Wee Gallery Art Cards for Baby Reviews

Wee Gallery Art Cards for Baby, Black and White Collection
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

I bought these on the recommendation of a friend whose son is now 9 months for my then 2 mo old (now 3 1/2 months). I was a little put off by the price because for some reason, I thought they were playing card sized, when they arrived they are about the size of a paperback or DVD package, and very sturdy and thick. My son loves to look at these and will follow them with his eyes and by turning his head. I had borrowed some black and white books by Tana Hoban for infants from the library which have solid shapes in black and white and my son couldn't care less about those images.

As far as the garden collection, I am sure that it doesn't matter to the baby which set you choose, but you will get use out of these and they seem to be substantial enough to be passed on to another child.

Got these cards before my son now 3 months was born. Well worth the price if you have an extra 12 bucks to spend! He won't be interested in these simple b/w images for much longer, so their usefulness is very short lived. But these were the first images he was interested in and the first thing that he could track 180 degrees (moved his head all the way from right to left side, following the cards). I sing "old mcDonald" with him and the 6 cards. Not many cards, but just right for teh attention span of an infant. His eyes get big and he focuses on each card with intensity. I think it's not only the simple B/w images that keep his attention, but the cards are just big enough to block his view of other competing objects that he likes to look at (such as Mommy, or the ceiling light).

I also used these cards for his first wall pictures in his room. I scanned a few cards, then blew them up and printed them and put them in some small white PB frames I had. He loves to look at them from his crib and changing table. Again short lived. I'll probably replace the prints with something more colorful in a few months time. But it's cheap to print and it was worth the effort to have my 1 month old stare contentedly at art while I changed him.

These cards are perfect for keeping the attention of your newborn. I have a little 8 week old and I've been using these cards in his crib since he was 5 weeks old. He loves to just stare at them and observe them when he's having his tummy time or if he's just laying on his back. The contrast of the colors are perfect. I love that they are reverse colors on the other side. If he gets tired of looking at one side you just flip the card over and there's the same image but in different shades. It's great! And the cards are very durable they are not easily bendable and if they happen to get dirty they wipe off quite easily. I've gotten two other sets for him.

Honest reviews on Wee Gallery Art Cards for Baby

These cards are wonderful for young babies. My baby started looking at these at around 6 weeks oldlong before he was interested in any toys. We hung them up over his changing table and he was totally mesmerized. They are perfect for bringing along when you leave the house to keep small babies entertained. They hardly take up any room in a diaper bag or purse. At 2 or 3 months, my baby would happily stare at them through a whole meal at a restaurant. Now, at 4 months, he likes to pick them up and chew on them. They are holding up amazingly well. They're made out of a thick sturdy cardboard, like board book pages. I highly recommend these.

I had heard that newborns can only see black and white images. We put the pictures alongside our changing table--eye level for our baby. I am not kidding that he looked at them the 2nd day he was home from the hospital. It seemed to keep him "busy" (well, as busy as a newborn can be) while i took care of the changing business. Also very cute! Even have a second pair to tote around.

Best Dig and Play Egyptian Tomb Deals

Dig and Play Egyptian Tomb
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Wow! I purchased for my niece for her 9th birthday. She is enamored with ancient Egypt, as am I. My fascination is with the burial rituals, pyramids, gods, and their belief in the afterlife. Her fascination started when our cousin had to get brain surgery, and a reference was made to egyptian brain removal technique...

The stone was a little tough to get started, but she had a harder time keeping her younger brother away. It took two hours to complete with a little help from my 15 year old daughter. They were very meticulous and scientific in their technique. There are digging directions to behave like an archaeologist. Yes, it was dusty, you ARE chipping away at a plaster "rock"!! It was FUN! She unearthed every "treasure" piece with a sense of pride and accomplishment. When she was finished, she assembled the treasure to learn what each piece was and what it meant to the ancient Pharoah in his afterlife. This is interactive, and not just a toy they look at and throw in their closet. It is also a game when they are finished. 5 Stars Wish I could of had one when I was a kid...

My son had lots of fun unearthing all the treasures. However, the brick was very hard and it took a hammer to really get started, the little mallet which was provided did not do the job initially. Also, I would recommend doing the excavation outside as it created a lot of very fine, powdery dust.

Best Deals for Dig and Play Egyptian Tomb

I ordered this to go along with a homeschool unit on Ancient Egypt. It took my 6 year old about 2 hours to finish. I only helped a little bit when he got tired and asked for help. The block was not as hard to break through as I expected. The instructions say you can soak the block to make it easier to break apart, I think that would be a bad idea to do though as it would probably come apart in about 20 minutes and would take away all the fun of excavating. The mummy came out first and then there was a few other smaller items to get out also. The mummy had 4 game pieces and a small red dice in it for the board game that comes with this. The board game is simple and fairly straight forward, takes about 5-10 minutes to play, is made from cardstock paper although it is nice quality paper and glossed over for durability.

