These are the BEST...tried others but they chipped immediately! These are far more durable and didn't chip at all.

Essentially the same as Bill Ding original stacking clowns as far as size. But Vilac's version are robots. I believe there is a growing interest in robots and I think these are much nicer looking than the scarier looking clowns ...I hesitated showing the clowns to my young grandchildren. I hope you will consider this fun product!

My three year old son loves robots. LOVES robots. He is also a natural builder. As I go about our day, I find all types of things stacked throughout the house. He will rearrange our candle sticks on the kitchen table. I will find items in our pantry rearranged and stacked oddly. He is a builder. I thought this would be a perfect first "game" for him. I read all of the Schylling reviews and decided to pay extra (about $10 more) for this set to avoid the chipping problem that the reviews mentioned. My husband played with this for a few hours after my son opened this on Christmas morning. There are already chips on this set too. I guess this is to be expected of a wooden toy that falls frequently. I am glad that this is made in Europe and has non toxic finish. With the Schylling robots there is not as much certainty for me that it is of the same high quality non toxic finish. Thank you for providing a safer option. I would definitely have given this five stars if we had experienced no chipping at all. We purchased two sets and it is much more challenging to have 18 robots to stack instead of 9. We can also play a race game with two people to see who can stack their 9 the quickest or the most precarious way. Would buy again and will recommend to others.

My little one is almost a year old and this is still one of his favorites! He's teething and the different keys are great for him to gnaw on. This is one of the few toys he plays with repeatedly. I like it because it is a great teething toy, but it goes one step further with the music. The volume isn't too loud and the music button is easy to push.

The buttons are easy for a six month old to push. My daughter really likes it.

It's a great toy for babies. My 6 month old likes them a lot. The only con is that the base of the keys is very heavy, so it makes it hard for him to pick up and plus with it falls it hits hard. He likes the music, and loves to chew on the keys, so I think it's just a matter of time as he gets better at picking things up before this is a favorite.

Honest reviews on Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Nursery Rhyme Keys

My daughter received this as a gift when she was 3 months old. It STILL is her favorite toy and she is 12 months! She loves the songsshe likes to dance to them and now she is starting to try to sing them! She has been very rough with itthrowing it A LOT and somehow it still works. I am amazed that the battery life has not worn out yet too!

Alnico Science Magnets Kit; no. DO-731009

This is a great set -it comes with two horseshoe magnets, a bar magnet, a vial of iron slubs and a vial of iron filings. The magnets are durable -despite being dropped on tile floors and outside on the concrete. Recommended for anybody.

We use it with two magnet books:

1) What Makes a Magnet? (Let's Read and Find Out)

2) Magnets (All Aboard Science)

It's perfect for a summer homeschool science unit or just fooling around.

MAGNETS ARE REAL -they are not for kids who might eat them.

I wanted a magnet kit for some simple science experiments for my 7-year old daughter.

This kit had everything I was looking for: 2 horseshoe magnets, 1 bar magnet, a tube of iron filings and a tube of (very) tiny steel pieces.

The magnets are small but strong. A booklet of magnet related experiments would have been a big plus. Overall, a decent value for money.

Best Deals for Alnico Science Magnets Kit; no. DO-731009

I bought this kit for my 8-year old boy science project focused on magnetism. The kit comes with nice magnets and good iron filings to visualize magnetic field. My son and his friends played with it for a while but got bored shortly thereafter. Great kit for educational purposes and (somewhat limited) fun.

Honest reviews on Alnico Science Magnets Kit; no. DO-731009

I purchased this for a science fair project my first grader is working on. Like other reviewers, I agree that the quality of the magnets is good, and the magnets are durable. The kit comes with a two inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a one-inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a two inch bar magnet, and also a tube of iron filings, as well as a tube of very tiny steel pieces.

