My grandmother gave my four-year-old daughter this game for Christmas. It quickly displaced Lion King as my daughter's favorite v-smiles game (and the favorite of my wife and I as well). Featuring Winnie the Pooh and all the other characters from this Disney classic, the game is both fun and educational.

Basically, Pooh wants to hold a party for his friends but is out of honey. So the game's mission (in adventure mode) is to find jars of honey. Along the way, kids learn counting, the alphabet, and some basic spelling. There's also some secret levels to discover -albeit not so secret that a four-year-old cannot find them.

Overall, one of v-smiles best games, in terms of both fun and educational value.

Although we've gotten more game play time from Alphabet Park Adventure (included w/ the V-Smile) and The Lion King, Winnie-the-Pooh is one that the kids (2 & 4) keep going back to. Cute, fun, age-appropriate, it really helps work on those joystick skills while giving a sense of accomplishment (you can play the activities as a series and accumulate "hunny pots"). Unlike the dull Care Bears this is one early childhood game that is fun for adults to watch (and to play, if the kids will let you :-)

My son plays this game all the time and he loves it! It starts out with simple, easy games, such as collecting the alphabet in order and numbers in order. It then transfers to colors and I think it teaches them really well. It also always repeats the item you collect (pink balloon, the game says, "Pink"). It also gets more difficult as it goes on. I find it great for young ones (2.5 up to probably kindergarten or 1st grade). There are more difficult portions that test hand/eye coordination (the jump rope). I think it's a fabulous game...on of the best...with beloved characters and great games. My son (4 years) LOVES to play it! It has helped with his colors, letters, numbers and hand/eye coordination in many ways! I highly recommend it to anyone with a child who loves to learn and play between 2 and 6 years old.

I bought this for my daughter's 4th birthday. She loves it--it's a game she is able to do, and learning that is at her level. Some of the other games even when they say 3-6 years, etc--it is sometimes too difficult for her. Even my 5 year old son loves it--he especially loves helping his little sister figure out problems.

No preschooler can resist this game. It is fun, educational, best of all it has Winnie the Pooh. There are two modes of play. You can play the short easy games like memorie or you can play the learning adventure game where Pooh goes through different environments collecting honey. This game keeps my 3 year old interested for hours. He can play all of the short learning games by himself but he still needs help with the adventure game. The adventure game is a little complicated but fun for an adult, too, so I don't mind helping him through the hard obsticles. Every kid with a V-Tech Smiles should have this game.

It's great that it recognizes when the puzzle piece is in place, and this takes him a while to do, but it is worth it to him, and motivates him to really try by the "rewards" of what it says and he really likes when he can make it tell silly stories.

When we took this out of the box at Christmas for my son to play with, we almost immediately noticed that the toy does not always register when a puzzle piece is being taken out or put back in. The toy is designed to make a sound each time a puzzle piece is removed or pushed in, and then when the piece is placed in correctly, it gives you some kind of information about the public service profession, or just makes sounds, depending on what mode you have it in. (Story mode, where it tells you a silly story as you put the different pieces in, learning mode that tells you about each puzzle piece, and music mode, that plays music and sounds together.) As adorable as this toy is, I just wish ours worked correctly. As I said above, it doesn't always notice pieces being taken out or put in, and also sometimes blurts out the wrong info, ie. my son puts the fire truck piece in and it tells him about the police officer's job. For now, my son is 2 years old and I dont think he is actually paying attention to everything it is saying anyway. Wishing I could have returned this, but it was a gift from someone else with no gift receipt. :[ CUTE idea, covers the main public service professions, and is not an annoying toy as far as the sounds go, just cant rate it well for durability reasons obviously.

Very detailed and the weight is right on track. I went to the Big Horn mountains for a week to do a Dinosaur Dig with my university, and Federal law stipulates we can't take or remove any bones for personal use! However, we can always get little keepsakes to remind us of the adventure. I chose to spraypaint mine since they look far more realistic with black bone (we were digging in the Morrison formation).