Honest reviews on Dig and Play Egyptian Tomb

I'm a homeschooling parent, and I ordered this product as an add on activity for a unit study about Ancient Egyptian Life. My son LOVED it! We did wet the block,as we had used a similar kit for another study, and the process proved too difficult for his hands. Wetting it definitely softened it quite a bit, and he finished the project within an hour. I followed the advice of another reviewer and we went outside. I'm glad we did. It made a big mess, much as I expected it would (thank you for the warning!). The kit itself included a board game, 5 plastic pieces embedded in the in the brick, and the tools needed. Since we wet the block, we did not need any other tools. He was able to remove the pieces from the brick using the scraping end of the tool, and only occasionally was the mallet necessary. Overall, it's fun and educational at a decent price.

Our daughter (6) picked out this game and really enjoyed the 'dig'. We're studying about Egypt as part of our homeschool curriculum and having a hands-on activity to drive home the studies and stories was so helpful. Our 4 yo son watched with excitement the whole 2 hours of unearthing the toys. And though I would have preferred metal vs plastic treasures, the kids didn't mind a bit. Toysmith toys are typically on the cheap side, so I didn't expect much. As others have stated, it's about the dig, not the game.

I'm going to bury the toys again in plaster for a second dig. I'll report back on the success.

All in all, given that we're homeschooling and studying Egypt, this game was just fantastic. Kids do learn through play and with this game, they gained a lot of understanding in that 2 hours of fun.

I bought this book for my 4.5 year old son and he LOVES it! He loved the movie Cars 2, and he loves his Tag Reader, so I couldn't really go wrong. If you have a Cars 2 lover in your life, they'll appreciate this book!

This is a great book; fantastic voice-acting with lots of games and educational content. In less than two weeks, my son has logged over 4 hours in the book, according to the Leapfrog Learning Path summary. However, I want to take advantage of the supposed rewards and games that unlock with reading and doing activities. But this book doesn't even appear on the carousel for Rewards and Games in the Leapfrog Connect application. I tried updating the app, plugging in the reader off, plugging it in on, and contacted customer service. Their response was "Please be sure it is plugged-in." Epic fail Leapfrog CS! Great book but Leapfrog's support isn't worth two-cents.

My 10 month old loves this cube. He does not stack yet but loves to dismantle it when I do. He also plays with them a lot when they are nested. He takes it out one by one and plays with them. It definitely occupies him for couple of min which i will have to say is a lot these days. He does constantly put it in his mouth so taking one star out because of lack of information on what kind of ink etc.

Georg Hallensleben was not given the credit for the beautiful pictures on these stacking cubes. I'd recognize his work anywhere though. So cute.

Durable, fun and educational.

Geomag Kids Panels - 114 pieces
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

As you can tell from one of my other reviews, I think that Geomags are some of the best toys in the world.

They are fun, encourage creativity, and build small motor skills. In addition, you have to pay attention to how magnetic forces work, or your whole structure collapses in a pile. Of course, then you get to start over a little smarter, so it all works out.

Nope, this is not for kids who stick random things in their mouths. However, any kid of any age (starting at about 5 and up to well over 63...) can enjoy these, whether they are undertaking major projects or just goofing around.

This particular kit is useful because it has a relatively large number of plastic squares, which add stability to structures. All the parts can be combined with other Geomag collections to make greater and grander assemblages.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas. I though the toy would be really fun for building. The magnetic pieces are fun and she enjoys the toy, but I thought the panels were magnetic as well so we would be able to have a lot more versatility in building than with just the rods and balls. However, there aren't very many rods and balls to build with and the majority of the kit is just different shapes of the plastic insertable pieces. They don't stay in place very well and you can't build much with the 114 piece set. I would definitely go with only rods next time and not buy the panels, as you could build a lot more for the same amount of money, and the panels are useless unless you have the structure built to pop them into.

Best Deals for Geomag Kids Panels - 114 pieces

This is fantastic. I was a little disappointed that another reviewer thought the balls were magnetic and dangerous for that reason. The balls do stick to the magnets that are sturdily built into the rods, but are not magnetic themselves. My 7-year old daughter loves this. You will need multiple sets or as many

parts as you can get to build larger structures. The whole family enjoys this--young and not-so-young.

Honest reviews on Geomag Kids Panels - 114 pieces

If only if I can get more balls and sticks, because kids can build things continuously so we can run out of materials soon. Better wait until they are older because of the magnets.