I also agree that a basic book on magnets would have been very helpful. I purchased several titles to give my daughter basic information on magnets, presented in an interesting manner:

What Magnets Can Do (Rookie Read-About Science)

What Makes a Magnet? (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2)

Janice VanCleave's Magnets: Mind-boggling Experiments You Can Turn Into Science Fair Projects contains simple to slightly more complex experiments

Educational Insights Estimation Station Review

Educational Insights Estimation Station
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

This is lightweight and plastic, which makes sense for the price. The "Estimation Station" and turning knob on the front are actually on a sticker. My kids are delighted with our big fancy upgrade from a big glass jar, and the scoop enhances the function of the estimation station by increasing the number sense aspect for students.

I ordered this to teach estimation with my second graders. It was perfect. They get it and they love doing it because whatever I fill it with, they get to have one when we are done. Small, easy to fill and fun way to practice estimation for any age.

Best Deals for Educational Insights Estimation Station

This kit includes an Estimation Station which has the station with a lid and cup. You pour whatever you want in the box and it makes it an easier way for kids to make educated guesses. I admit I am always amazed at how people can make guesses on those jars of candy and other items. I am always way off! With this, I am trying to work on our guesses and teaching my kids with it. I would have never thought it was something I should think about but I am amazed at what you can learn from it. I am working on how big things (like marshmallows) take up a lot of room but count for a little and then there are items like jellybeans that you can fit a whole lot of. My boys thought it was so funny how we added things and worked on counting with them.

The top does come off so you can store the items or carry them along, there is a lid too that attaches to keep the items contained. It also makes it easy to clean it. This is great for both parents to work with or teachers.

My son loves this toy! We bought it for him for his first birthday, and now at 16 months this is one of the few toys that still holds his interest. Great colors, and I love that even though it causes a little noise, it doesn't require $10 worth of batteries a week, or sing annoying repetative songs, just good old fashioned cause and effect! Its also extremely durable, and the balls are made out of a hard plastic. A plus when you have a ball obsessed dog :)

The balls are bright and heavy duty. It would be great for a smaller baby to teach cause and effect. Some times the key gets stuck and you have to jiggle it a little but other than that it works perfectly!

I saw all the great reviews about the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse and wondered if we could paint the greenhouse, as our family loves craft projects too. I stumbled upon the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse with the Paint set. Wow! What fun.

We planted the seeds in the soil pellets as instructed. We then painted the greenhouse and in a few days the plants sprouted!

It wasn't long before the second set of leaves formed and guess what the leaves folded up like magic when we tickle them. They also opened back up shortly after. So now we had a gardening, craft and sort of a science project all in one. Highly recommended!

Ryan's Room Puzzles Classic Puzzle
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

Nobody has reviewed this puzzle yet, so I thought I would stop by and give it infinite thumbs up. Full disclosure, though: We don't actually own this puzzle. However, the kiddie room at our local library has it, and it is *awesome.* Our 18-month-old makes a beeline to the puzzle every time we visit the library. In fact, I think she views it as the library's main attraction.

I asked the librarians how long they had had this puzzle. Nobody could tell me for sure, but everyone agreed that it had been at least a few years. The library copy still looks fantastic. The colors are bright; the paints are not chipped or dulled; none of the pieces are bent or broken or splintered; and none of the knobs are loose or missing. Since this puzzle gets beat-up, played-with, thrown, gnawed on, dropped, and used as a weapon by dozens of toddlers, several hours a day, six days a week, fifty weeks a year I'm going to go ahead and say that the quality is excellent.

We have other Ryan's Room puzzles, and I could not be more pleased with them. I did a lot (a lot!) of comparison shopping, and we have puzzles from a few other brands. The Ryan's Room Small World puzzles knock the others out of the park in terms of quality of manufacture and interest for a young toddler.

I hesitated before I got the first Ryan's Room Small World puzzle, since the drawings seemed kind of goofy to me, and the puzzles for other brands looked more cool and stylish. For a toddler, though, the bright, primary colors and not-too-stylized drawings are just the ticket.

