Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I gave this to my nearly 6 year old, and he hasn't been able to stop playing. He even had to bring it over to a playdate to show it off. I asked him how he liked it, and he said, "Great!" There you go-that's a 6 year old's code for "5 stars."

We've been a huge fan of the Tag pen and books, and this one is no exception. Actually, it might be the best one that we own yet. I think that there's only one negative aspect to the Tag reading system, and that is that the Tag pen will not hold enough books. Keep that in mind if you're looking to get more Tag books. This book takes up a good chunk of the pen's memory storage, so if you already have a lot of Tag books loaded on your pen, you'll probably have to make some room.

is it worth it? Definitely. It is a kid-friendly introduction to the body. With a press of the pen, the child can learn about various systems-the skeletal, nervous, digestive, respiratory and muscular systems. There's a "board game" that quizzes the child on what they've learned with true/false ("yes" or "no") answers. For example, the game will ask if the femur is part of the skeletal system, and if they get the correct answer, they move an extra space. This game can have one or two players, which is great because my son can play by himself or invite his younger sister, a friend, or me to join him. There are tons more that this Discovery Pack teaches-my son has literally already spent hours playing with it, and I'm sure he has hours more before he'll even begin to get bored. He's traced the path of the digestive system. He's learning about how different animals' bodies differ from our own. He's learned about the brain being the control center of the body. He's learning correct words for parts of the body that I would never expect a 6 year old to know! The Discovery Pack even has an original song that he's been singing along with. He's learning, and he's having fun-it makes me so happy to witness!

The Discovery Pack also includes some stickers, which we haven't even touched yet. The stickers work with the Tag reading pen, which sounds like they'll be a lot of fun, too. He'll be able to build a glow in the dark skeleton and fill out milestones on a growth chart.

I'm very excited to learn what else my son will discover with this set, and possibly get more of these Read and Learn packs! We might have to make more room on our pens, but I think it will be worth it.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First off, the Human Body Discovery Pack is pretty neat...it's not book form like the other Tag products, but an accordian style board with 9 views of inside and outside the body. Skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory, nervous system: these are four separate pages. One is a "making healthy choices" game board, 2 pages are an up-close anatomy view, one page on skin, and one on the body's ability's to do many things. Kids can play a game (two levels), repeat sections aloud, and the others are interactive generic pages. I like it that kids are asked questions.

Age wise, this was perfect for my five year old. The pictures aren't too detailed, and not over simplified either. I'd like to think he could learn all the different names for bones, etc...but if not, at least he sees how complex his body is, and I've already used it to show him where his tummy-ache is coming from.

It also comes with a cute fold out growth chart with health reminders.

In all, the information is useful and age-appropriate.

But here's the thing: it's the TAG system itself that annoys me. When you have a TAG, you buy the device and you buy the books or games, but you aren't done. Instead of providing audio (the basis to which the entire program works) on CD, you have to install Leapfrog's setup on to your computer (which took quite awhile, even though I already had the LeapFrog Explorer). You have to connect via USB, follow the vague computer instructions and finally, slowly, download the audio to your computer and THEN download it to the TAG reader. It seems an extra hassle. I wouldn't mind it if it were on a CD, but it seems unreasonable to have to go online to get to the guts of it all, especially if you have a kid breathing down your neck eager to play.

Additionally, while you can download the audio to your TAG, it can't hold every book/game you've purchased, so at times you have to get rid of audio files on TAG (they remain on your computer, though) to make room for new ones. That means keeping track of which games/books are "in play" and which aren't.

I like the TAG, I've also purchased the Phonics set, the Solar System, etc (not on VINE, on my own) and my son does like them. Each time I do the downloads for audio though I get irritated. Perhaps because this isn't a "cartridge" game system...which ultimately is much easier to manage.

However, my two cents is this: buy the Leapfrog Explorer or LeapPad. Yes, it costs more, but has more options. He doesn't get bored with that, ever. Whereas with TAG he gets distracted easily. And believe it or not, his eye doctor actually recommended the Leapfrog Explorer for his eyes because one was wandering a bit (it helps the two focus together).

TAG will not last (in interest) as long as the more expensive Explorer, which makes games up to eight and nine years of age. TAG ages out about 5 or 6. You'll get far more use, and more sturdiness, from the Explorer.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm a bit surprised to see all the positive reviews of this product. It's definitely geared more toward older kids (ones who can read), and while it's definitely educational, I can't say it's very fun.

