Bought this for my 2 year old as we had a 22hr plane journey to endure, and long story short, it kept him entertained on and off the plane. The buckles are good to attach to stroller or backpack easily too. Job done!

My son is 20 months and has been fascinated with "buckles" since he turned a year. He loves to buckle car seats, high chairs and anything else he can find! Thankfully, he doesn't know how to unbuckle yet! I decided to search Amazon for a "buckle toy" as Amazon has everything!! Well, this "Buster" the buckle toy came up. While it is a little pricey, my son loves it! I first introduced it during his 18 month check-up at the pediatrician. The doctor asked me what this toy was and said "I need to buy 10 for the office." He was amazed at how engaged my son was with the toy and it has been a great "life-saver" toy ever since. We bring it in the car, in restaurants or other places I'd like to keep my son busy and entertained quietly. Love this toy!

Honest reviews on Buckle Toy "Buster"

My 15 month old grandchild enjoys putting buckles together, like on his stroller and high chair. To have a number of buckles in a handy format is quite clever. He also likes the face where he can point to different parts for identification.

This keeps my 18 month old busy in her car seat or grocery cart. Some of the buckles are easier than others so now that she has mastered some others are still challenging. It's small size makes it an easy toy to bring places.

My son got this truck at 11 months old. He loves all types of cars and red is his favorite color, so naturally this was a hit. He'll just sit on the floor, rolling it back and forth, while making truck sounds. He likes to spin the wheels, too. It's a small truck, so it fits well in a baby/toddler's hand, and the wheels are the only moving part. It seems very sturdy and safe. We've had it three months and he plays with it everyday.

We purchased this kit for our 15 year old son to use in a Science Class. When it arrived, we opened the box and saw all the cheap pieces used to make up the kit.

Poor paint jobs, crushed styrafoam balls, and pipe cleaners?

The instructions on the box are inter-mixed with "facts" about DNA, so you have to read through a bunch of stuff just to try to understand how to put this kit together.

The listing does not disclose that you need a hot glue gun, and a small rod or screwdriver to poke holes in everything.

Very disgusted with the "quality" of this item. Would not recommend to anyone.

I was missing some green balls in my kit and I couldn't get a replacement sent out in time for my project due date. Also, many of the painted pieces were worn out, chipped, and didn't fit together. The pipecleaners lost a lot of their "fuzziness" by the time all of the balls were strung on. I am very disappointed with it and I definitely do not recommend that anyone else try to use this kit.

I know this craft seems like it would be for a smaller child, but my son is 17 and he put it together for xtra credit when he was learning about the double helix, he had to explain what the balls and the diff colored ladders were, and he did, the teacher gave him xtra credit and a way to go..

Honest reviews on FloraCraft Styrofoam Kits, DNA Model Kit, Pre-Painted

The metal bar included used to hold up the model is WAY too short. We had to cram it all together to make it fit on the bar. It needs a MUCH longer bar to make it better. Also styrofoam is hard to push the pipe cleaner thru. Had to use the metal bar to make holes.

VTech - MobiGo Touch Learning System - Carry Case Review

VTech - MobiGo Touch Learning System - Carry Case
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

I bought this case for the Mobigo and really liked some of the features. It is sturdy and strong enough to protect the items inside. I really liked the protective flap that covers the screen from getting scratched. There is a zipped pocket where you can store quite a few games I have four in there now and could easily double that amount. There are two elastic straps that hold the Mobigo securely in place. It is not too hard for my almost 6 year old to put the Mobigo in but a little tight to take out. I even have some trouble with getting it in and out because it's tight but I imagine it will get easier with use. Overall a good accessory and value.

I purchased a MobiGo for my nephew's third birthday. I thought he may be too young for the game, but he picked it up in no time. Plus, he loves the games which are very educational (Toy Story 3 is his favorite right now.) The game system is well worth the money and easy to use. This case is a "must have." A 3 year old boy is not the most gentle when it comes to toys so the case is wonderful. It stores his gaming system, along with a few games in a durable case. If you are going to spend the money on the system, I would strongly recommend the additional expense of getting a solid case, like this one.