My 5 year old nephew is a HUGE Star Wars Clone fan and asked for this toy for Christmas so I ordered it for him. He LOVES this laptop. He takes it everywhere with him and has really enjoyed playing the games. Some of the are a little harder for him that just means as his skills grow, he can still play with this. His mom and dad are glad he got this since it keeps him entertained when in the car. Now he says I am his favorite Aunt ! My little guy is four and hes very into Star Wars. We picked this up recently at a yard sale for a very reasonable price and I couldnt be happier. The graphics are old school. If you're looking for high quality HDish colors and sharpness, this isn't what your looking for and you'll be disappointed.

On an education value it's great! There's lots of games and levels to grow with! The voice overs are fantastic and sound like the characters in the Star Wars movies my kiddo is so fond of. It appears to have a place for an ac adapter which is a huge plus as well. I;m sure if you take it to your local electronics store you can get a compatible adapter. It looks like a pretty common size. The volume doesn't go very low, but it doesn't bother me and theres a "music" on/off button. Overall it's a great product and it's old school pixeled screen doesn't affect how much my child enjoys this at all.

I wanted to love this puzzle. I loved it online, and since I am not much of a fan of the Melissa and Doug brand, I thought this puzzle and the others by DwellStudio would be great. I have other Dwell Studio products so I thought this was sure to be a great puzzle.

Cons:

We purchased two puzzles and BOTH arrived with smeared paint. Not a big deal, but I expected better from this company.

The colors are MUCH darker than you are seeing in the picture on Amazon. I know that monitors vary, blah blah, but honestly, the green looked light green or bright green in the picture and is actually much much darker. Overall the colors are darker and not bright and engaging, which is what you would want for a young child.

Overall, I was very disappointed by the dark, drab colors and the smeared paint so I returned these puzzles. A bit sad, as I really loved them in the pictures online.

I got this as a gift for my daughter. It is so stinkin' cute! It is good quality, I expect to see it played with for years to come.

My only complaint is the price. It does cost more than other wood puzzles. I guess you have to pay for the cute.

Yes, it's a wonderful concept, and could have been executed beautifully. You would expect so, for the price.

However, the painted plywood is full of jagged edges and splinters. The kind of care that goes into a PlanToy or other wooden toys that parents shelling out this kind of money for non-plastic have grown accustomed to, sadly, is absent in this toy. I don't know if this has always been the case, or if they've recently chosen a cheaper manufacturer who isn't executing to Educo's standards, but it's certainly the case with the toy I just received.

The Educo Shake `n Match Shape Sorter is perfect in so many ways. It is made of high quality materials and is the perfect size for small hands.

The problem I have with most sorters is that they have removable lids that my genius child likes to... remove and then easily put the different shapes in a big gaping hole rather than using the actual cut outs. This sorter is different and might I just add genius. The opening for you to remove the different shapes is blocked by an elastic band that easily moves to the side when you want to get the shapes through it, but stays sturdily in place with you want them to stay in.

Another thing I love about this sorter is that the shapes are color coordinated so that the circle shape matches the circle cutout. This aids my little guy in matching them up and gives you the opportunity to teach colors as well as shapes.

Each shape is filled with little beads that jingle when you shake them and make the "toy" that much greater.

Did I mention it is made of wood? That is always a big plus in my book!

All in all, I am give this shape sorter 5 STARS because my little boys love it! Elliot enjoys the challenge of fitting all the shapes in the sorter and Hudson loves the rattle it gives when he rolls it!

This product is made by a company called Hape which I am quickly falling in love with. All their toys are educational and beautiful! They might just take the place of Melissa and Doug in my heart... might... I will let you know.

an amazing shape shorter toy. it's beautiful. it's well built and lightweight (so it's easy for little ones to pick up). it's fun. i am very pleased with this toy. the colors are vibrant and chip proof. i also love how the blocks have beads in them and make noise. my son is 11months so he hasn't mastered putting the shapes in the holes yet but he does play with this toy every single day for at least 30mins. he likes pulling them out and putting them back in the same way. i find other toys stuffed inside as well. he enjoys shaking the blocks.