The set comes with a double-sided, fold-out, six-panel "book" that contains information on the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory/circulatory, and nervous systems along with the skin and a large three-pane diagram of the body and a selection of games. Also included is an interactive growth chart (with songs) and stickers. Tag reader is not included (though Vine reviewers were sent one).

I was expecting it to be like the rest of the Tag books, where it contains a story and a variety of fun games. This is not like that. There's no overarcing explanation to follow along. It's just touching parts and getting the names, along with a bit of explanation. Props for its interactivity, a great way to learn without simply memorizing the names and functions. Some of the systems are presented well. Others (such as the muscular system) are so basic it was barely worth including them. The games are a bit too challenging or vague, such as body detective, which says near/far as random organs are pressed. I found the songs jarring and annoying; my son didn't care for them either. There's a lot here, but none of it seems very engaging or coherently presented in my opinion.

This is sure to be a hit if your child is already showing an interest in how the body works. Otherwise, another Tag product might be better for them. My son is six and he didn't get much of anything out of this. Maybe in a few years it will make more sense.

Honest reviews on LeapFrog LeapReader Interactive Human Body Discovery Set (works

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My daughter is five years old and is starting Kindergarten very soon. While she has general familiarity with anatomy I thought it couldn't hurt to give her a little extra. We've got several TAG books which she thoroughly loves reading as well as a TAG map of the United States which she's less interested in so I wasn't entirely sure how she'd take to this one.

The Interactive Human Body Discovery Pack is sort of between being a book and a board game. It's sized like a book, has a total of 12 'pages', and can be read like a book. But like a board game it's made from the same sort of heavy card stock that board game boards are made of and it can completely unfold accordion-style. This double-purpose setup means that my child can explore the book just as easily in the back seat of the car as she can spread out on her play table at home. One small improvement I would have liked to see is better waterproofing of the pages. My daughter accidentally spilled some water on it and, though it was quickly wiped up, the paper soaked up the water pretty quickly. No lasting damage came about but still, better waterproofing would have been appreciated.

Before I continue, a note to prudish parents: There is no penis, vagina, or boobs in this product. The closest your child gets to "naughty bits" is the rectum and its inevitable byproducts.

Each side of the board has six panels (pages). One side of the board has the intro page giving a brief exposition on how people are all different on the inside and the outside, as well as icons letting you select Level 1 or Level 2, the latter giving a slightly more challenging set of games for your child. There's also a page extolling the virtues of "your amazing body" and the things it can do, and a page about your skin and the different parts of it. Those three panels are "top to bottom" panels that you read like a book. The remaining three panels form a single image giving a general overview of the inside of your body and are meant to be viewed "centerfold style" where you have to turn the book to see the whole thing.

The flipside of the board covers the skeletal, muscular, digestive, respiratory & circulatory, and nervous systems, plus has a small board game called "Making Healthy Choices". Every panel has a bunch of facts and sound bytes that your child can freely explore, as well as a simple game tailored to each specific system. For example, the muscular system game may ask the child to identify a muscle used when running, while a digestive system game may ask the child to trace a path from the mouth to the stomach.

I've found that the panels provide a good amount of information without getting too detailed. The panel for the skeletal system, for example, points out just 21 bones, a far cry from the 206 bones in an adult human. But the 21 call-outs are logical in their distinction and many of them are properly pluralized (e.g., "metacarpals" as a group). This provides a good amount of accurate information without unnecessarily overwhelming younger readers. Oddly, however, the muscular system panel is unique amongst the panels in that it has no call-outs at all, though tapping the TAG reader on the muscles does give you the information.

The "Making Healthy Choices" panel is sort of like Candy Land as you play it. The goal is to travel the path from morning to night while making healthy choices along the way. The game inevitably allows the child to win; it's virtually impossible to make an "unhealthy choice" as you play the game.

So, what's not to like about this system? Not much. The games can get a little repetitive to adult ears, but my child seems to enjoy the repetition and there's no doubt that she's learned a few things through that repetition. And like all TAG titles you need to download and install the TAG data to the stylus. I don't see this as being a negative but like all TAG titles there's no immediate gratification for the child, so you can decide that for yourself. And I would have liked to have seen a "Level 3" difficulty level as well as having the ability to set the level for individual panels.

