffin' case and glow in the dark skeleton (removable) attachment make for a good addition to my two sons Nano collection(which I love to play with as well.) It just stands out and is a cute concept, like the bunny ears and other holiday ones. I am sure any person who is into Hexbug Nano's would enjoy this edition!

Mine came quickly, still in the shrinkwrap, brand new, and well shipped from the vendor. We are all very pleased!

After checking these guys out on the shelves we finally gave in a bought one, of course we went with the Halloween edition. They mimic real bugs in several ways and kinda resemble a cockroach when they're in motion. They zoom around often times bump into walls, the cool thing is they can get right back up again.

So there are quite a few neat thing about the Halloween edition, first off the little guy comes in a coffin. This is great for display and storage, so it's a two in one there. On his back there's a special skeleton add-on, my only complaint about this is it pops off when he bumps into things. I have heard that it prevents them from getting back up again but I have yet to have any issues with that. His skeleton piece glows in the dark, very well. It only needs a bit of light and it's bright as can be so you'll have no problems watching him zip around.

The durability of the HexBug is great! So overall I think this is a great toy for adults and children alike.

First, the bag. It is a higher quality than others I've seen and there is enough room. You don't have to have a degree in packaging to put things back. (It could use a side pocket to hold "lung" etc.)

The manikins are easier to set up and clean than most.

AED pads can be used with no concern.

Chest rise is far more visible and realistic.

The head *must* be tilted to allow air flow. Some claim this but it does not work out that way.

I think the lights are far better than a metronome for getting the feel of what is needed.

Finally, the feel you get when doing compressions is far closer to reality then you get with an all foam manikin.

Rumor has it that they will be producing an infant manikin in the near future. Worth waiting for.

Prestan manikins really are easy to use, and for their clean up, 30 sec. is enough, since you only need to change lungs. Students just love the light and the clicking sound! The manikins are easy for compressions: they don't hurt student's hands. Also, they are very light; 4 Baby Anne manikins are about the same weight as 4 Prestan.

I have several sets of Flash of Brilliance flash cards and they are fantastic for my students. Unlike most flash cards that use cartoon-style artwork, Flash of Brilliance uses real photos. I find that this provides a lot of educational value. The cards are also very thick and are the only cards that I can find that can withstand my K-2 phonics students. My sets of cheaper cards from other vendors get ripped, torn, and bent beyond recognition, while these have lasted for several years. The cards are great for teaching beginning sounds, learning new vocabulary, and also for learning sign language. They cost a little bit more, but are 100% worth it. This latest set is really nice I like that there are several objects with the same beginning letter sound. Highly recommend.

Cheap PlanToys Plan Preschool Tambourine Music

I love how this tambourine looks, and love Plan Toys in general. It's very well made and durable and super sweet. My main complaints are that it's hard to get it to make a nice sound. You have to hold the handle in just the right spot. My 10 month old, who loves his xylophone and maracas has shown zero interest in this so far. Hopefully he will once he's a bit bigger.

I fell in love with this tambourine the moment I held its smooth, wooden handle. Unlike the other toy tambourines I've tried out, the sound this instrument makes is really pleasant. It's light enough that my 18 month old can play it. I think our family will be enjoying this for years to come!

My son loves percussion, he plays on drums, loves his eggs that have rice in them but this one isnʻt his favorite. Adults can use it pretty proficiently but itʻs kind of soft and the sound it makes is a little dull. I wish it was more tinny and louder. Having said that, I give it three stars because it feels "safe" there are no parts that could get into his mouth and choke him and the sides are smooth.

Now in all fairness we did buy this toy a little 'early' by standards of musical toys. Our one year old loves musical toys though and figures most of them out and plays with them a lot. She thought it was great for a few minutes, then has barely touched it since. The noise is muddled and takes a firm shake to create. It's cute and I like that any of the metal parts are hidden, and seems very durable and well made all around too. I like it, but she doesn't so much. Maybe as she gets older.