We got this for my 15 month old son and he loves it! I wanted a really nice wooden shape sorter that would keep his attention and this one did the trick. He loves the shapes and that they make nose. he loves to try to fit them into their holes. Its also a very sturdy toy. I've caught him using it as a stepping stool to reach things on the table! And its not enormously huge either which is always a plus :)

This shape sorter is the only wooden non-toxic version that doesn't have an easily removed lid. At first our 11-month son was frustrated because getting the pieces out of the side takes some dexterity, but that in itself turned into a learning experience. He loves to shake the toys and so far they have remained impervious to much banging and sliding. I do find the other wooden shape sorters more attractive, but in the end this one offers more educational opportunities.

I bought this to help my kindergartener with his reading skills. Word recognition (finding the words he wants), sentence structure (putting words together to form sentences), creativity (telling a story). The only problem we've had is that there are so many words that it can be overwhelming and/or hard to find a particular word. Grouping like-words together can help. It's well-made and durable. The words are magnetized, but work well on any hard surface. My son usually uses a cookie sheet.

As an early childhood educator, I know the importance of early literacy skills. My 6 year old daughter uses these magnets to make up her own silly sentences. I would recommend this for kindergarten-1st grade, for preschoolers it will be too frustrating and for older children it will be too easy. I like the variety of words. I rated the durability somewhat low because it would be rather easy to bend the magnet and break it (this has happened before to us with another set), but with a child 5 years old or older you should be able to explain to them not to do that. Yet another reason why this wouldn't work so great with preschoolers they may just tear them apart!

We used this kit for helping my son learn to read. We started with one word on the board. As he memorized the words, we added them one at a time. After a while, we were able to add words more quickly. When he had lots of words memorized, we started making silly sentences for him to read. Sometimes he makes them for me and sometimes I make them for him. The words are larger and easier to move that the regular magnetic poetry set, but the selection is limited. The kit does not include color names (which we really missed; we made our own magnets for those). Great for beginners. To make really fun poetry, you'll want to move on to the regular kit.

This Magnetic Poetry Set made a fine stocking stuffer for my soon-to-be five year old daughter.

She has just started reading on her own, and has developed an interest in spelling. These words give her great exposure to both. They are all quite simple, and almost below her reading level. However, this works out well as she doesn't have to concentrate too hard on any one word. Instead, she can go up to the refrigerator and make up all manner of silly sentences and sentence fragments and giggle maniacally with her two year old sister, who can't read, but loves having big sis read to her. We've also practiced searching for words to describe various stretches of our Frigits marble run, (fast, slow, green, and for the final marble capture, the phrase 'going home' etc.) which is kind of a cool dual use for these.

As a young adult, I always had the adult variation of Magnetic Poetry on the fridge, and it's a thrill to pass the fun on to my kids. Parents who are familiar with the adult version, will be thankful that the words were chosen wisely for this introductory set. And so it appears, thus far, to be virtually impossible to make near-offensive or vulgar sentiments (the only noun that's gotten a lot of play that way is 'nose' because you can make all kids of booger-related references by using the word nose, which is just kid-level silliness).

All-around, I'm totally pleased with this one, and would highly recommend as an extra tool to make reading more fun for kids. I think it's definitely had that effect for my daughter.

Unfortunately, I got this item for my son who was turning 8, thinking that it would have the kind of games that would help him build more skills. Not the case. All of the games on here do not TEACH anythingthey are merely games that review skills like addition, subtraction, and spelling. As a side note, the seller I bought this from was selling this item used and it didn't come with instructions. While I would've saved time if I'd had them, the toy was fairly easy to figure out. My son DOES still enjoy playing with this, but I think that's more because we don't often let him use electronics, so this is something of a novelty for himand he loves Transformers, of course! The bottom line is that I don't think this game will hold the attention of most kids over the age of six or seven, but kids younger than that won't really be able to play these games on their own without an adult nearby to help. Although the idea was a good one, in reality I don't think it's all that good. I wouldn't really recommend this.
