I was in LOVE with this item at first and still would be if it hadn't broke after one day. I noticed the yellow tip on the end of the tape measure was coming apart but put off looking at it until it was completely off. And of course I also put off returning it so now I have to find a way to make it work.

First and foremost, let's talk about the bad news. We did have trouble with the tape measure getting off track in its wheel house. This was easily fixed by unscrewing the toy and re-looping it, and it actually provided yet another lesson for our child, as she got to see exactly how a tape measure works on the inside.

Our 3 1/2 year old absolutely loves this thing. Right now we are working on very basic things like longer and shorter, and working on the feet designations (for example: find something that is more than 1 foot long).

I can see this product also being useful for teaching fractions later on. Highly recommend!

We bought a carrying case when we got the innotab and it was completely worthless. It only protected the tablet when it was not in use and properly stored. Good luck remembering to do that everytime a 3 year old decides they want to move onto something else.

I bought this game for my six year old daughter's birthday in hopes that all the children (4,6,10)would play together and that the grownups could play too without completely zoning out. It has far exceeded my expectations! The kids really enjoy it. My ten year old son says he loves "the imaginative spirit about it, and it's just a really fun game for everybody." We've taken it to gatherings and not only do the girls like it, the boys really like it, too. The girls say it's fun because they get to "save the princess!" And the grownups wherever we go get interested and start playing, too! It promotes cooperative play, not competitive, and you get really creative about the ways to use the resources you have (a firefly, a candle, a horse!) to solve the obstacles facing you. Another plus is that the game pieces have the French words as well as the English, so we've had some fun with that as well. The greatest fun for this homeschooling mom is watching my three kids laugh together, imagine together, and work together towards a common empowering goal. This game is creating wonderful memories for our family and friends. I highly recommend it!

This game is awesome. It is so simple that my 5yo and 3yo can play it together alone. It is highly imaginative and inspires a lot of creativity the stuff my kids have come up with trying to save that princess has been hilarious and also demonstrates some really great problem-solving. There is no one winner we either all win or all lose, which is great for eliminating fighting. Our girls (ages 4-7) were first introduced to this game about a month ago while playing with a friend. We've been having issues with our younger daughter not handling board games well with some of the more traditional games (Candyland, Shutes & Ladders) for her age, and those games have ceased to be entertaining for our older daughter (or me!). Anyway, Princess has been a great way for the girls (and their friends) to play cooperatively and it is gratifying to see them work together to rescue the princess. Our youngest easily handles the disappointment of not saving the princess every game since it's a collective loss. Bye-bye tears and grumpiness. Hello family time, fun, and creativity. We also bought Max for Christmas since we've been impressed at how well the cooperative games work for our family. That game has more to do with odds/strategy, whereas Princess involves creatively using the pieces in addition to chance. Also, with Max, not necessarily all the critters are saved/eaten, but for the Princess, she is either rescued or not. Both girls like each game and often we play 2-3 rounds of one game, then switch to the other. It is more fun with 2-4 kids and having a parent "help" with the game rules the first few times definitely helps transition the kids so they can play it without an adult. I think older (9 yrs +) kids might get bored playing Princess with same aged peers, but having a mixed age group (of any age) keeps the interest level since every age level seems to have a different perspective on how to creatively rescue the princess. In any case, it is a nice way to have older siblings play with their younger siblings without all the drama.

I had this game as a young child myself and loved to play it with my friends. It is a great teambuilding game and the difficulty can be easily adjusted to meet the needs and ages of the players. Recently, I brought it with me to play with some kids that I babysit. I adapted the rules and successfully played the game with a 3 year old. She loves it!! This year for Christmas, I bought the game for her and her sister. She is 5 and her sister is 3. They both love it! The 5 year old remembers all of the extra fun things we added in:

During the game, the players have to confront various challenges to help rescue the princess and make group decisions. One of the challenges is to cross water to get to the castle. We chose to use the rowboat to get across. Instead of simply playing the card, we put the card down and added in rowing actions. Similarly, when we got to the guard, we added dialogue for him. These are just little fun tidbits I have added to help make the game more fun/sometimes easier for the younger kids. It is amazing what they remember over a period of 3+ months of not playing the game.