Overall I think this is an excellent introduction to the human body for young children and recommend it highly.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I am a mom of four boys, ages 3 to 10, and we are big fans of the Tag learning system. This Human Body Discovery Pack is a fun addition to our library. The book itself isn't really a book, but more like a fold-out board book. It has six panels, firmly connected, and decorated both front and back. It gives a basic overview of the body systems and the hidden clues and catchy little songs make it fun for the kids to explore.

I'd say my 3-year-old and 5-year-olds have enjoyed it the most because the body is still quite a mystery to them. My older boys have learned quite a bit in school already and were less impressed with the information presented.

It's a fun system, but I will warn you that the picture makes it look like there is a lot more included than there really is. There are several sticker sheets that DO work with the tag pen, but my kids made short work of them, creating different monsters out of body parts, and then the stickers were never seen again. So I wouldn't say that was a very durable part of the package. However, I would absolutely recommend this for a road trip when they would have plenty of time to explore each and every thing. It would keep them busy for hours.

Sand Writing Tray with Tracing Cards & Sand

Received this in the mail a few days ago. I was having trouble getting my two year old to draw lines on a piece of paper. We're not talking "hey sweetie, here's some chalk, have at it!" we're talking can you draw a line from point "a" to point "b"? Maybe she is a bit young, not sure, but she just couldn't do the pencil/pen/crayon thing. I found this and thought we'd give it a try. BRILLIANT! Hands on and exactly what she needed to "see" what I was talking about. We use her finger to trace on the card and then we do it in the sand together and then I let her try it on her own. No saying, "that's not right" but letting her try and envision the card and the lines on it. She seems to do much better with just a few days try. Definitely glad I invested in this the materials are all very sound and durable, I especially like the quality of the wood and the cards (laminated). Sand can be colored, which gives it more appeal for the younger ages. All in all, a great addition to our at-home montessori class room.

My daughter, who is 5, got a TAG reader over a year ago and seemed to lose interest in it quickly. However, now that she is in kindergarten and learning to read, I thought this might be a good time to reintroduce her to the TAG reader. And she LOVES it. She has had lots of fun with the book and tracing the letters, and loves matching the stickers included with the pages in the tracing books. Great item for a child learning their alphabet and how to read and write!

This set comes with one tag book (and 3 sticker sheets) to be used with the tag reader and 4 workbooks that use regular pen/pencil which is shown on the cover of the images of each of the books but may not be completely clear.

This set is great for older pre-school to kindergarten age children and the stickers which all produce sounds when you touch them with the tag reader. They can also be placed multiple times although only about 2 times before they start to rip and lose their adhesive.

Overall I think this is a set that will both entertain and teach pre-school to kindergarten age children and you get a good value in the set for the price.

the additional books were actual write-in books ( using a graphite/lead pencil) only one book is used with the Tag pen. But the songs and games keep my 4yr old happy for hours tracing his shapes and following directions. That's what i love it trains him early to follow audio instruction.

Honest reviews on LeapFrog Tag Learn To Write And Draw

The one thing that didn't occur to me when I bought this is that the pen used by Tag is too large for a small child to hold as they should hold a pencil; therefore, it is awkward to use to teach proper letter formation.

We are big fans of Leapfrog products. My 7 year old is an avid reader and the tag pen really helped her get some supplemental assistance. We got our 3 year old one last year and she has loved everything about it. We received this title for her 4th birthday recently. The book itself is stellar as usual. I was more disappointed with the 3 workbooks included. I know she HAS TO WRITE with a pencil eventually but that's not what I thought I was paying for. I have paper and pencils already. The three workbooks are for pencil only and that was disappointing for the little one who wanted all of them to "talk". I think the stickers help but I would rather have had more practice sheets that worked with the tag pen for the price I paid. I have all the intentions of providing her with writing material myself. So for that I gave it only 4 stars. I should have read closer.

My 7 year old daughter REALLY wanted a diary with a lock. We first tried another model with one of the cheaper built-in latch locks, and that was a disaster -it wouldn't work, she couldn't do it herself, etc. We returned it and went for this model, which has a cute little stand-alone lock that feeds through rings mounted on the book. The lock is not of the highest quality, and it would help if the shaft were longer -but she can open and close it herself, and it seems like it will survive for awhile, so we're happy. If the lock breaks, we can easily substitute a small luggage lock.

