Cheap 3in Alnico Cow Magnet

I use these magnets during contruction to find nails or screws in the wall while doing "surgical demolition". I place a piece of surgical tubing to 1 end and holding the tubing end, run the magnet along the wall. When it finds a fastener, the end holds to that position. Note that only the ends attract anything. Great little tool.

These magnets have many uses other than cattle. I use mine to locate studs in finished walls (via the sheet rock screws or nails), to retrieve items dropped in hard to reach places, heck, I even used it to remove a small chunk of ferrous metal that became lodged between my eyelid and eyeball! They also can be held up next to most commercial fire alarm systems' smoke detectors to trigger them (for testing purposes only!!! :P ) I wish I had several more of them cause magnets are fun!!!!

Got this for my five year old granddaughter. Five caterpillars arrived in the mail in about a week. All five cocooned in about 5 days and turned into butterfly a few days later; the granddaughter was thrilled.

My daughter Nicole got this from her godmother, she was about six months, so anyway... she liked it because of the color and stuff and we mostly used it for support -since she kept falling backwardsthen when she was a couple of months older she would used it as a pillow (a rather tall one) to rest her head on while watching t.v, and when it was time to take a nap she loved to curl into a fetal position and place her back against it (she still does this, while sucking her thumb)she liked it so much we tried to put it in her crib, but found it too big. Now we've had it for some time and kept it in a corner of the living room, so she could get it when she wanted to watched t.v. One of these days I heard her giggle through the baby monitor and went to check on her, I found her rolling around the floor with it hugged tightly against her, then she placed herself on top of it and sit back and rode it as a horsie... a few days after I found her asleep on top of it, with her thumb in her mouth and her legs streched back and crossed together. She likes this thing so much she won't use anything else to watch t.v or take a nap with, almost everytime we get home the first thing she does is run to it, pull it to the middle of the room and just have fun.It's really amazing -to me anywayhow she hasn't ger tired of it.

The only thing is that sometimes when it's time to go to bed at night she wants to sleep either on top or with it, and she's always saying "no, mama, no!" when I trie to take her upstairs for bedtime OR she says "no, daddy, no" in the most sweetest of voices, with her big blue eyes puppy-stile and a pout and my husband gives right up and lets her have it her way.

But I don't think that's such a bad thing cause she's a heavy sleeper and she doesn't wake up when we take her to her room. Nothing more to say except... I ADORE THIS FREAKING TOY, and more important, SHE ADORES IT EVEN MORE.

I think this is a great product. It supports my son when he is sitting up and he loves to play with it. I have noticed older children like to curl up with it while watching television. I think this would make a nice gift because it is unique. Unlike most baby toys and products, we will get years of use out of the Activity Dino.

The activity Dino made my newborn smile and helped him to learn to sit up. Even now that he is older, he will see it laying on the back of the couch and will crawl to it and crinkle some of the fabric or will just smile at the colors or when I squeeze the nose to make a roaring sound. I highly recommend it, especially for the 0-4 month age group.

This little monkey is very cute but also very loud and attention-seeking (you know the type of toy; he keeps calling for more play time if he feels neglected for even a moment ha). There is an "off" button but no volume control. If I were rating him as a mom, I would deduct a star for these reasons but as I'm reviewing him on behalf of my 2.5 year old, I'll leave him with his 5 stars as she loves his songs, the ease with which she can change his outfits, his catchy songs, etc. He is great for reinforcing colors, refining motor control, modeling good manners ("please," "thank you!") and following instructions. His red hat has to go on a certain way to stick (side-ways, sort of -my husband had to show us), but that's no deal breaker. A bonus is that his shoes are connected, so there's no way to lose one (it's all or nothing!). If your baby likes this, she (or he) might like the Minnie Mouse kit I think by Fisher Price? where you can dress Minnie by clicking in her (slightly more pliable) plastic dresses, hats, and shoes (which are also one piece). This monkey is a great alternative if you're looking for a more gender neutral (and louder?) option and to be honest, the monkey has been more engaging for my toddler because of the music. We've only had him for two days so I'll update if this changes but she's truly been very excited by this little guy and sits playing with him for long stretches of time (i.e., more than 15 min!). We bought him for twelve bucks and change, so might be worth waiting for a sale although I do think there might be a limited window where he'll be interesting to a toddler (and at 2.5 years old, I think my daughter will probably outgrow him within the next month or two).

I bought this monkey for my 18 month old for christmas, he has not gotten a chance to play with it but his dad and I have!! It is very fun and teaches alot. Daily life skills, colors and more. It also sings songs according to what he has on. For example he will say put on my yellow pajamas and once it is put on he will say thank you and then sing a song about pajamas and say goodnight. This is hands down one of the best fun and learning toys my son will have this christmas!!

