This is the fourth Vtech learning system I have purchased. My grandson loves his new InnoTab. I bought rechargeable batteries but the InnoTab seems to drain them quicker than the V-Reader and MobiGo. The only thing I did not like about the InnoTab was that you only get three free downloads. The V-Reader and Mobigo gave a lot more downloads. For the price of these systems I think Vtech should include more games or downloads. Overall I have been very satisfied with all the Vtech products and my grandson loves them.

Educational Insights GeoSafari Phonics Lab Reviews
My kindergarten kids use this toy at a learning center. It's a fun way for students to sing the alphabet song, learn their letters and sounds, and create 3 letter words, and it's also very importantly something they can do independently. The first time I bought the phonics lab it lasted several years. I bought a new one just a couple of months ago, however, and it no longer works. I have a feeling the toy arrived defective and I'm disappointed!

Reviews of Boikido Wooden Percussion Table
I adore this little percussion table, it definitely has the cute factor and my 14-month old loves to play with it (as well as his 3 year old brother). The only issue we have it that it does tip over easily if any weight is put on the table on either side of the cymbal. I am afraid he will climb on top and topple over, so I can't leave this out when I am not watching closely. I would love to see the manufacturer substitute 2 legs spread out on the back side instead of only 1 in the middle. Otherwise, it is a very nice toy and totally worth the price!
It is definitely tipsy, apparently because of a design compromise to make it lightweight and easier to ship. But after a few hours of sporadically satisfactory play he figured out that it's just not for standing on: you have to sit down to play with it. The way I see it, the table helped him to actually reason something out. I'm not sure the tippiness is a net negative.
Regarding the drum skin's proneness to damage, we've had the table for 8 months now and the skin's still in very good condition. There are a few small concavities from vigorous pounding, but it sounds brand new. I did work with him several times to hold the drumstick properly, which probably helped.
My biggest complaint is that the xylophone sounds flat. You can still play a fun chiming tune on it, but it definitely doesn't ring out, especially in comparison with the high-volume cymbal and drum. I'd buy it again, partly because I just think it's fun.

My baby loves this percussion table! It also required very little assembly (yay!) and doesn't take up too much room (double yay!) The only problem with it is that it is a bit unstable and she pulls it over on herself very easily. Therefore, I don't plan to let her play with this without me right there.Best Deals for Boikido Wooden Percussion Table
I first saw this toy in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Christmas catalogue. When I went to buy it from them they were no longer selling it. I should have realized that this was a bad sign. But I thought is was so cute, and my daughter, who was going to be 16 months by Christmas, is fascinated by music. I should have paid more attention to the reviews. The table is indeed cute. What is not cute is that the xylophone is completely out of tune, and it is difficult to get it to make noise. You have to hit the keys just right. How is a small child supposed to hit the keys just right? The drum and cymbal are better, but the drum is very small, and she gets bored with it very quickly. The table is also a funny height, if she is standing she has to stoop to reach it. And if she sits on something her knees tend to hit it. She is not large for her age, exactly 50th percentile in height. One reason I liked the idea of the table was that it would be too big for her to throw out of her play corral, however it is so light that she can still throw it out, and knock it over, and drop it on her foot, or my foot. She spends more time knocking it over and dropping it than she does playing it. It's really not worth the money.Honest reviews on Boikido Wooden Percussion Table

I bought this stylish combo of drum, cymbal and xylophone on impulse at a local shop. I nearly returned it the next day due to complaints on this site about it tipping over and the potential for kids to destroy the drum skin. But desperate to entertain my bored 10-month-old lad, I tore it open--and with no regrets. It is definitely tipsy, apparently because of a design compromise to make it lightweight and easier to ship. Reviews of Brain Mold
I find this too complicated to mess with and wouldn't have kept it except that a friend was desperate for an illustration for a brain talk so I gave it to her and she made it work.