Best Deals for VTech - MobiGo Touch Learning System - Carry Case

durable case with enough pocket room inside for 4 or 5 games.

too bad it cant fit the ac adapter, but i like the strong, yet soft, outer shell that protects the video game. perfect for taking on trips.

the zipper opens up wide enough that you can actually play the game while it's still inside the case, with ease.

would have liked it if they had some cooler colors/designs though.

Honest reviews on VTech - MobiGo Touch Learning System - Carry Case

The Mobigo fits unbelievable tight in this thing. As in, it takes approximately 1 minute of fooling with it to get the thing in or out. I cannot imagine why on earth they created it so amazingly snug, especially for a device intended for small children. There is no way a young kid could use this without assistance. We still use it, to protect the Mobigo, but I (silently) curse the case every time I have to struggle with it.

Fun stuff! Great for chemistry demonstrations. This is the kind that makes a solid glop, not snow.

Put about 6 grams of sodium polyacrylate in a 400 mL beaker, then pour about 300 mL of water (from a decent height to facilitate mixing) into the powder. Distilled water is tops and you can use less, but tap works as well. In about a minute, you have a goo that will cling to an upside down beaker like a tween to her iPhone. Reverse the effect by adding a few grams of sodium chloride (salt) and agitating (stirring) until you see a structure change (common cold booger to watery allergy snots).

I keep a baggie in my purse when I go to bars. My friends are sick of chemistry, and really sick of solid drinks. I still think it's hilarious. Be sure to dispose of this stuff properly, i.e. not in YOUR drains. Your chemistry-hating friends' drains are fair game.

Discount LeapFrog Leapster L-Max Educational Game: Madagascar

LeapFrog Leapster L-Max Educational Game: Madagascar
Customer Ratings: 5 stars
Buy Now
There are four games on this cartridge that features the characters from Dreamworks Madagascar movie. Inside each game there are two levels of play, and in general I would say that even on Level 1 (the easier level) this cartridge is probably too advanced for preschoolers and even some kindergarteners since it requires some reading ability plus some basic math notions.

**Mango Math**

Melman (the giraffe) gets up a tree and Gloria (hippo) tries to get him down. This game starts out (Level one) with simple math equations such as 5 + 2 = X. Melman and Gloria bounce up and down grabbing mangos until the appropriate amount of fruit is collected to answer the equation. [Thus they need to grab 7 mangos].

[The `hint' button will take children to a page where the equation is shown and solved should they not know the answer.]

**Hi Stakes**

In this game Alex (the lion) is looking for Marty at Grand Central Station. On Level One your child will be practicing fractions. Alex will go up and down three different levels searching for the one and only shape that is divided into the correct parts -shows fourths, or thirds, for example.

They will also be shown shapes, such as rectangle that is divided into parts, and asked to identify the numeric fraction that corresponds to the portion of the rectangle that is colored blue. For example, find a number such as ½ or ¼.

[One of the problems I noted with this game is that the numerical fractions are visually hard to make out clearly on the screen. Detail is not so good here.]

**Penguin's Password**

This is a fun letter shuffle game. Children are shown letters such as "a, e, c, k" and they need to reshuffle them to form a real word. In this case the word `cake'.

**Island Hopping**

Obstacle avoidance is part of this game as your child steers jet-ski riding Marty away from debris and incorrect words as they try to complete a sentence. You might see a sentence such as "The ___ laughs" or "The ____ fusses" and your child needs to find a noun that makes sense in this sentence.

Five Stars. [A-]. Although the `Hint' button provides good clues and even answers in many cases, children will need to be able to read and understand basic math concepts to get the most out of this cartridge. They will also need a bit of eye-hand coordination.

