I bought these for my 22-month old daughter. I should have ordered these for her a long time ago, I think any baby 6 months or over would love these. They are VERY durable, heavy plastic. They are different colors with different designs on top and different shapes on the bottom. When my 22-month old got these, I thought she might be too old for them, but she loves them! She also likes to put other toys inside, etc. Toys R Us had no stackers and I had looked places, I think stackers in general are hard to find, I'm so glad I found these.

I bought these before my daughter was born and gave it to her when she was five month old. She start playing with them immediately and she is still playing with them (she is 10 month now). I stack them for her to take them apart, put small things in each one for her to take out. They also make perfect bath time toys your baby will be busy picking them up and sunk them in water. It is the cheapest thing I bought so far and she keeps having fun with them.

We bought these stacking cups to take to China for our adoption, because they are very compact when nested. Our new son , loves stacking them, and concentrates very hard on which ones fit together. The colors are great, and our kids can play with them in the tub. The only drawback is that there isn't any versatility. The cups stack in a particular order, and that is it. They are probably more educational than fun, since there are different geometric shapes on the bottoms of each cup, and different colored patterns on the rims.

I can't believe that my one year old can spend so much time playing with cups! He will stack them and nest them. You can hide things under them or use them in the tub. It is a pre math skill. They are easy to transport and very good quality. I great gift for a young toddler. My only complaint was that they were so hard to find. The only place I could find a good quality product was online.

Stacking cups are my boys favorite toys. We bought 2 types, this one and some with holes in them to let water drain out.

My complaint with both types is if you lose a cup, they become rather useless, because you need all of them in order to stack them. Must go in order. But that is true of both of our sets.

They are a quality plastic, and my boys LOVE them. They learn so much from them, and it is appropriate for a wide age range. They started really early (6 months I think?) putting one cup inside another cup, like the smallest one inside the biggest one, but now at 15 months they can stack 3 cups, then take it apart and nest them. They also put small toys in them, and again, this is something they start doing very early, but they are still great learning toys for toddlers as well.

The ones with holes are perhaps better bath toys though, because they can see the water drain out, but these are heavier, and more interesting with the different shaped bottoms and designs. Also there is something to be said for being able to pour the water out if used as a bath toy.

Get like 4 sets of stacking cups. There are some at Ikea for $2.50, so get 2 of those, then get some with holes in them, and get these. There is no better infant / early toddler toy then stacking/nesting cups.

This is the best, most used toy I have purchased for my grandchildren. All ages play with these tiles, from 2 15. After buying the smaller set, I was asked to "get more next Christmas". They make garages, houses, and geo-shapes that stay together (unlike blocks!). All the tiles fit together; kids learn how shapes are similar, and how they are "fractions" of another shape. Very popular building toy!

My 5-year-old kept a science journal this past summer. She did an experiment once or twice a week as part of her lessons. The items in this kid are simple (don't expect anything intricate), but they're perfect for the younger crowd. They take less than 10 minutes to do. To get more value from them, my kid drew pictures in her journal (I wrote the question at the top, she labeled the parts of her drawing), and I wrote the answer at the bottom of the page when the experiment was over. I know that language is best learned young.... and that all new moms want to give their kids an edge in life (as well as keep them busy) so I've bought this as a gift for a number of friends and the gift has been met with great response. More important however is the kids seem to love it. One of my friends has reported that her daughter (18 months) is entranced by it and has started to repeat the words and phrases. I wish these had been around when my kids were young. Anyway, highly recommended as a gift or for your own little ones.

I bought these for a preschool percussion kit I put together (and on a recommendation as a must-have item of percussion). I purchased the Treble Extension Set because it was cheaper than any other set I found, and I like that they're shorter than others as they're intended for 3-5 year old kids. The sizes range from about 10-16 inches. There really isn't much to them, and though they are different notes, there isn't really a lot of variation in the sound. I've read about how to play the boomwhackers, and my husband and I were still unable to get a lot of sound out of them. They're pretty flimsy plastic, the instructions actually talk about bending them back into shape after shipping, so I hope they hold up with extended use. Advice I saw online was to not hit the floor, as it will bend and shred the ends, and not to whack hard items with the center of the whacker, as it will bend the plastic in half.