I bought these brain molds for my son's science project. The molds held up very well to warm gelatin, which we used to create the different parts of the brain. We plan on keeping the molds to make yummy jello brain at Halloween.Best Deals for Brain Mold
This is a great set of molds, but there are a few flaws. The plastic used to make the molds I received is nowhere near as sturdy as the plastic shown in the demo videos for this product. They also did not need separating by cutting, as shown, but instead arrived nested together. They work perfectly well, but the detail is minimal and the two halves do not match well enough to mold a complete brain. I suspect that they made one side bigger, and simplified details to accommodate the nesting mold parts made of lower cost plastics. This will not stand up to repeated classroom use.Honest reviews on Brain Mold
The mold was not easy to unmold, but my students LOVED it. They just left the jello in the mold and it worked for them.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Brain Mold
I found it hard to get the jello out of the mold in one pretty piece and the overall appearance was not what we wanted for my daughter's project. We changed gears and used it with colored melting chocolate and the project earned her a score of 102!!!! She had to do a poster board also but the class enjoyed seeing and eating her projectI m just sad she did not bring any home for me.Monday, November 17, 2014

Reviews of Stack & Smile Crocodile
We are peek a freaks and love this little crocodile. My son mostly likes the noises it makes, but is just in the last few months figuring out how to stack the blocks on the crocodiles back. He was about 6 months when he got this and learned very fast how to make the crocodile make noises, and how to open his back to get to the blocks stored inside.
(*
This toy basically makes some noise when the mouth opens or the back opens. It comes with these blocks which are kind of awkward b/c they don't stay stacked together well.
Its got a few good things going for it.
Positives:
Little hands can stack the blocks well b/c they latch easily (just don't stay that way)
It makes sound
It has storage for the blocks but only 4 of them actually that's probably just the right number for this age group. I wouldn't buy more. If your kid needs more then it's lego time.
Negatives:
This toy is just plain weird. Why a crocodile? Why would a crocodile want blocks stacked on it? Why doe a crocodile's back open up? Nothing about this makes any real world sense.
The little blocks have little things inside them. That's kind of neat but the age range this is intended for probably won't even notice it. It's a detail on a toy when infant/toddlers are looking at big concepts.
So its kind of a novel toy, but 30 bucks? If i'm going to spend that kind of money it had better be an AWESOME toy. Frankly this toy annoys me just for the space it takes up there are so many OTHER toys out there that are better.
The noise the little crocodile noises are kind of cute, but i kind of hate the sound of the blocks inside the crocodile when they are stored. Kind of like "clunkety clunk clunk" really loud. I dread touching this thing if my son is asleep.
The blocks fit inside, but they don't lock inside. If the toy tips over, the blocks go everywhere. If you were planning on throwing this in a toybox forget it. It needs to be stored on a shelf. That in itself is a bummer.
Yeah, it gets good marks from a kids perspective, but as the parent i kind of don't really like it a lot.
If I saw it at a garage sale I might get it, if it was $5 or less.

Hoopah Kidview Computer Explorer Reviews
I am a home schooling mom and I use the internet as one of my main home schooling sourses. What I love about Hoopah is that I can leave my kids completely alone to surf the net! No worries!!! My daughter can home school on the internet and I dont have to worry about her leaving the websites I have pre chosen. I have also discovered many new educational web sites and games that were all ready pre configured into the Kidview computer explorer. It is very easy to set up, and my kids knew how to use it without me even telling them. I highly reccomend Hoopah to every parent who has a computer! Oh and the word Hoopah, thats Hebrew for canopy or covering, how clever!
I believe in keeping a child curious and creating challenges for them to learn from-the Kidview Explorer allows both my young boys to explore in todays internet world. My 7 year old has many interests: puzzles/math/art... after installing this program he does not have to waste time searching individual web sites-they appear with one stroke of a finger!!!
I look forward to seeing these children develop comfort in their reading and comprehesion skills.
Finally, I am through being frustrated using other search engines to find safe and credible educational sites for me and my children. Hoopah Kidview Explorer has done it for me and better than ever imagined. It truely is God-sent to a parent with little computer awareness. I trust their knowledge and technology in my home.

An independent review...This is what I consider to be the best program I have found for my twin 3 year olds to date. It will keep them from messing up their computer operating system. I have a computer set up exclusively for them and this is where I think the product stands out. You don't even need to monitor. The kids will be exposed to all sorts of educational games/web sites etc. (Kind of a baby sitter, not that I am promoting hours of computer use.) Recommend a high speed connection. If the kids share your computer and you start their games or look up web sites for them, you may not need this product. I think the user interface could use some work and the desktop could be more efficiently used but that said, the company is off to a great start into an area of software that was badly needed!Best Deals for Hoopah Kidview Computer Explorer

Best LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior) Deals
This storage case is a must have to keep the Tag Junior and books together. The description says that it holds 4 books, but we have 4 in the case with plenty of room left over. I would say that it would easily hold 5 or 6 which is really fine becase you can only have 5 books downloaded on the Tag Junior at one time anyway.
The way the dual zipper is set up makes it easy for toddlers and pre-schoolers to open and close it themselves. The Tag Junior unit itself fits very snugly in the case it requires some effort it just doesn't slide in (and therefore won't just slide out when the case is unzipped).