I personally find the characters annoying, but this cartridge has such good learning opportunities that I can't really complain. I haven't seen any games anywhere else that cover the same skills as well: learn math, sentence syntax, and spelling, all while having fun.

This program is well written and focuses on beginning math and reading. It is achedemically advanced for my 4 year old who is just learning to read, but he still enjoys playing using the hint feature and just messing around. It is right on target for my kindergartener and will offer challenges for reading well into first grade. Navigating the games is easy. We also loved Math Mission for both boys but found the Spiderman a little weaker because the programming is less interactive, but still rate that one a 3 or 4 star.

Blue iTilt Portable Desktop MP3 / iPod Speaker VStyle by Vivitar
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

Well, this item has very little product info, so I took a chance and purchased it. I wanted something inexpensive that I could take on picnics and weekend getaways. This is the perfect little MP3 Mini dock for travel or a desk at work. I'm not sure why this is listed in the toy category, probably because it was geared toward youngsters.

The sound quality is low grade, so if you're looking for high quality audio, you'll have to spend a lot more money. This iTilt takes 4 AAA batteries (not included), and it has an input for a wall plug converter 110 ACV to 6 volts DC. However, no converter is included. Even so, you can buy a compatible converter at Radio Shack for less than 10 bucks. It also happens my old Palm Pilot charger has the right voltage and plug and seems to work fine with it. But if you experiment with old converters, be sure you know what you're doing -the voltage can be no more than 6 DCV.

It works with a little fold-out stand that exposes a dock with a prong to place your iPod or other MP3 player onto. In the event you have another type of device, it also comes with a double male-ended plug/cord that inputs in the back of the unit. So, for example, if you have a Motorola phone with music storage, you can use the plug/cord accessory to get connected and listening to music.

It measures approx 6.5 inches long and 3 inches tall. It's a nice value if you just want a simple player to take your music from place to place with no hassles.

Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative Adventure Game
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

After reading all the glowing reviews on this product, I was somewhat disappointed upon playing it with my son for the first time. First of all, it's not really "cooperative" in the conventional sense. Playing with my son was the equivalent of the two of us playing as one player and just taking turns. Yes, there are separate game pieces for each player, but other than that you have the same goal and same tools to get you out of trouble. There's really no kind of strategic cooperation to speak of.

The bottom line is probably that my 8 yr-old son is too old for the game. The age range is supposedly 6-9. I would say it is better for 4-7. I believe that kids in that age group may find it fun.

This game is fantastic! I play this game with my 2 boys (ages 4 & 6) all the time and they never get tired of this adventure game. We play it in a verity of different ways and work together to make every game a success. One of the best features of this game is it requires cooperation, you can't win unless you work as a team. This feature alone has taught my guys cooperation and at an age when they are becoming very competitive. In addition to encouraging cooperation we have learned logical thinking and planning and a whole bunch about archaeology as I have used the game to lead into real archaeology lessons that they now incorporate into the game. Oh also this game encourages creativity! Buy this game and go on an adventure with your kids and with out the TV or computer! (Note: I've had the game about a year now and the kids still play it often!)

Best Deals for Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative

I played this game last night with my 8, 6 and 3.5 year olds. When I saw how involved the directions were, I thought there was no way this game was going to work for us. To my complete surprise, we all had a great time! The game itself is fun, in an Indiana Jones kind of way, but playing also provides an opportunity to teach crucial life skills, like listening to each other's ideas, building consensus, and sometimes sacrificing your turn for the good of the whole group. My pawn got stuck in a cave for a couple of turns because we all decided that it was more prudent to save our remedy cards in case we needed them elsewhere, and sure enough we did. Then all three kids got stuck in the other cave while I discovered the final treasure and took it back to the tent. The nice thing about the game is that you can make it what you want, so I pretended to get reinforcements from the tent and rescue the kids. Then we had high fives all around for completing the mission and getting everybody out safely. The kids loved it, and I loved being able to FINALLY play a game with them without any bickering, crying, and hurt feelings.