This is a great set for the young experimentor. I bought it for my 6 year old who has been asking for a chemistry set. It uses items that you should already have around the house, like salt and baking soda. They are easy experiments. I would recommend this for maybe 5-9. The younger ones will need parental help, but it is fun.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

My son really loves science and wanted a kit so he could conduct experiments. I looked for something he could do on his own/ or without much adult involvement. He could do everything on his own (7 yrs old). However, there aren't that many "tricks"/ experiments to do and one didn't work. I guess, it's not bad and value for money is fine. I"m just not sure I would re-buy it/ recommend it.

I bought this for my Grandson. He wanted to start doing Science Experiments. This was GREAT for a Start. He had Fun

Honest reviews on Adventure Science series: Chemistry Blast

I bought this kit for my 5 year old son as part of our homeschooling curriculum. We have enjoyed other kits in this series, but this one is a disappointment. The experiments themselves are interesting. However, what is lacking in this kit are any educational explanations so the child actually understands the results of the experiments. Also, the whole kit can be completed in one sitting.

Best LeapFrog Learning Connections Train Deals

LeapFrog Learning Connections Train
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
I bought this for my daughter at 11 months. She hasn't played with it much because of my train crazy almost 3 year old son. I like this toy. The songs are pleasant sounding (nice) if repetitive) what kid's toy isn't? As you add trains it names off the number car and asks the child to add other color cars.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This train is a lot of fun. The songs are catchy and easy to sing along with. There are several different songs depending on the train mode so as a parent, it doesn't get too irritating.

The toy itself is built out of strong hard plastic which has survived the dog chewing on it and being thrown around the room. There is a switch that changes modes which includes an OFF mode for parents.

Learning motor skills, my kids easily hook up the different cars to the train engine and love hearing a new part of the song. Depending on the mode, they learn about colors or numbers.

Stacking the cars is another way to play with this toy. I've never seen a "train tower" in real life, but the kids love making these at home. The best part is always knocking it over!

Best Deals for LeapFrog Learning Connections Train

I bought this for my son when he was 10 months old. He loved trains and of course he loves this one too. When we brought it home we discovered that when you hook the cars onto the engine it recognizes which one you have put on and will tell the child (depending on the setting) what color or how many objects are on that train car. Each car attaches by magnet but is strong enough to hold when they pull it. The cars also stack together for a nesting toy. My son likes that it talks and he enjoys the bright colors and music (which can be turned off by the way)

Honest reviews on LeapFrog Learning Connections Train

My 1 year old received this train as a first b-day gift. It wasn't nearly as exciting as the Sesame Street "Teach and Go" train we inherited from my brother's kids. It doesn't move unless you push it yourself, unlike the Teach and Go train that goes on its own. It mainly sings songs and you can stack it, but the parts of the attachable cars don't have any interactive parts. Boring!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog Learning Connections Train

My daughter likes this toy. She likes the songs, and she likes that she can take it apart and put it back together. When you put the train pieces together, it knows what car was added and sings the appropriate song. I think it helped her to learn colors, as well as learning the meaning of "It's backward, sweety." Like most tos, my daughter grew bored of it after a motnh or so and was ready for something new. I guess that's a good thing, but it's expensive!

My son's speech therapist brought this and he loved it!! He's almost 2 and he could lace the beads and it kept his attention for a long time, which is a feat in itself. I really like how one piece stays on the end and the blunt wooden "needle" that you use to thread is the reason such young children can be successful with threading. Great for fine motor skills, pretend play, increasing attention span, and language development, too.

Easy for little hands to use and durable. Nice wooden peg at the front that is used to start the lacing which is so much better than a normal lace that frays and cracks after repeated use. Easy to take in the diaper bag for an emergency distraction.

Best Deals for ALEX® Toys - Early Learning String A Treat -Little Hands 1486S

My daughter is almost 2 years old and quickly figured out how to string the treats on, so I would not be too apprehensive about buying it for a child under 3. The box says for ages 3 and up. The needle-stick is very easy for little hands to grab and the wooden pieces have large, easy-to-string holes. By far, one of the best toy purchases I have made in awhile.

Honest reviews on ALEX® Toys - Early Learning String A Treat -Little Hands 1486S

This is a great toy for toddlers; they all need to work on fine motor and this is a simple way to get them doing just that. I wish I'd bought the car one, since the individual pieces hold up nicely as toys of their very own. I was going for something more gender neutral, and honestly, I got these sweet treats one at such a low price I couldn't pass them up.

We take them to Church to keep our little guy busy. He would never pick this toy out on his own, but if I leave it and just a couple others out to play with he'll string and re-string it for a good 20 minutes.

