I ordered these cubes to teach my son about fractions, decimals, percentages and how they interrelate. The cubes that arrive are marked with fractions on one side and blank on the other three. That completely defeats the purpose, and as far as I'm concerned, makes it 3/4ths worthless since only 1/4 of the sides are marked. It would have been one thing if the picture didn't show the other sides marked, but they CLEARLY are. As far as I'm concerned, this is false advertising.

I bought this manipulative to help 4th and 5th graders better understand the concepts of, and interrelationships between, fractions, decimals, and percentages. It has been especially beneficial for struggling students, especially those that are visual learners. It has really helped my students to develop a much clearer understanding of these concepts.

Another reviewer commented that they were very disappointed because the pieces were not labeled on all sides. That customer must have received a faulty product. The Equivalency Cubes I received are clearly labeled on 3 sides: one side has the fraction, one has the decimal, and one has the percentage.

I already own the Learning Resources Deluxe Fraction Tower, but I bought these to help youth who were struggling with converting fractions to percents or decimals. So far, it's been a hit! I love that they are built to teach all the aspects of the base ten number system, such as unit fractions (fractions that equal one). How 10% is the same as 1/10 and .1. The kids love that they are colorful and stick together like legos! In fact, my five year old son has a great time dumping all of these out of the package and trying to see what kinds of things he can build with them. This has given me some great opportunities to introduce fractions to him, without him knowing that he's learning. (A parent's dream!) I would highly recommend these for any setting: home, classroom, tutor, homeschool, etc.

I use this when I am cooking with my daugther to help gain a concept of fractions and whole numbers. She is only 5 and I do not expect her to fully grasp the concept, but using this in conjunction with measuring cups and following a recipe I read out to her makes for a solid learning experience. It just adds to the fun of the activity, so it's a nice twist. I think something like this will be huge as she gets older and can visually appreciate the fractions and how they relate.

I first saw this in '98 at the gym and it immediately motivated me. Everytime I went to the gym I could not help but stare before and after working out. It became one of my biggest reasons to return. The biggest problem I had in my traveling discussion series "Fat, not with a P.H." was the transportation of the fat itself. It was very difficult to keep fresh, and would begin to dissipate over time, leaving me with Tupperware containers that looked more like orange sherbet that had been left out to melt.

My speeches are meant to uplift and enlighten, and I found more and more people either being put off by the smell (I can't even begin to describe it, but imagine if your colon was trying to win a "who can go the longest without showering" contest), or simply mesmerized by the sheer sight of the clumps of fat sitting on the podium, literally sliding away under the spotlights like a pat of butter on a hot griddle.

Using fat in demonstrations is unhealthy and rather offensive, I've come to find out. And when someone told me about these replicas, I was simply amazed. First off, they look like the real thing, if memory serves. All I have now is an orange stain on my passenger seat to go by (note to all, crack a window on those hot days if you're going shopping and leaving your demo fat in the car). Secondly, although they offer no value on those long "no time to turn off to get a bite" trips, the end result is a firm, and much easier to handle sample (which has helped tremendously during the "hot fat potato" portion of my seminar where the group gathers in a circle and tosses the fat from person to person).

One down point is the color. It is very appetizing, and a few of my more zoftig followers have asked if it was an actual food product. (luckily, I keep the "sherbet" close at hand for those moments.)

This is the only product I recommend. I was let down considerably when I was ready to begin my seminars on childhood obesity, and ordered a catalog from a company called "Baby Phat." Trust me, they do not offer the selection that this company provides. From now on, this is my one-stop shop for all my fake fat needs.

Overall, if you're in the market for fake fat, go with this product. And if I may suggest a more marketable name..

My wife works in the health/wellness/weight loss field, and this is just the ticket, to illustrate what 5 pounds of ugly fat looks like. If your goal is to show people what 5 pounds of fat, all in one ugly lump looks like, this is your product.

It isn't the easiest thing to clean, as it has an uneven 'rubbery' type surface, that seems to catch and hold dirt/grime, but warm soapy water seems to do the job.

It seems kind of pricey, for what it is, but if you are wanting an anatomically correct fat replica, I don't know where else you could get one.