Bottom line? You might want to know what you're doing with these, but I think that the kids are going to have a BALL making music by hitting things.

Excellent product. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that the sheet music has a color shown that is not reflected in the product. Makes it hard to expect a child to follow along when the colors don't match.

My 3 year old son needs reinforcement with his speech. He attends a daycare learning academy where he takes speech therapy twice a week, but I wanted something extra for him to have at home. He loves this thing because it's fun, educational but not difficult, does not seem like schoolwork, and it's right on his learning level. I had to buy an extra joystick because his friends and cousins think this is more of a video game system than edutainment. They are learning and not knowing it. His speech therapist saw an improvement in phonics and excitement for learning within the first week. This is the greatest toy/gift/tutor that you can get for your kid 3 yrs and up. We are a gaming family but it was hard to find things at the preschool level for the kids. I love the vsmile and my 4 year old loves playing the games. This system was a good deal because it came with a controller, a game and the ac adapter (which would normally all be sold separately). Honestly, my daughter hardly ever plays the game that came with it, preferring the games with characters that she recognizes from the television. Cheap Leapfrog Counting Candles Birthday Cake

My daughter received this as a gift for her 2nd birthday. I think that is the perfect age for this toy, although my older kids (3, 5, and 8) have all had some fun with it, too! My two-year old does need some help blowing out the candles sometimes, but she absolutely loves this little cake! She is at the age where she just loves singing the birthday song, so this present was a great choice for her!

What I like:

1. You press the button and each time you do, a candle lights up. So, you can light just one candle, or two, or all five...it's up to you. When you have the number of candles lit that you want, just wait a second and if you don't press the button again, the bday song will start. My two year old likes to press it until all 5 candles are lit (even though she is 2!), and she counts out loud along with the little voice coming from the cake.

2. It's cool that while the song is playing, you can press the buttons to hear cool sounds and fun melodic variations thrown in. I love that if my daughter starts pushing buttons during the song, it just adds to the fun of the song, but finishes! I get so tired of toys where a push of a button stops something right in the middle to go on to something else! Little kids love pushing buttons over and over, so I think whoever designed this, did it RIGHT! Thank you!

3. The best thing about the cake is that you can actually "blow out" the candles (via a little grouping of holes in the middle of the cake). And the cake says "Yay!!" after you do, which my kids love and join in on.

4. It has a volume adjustment. (Parents always LOVE to be able to control the volume a bit!)

5. It is little! I love that it is little, which means my 2-year old can pack it around easily and it doesn't take up much room on a shelf.

What I'd like better:

1. The birthday song is instrumental and it is just plain too fast for its target audience (approx. 1-4 yr. olds) to keep up with as they try to sing along. When we sing for birthdays at our house, we always slow down/pause slightly after saying the name, before singing the final "Happy birthday to you." (Most people I know do the same thing.) In the instrumental melody the cake plays, not only is it too fast all the way through, but it doesn't slow down or pause at all at that point in the song. I wish it did and I think it'd be better if the whole song was slowed down a bit. The little ones would be able to sing along with it better.

2. I actually like that there is an instrumental version of the bday song, but I think the toy would be better if there was also an option to have the bday song with KIDS singing. Of course, they wouldn't be able to sing a name, but they could hum in that spot, then finish the song. I say KIDS, because my children (and I think most are the same) much prefer their music and musical toys that have kids voices singing over the ones that have grown-ups voices doing the singing. Plus, I think with kids singing, the song would've been recorded at a more appropriate speed for little ones to sing along with.

3. To me it's a little odd that the "cake" is blue. (I know, it could be blue frosting!) This is not really important and I know kids couldn't care less, but just to me personally, I'd have liked it better if the cake was yellow.

Overall though, I think this is a very cool, fun little toy.