As soon as I saw this toy on Amazon.com, I knew I had to buy it for my daughter, even though she is much younger than the recommended age (she was 6 months at the time). Now, at 1 year old, she simply loves it, even though I still sometimes need to help her 'dress' the monkey. It is a very unique and sturdy toy, as cute as it can be, and I am sure she will use it for a long time and that it will still be in pristine shape for her siblings.

I have one complaint though: I would love to be able to buy extra pieces of clothing for it. 8 pieces is fair enough for a start, but I quickly started to wish that there were more pairs of shoes, glasses, a cap, etc. Not only because it would be more fun for the child, but also because when the monkey says it needs its green shoes to go out, I am not sure if my baby puts whatever pair of shoes she finds on, or if she actually would make a difference between a green pair and a red one. And since this toy aims at teaching the name of pieces of clothing, why not do a more complete job at it and bring extras to the table?

A suggestion for VTech: I am not usually a fan of 'girly toys', as in general I prefer unisex toys. But for this one, I am sure girls would love a girly version of the toy, because they would be able to understand when it is appropriate to wear a dress and when a more casual outfit is best. And actually, a girl monkey would have the advantage to be able to wear a dress or a skirt as well as shorts, which would give baby the opportunity to learn about clothing for both sexes.

This "educational" toy was such a disappointment! The quality is poor for the cost. There is no groove to help the young children this is intended for to keep their "pencil" on track. The magnet is too strong so the little balls lift into their place when you haven't traced over them yet. Worst of all, the handwriting strokes are incorrect. I reviewed the most common handwriting styles (Palmer, Zaner-Bloser and D'Nelian) to confirm my suspicion that the little arrows directing the strokes are not even correct for some of the letters. There is some entertainment value provided by the magnets and balls, but learning to write letters correctly with this toy would be impossible. I will be sending this back!

My 3-yr old has been glued to this ever since it arrived at our house. She is fascinated by how the stylus picks up the ball bearings & then loves using her finger to retrace the letters & push the balls back down. It's nice to see her so riveted in learning her letters & practicing how to hold & control a pencil. Like every Kid-O product we have seen, this one is beautifully made & also beautiful to look at with a nice, clean, simple design. Though it is made of plastic, it feels very satisfying in the hand, with a nice weight & sturdiness to it. I can see that this would be a great toy to take along for long trips in the car.

The only reason I reduced the number of stars rating the toy's education value from five to four is that I think this would be a much better learning tool if the magnetic stylus were triangular in shape to encourage a proper writing grip.

Unfortunately this toy does not help children to learn to write letters.

I bought this for my 4-year-old son because he is interested in learning to write. I thought this toy looked like a nice way to work with him on this and I liked that it was not electronic (no batteries, lights, etc.) like some others I looked at. It arrived in a really badly damaged box but the toy was still intact. However the toy itself (despite being intact and undamaged) is close to useless.

The magnets work in such a way that my son just uses the stylus to tap around in random spots on the letters in order to bring up the magnets. You don't in any way need to keep the "pen" on the surface in order for the magnets to pop up. While it is vaguely entertaining to have the magnets come up and then to push them down, there is really nothing accomplished in doing this. Moreover, the toy comes with "instructions" in the form of numbers with arrows that show you which direction to move your stylus in order to make the letters. These orders are very strange. For example, for an "M" the numbers suggest that you first make one vertical line, then make the other vertical line, and then make two diagonal lines that join in the middle. This is definitely not how most people would write the letter M. Luckily (or not) my son completely ignores these numbers as he randomly taps his pen around.

My complaint is not only that this toy will not help my son learn to write letters, however; it is also boring for a child his age. It does appear to be sturdy: but we will probably give it away quite quickly. This is definitely a disappointment and I am confused about why the other reviews were so positive. Maybe we are missing something? This is a rare miss for us as I have almost always been satisfied with toys purchased on Amazon.

I purchased a Kid-O A to Z Magnatab two years ago for the puzzle table in our children's library (it's a busy small town library.) We made the choice to drill a small hole in the "pen space" and through the magnetic pen, and to attach the two pieces together with a ribbon (so we didn't lose it).

This toy is incredibly popular, used every single day for two years by multiple children, who through MUCH repetitive use are actually managing to wear off the printed red letters. We've never lost a ball-bearing, since they are so firmly in place. It was so worth the cost, and we ended up buying the lower-case alphabet and the "0-9" versions as well. Many of our library visitors have ended up buying their own as a result of its popularity, and all our local toy stores now carry it as a result. Did I mention it fits in our puzzle rack?