This is a great paperweight. It's made from very good quality, comes in a great gift box, And can be used as an Educational tool as well. What I thought was the coolest part about this paperweight was that the different colors in the globe are made from the actual stones that are found in those parts of the world. This would make an excellent gift for Any traveler or culture lover.

Best LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior) Deals

LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

This storage case is a must have to keep the Tag Junior and books together. The description says that it holds 4 books, but we have 4 in the case with plenty of room left over. I would say that it would easily hold 5 or 6 which is really fine becase you can only have 5 books downloaded on the Tag Junior at one time anyway.

The way the dual zipper is set up makes it easy for toddlers and pre-schoolers to open and close it themselves. The Tag Junior unit itself fits very snugly in the case it requires some effort it just doesn't slide in (and therefore won't just slide out when the case is unzipped).

I bought this for my two year old to keep all his Tag Junior items in. It is perfect. He is able to open and close it by himself and the books and reader fit perfectly. The other reviewer mentioned that the reader was hard to put in the case, but if you flip it upside down, the fit is perfect. The case would easily hold 5+ books which is all we'd have out at once anyway. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who purchases the Tag Junior.

Best Deals for LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior)

Not just for travel, this Tag Jr. case keeps your Jr and the books that go with it [up to 5] in one location and protects both very well. Easy carry handle, partitioned inside and visually stimulating it is a must. We try to keep my son's tag available at all times and together with it's books, which is hard with all the other toys and books he owns. Having a spot to put them that he can easily identify is so worth it. And the Jr is protected for longer life.

I got this case for my 2 year old's Tag Jr. I love that it looks like a little house---so cute! I do wish it came in purple to match the "girl" leapfrog products. But, overall I'm very pleased with the case. It holds one book and the Tag flashcards, and looks like there is room for at least two more books. You have to put the Tag Reader in upside down, and it will fit perfectly. The actual Tag Jr has been hit and miss for us, but my daughter's favorite part is opening up the case and putting everything in and back out again.

I have two sons one that is three, and the other is a year old. They both like to play with these toys. I keep them in the closet because of the magnets inside, and take them out when they want to play, or when I need a break. They come in handy, and they are learning words compared to just using abc blocks. I would suggest going to a Target store if you want to buy one they still have them there. I know people need to cover their costs to sell on here but some of the prices are way to much.

This collection of wordworld is perfect and best of all are pull apart animals soft and cuddly made of leters.

It is just amazing how quickly my baby learned letter recognition and puting words together in order thanks to these animals.

The whole family was amazed how those little hands could put togehter the dog, cat, zebra, cow, etc.. all animals in the set

together in a snap.

We started with the dog as it is her faforite animal, obviously like most kids :) and then we gradually were adding on

animals untill we ended up with the whole set before we knew it. It is so rewording to see your tinny treasure to

be able to do words!!! that it is jsut breath taking.

We did not need any foring techinques, flash cards or anything, she was just grasping the concept from my taking apart

the animal, sounding the letters and puting them together back for her few times and then she got it like

in the same day and from that day on she knew.

I think this should be every paretnt's every baby first educational toy. It is so baby friendly, perfect for the sens of touch,

soft and cozy what actually is said to develop brain faster.

It is sucha pleasing design and there are places to chew on if you need ha ha ha..

We take the animals everyhwere we go and she does not only have fun she is reinforcing her reading skills and preparing

for future writing without knowing it!

We were lucky to get the animals that were issued in those white boxed packaging with DVD inside. Not the other version in

the orangy cheaper packaging and without DVD. Difference is really apparent. I got the animals as a gift to my niece

but I could not find anywhere the first edition in white packaging with bluish background and DVd included in the box

so Igot the other set on e by and apparently they are not the same. Similar and all but the quality is not the same.

The original edition animals are more plumpy, solid, and have better and more baby friendly feel and touch to them

whereas the other not the white boxedition has cheaper feel to it.

Overall we are very very pleased with the set. I have heard that this design got so many rewards and it is so popular among parents

and I totally agree with the notion. It is great for the baby and it teaches something useful for life unlike so many toys

that do nothing. It is good to see your baby having so much fun and stay engaged for good while with them.

It is amazing how long attention span the baby has while playing with the animals.

As she grows I marvel how she can put together the simple words from different animals for fun.. as in she would take

different letters from different animals and still spell the word dog or cat or cow correctly and giggles

that each letters is from different animal.. like for instance she will take L from the lion with the head,

then put i from the fish and then o from the dog and n from the lion again and she is so proud to do that.