Tell Me a Story card decks like this one are great teaching tools for the classroom or for parents at home. I have used this deck with a group of elementary aged children. We spread the deck on the floor and take turns drawing a card and adding to the story. By having each child repeat all the story that's gone before, you increase memory skills, and creating his or her own new part of the story helps creativity. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Where do I start when listing the appeal of this set of blocks? I fell in love with them at first sight. I'm even buying an extra set for an architect friend without kids who likes creative, artsy structures. But of course they are designed for babies, toddlers, and even children and they also love them.

Other features and benefits:

1. These go WAY beyond a standard set of blocks. You know the ones I mean: the traditional ones which consist of simple solid-colored squares or perhaps a mix of rectangles, cubes, and circles and a limited number of colors. Of course, there is nothing wrong with basic blocks but Whimsy Blocks encourage extra creativity. Images of human faces, flowers, hearts, and more allow youngsters who want to go beyond building houses to design people, gardens, and a mix of creations. Fun! And yes, I had to have my turn with these after the visiting kids were in bed.

2. Whoever created the designs on each of these "Whimsey Blocks" (and they truly are whimsical) really understands what appeals to young ones. The images are easy to see, the colors are vivid, and the shapes are amazingly varied. I particularly liked the blocks with the smiling faces because mobiles and toys with face designs were among the first which grabbed our young ones' attention.

3. These are made of thick wood which is easy to grasp. Even the smaller pieces are simple to pick up by small fingers. And no splinters (probably something you'd assume but I'm pointing it out anyway).

4. Photos on the back of the box provide design inspiration for parents who want to demonstrate stacking skills.

5. If you live in a small space, the 15 blocks have a very small footprint and store compactly. Even a tiny bedroom or play space should have room for these.

6. This is one of those toys which can last for years. Even 4 and 5 year olds can practice balancing skills with the various shapes. So your baby or child could get years of use out of these, a bargain for the dollars spent. They can begin to use the blocks as babies and keep using them through preschool or perhaps even beyond then.

7. Finally, a real selling point for us is that these are so lovely they can be displayed in any room where a dose of color is desirable. Visitors don't automatically know these are toys and usually can't resist touching and experimenting with these themselves. As noted above, I'm giving a set to an architect friend.

Classy move by Amazon: In the description, Amazon literature notes: "Our testers .... did notice that a few of the decals on the blocks were beginning to flake around the edges. This didn't cause any unsightly peeling at the time of testing, though it could be an issue after a few months of well-loved play."

We haven't experienced this yet but I sure do appreciate the "heads up" from Amazon's product info on this. Impressive!

My 10-month old loves these blocks almost as much as I do. We are regularly fighting over who gets to play with the block that has a hole in it. She always wins and its not fair. Also, I can build really cool block towers and she just knocks them down. Great colors (on both sides), super durable construction, and not too small features all make these a great product. Fun!

My 13 month old likes them. He's not old enough yet to really stack them, but they are colorful enough to catch his eye, pleasant to touch and pass from hand to hand, and from his hand to mine. I think they are actually pretty fun to stack, as they come in non traditional shapes which make building kinda cool.

The only downside is 1) as stated earlier, I wish there were more, and 2) some of the pieces -especially the little flower one -seem to already be chipping their paint, and we've only had them for about 6 weeks. But I have nothing to compare the blocks to, so I'm guessing that's par for the course with a block a kid plays with as much as mine does with these.

Works perfectly, as advertised. It's on the expensive side compared to, for example, the Summit Backyard Safari Bug Vacuum for around $14. That one comes with batteries, but read the reviews, the batteries are cheap and often worn down, giving the impression it doesn't work well. I ordered that one first. It was good when it worked, but the battery door screw was stripped to begin with (new product) and the batteries seated poorly. This one feel much better built, and the battery screw and compartment are much more robust. The Summit one is shaped like a gun; hold the handle and pull the trigger. But that leads to what I suspect makes many users think the vacuum is too weak. Yes, the vacuum on any bug toy is weak so it doesn't damage the bugs. This means it can't suck very well STRAIGHT UP. With the Summit, the temptation is to hold it vertically over the bug, and that just isn't effective. With the Uncle Milton, the end of the sucker is cut at an angle, encouraging one to hold it at just a little over horizontal. This works wonders for the vacuum of both units, although this one works even better since it is cut on an angle.