I bought this for my two year old to keep all his Tag Junior items in. It is perfect. He is able to open and close it by himself and the books and reader fit perfectly. The other reviewer mentioned that the reader was hard to put in the case, but if you flip it upside down, the fit is perfect. The case would easily hold 5+ books which is all we'd have out at once anyway. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who purchases the Tag Junior.Best Deals for LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior)
Not just for travel, this Tag Jr. case keeps your Jr and the books that go with it [up to 5] in one location and protects both very well. Easy carry handle, partitioned inside and visually stimulating it is a must. We try to keep my son's tag available at all times and together with it's books, which is hard with all the other toys and books he owns. Having a spot to put them that he can easily identify is so worth it. And the Jr is protected for longer life.Honest reviews on LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior)
I got this case for my 2 year old's Tag Jr. I love that it looks like a little house---so cute! I do wish it came in purple to match the "girl" leapfrog products. But, overall I'm very pleased with the case. It holds one book and the Tag flashcards, and looks like there is room for at least two more books. You have to put the Tag Reader in upside down, and it will fit perfectly. The actual Tag Jr has been hit and miss for us, but my daughter's favorite part is opening up the case and putting everything in and back out again.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog LeapReader Junior Storage Case (works with Tag Junior)

This is a fun toy, and I am an adult! I actually bought this for my husband and we both ended up loving it. I bought 3 different ones (original, cartoon, and horror) and they are all great. We brought them to a family get together and had everyone laughing. The sounds are fairly realistic sounding for the most part, and loud, considering the size. They said it would take 30 days for shipping and we got it within 2 weeks, it came from the UK. The sound buttons are not rapid fire, you have to wait for one sound to stop before you can play the next sound. Some of the 16 sounds are hard to explain, but I will try to tell you all of them since they don't list them:
-audience clap,
-audience laugh,
-a high-pitched trumpet from high to low "wa-wa-wa-waaaa",
-a deep buzzer like you got the answer wrong "daa doooo",
-a falling bomb and explosion,
-a shot gun load and blast (the "chh-chh bang!" in the product picture),
-breaking glass,
-"cha-ching!",
-drum roll,
-shave and a hair cut song "da-daddl-a-da-da da-da",
-"boi-yoi-yoing!",
-"ding!",
-flirty whistle "wheet-whew",
-woman scream,
-fart,
-and of course, burp.
The gadget seems to fill the bill. It's loud enough. Can't say how durable it will be or how long the batteries will last. But for what it is, it seems good so far.
Update....we've been using this for several months and we have no bear attacks to report--HA--anyway, it's held up and works fine. I customized it a bit...I only wanted certain sounds--ones that seemed loud and could be heard in the woods. I cut off the buttons of those sounds that weren't very useful and left the ones that I thought would work better (there's one of a scream that is very effective). I wanted to be able to launch a sound without looking at the device and just by touch.

We needed something to make noise while hiking in bear country. I bought this for a gag (obviously) and its a cute little sound maker. The sounds are a combination of "cartoon" crashes and bangs, as well as sounds like cat call whistle, idea "bing", cash register "cha-ching, shotgut blast, bomb drop, etc. The quality of the samples are very good and the sound is nice and clear coming from this small device. It almost fits in a pocket comfortably too. Only gripe is that it could be a bit louder, but thats unrealistic coming from the little speaker. The thing actually looks pretty cool too. What a great choice it has several dif. games in it. You can wash the puppy, get it ready for a dog show, take it for a walk and a few other things I forget. My daughter plays this game over and over. So if your child likes the built in game. They will love this one.
although he can not use all the games, there are some that he is capable of playing at this age. Its great for learning the alphabet too.
All in all, a good investment.

Honest reviews on Leapfrog Clickstart Educational Software: Scout's Puppy Pals
We don't have a lot of click-start games, but this one is by far my 4 year old daughter's favorite. That is saying something considering she has the Disney princess game and her obsession with princesses. She immediately went up to Level 2, as level 1 was waaaaay below her, but she enjoys all of the games. For a slightly younger child it may be more educational. It mainly teaches the ability to draw letters in both upper and lower case and to read numbers. Since she could already do those things, I don't think she is learning much, but she absolutely loves dressing up her puppy for the dog show. All in all, a good investment.