Overall, the game is a great problem solving, team building, choice making game. Great for all ages to play together!!

The company that makes the game, also makes lots of other cooperative team games. They are all awesome and all very fun to play. They are really different because they are not your typical competitive winner/loser games. These are games where everyone is a winner and there are natural problems that need to be solved. Great selection of games!!

I bought this to keep my 5-year old daughter occupied on days when the weather is bad and I have never seen her so absorbed in a board game. She wanted to play it all weekend long, and even when I was cooking dinner and couldn't play with her, she played by herself, taking turns for both of us. Now that's a good game! It is fairly easy to win every time, as one reviewer points out. But sometimes the win is easy and straightforward, and sometimes you scrape by just before dark falls; either way the game teaches cooperation because all parties have to agree on how to overcome the obstacles. i must say, it made for much more enjoyable playtime and bonding to have the game end with a joint celebration of "we won, we won, we won!" rather than having a winner and a loser.

Cheap TimeBuddy

I bought this for my 5 year old son, who has a tendency to dawdle and get sidetracked in his morning and nighttime routines, making him late and creating tension between him and me or his dad. When the TimeBuddy arrived, he was very excited about it, and I loved the activity book and loads of repositionable stickers. The product is cute and appealing for a young child. The major disappintment is that this is really a clock that covers a 24 hour period, and you are only given less than an inch per hour in which to place the stickers, In other words, I had to cram the potty, breakfast, getting dressed, and toothbrush stickers side by side in one little segment. This really accomplished nothing for me, as he would not know that he was supposed to be finished with all four until the hand moves to the "leaving for school" sticker--and by then it's too late. And then the hours when he is at school and sleeping take up huge amounts of unused space. What I needed was something that would allow me to give him 5-10 minute increments in which he would need to complete each little morning task and then move on to the next. This is probably my fault, as I opted for TimeBuddy over "On Task On Time" timer because of the HUGE price difference, free shipping and reusable stickers. Now I may need to shell out the cash anyway. TimeBuddy would be better suited to a person who has many daily events spread out throughout the day, or to help your child recognize a general daily routine, such as breakfast, playtime, naptime, chore time, supper, and bedtime. It could work great for a preschool classroom or a young homeschooling child who cannot yet tell time but needs to know the daily routine. It's not really as helpful if you have a child in school all day. If you need to manage minutes in helping your child stay on task and move nio a timely manner from one small task to the next, check out the On Task On Time Timer. Much more pricey, but the only thing out there I have found so far that fits the bill.

We bought this for our son in hopes that it could function as a sort of visual schedule/reminder. I was surprised that the clock hands didn't actually function, and the button on the front shorted out after two months. The stickers also peeled and curled, wouldn't stick properly, and fell off at the slightest provocation. Essentially it wound up being a $40 toy for my son instead of being any actual help for scheduling. Now it's mostly a frustration because it shorted out, so we'll probably be tossing it. I had very high hopes for the product, it just fell really short of my expectations.

Timebuddy is an excellent product. I If you get one for your child, you can tell them you are getting them a toy, but what you are really getting is the little helper for yourself. I have a four year old daughter and got her a Timebuddy about couple months ago and we all are extremely happy about it. She thinks its a toy, because she customized it herself, chose all the activity stickers and we recorded the messages together. She keeps it on her dresser and instead of asking me what to do next, she goes to her room, looks at the clock and then tells me" Mommy, its time to take a bath" or "Mommy its time to go to school". I find it amazing. Even if it eliminates half of the "Is it time yet?" questions for your child, I think it is worth every penny. The Timebuddy is easy to use, very colorful and very kid and parent friendly. I think there should be at least one Timebuddy in every household.

When we first got this toy, my daughter was 8 months old. She figured out how to use it right away and played with it all the time. It's been two months and the toy is broken. The sounds that play do not correspond to the activity taking place. For example, when she pops a door open it will say "Good Bye" and when she pops open the circle it will say "rectangle". I no longer have the receipt for this toy, so I doubt I could get a refund. I'm really disappointed because she loved this toy at first. She's not that interested in it now that I keep the volume turned off.

