Best Live Giant Ant Farm Shipped with 50 Live Ants Now (2 Tubes of Ants) Deals
We liked the kit and the ants, they got to work fast and had tunnels in no time. The only problem was that they did not live long. That was disappointing. Will probably get some more soon.My little guy turned 6 and for his birthday we ordered this. He loved getting a package delivered to him. He was excited to set-up his own ant farm and watches the ants with facination. He drags the neighborhood kids (and anyone who is willing) in to look at his ants! When he comes home from school he goes right to the ants to see what new tunnels they have made. One afternoon he excitedly drug me over to it to show me the 'round-about' the ants had made. "Just like the one near our home" he said.

I am very happy with this product. The class liked the colors. It really helped them understand the different parts of the spine. Also very solidly made. I don't usually write reviews but getting this product in two days really helped me out of a potential bind. So I am grateful. I didn't buy the stand, I just propped the spine up when I wasn't holding it by hand. This item is exactly what I needed to show my Critical Alignment Therapy students the various aspects of the spine in certain postures. I just wished the stand had been available.

Schoenhut My First Piano II Reviews
I purchased this piano for my 9 month daughter. She's now 10 months old and loves to crawl over to the piano and play it. She actually hits individual keys...and of course bangs on many at once as well. Surprisingly, the "music" is not irritating as one might expect. The piano has a nice sound, like a xylophone. She's also using it to help her stand...This piano is intended for older toddlers, so be very cautious and attentive if you have an infant. I have the piano against a wall so that she can't push it over. All in all, I love it and so does my daughter. :-D

Review of VTech - Winnie The Pooh - Sort 'n Learn Cart
When this toy arrived I was really surprised with its size. Its a pushable cart so I imagined it large enough for a toddler to stand and push but this cart is only about 6 ins. tall. A baby could push and pull while sitting but my son has to bend over to push it.
The box also says age is 12 months 36 months, not 6 months 2 years like stated here on Amazon.
That all being said. . . my son does like this toy and its very educational. We still like the toy, I was just diappointed with the size.
1. I was surprised by the size of this cart. It's only 6 inches high. Given the fact that this toy is made for children who are toddling/walking (ages 1 3) and that it is in fact called a "push cart" I assumed it would be a cart that my daughter could push around. In actuality, it is a smallish sized puzzle on wheels.
2. The shapes themselves are plain plastic pieces (no rattling, crinkling or textures) and my daughter lost interest in them quickly. Also, they have a sticker label. Given the age group, I think you're asking for some grungy looking shapes since they are more than likely going to be drooled and chewed upon.
3. This is more of a puzzle than a sorter, since the shapes don't go through the cart.
4. It's small but it's bulky and hard to store. If I throw it in the toy chest, the shapes fall out and get lost.
If you are looking for a shape sorter, there are others available that are more rewarding for toddlers.
above was my review when we first got the toy. however, somewhere between his 18th month & 24th month, i think, this became his favorite toy, & he would cry hysterically everytime we left home without it. he had to bring it with him even if he was just on a stroller.

I carefully read the product details and the other reviews and knew buyig it that it was a small toy. I bought it for that very reason in that it would be easier to use. My niece was easily able to push the toy and had countless hours of fun working with the shapes. Her mom said she loves to dance to the music too. It is very durable and will easily be able to be passed on to others when she is done with it. This toy was an all around hit.Honest reviews on VTech - Winnie The Pooh - Sort 'n Learn Cart
like what the others have said, it's for ages 12-24 or 36 mos., not 6-24 or 36 as amazon has advertised. hence, my baby just puts the shapes into his mouth or smashes them on the cart or on his other toys, so i decided (to keep him from ruining the toy before he could appreciate it) to keep the toy in his toy box (where the shapes have scattered elsewhere since they don't stay in place) until he's ready for it.above was my review when we first got the toy. however, somewhere between his 18th month & 24th month, i think, this became his favorite toy, & he would cry hysterically everytime we left home without it. he had to bring it with him even if he was just on a stroller.