The puzzle is plywood and the knobs are plastic. I assume it is made in China like other Ryan's Room puzzles, but I am not 100% sure.

We bought this to add to my 9-year-old son's Snap Circuits Jr. set. Wow, we thought the first set was fun but with this added kit it got even better! He can do this all on his own and has so much fun making things. So far his favorites have been the AM radio and the radio announcer. This keeps him entertained for hours. Although this kit is new he has had snap circuits for six months and he is still playing with them regularly. This is a GREAT toy for a kid interested in building or science. I LOVE THIS TOY!

Best Deals for Elenco Snap Circuits UC-30 Upgrade Kit SC-100 to SC-300

An add-on to the 11 yr olds set. She has fun doing all the projects. She figures them out and assembles them on her own. The one con: it doesn't explain the HOW and WHY it works.

Honest reviews on Elenco Snap Circuits UC-30 Upgrade Kit SC-100 to SC-300

My seven year old son loved the Snap Circuit Jr that he received for Christmas; completed all the electronic experiments in just about 2 months. So it made sense to purchase the UC-30 Upgrade Kit SC-100 to SC-300 and see where his love of electronics would take him. He makes his own experiments now and still plays with both sets every few days. I worried that the pieces would break easily, but that seems to have been an unfounded concern. The storage trays make it easy to keep all the pieces together, although the cardboard boxes are really beat up. Next purchase: hard plastic carrying case.

I purchased this archaeology kit for my daughter, who teaches fourth grade, and my grandsons, who are seven and nine years old. They loved it. It was educational, fun, and the boys loved helping Mom carefully excavate the inside of the pyramid. i was very happy with this excavation kit. although it created a bit of dust, i was able to do it in my living room on some newspaper with little clean up. the pyramid is clay with hardened sand inside. the artifacts are ceramic. 4 canopic jars, a sarcophagus containing a real-looking mummy with a death mask! this kit is good for kids 8 and older, i would even recommend this kit for adults, i'm 25 and i had alot of fun with it and the pyramid and the artifacts make great decorations for my Egypt themed living room! it was defiantly worth the price!

The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body Reviews

The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

My kids (all 3 of them) had a great time with this kit. They love the magic school bus books and show. This kit made the book come alive for them. They had so much fun. The huge poster and sticks were really interesting and the experiments kept their attention for hours (not the easiest thing to do with three boys especially at their ages, 6-11 years old!!!!). I would defiantly recommend this product for your own children or as gifts (that is what I am doing this year. I have a pair of nieces that will love this kit!!!).

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I purchased this to use with my homeschooled 6-year-old. She absolutely loved it and it really helped solidify what we were learning about in books. She liked charting her process on the huge poster cart and excitedly shared the results of the experiments with everyone. It has easy to follow directions and everything actually works! You could probably round up the materials in this kit for less money but the convenience of having everything in one place and the kid-friendly directions make this a keeper!!

Best Deals for The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body

I bought this for my homeschooled 5 year-old. He really enjoyed working through the experiments, and he particularly loves the life-size poster that still hangs on his wall. My concern is that the experiments didn't always work well, and sometimes didn't really illustrate the principle that was being taught. For example, the model diaphragm required a sheet of rubber to be taped over a cut soda bottle... that was extremely finicky to get airtight, and I barely got it to work. My son certainly couldn't do it himself. Also, the poster comes with stickers of body parts which are supposed to correspond to the experiments, but they don't. I hate to quibble, since the poster was his favorite part of the kit; it's just the kind of inconsistency that caused me to see this as more of a toy than an educational resource.