My daughter has played with this toy since she was 7 months old. She is now 12 months and loves to hear the characters speak and sing. It is not too loud, which can be a huge problem with electronic toys, and has stood the test of a 3 year old.

These are a great idea and we were super excited to get them. The fittings are way too tight on the blocks and are even difficult for an adult to put together and take apart to build different words. My kids quickly became frustrated with this aspect and eventually they went into the closet to collect dust. They would have been PERFECT had they went together more easily like legos. We use our traditional wooden letter blocks for word building more than we ever use these. You just have to invest in a couple of sets of those whereas these come with enough duplicate letters to allow word building.

My 18 month old absolutely adores this piano! This piano is very well-made, very sturdy, does not topple over, stood up to my son's abuse (he is at the age that he thinks everything is a drum!). It compliments our living room deco, even though our living room is white. The little bench is an asset, it makes him want to sit down and play the piano longer. BEST THING ABOUT THIS PIANO BATTERY FREE! So though it's pricey to buy, you save on those expensive batteries replacement. It has very soothing (yeah, even with my son banging away), subtle keys, unlike some of those very annoying toys these days. It's one of his dad's favorite toy too!

The Schoenhut Elite Spinet was as expected/advertised. The piano was the hit of our grand daughters christmas. While she "plays" it constantly, we can't wait for her to get a little older (she is currently 2 1/2)to learn to play it better and to the music. Regardless, we are very happy with the purchase and relieved that you can still buy quality products that will hold up to vigorous play and will not go out of style or interest any time soon. We personally think this will spur our grand daughter on other musical interests not a bad thing.

The quality of this piece is poor.

(1) The look : cheap plywood with a sloppy application of lacquer. (Bare spots, the 5-layer ends (cross-section) of the plywood showing through, etc.)

(2) Of 25 keys, 2 did NOT work on arrival.

(3) The construction is 'loose' with boards not holding together particularly securely. The whole thing 'rattles'.

(4) It STINKS! The varnish smell is extremely strong. Strong enough to give me a beating headache. If I wasn't planning on returning the item, I would need to find a garage or similar to air it out for several weeks before it would be suitable for a home.

Despite the fact that this piece is marketed as 'Schoenhut, Quality Pianos since 1872', it is in fact made in China.

The sound is 'okay', but surprisingly weak for such a piece.

Update:

After contacting the company, they gave instructions about dismantling the piano to get the broken keys fixed. I did this, but it didn't work. So, they sent me a whole new piano. All the keys work, but it (the varnish) still *STINKS*, so I am upgrading my review by one star for good customer service.

I appreciate well-made products, and this one does not disappoint. The discs are real hardwood and the lettering indeed looks as permanent as the wood itself. It will stand up to the rigors of my toddler playing with it, and when he's done it still looks great (and is thought-provoking) when I stack it on my desk. The form is actually playful in its simplicity, it is very much like a child's stack toy.

As hard as it is to imagine the discovery of new elements, with this product it is pretty easy to see how they might fit into the overall table and relate to the other elements. The ordering of the elements and visual appearance of the product bring back mental images of orbital probability fields from high-school chemistry class whenever I look at it, it definitely has affected what I think about when I see the periodic table. Obviously I don't make my living thinking about chemistry, but I do appreciate having this to ponder upon.

This was ordered as a gift for my favorite armchair scientist. Upon receipt of this item it was immediately obvious that this is a suitable gift. Many of the letters are burned too deeply and illegible. Some of the disks are not "printed" evenly and have letters falling off the edge of the wheel. This item is completely useless if it is not legible and attractive which it is not.

Just a quick review to state that mine came in excellent shape with all the symbols & letters burned into the wood in the correct spots so that all a legible. However, the "burn in" was not even as some symbols are very dark while others very light. Also, it would have been nice to finish the wood with shallack or some other poly. It's as if the manufacturer went "half-way".

This is a periodic table.....nothing more. In fact it is less as the atomic weights are missing. I work with High school kids and the atomic weight is needed for many problems. It is great for a paper weight or to learn the basic elements but it really not done correctly. It is "half" good.