This is a very good buy. The toy entertains, plays music, encourages shape sorting and can be pushed with the handle. Our child loves to dance to the music and it encourages them to keep trying to get the shapes in the correct spot. It also has a spinning wheel that children just love to spin as fast as they can. It is very durable and the batteries last a long time. There are different settings too so they don't get bored.Wednesday, October 22, 2014
Little Leaps SW: Thomas and Friends: Exploring Manners and Emotions Review
I just got this for my 2 year old. We have a few of the ones that first came out. He enjoyed them but they didn't hold his intrest as well as this one. My son isn't a big thomas fan but he played staight through this one and wanted to play again. It talks about manners and letters and numbers. It really got him using the joystick which the others didn't.
The only reason I didn't give it a great durability rating is because as anyone who has this system knows they are on dvds and although my son hasn't broken one of these yet he has broken other dvds. If you are deciding between Thomas or one of the non tv character games chose Thomas.

I purchased this and Dora at a special discounted rate around the holidays for my 2 yr old son. We tried Dora first and both of us were bored. So I was skeptical about how Thomas would be. But thank goodness my son enjoys it, as do I. While he doesn't watch the Thomas television show he is familiar with the trains so it grabs his interest. This game covers manners, feelings, letters and numbers and focuses on social skills. As far as the toddler Little Leaps line goes I find this one to be one of the best ones, with Leap Ahead as my second preference, though I don't care for the LeapFrog characters on it (we have yet to try the Backyardigans game).Best Deals for Little Leaps SW: Thomas and Friends: Exploring Manners and Emotions
We bought this for Christmas in 07 when my son was 2 1/2. He didn't play with it much, but now at 3 years old, he loves this game. He loves the whole Thomas family and this game is his favorite. The manners they teach are good, and my son likes to play along with the characters is acting out the manners or emotions. As for the durability of the disk, not so good. We are on our second disk now. Even with very little handling by my sons, the disk is scratched just enough to not work for some of the games. It shuts off when trying top play. I wish they could find a way to make them more durable for a product for kids and used by kids. I do put the disk in for him, but occasionally he will get a hold of it and I guess it gets scratched easily.Honest reviews on Little Leaps SW: Thomas and Friends: Exploring Manners and Emotions

VTech - V.Reader Software - Penguins Of Madagascar Reviews
My boys love this silly tv show, so we hoped they would like this game. The v reader game does a great job of incorporating fun activities with learning. The humor is a relief for kids and adults alike, it is funny and the boys repeat phrases from the game. It's easy for them to play independently, only occasionally do they need assistance. Teaches them letters and spatial organization with shapes.

This is helpful in sharpening my boys reading skills, which is so critical for kindergarten and 1st grade. Not as action packed as the Mobigo but I think the kids learn more with this VTech reader.Best Deals for VTech - V.Reader Software - Penguins Of Madagascar
My daughter has had a Vtech V.Reader since December 2010, and she continues to use it almost every day. We bought her the Penguins of Madagascar cartridge to add to her ever-growing cartridge library, and she loves it! We do not watch the Madagascar cartoons on television, but we have seen the movies, so I liked that my daughter already knew who the characters were. This cartridge continues with Vtech's history of providing educational games/toys for children!Honest reviews on VTech - V.Reader Software - Penguins Of Madagascar