I feel this toy teaches the use of a pen, and encourages letter recognition in an inventive kinesthetic manner. I would agree that it doesn't actually teach kids to draw the letters (try having your kids draw their letters in playdough instead), but it does promote fine motor coordination. Oh, and it is really FUN.

I just bought this for my child in a local toy shop and spent more than the Amazon price :-( I did notice that some of the characters are formed in a way that I wasn't taught (W, for instance). This has been an issue for other reviewers. I wonder how much does it really matter that a child uses a non-standard pattern to get a well-formed letter.

Tracing a shape with a finger is a tactile method of teaching handwriting (like Montessori sandpaper letters). So, I think it's nice that the toy reinforces the lesson this way. Some of the metal bearings pop up before you need them, but I look at it as a bit of prompt for the child.

The grit pack includes coarse grit, fine grit, pre-polish and finish polish. It works great with Tru-Square rock tumblers for basic rock polishing. I've gotten great consistent results, using this for over a year. Portions must be measured out for each operation, (I use a food scale). This way you can vary the amount used for different hardness rocks. Overall this is a great system for hobby rock collectors.

My son really seemed frustrated that he kept getting "killed" before he can even spell any words. It's very violent for the recommended age. For kids who have only watched Nick Jr. and were not exposed to violent video games or movies this is really disturbing. He frequently asks me if I can go back to putting his weekly spelling words on the Didj Sonic Hedgehog game instead since it always helped him get ready for spelling tests. Leapfrog needs a better spelling game for boys. This isn't what you would expect from them.

My son is only four but loves the comic book heroes so I went ahead and got this game for him. He loves it! He started out finding the letter they would ask for and now he can spell many of the words. I like that it will ask him to spell a word and then for each letter of the word will give him four letter choices. So it says spell "bat" and the first group of letters will be t, j, b, g and he will select b. Then it will give him four more letters... this breaks it down for him. It also gives him a few tries so even if he's guessing he's got a shot at spelling it. He has a hard time distinguishing between the capital and lowercase letters but overall he enjoys the fighting and exploration and I am pleasantly surprised with how well he is doing. Parents can also customize the spelling list by connecting to the leapster website (I haven't tried this yet but intend too). I would definetely recommend this game to other comic book fans that want to "fight the bad guys" :)

I have two problems with this game: first, the violence. For the child to advance in gaming mode, ALL of the humans must be killed. I tried to avoid fighting, but I could not go to the next screen as one can with the Star Wars game. This to me is unacceptable as children should learn that avoiding a fight is always an option. LeapFrog defends their choice by saying, "children never see blood" and "we stay true to the character." Well perhaps a homicidal, depressed character is not the appropriate choice for a LeapFrog game to begin with. Secondly, the spelling on easy mode is NOT easy. The first test my son got was to spell "laugh." I would not consider this a Kindergarten level word. REALLY regret not reading the reviews first. And I really regret giving in to my son's delighted reaction to the built-in LeapFrog advertising on the Explorer. If these issue both you as well, please learn from my mistakes. Run away from this product.

Shame on me for not researching this game better, but all the Leapfrog games we have ever had have been so good, and non violent that I trusted them. This game is terribly violent. My 5 yr old son is one of those rough and tough sweet cowboys. He loves action games but we have a rule... nothing with blood. This is great because he still gets to fight the bad guys, but they just disappear with no gore or screaming. He is very active in tennis and competitive swim with a small attention span. This game holds his attention unlike the Toy Story game (surprising since he loves Woody). As far as learning goes, my son has a severe speech delay that has affected his learning. He goes to a special preschool with other gifted youngster. This game has made him enjoy spelling!!! He already knew his letter which helped and now he understands that when put together they mean something. I carry a little notepad in my purse and he even loves spelling the words on paper now. Having been through multiple therapy programs with my son, I am so impressed by what he was able to learn from a GAME. When he comes up to me and is so excited to show his mommy the MANY spelling words he knows, I want to cry for joy.

I bought this for my wife, who learned English as a second language and wanted to learn nursery rhymes to teach our 2-year-old son.

If you already know your nursery rhymes, this is a pretty good product with colorful picture cards. But I thought it would include lyrics, either on the cards (back or front) or at least in the instruction guidebook, because it would be such an obvious thing to do, given how many materials are included. It didn't. It was not the seller's fault for not including this info in the product details (products tend to not list features it does not have, of course!), but my fault for being too presumptive. However, the seller was nice enough to refund us the money back.