Honest reviews on The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body

I bought this for my son's friend who turned six this summer. He has always shown a strong interest in the human body and after much research this seemed like a super age-appropriate gift to encourage his love of the body. He has loved it. His parents called me to tell me thank you and asked where I got it so they could get him more of the kits from the Magic School Bus series. I bought the one of space for my son and he (and I) have equally loved it and learned a lot. I bought this gift almost 6 months ago and when I was at their house about 3 weeks ago, I noticed he had his poster of the human body (which was a lot larger than I expected it to be) hung up on his wall across from his bed. I would highly recommend this (and any Magic School Bus kit) for any budding young scientists.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body

I know from experience that boxed science kits often look more interesting in the package than in reality. I was hoping this wasn't the case with the Frizz since we love her so much. But unfortunately this was the case here too.

Good.

The huge (life size for my 6 yo dd!) body poster is pretty cool. It looks like something that will last for a while (though it did rip when we unfolded it). The body part stickers are pretty neat too. We haven't stuck them on the poster yet though. I'm just afraid that we won't be able to get them lined up exactly with the body part outlines and then my dd will be frustrated. If they were repositionable stickers I would be much less anxious.

The instruction booklet is colorful and features the familiar characters which is nice. In theory, the topics should be interesting.

Bad.

Materials from home might not be readily available. Right off the bat you need chicken bones for experiment one. Not such a great idea for a kid who is excited to get the stuff out of the box and play. You mostly likely have to skip experiment one until you can plan for it. You'll need your own 2 liter bottle too. We don't normally have soda in the house but bought some for the "tornado" tube experiments. So unfortunately we had to cannibalize that experiment for this experiment, which sadly didn't work.

Materials needed from home might not work well. We had to use a cut-up 2 liter bottle for the lungs "experiment". Today's 2 liter bottles probably don't work as well as ones from a few years ago that were thicker and perhaps not made of post-recycled materials. The Pepsi bottle was much too flimsy to hold its shape when a rubber band was wrapped around it. Every time we tried to do the activity it fell apart. Household tape is probably not strong enough for the needs in the kit.

Materials in the kit don't work well. The rubber bands provided in the kit were too small to work on the experiments as described. We had to find our own rubber bands that were bigger. While I appreciated the quality of the construction paper provided, it was much too stiff to use for the joint "experiment". We needed to use our own. The plastic gloves provided are ginormous and even too big for my adult hands, let alone a child's hand. You are supposed to tape construction paper to latex rubber and pull on the rubber. lol. Household tape does not stick well to rubber on its own, let alone while pulling on it. The latex rubber provided was not large enough to fit around the Pepsi bottle without leaks. It should have been larger and a circle shape instead of square. The tubing for the ligament "experiment" was shorter than pictured in the instructions so we had to put it together in a different way and didn't work as well as pictured.

Instructions are not well thought out. You're supposed to attach a balloon to the pop bottle and then turn the balloon inside out. That proved to be a nearly impossible feat. We figured a work around on our own. The instructions sometimes seem to be written in the wrong order at times. They aren't as detailed or as well thought out as you might expect for educational materials. It feels like the people writing the instructions didn't actually test out the activities. A good teacher would have much more clear and detailed instructions.

Instructions are not very detailed. You get reminders to "put this system's stickers" on the poster. However, the experiments don't do a good job of explaining to which system they belong. It would be better if the "experiments" were clearly introduced and presented within organ systems. You have to fill in a lot of blanks yourself as a parent/teacher. Some of the instructions seem like after thoughts just thrown in.

Instructions are formatted as "hypotheses" which is really a misuse of the scientific method in my opinion. These are activities designed to illustrate how things works, not actual experiments which you can observe outcomes. (Well except maybe experiment 1 which you have to skip until you have chicken bones.) All the blank space provided to fill out hypotheses and results would have been much better served with more actual information and facts about the organ system which is presented in a very sketchy way.

The science kit just doesn't live up to the reputation of interesting, clearly organized, factual information provided in the Magic School Bus story books.

This item was shipped unassembled and after a ridiculous number of emails for assembly instructions, it was never able to be assembled properly. It was defective, and when assembled as instructed just kept tipping over and going in circles. The seller refused to replace it or refund my money. It was a total waste of money and a hardship for a little girl.