Review of Snap Circuits PRO SC-500
Very much to the manufacturer's credit, the manuals that come with most Snapz products are online as pdf files. See and click "User Manuals."
If you examine the manuals for this "Snapz Pro" product -which is apparently called the SC-500 on the manufacturer site -you will find that the entertainment value should be fairly high, there are a lot of whizzy gimmicks you can build. However the educational value -in terms of learning anything whatever about electronics -is about zero. All you do is match the color and shape of the components to a picture and snap them together. There is no attempt to differentiate the components other than by color and shape -the relative meanings and functions of, for example, a "resistor" versus a "capacitor" versus an "FM radio chip" are simply not explained. It's just so many brightly colored units that are to be connected in a directed pattern.
The projects are not graded from simple to complex, the first ones in the manual are quite elaborate but simpler ones appear later on.
The same company also offers electronic training courses using the same components but with teaching manuals that are graded from simple to complex and do teach the meanings of the components, but this is not one of those.
In response to the person who said the manuals have errors, see the web site (and also as mentioned below.) In particular there is a page that gives corrections to all the manuals: .
Another concern I had is which kit to buy: Junior, Pro, etc.? On the snapcircuits web site they have a price list for replacement parts and upgrade kits. For the difference in price between the kits you can upgrade from one to the next so this takes some of the worry about of the purchase (for me at least).
The book is full of errors. I'm afraid that a child would quickly become frustrated without someone around to troubleshoot the mistakes. I estimate that about 50% of the projects contain some sort of error. They're all minor problems, but the projects won't work until they are corrected.
It's really amazing how many different kinds of problems seem to crop up. Examples are: Missing parts from diagram, wrong parts specified, circuits that no longer "fit" together because mechanical design was changed, some component values seem to have been changed causing some circuits to need adjustment, some illustrations make it impossible to tell which component they are using, etc. The manufacturer just needs to sit down and build each circuit and update the book.
I should stress, once again, that my son and I love this toy. If you have the necessary skills, you should definitely get it. It's just not something you can give a kid and walk away from.
We gave it to our 8 year old for his birthday and he has been playing it ever since. His 10 year old brother is very jealous and wakes up early in the morning so he can play with it before his brother wakes up, however the experiments can get a bit noisy so he ends up waking all of us up with them. They both love showing off what they have made to us and their friends and they are learning about how electricity works.
Due to the nature of the toy a few of the pieces (such as light bulbs) have potential to break if not cared for properly so be sure when kids are finished playing with the set they put them away properly so they don't get stepped on.
The included project booklets do virtually nothing to explain, in even the most rudimentary terms, the basics of electronics, and provide no narrative to explore with an adult. You are simply told to stack color-coded blocks in a particular order the blocks are often not even called by their proper names, and their function in a circuit is not explained in most cases. Schematics are not included, so when you genuinely want to understand how things work with the help of external resources, you actually need to go through some extra hops.
Then, there is another problem: the choice of electronic components in the kit is odd, and clearly aimed at cheap thrills. For example, you get just one NPN transistor, one PNP, and maybe five resistors which really is not much to experiment with; but no fewer than three different "mystery" IC modules that make funny sounds (!); one completely self-contained voice recorder module; and one self-contained FM radio, with integral "scan" and "reset" buttons. The internals of these units are not discussed, and they have *absolutely* no educational value. Connect batteries and watch the magic happen? Something perhaps acceptable in a toy for 2 years old kids, but that's about it: putting batteries in an MP3 player is about as much of a learning experience.
Because the number of general-purpose electronic components in the kit is fairly low merely around 30 you shouldn't expect to be able to build that much. Although the included booklet lists about 500 projects, most of them are just variations of a simple noise-making circuit ("space war sounds", "police car", "fire fan", "whiner", "lower pitch whiner", "hummer", "hissing foghorn", "siren", "steamship", "doorbell", etc). There is also an 8-segment LCD display in the kit, but all you can do with it is display a single pattern there are no ICs to implement a counter or anything else of that sort.
Bottom line is: if you want your kid to just have some harmless fun with electronics for a week or so, this kit may be OK for you. If your kid is genuinely curious about electronics well, a good book, a breadboard, and a handful of assorted components may be a better (and cheaper) option in this age range.