4 stars for one reason. Great product, but a little confusing to determine how this will "fit" in the hands of your child. While we weren't looking for a full size guitar, obviously, we still didn't want to spend the money buying a child's size--especially the cheaper made varieties that would just fall apart despite being the right size. The reviews for this did mention great craftsmanship, which is true. However, I didn't realize it was Ukulele size. It didn't bode well with our 3 year old son who complained that it wasn't a "real guitar." Looking back, in efforts to make him feel like he had a "real guitar," we probably would have spent a few dollars more on a First Act brand (we are musicians and recognize these are less than par--even for 'student' models) but as a toy, would have done the trick! So if this applies to your need, hope the tip helps.

Inchimals Review

I hesitantly bought this toy for my son for Xmas, trying to find something for him to learn math with. He is a bright 3.5 year old. I figured I would be working with him using these wooden rulers, which are of a much higher quality than I was expecting. So on Xmas he opens the toy, and plays with them himself, measuring daddy's foot, his own foot, etc. I show him the included book about how the rulers represent numbers, and how these numbers can be added together... just a cursory review. Well, about an hour later I was in the kitchen, and he comes running in and says, "Mommy! Guess what? Eight plus four is twelve!". Needless to say, I was pretty amazed... so I would have to say this is a pretty amazing toy --you WILL have to work with the child, its not necessarily something that will fascinate them for long hours of play like legos or something... but it sure does hit the nail on the head when it comes to learning math. And its fun, too. I can't tell you how impressed I am. Plus, these rulers are build to last... so long as you don't throw them in the bath or something. I highly recommend this set.

Pros:

-Great idea for a toy that teaches math! The idea is in the spirit on Montessori counting rods (check those out too!). There are 12 rods/blocks ranging from 1-12 inches tall; each features a different animal. My son loves to add up two animals to get the third one. At age 3, he uses included notebook with tasks independently (by himself) and even scribbles appropriate numbers in the notebook. This is one of the toys that he picks up and works with by himself:).

Cons:

-Upon opening the box there was a strong smell like that of some markers, or glue?. Blocks did not smell, just the box, maybe it was the marker that was included in the box. The blocks are made in China.

-Blocks came with some small defects in paint and the edges chip off paint very fast. The paint cover is glossy like that on Thomas and Friends wooden locomotives, but chips much easier.

-On one side of the block, there are little stripes marking the inches like on the ruler, but without numbers. My son counts the stripes and there is always one two many (he does not know that you don't count the first one). It would be better if one-inch intervals were indicated with alternating colors as in Montessori counting rods.

Otherwise, perfect toy and learning material.

I found this toy described in a home schooling magazine and sought out a more reasonable price here at Amazon. (Which I found when I purchased the Inchimals last week... $22).

My almost 5 year old LOVES this product. We have been extremely casual about pre-school this year, and he begs to "do school" with the Inchimals. He has been measuring toys and household items. He has also been learning to recognize the numbers he hadn't mastered yet.

They are great in that they are specific lengths and can be laid out (or stood up like stairs) to show the relationship in size. He can see that 7 is bigger than 6. He can count the marked out inches along the side or dots on the end. As we have only had this product a few days now, I can see how in the future we can use them as a tool for learning addition and subtraction. This is the best math manipulative!

My daughter loves this and carries it every way with her. the concept of a laptop with a mouse has really excited her. Looking at the product photo (zoomed in) and the manufacturer's product description ("Colorful wooden beads can slide around a blue wire over and over as there is no end to this maze") I was certain that the beads are made of solid wood painted with non-toxic paint. Well, no, the beads are plastic, and a couple of them have something dark melted together into the light colored plastic. I am EXTREMELY disappointed, not at all what I would have expected from HAPE!!!

This is a great toy for a child right around 1 years old. We thought it would be a little bigger like those huge ones that you see in dentist waiting rooms, but this one is significantly smaller so pay attention to the measurements before ordering. With that said, it's still good enough to hold a child's interest, which is all that matters.