Honest reviews on Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative

I homeschool my kindergarten age son and I ordered this game to use as one of our "fun time" activities. The educational component is good for a 5 year old as it teaches cooperation and strategy. The game invovles using logic, critical thinking, and planning ahead. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to play, but the directions are clear and once you start playing, it makes perfect sence and was also easy for my 5 year old to understand after I explained it once. He loved it and every time we finished he asked to play again (we played 5 games the first time using). I agree with the age range on the box of age 6 and up. There are a lot of little cardboard cards that you use with the game that could be damaged by a child any younger than that; but the game components should hold up for a long time as long as they are properly taken care of. The length of time it takes my son and I to complete one "game" is about 15 minutes which is great. It can also be played by 1 player which my son was able to do after playing only a few games with me. It's very different than any child's board game I've ever seen and we'll definatly be playing this one alot!

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative

Cooperative games are wonderful for young children. All the players work as a team to travel the paths on the board to collect artifacts and overcome obstacles to win the game. My 5 year old twins (and my mother and I) love playing this game. Of course everyone wants to have the "stinky sock" remedy card that defeats certain obstacles. You use certain cards to create paths to travel on the board so the game is always different each time you play. I am looking forward to finding more games of team cooperation to play with my family. It is great to work together and win the game as a team with no young children crying because they didn't get to win. It's a very clever game. I only wish the game was more durable. The cards are pretty flimsy and I can see that they may not last over time (or the handling by my 2 year old). I may try to laminate them and see if that helps.

Replogle Globes Northwoods Globe, 12-Inch, Bronze Metallic

the globe is beautiful, especially for being so relatively inexpensive. despite the fact that it's basically the same as a classroom globe, the antique colors and classic stand make this one a real treat to have. the writing is big enough to see country, capitol and city names, and boundaries are up to date. i get compliments on it all the time!

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

The product is light and has a VERY cheap feel to it. I guess I was expecting more from a $52 globe... I was expecting more "heft", and I guess I didn't read the description (it probably said "plastic" and "air" in there somewhere). I was focusing more on the fact that the description included the words "bronze" and "metallic". I fooled myself with wishful thinking.

That said, it is more than adequate for my needs: I bought it more for looks and decor than real function (my daughter has her own educational/classroom globe). The mountain ranges are slightly raised, which is a nice touch. I'll probably end up gluing it to the desk though, since it's so lightweight that it'll be easily knocked-over. Shouldn't the BASE at least be properly weighted, for stability? I mean, sheesh...

I guess if one wants a "real" globe, one must be prepared to shell out a few hundred bucks at least.

Honest reviews on Replogle Globes Northwoods Globe, 12-Inch, Bronze Metallic

It works fine and answers all my "globe needing" questions, but I wish it were better quality. Not everything lines up and it just feels cheap. If I had it to do over again I would hold out for something a little bigger and better made rather than worrying about aesthetics... but it does look pretty.

I looked all over for a more manly globe to give as a gift to a male, this one was perfect! The colors are rich and beautiful. The base was my only disappointment.. It's a laminated wood that scratches easily and can't be engraved on. I ended up just adding a gold plate with the engravement. This globe looks awesome in his office and made a great gift.

I purchased this as a replacement for my 3 1/2 year-old daughter's pacifier. She was having an extremely difficult time with the transition but this "chew toy", as she calls it, helped her move on. I bought this for my four year old son, because he wanted to do homeschool like his big brother but didn't have the fine motor skills to trace along dotted lines to form letters which is in many preschool books. He was very excited by the stencils and able to use them. He didn't like the spaces in the letters where there is a cross bar and he had to pick up his pencil. When he finished writing the letters with the stencil, he would go back and fill in the blank spaces. The letters are a nice size, and he also liked putting the sets of letters in abc order, so they had multiple uses. The stencils are of fairly stiff plastic and should stand up to tough wear.