It shows me that she is not only putting animal together, she is actually aware of the letters..

and to prove it she can take just the letters without heads and not color coded and at random

pull the letters and put together a word that is independent of characters..

soooooo cooooooooool

I am shopping for the original set now to get it for Christmas for two beloved babies in the family

and they are so hard to find, yet I won't stop till I find them. This is THE gift of learning and

I wont' settle for less :)

We are collecting all of the characters right now for her she loves to pull them apart and then stick them back together. They are great learning tools ... we use them to point out letters, the sounds they make, the sounds they make when they come together and then the word itself! A great association tool. I highly recommend this Leap Frog Little Leaps game, Discovering Creative Expression, which features the Disney princesses Ariel and Cinderella. Preschoolers, and even toddlers and kindergarteners, will enjoy the music and learning games. They are presented as colorful, engaging Disney cartoons, and the overall mood is very gentle, cheerful, and pleasant. The different activities use the Toddler Mode of the activity controller, with its joystick directional navigation and buttons to push.

Activity 1 is "A Sea Friend Sing Along" with Ariel. The music is catchy, and kids are encouraged to both sing along and act out the words, mimicking different sea creatures. According to the booklet, this activity introduces music and singing, movement and dance, sea animal names, sequencing, and decision making. And it's fun, to boot!

Activity 2 is "Colorful Crystals," also with Ariel. In round one, the child moves the directional controller up, down, left or right to choose among the different colored clams to find hidden crystals. In round two, the child chooses which color crystals Ariel will use to make a necklace, and pushes the button to "help" string them. This game teaches colors, social behavior, sequencing and decision making.

Activity 3 with Cinderella is "The Mouse Cake." In round one, your little one selects the icing colors for the cake, and sees the color that results when they are mixed. In round two, Cinderella begins to draw a decoration on the cake. Kids can guess what it will be, then push the button to see more. Something is missing from the drawing, and kids are asked to guess that, too. This activity introduces colors, color mixing, social behavior, sequencing and decision making.

Activity 4 is "Dancing to the Music," again featuring Cinderella. Round one has four mice demonstrating dance steps to help Cinderella practice them: a sway, curtsy, twirl, and waltz. Children use the joystick to choose a mouse and dance move, and see videos of children dancing after each one. In Round 2, the child helps Cinderella practice the dance moves, using the directional controller again. This activity is great for getting kids learning and exercising along with their cartoon pals and real kids. The booklet says it teaches music and singing, movement and dance, social behavior, and decision making.

This game was a favorite for our daughter at ages three and four, and she wasn't even that interested in the Disney princesses. I think the catchy songs, the ability to control the action occurring, and the cartoon characters made it appealing to her. If the games are played straight through perhaps the time is shorter than other Little Leaps games, as other commenters said; I never noticed this, but realized it may have been because my daughter kept choosing to replay the activities multiple times, she liked them so much!

We ordered this for my daughter and I was surprised when she played it how short it was. Both the princess have 2 games each, yes there are only 2 princesses in this game. The music for the games was catchy (for the toddler and annoying for the parents) and kept her attention.

I don't know if it's a bug but I wanted to select and repeat an activity so I selected my activity and chose repeat play and it only played the first 1/2 of the activity and I KNOW the activity was longer than that. Minor flaw but it's annoying.

All in all a great attention holding game for your little princess.

Honest reviews on Discovering Creative Expressio

Perfect for the little princess. Teaches patterns, color blending, simple dance moves. Like all discs that work with this system, is a bit slow.

Very entertaining. The only complaint I have is that run time is not long enough.

I am not reviewing the movie.

I am just saying that when my collection of VHS tapes became old and the analog magnetic media was faltering due to playback, I wanted to get digital of my old movies. But new Disney movies are about $20 even when used.

When Disney movies first came out you could spend up to $100 to get a video that went back in the Disney vault.

Well, same thing is happening with DVD, while we wait for the videos to come out on Blu-ray.

So my solution is to seek out the older videos on the stable LaserDisc format, they are digital and usually disney videos are not subject as much to Laser Rot that damaged discs (there are resources to check if the LD was subject to laser rot)

So I get the classics in digital about 425 lines of resolution as opposed to VHS which is about 220 lines. Not as good as DVD or Blu-ray but great for watching my favorite Disney Video's again, without spending tons of money.