This is a great toy! It is very educational, the direction books are easy to follow (our kids needed a 30 minute lesson before we left them on their own to make their discoveries), the snaps are a super idea (some of the other electronic sets I looked at which required twisting wires together), and it is FUN!We gave it to our 8 year old for his birthday and he has been playing it ever since. Fantastic depth of field view! Great for examining bugs, rocks, coins, stamps and my newly delivered kidney stone! The product was delivered very quickly and was well packaged. I've really been enjoying it.
but trying to see the values of some components like small capacitors is very difficult; and
was not that easy when I could see better than most of my peers.
This tool takes care of that.
It is comfortable to use, easy to set up, and the light is more than bright enough to see the
subject part.
It comes with a thick plastic cover (more like semi-clear rubber), batteries, rubber eye pieces,
and two sets of lenses; 20X and 50X.
I'm not sure if I will ever use the 50X, as the 20X is more than enough for my applications.
The overall quality is acceptable, and it should last a long time.

I am not impressed with the quality of the light that is built in to the scope. It isn't very bright so I need to use a desk lamp instead. I use it to look at insects and plant material in the course of my work. I had expected the scope to be heavier but that doesn't seem to affect its ability to help me in my work. I guess I had expected a scope of the quality that I used in college classes but it definitely isn't. It is sufficient for my needs even though I have to use extra lighting.Best Deals for AmScope Portable Stereo Microscope 20X-50X

Best Rhythm Band 8-Note Diatonic Hand/Desk Bell Set Deals
I bought this set of handbells for educational/therapy purposes.
The deskbell component works great with those who have trouble gripping or difficulty with forearm swing motion.
The pitches are tuned right and the handbells sound good in ensembles with other instruments.
These handbells can produce surprisingly loud rings, and sometimes they can be a little pain inducing for sensitive ears.
I love how the bell, when used as a deskbell, rings just fine when it's placed on a carpeted floor.
If you are looking to use other colored instruments (like boomwhackers and resonator bells), I highly recommend double-checking the colors before purchasing so all the instruments have matching colors per pitch. I liked how this set has the same red color for the low C and high C, however, did end up making an adaptation to the handle part to visibly demonstrate the difference between the two red handbells.
Durability is at a reasonable level.
Children seem to love to pull on the spherical clapper (the part that flings to hit the bell) and as a result of consistent pulling,
few of the bells have become a little inconsistent when it comes to producing a ring everytime the button is pushed (bell rings just fine when
it's used as a traditional handbell).
Dropping/throwing the bells from standing position onto the floor hasn't damaged these bells at this point (I've used them for about 3 months).
Overall, I'm quite happy with this product. I love the glossy appearance, and so do everybody (young and mature!) who get to use these bells.
Bells are durable, considering the non-instrument-friendly environment I use them in.Very pleased with quality of items purchased, shipping time very quick and well packed. Bells seem well made and work in hand and desk positions. We are new to this hobby and hope that this will be a spring board into "real" hand bells! : )

Learning Resources Reading Comprehension Card Set Gr 6+ (LER5504) Reviews
These cards are decent and when there is some free time and kids are done with their assigned work, it's a good diversion--the topics are interesting and I give them quick little candy incentives when they finish all five questions with no mistakes. LeapFrog App Center Download Card (works with all LeapPad Tablets Review
I've picked these up at $16 and $17.25. Needless to say, it's a great deal since the retail value is $20.
This is pretty much the only way I purchase items for our daughter's Leapfrog.
Just add these to your cart and wait till they go under $20 and then purchase a few.
I have been waiting over a week to receive some I ordered though, which is getting annoying. So the great price and deal comes with patience I guess.
It would be nice if after you paid they just emailed you your codes instead of actually having to ship them. That is dumb and a waste of paper products for just a number. But still, if you get a deal, it is definately worth saving almost half price to add more apps to your devices! ;)
I wish the apps would come down in price a bit...if leapfrog is going to sell $20 cards..but then charges $7.50 as their cheapest item..you really need at least 2 cards to be able to get all you want. Why not lower the price of the apps or make the cards $25?? Whats with the fifty cents?!
This is pretty much the only way I purchase items for our daughter's Leapfrog.
Just add these to your cart and wait till they go under $20 and then purchase a few.