I found this toy and wanted to get it for my son's 1st birthday. It arrived just in time and we had a lot of fun preparing him for all the singing at his party (which, in our family, kids tend to cry at big groups singing to them). He loved pushing the balloon and star buttons to "count" to 5, play more songs, hear quirky sounds, and he even started to understand that he can "blow out" the candles (a very cool/fun feature)! The concept is very cute, it teaches children to count and understand what they can expect at their birthday party. The candles actually "glow" with the lights flickering. Also, the flames are coated with a rubberized material ...my son wanted to chew them a bit, but it's very durable. Speaking of durability, he pushed this toy off of our dining table multiple times and the thing keeps on going! I highly recommend this toy for multiple reasons and want to add that, just like my subject line, it's NOT just for birthdays! I think he will enjoy playing with it for years to come. I think I might put it away in a few months so we can bring it back out prior to his 2nd birthday next June so he can build up the fun and excitement all over again!

I don't leave reviews often but this one is worth a little of my time! I was searching other things on Amazon when this adorable Leapfrog Birthday Cake toy popped up! I'd never seen it before and once I read the description and reviews, I immediately bought it. And I'm so glad I did! As my title states, someone was using their brain when they designed this toy for a baby/toddler! Not only is it cute and unique but the educational value and functionality is great! My daughter just turned 13 months and I think, this is the best money spent on a toy so far! And for $15it's a STEAL!

Children my daughter's age and younger like to press buttons. We have other toys, many Leapfrog, with the star button and others. Often, when they press the buttons, it interupts and re-starts whatever it's doing. This one actually encourages pressing the buttons during the song! It's fun to watch my daughter light up the candles, and as she does so, the nice voice (some are annoying) speaks loudly, clearly, and at a pace to learn counting! It does more than we've played with yet (which is even cooler) but just the basic functionlighting the candles, singing the song, and blowing out the candles it super funI enjoy playing with this toy along with my daughter!

Her eyes light up when the candles do. She listens to the counting. She dances to the song. She likes to press the buttons...and she actually started trying to blow out the candles for the first time yesterday! She'd been watching me blow out the candles and my husband and I were just thrilled to watch her actually try (she doesn't understand yet that she needs to get closer to blow them out).

I would buy this again if it breaks or if I have another baby down the road. Great birthday gift too! ENJOY!!!

Small children are fasinated by candles & the excitement of blowing them out & of course love to sing the birthday song.

I wish the song wasn't music only it would have been nice to have vocals on it to encourage singing more.

I purchased this set to fill a advent calendar for a very smart 6 year old who LOVES fossils. She will absolutely love these. I was impressed by the variety that it came with. Most are plants, but there are a few prime dinosaur bone pieces that will really impress. The Willy Mammoth bones was pretty awesome as well. It is medium sized and will be the pièce de résistance on the 24th day.

This is the perfect set for kids or education purposes. I only received 17 bags but I won't complain as there were a few more than 40 pieces and the ones that were included were worth it. Each little bag is labeled and it comes with a small brochure that describes the fossils included.

Haba Building Blocks Cordoba Review

We bought these for our 9 month old daughter. They are a little beyond her for building, of course, but she likes the colors, shapes, textures, and unique features like the bell and prism. The whole family thought they were the neatest blockes they had ever seen. I hope to add another set when she gets old enough to build with them. They are perfect for her two favorite games, "chew on things" and "take things out of the basket." They seem to be excellent quality and hold up well to her chewing. Even the transparent plastic that contains the pearls seems to be sturdy. While I don't believe that any of the pieces as a whole are small enough to choke on, some of them would not pass the "toilet paper roll" test so I would recommend using these with supervision for a smaller child.

Update it has now been 2 years since my prior review and we still play with these blocks. My daughter likes to build with them now, and I like that they have some odd angles that kind of challenge her. She does not play with them daily but they do see regular use and still look great no paint chipping or pieces coming off.

My older niece loves the blocks, but they were intended for her little sister, who had a lot of fun pushing around the box they came in. Oh, well. *I* liked them and thought they were really cool. So did a couple other adults. They're actually beautiful; the colors, shapes and designs are original, and the blocks are very well made. I'm sure my nieces don't give a hoot about the quality, but the blocks definitely create possibilities for their little imaginations.

These blocks are really colorful and fun. The different shapes make creating towers super interesting. My son got them for his first birthday and all he did was chew on them, but now he's almost two and loves stacking them. We keep these in a bowl on our kitchen table and adults even like to play with them when we're just hanging out. Love these and plan to order more Haba blocks!!