At first it seemed it would be clumsy, without the Summit's pistol grip. But again, this encourages one to not try to suck straight up. The battery compartment has a flat bottom, and this makes it very convenient to set on a floor or table for observation of the bugs. It has both an on-off switch and a push button. Seemed like this might be extraneous, but it's a good feature. The push button is used for on/off during a bugging session. Then, the unit can be turned off with a slide switch so if it's put in luggage or a toy chest etc. it won't accidentally come on.

What a relief to find this one well constructed, after I spent almost an hour trying to make the Summit battery connections work reliably.

I'm not actually using this as a toy but as a bug catcher. It works great! I can catch a bug in the little basket and then release it outside. Much easier and cleaner than removing squashed bug off a wall.

I purchased this item as I was tired of trying to catch flies that got into our home. They would drive me nuts bouncing off the windows and I did not like killing them. Plus killing them would leave a mess on the walls and windows. The biggest reason is that it would drive me nuts trying to capture them. It would take 10 minutes or more just to catch one fly and let him go. Now...... it only takes 2 seconds and I have them! Open the canister and let them go outside. We also have caught several spiders on the walls and ceilings which can be really difficult to catch as we all know. Again... 2 seconds later and we are letting them go outside. Perfect addition to ALL households! I cant imagine life without this now.

I had to buy three toys similar toys so the kids wouldn't fight over them. This is one of those toys that they go back to repeatedly and is interesting enough to keep their attention for a half hour or so.

The voice can get irritating to adults after awhile (particularly when three are talking at once), but not as bad as some other toys.

Good for teaching colors, music, shapes, and sequencing memory. You flip the knob on the left and the robot does something different like show you how to play a song.

I recommend removing it from it's container (not easy) and replacing the batteries. The batteries on one of my purchases went dead before I took it out of the box.

Our 18 month old kept grabbing his big brother's Alphie, but we had to hide the cards that go with that one so he wouldn't destroy them. He also loves music, so we decided to get him this toy so he could have his own robot to carry around, and its perfect. He can't take advantage of all the educational aspects yet at his age, but he loves this toy and can grow with it. It is smaller than the original Alphie, which was good for us, but be aware if that will be disappointing for you.

I am SO suprised on how great this toy is! At first i didnt know all of the functions so i thought it was just another annoying toy that my daughter could torture me with, but now that i have actually sat down and investigated the toy it is really quite awesome. The eyes move with a little knob on the side of its head to reveal music to play with a "match the colors". It teaches kids 3 songs to play, colors, shapes, and has different instrument modes and a "repeat" button on the top of the head. Definitly a toy i feel great about my daughter playing with even though it's loud. A+

As another reviewer pointed out, this item is not blanket size in any way. It is truly wash cloth size, with 7.5" side to side square. The 14x11 given dimensions is from front corner to tip of the tail and side corner to corner IF stretching the material. Is it cute? Yes, it is, but more like $5-7 cute, not $15 cute. Labeling this item as a Blanket Puppet friend is a dupe, and should be classified as false advertisement, especially with the very misleading dimensions provided. Wouldn't not recommend due to the price at all.

I have been having trouble getting my son interested in learning his letters. He loves everything Thomas, so I bought this hoping it would increase his interest, which it did. He practices letter sounds with me several times a day now. There are a few cards that a phonetics teacher would not have put in there such as "Knapford Station" (which does not make a "k" sound) being a "K" word. There are a few cards that have long vowel sounds, which surprises me, because generally these aren't taught until after a child begins reading words and has accomplished several short vowel word families. It seems like all of the ABC card decks contain these though. When I separate out the above-mentioned cards, this is an excellent pack and I greatly appreciate someone having made it. It has made the difference for us.

I used these cards as part of a behavior plan with one of my students in a preschool for special needs kids. The child was exhibiting some inappropriate behaviors and was not completely responding to positive guidance alone. He is a big fan of trains in general and Thomas in particular. Throughout the day, when the child exhibits appropriate behavior, I stamp each of eight wheels of a choo-choo train coloring page with a bingo marker. At the end of the day, if all wheels are stamped, he receives a Thomas card of his choosing. He get's very excited as he has something tangible to reinforce his best efforts and he is learning the alphabet as well. It's really working! (Of course I continue to use positive guidance in conjunction with this approach to foster understanding of why and how we behave in certain ways i.e., using words instead of hitting.)