This is great to give as a gift and I like that I don't have to put my credit card on-line, I can just have this card loaded.Honest reviews on LeapFrog App Center Download Card (works with all LeapPad Tablets
Just a heads up that although the description states these cards can be shipped to other select countries it is really only good if you live in the US. So now my niece in Canada has a 20.00 app card thats of no use.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog App Center Download Card (works with all LeapPad Tablets
I have purchased 4 of these cards and paid $11, 13.99, and 2 for $12.89 each. Great deal! You really need these cards if you have the LeapPad! Loading them is super easy. You just connect the USB cord to your LeapPad and computer and there's a place to 'redeem code'. You enter the code that comes inside the box on a credit card sized card and you'll then have an account balance you can use to purchase various apps/games/ebooks that download right to the LeapPad.Sunday, August 24, 2014
Review of Arrow Copter
This is a cross between a sling shot and a simple helicopter toy. That doesn't sound like much until you actually play with one of these things! It shoots 75-100 feet into the air (even for a younger kid), then floats down at a slow enough pace that you get to watch it for quite some time. We got one of these in a toy store and gave it to a friend's kid. Watched how it worked, then got one for each of our nephews and nieces...ahem, and then begged them to let me shoot it once in a while. :D Shoot somewhere away from copter-eating trees, for you want to keep ahold of this copter in order to shoot it over and over.
First, like any flying toy, they *can* end up on rooftops, in trees or other inaccessible places, but that's if you exercise NO caution. But with a nice open space, and a little care, there's no reason that even young children can't enjoy these. Still, why risk having the fun end prematurely? (And trust me, these ARE fun!)
Second, once you see how much fun the kids are having, you'll be itching to snap a few into the air yourself, but you'll be hard-pressed to get the kids to share! :)
Third, they're inexpensive enough that purchasing even multiple two-packs won't shatter your wallet. Great to have on hand for stocking-stuffers, surprise gifts, or for when the young (or not so young) person in your life has had a rough day and could use a pick-me-up.
Fourth, though they won't survive true abuse or being driven over by a car, they're pretty sturdy for a lightweight flying toy.
Fifth, they're pretty harmless. Well, okay, if your kid can't be trusted not to shoot these at people, animals or breakables then this may not be the toy for him/her. But this would be a wonderful toy for any kid who isn't tempted by such impulses.
Sixth, they are a great way to get normally sedentary nerdy kids (like I was) running around outside in fresh air.
I remember getting these when they first came out and firing them off with great results -and I was only a six-year-old girl just starting first grade. Of course, back then, classmates gave me grief for playing with toys that weren't dolls, tea-sets, or other girly toys, but I didn't care. These were that much fun. Heck, I'm going to buy some for myself for old times' sake!
Congratulations on lasting this long, Arrow Copter! May you fly for many decades more!

HOWEVER, I bought several of these this time and they were molded crooked. Bent to the point of not working even. ONE of the several I purchased worked ALMOST as intended after some careful twisting. I thought about sending them back and decided it wasn't worth my time, so I threw them in the trash after about ten minutes. Sigh...

A simple toy that does all that it claims to. As a young lad, I was often enticed into buying toys that claimed to soar into the sky 50ft, 100ft, 150ft or more, but I always came away disappointed, because they never lived up to their claims. Based on my childhood experiences, I didn't have high hopes for the Arrowcopter. Wow, was I shocked and amazed when I slung this thing for its first flight, and it effortlessly shot 150ft into the air. Once I started stretching the rubber band to its limit, the arrowcopter easily soared 300ft into the air. It's great fun. Makes a great stocking stuffer for any Dad...I mean, boy or girl.Honest reviews on Arrow Copter
My son absolutely loves the arrowcopters. I sent these to a friend because I know her kids will love them too. They fly very well and are sturdier than some others I've seen.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Arrow Copter