I love ALEX toys. Always very educational and decent quality.

Review of Multi-Sensory Memory Box

Multi-Sensory Memory Box
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

My kids have enjoyed using this toy not only with the supplied tiles, but with random collection of things they find in the house. Other toys, household items, etc... The product is VERY STRONG/STURDY and appears to be able to take a beating!

They enjoy using random toys a bit more then the supplied tiles, because it seems to be more personal for them. We have used it to show a few items up top and then have the kids memorize the items and draw them on the chalk board. We have used it as a feel and guess game. We have shown items closed the door and removed an item to see if the kids could recall what was missing.

A tricky game we've played is to put a few items that belong (like all mammal figurines and one reptile) and the kids have to feel and figure out what item does not belong.

Another game we have come up with is to put a bunch of nuts and bolts in the lower section and the kids have to find and put together the matching sized nuts to bolts.

Hope you too have this much fun. (older kids won't let you know it, but I have witnessed them having fun with this toy too!!!) ;)

When he opened the Snap Circuits Green Energy set up, he immediately began to do some of the activities in the instruction manual. We all had fun together completing the activities to create wind power, solar power and creating sounds. The instructions are simple enough for a 6 year old with clear diagrams and fun facts he was able to do the activities on his own and spent hours that first day doing many different activities. He loves to make the fan go and charge batteries with the solar panel. He loves this so much that we will be purchasing many more editions of this set!

my 2 1/2 y.o. plays with this on occasion. i like that it sings and gives kind-of random words for each alphabet letter. not your standard words... for $20, i'm glad he has it because he loves thomas, trains, etc...

Honest reviews on Thomas the Train: Thomas ABC Train

My husband and I bought this toy for our 2 yr old son as a big brother gift when he met his baby sister in the hospital. He is a Thomas enthusiast and just recently learner all his letters and numbers. This game is perfect for him. First of all, Thomas talks to you and asks you to find this letter or that. He sings the ABCs and stops sometimes to ask what letter comes next. Or you can hit any letter for him to tell you about that letter. There is a song option too, but my son so far loves the ABC part of it. Parents you have an on /off switch. There isn't a volume button, but tape on the speaker works too. It comes ready to play. I haven't seen these in stores, so I was excited to fond it on amazon.

If you have a toddler that is getting interested on abcs and loves Thomas, this is a MUST TOY!! The only beef I have with it is the lack of volume control, but for $22 its worth the money. You'll have to adjust the volume with masking tape on the speaker if you want to take it to restaurants.

I am considering taking it to the teaching store to get it laminated again. If so this product would last a lot longer. If your children play with lots of small toys (cars, lego polly pockets) these are great for picking up and putting away. Better than a dust pan and far more fun. Sturday and easy for little hands to hold without tipping. I felt it was worth the money.

Best Deals for Toydozer Toy Clean Up Set (Blue)

I first saw this on Anderson Live. I ordered it, and as soon as it arrived at my home, my son started cleaning up his room without a fuss. It was worth it to me!

Honest reviews on Toydozer Toy Clean Up Set (Blue)

Saw this product in my Parent's magazine and thought it would be perfect for my boys. We have tons of Lego, trains and cars laying around our floors at night, which makes clean up a nightly fight. Another reviewer indicated that it was just a dustpan and to save your money. But I've tried the dustpan route without much success. The Toydozer is larger, sturdier and easier for my boys to use. As well it has an extra piece to help get the toys into the scoop. I like that it holds more toys in one pass, making clean up faster and far more efficient. The customer service I received was fantastic. I had a problem with the shipping (being held up at the border and Canada Post being notoriously slow with parcels) and emailed the company. I expected a stock answer, but instead received a personal email from the owner. My friends and family are so impressed with them, that this has become the "gift to buy" for all my son's friends birthdays. My mom even bought one for her house. I also love that it is made in the USA rather than overseas and that when you purchase one, it is supporting a family business rather than lining the pockets of another rich corporation like Walmart. Can't recommend it enough.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Toydozer Toy Clean Up Set (Blue)

I bought one for each of my children, age 5 and age 9. Now when I say, "Go clean up your room, and use your toy dozer!" they literally say, "OK" and go grab their dozers. Having their own special tool helps make clean up easier for them and really makes it more fun. The process of cleaning up is now shorter and less overwhelming for them. My daughter (5) uses it for all her little playmobil pieces, barbie accessories, little plastic animals, polly pockets etc. She seems to love collecting tiny little things and the toy dozer gets them all in a few scoops. My son uses it to clean up his marathon lego/coby building sessions. The scoop attaches to the pan for easy storage so it doesn't get lost and the colors are cool. Very well constructed.
