These were purchased for my grandson, a preschooler. He loves them and has been working in them. As soon as he saw the sesame street characters he was interested. Very well packaged.

We loved these books. We actually bought them from Family Dollar for $1 a piece (so check there first before ordering on Amazon!) and they far exceeded my expectations for $1 workbooks. They are full color, with all the Sesame Street characters, and have varying skill levels that can grow with your child. We skipped the color one with Ernie because my 3 1/2 year old already had that down. But Elmo and Big Bird were nice little introductions with areas to color and trace, increasing familiarity with letters and numbers.

The Cookie Monster one really shines though. There is little letter "tracing" as it's geared towards phonics not writing, per say, as you go through each letter circling pictures that begin with that letter sound. If it was just that I'd be a little bored with it, but they have great little games speared throughout that are essentially "phonics color by number" or a "phonics tic tac toe". The last 10 pages are the best because they're really hard! It has the child start to identify beginning and ending sounds to words in various games, matching picture to it's first letter or ending letter, and then finally actually writing the beginning and ending letters together on the blank lines under a picture.

It made my 3 1/2 year old feel really capable because she could do the beginning pages all by herself and then I could help her grow and progress as we did the back pages together, learning how to listen for even middle sounds. It was a great workbook. Definitely recommend the set as an inexpensive first introduction to letters and numbers.

I'd recommend that your child be able to ID both upper case and lower case letters before progressing to the Letter Sounds with Cookie Monster book.

I bought these work books thinking they were flash cards. It was my own fault I didn't read the discription. I am keeping the work book cause I know I can use them later for my son. He is only 18 months now so they are a little premature.

My sister gave these cards to us when my daughter was first born. I started to show the cards to her around 11 months (yes they are flimsy) and ended up going to Kinko's and laminating them since she liked to bend them. I have worked with her almost every day on them and she now can recognize and say most of the colors and shapes at 18 months! She loves to pull out her bag and do flashcards together while at home or away. We also have the ABCs cards and she has learned those as well. I say use your judgement if you want to purchase them or not, but as for our family we love them and can't wait to give them to friends!

Got it from this site. Fast shipping . Really like it myself and enjoy seeing how much my two year old daughter has fun with it! Had it out for kids at my daughter's birthday party, and everyone wanted to play with it, step on it. Wish it had light up colorfully keys, but even so still good thing to have to help kids to get all the sillies out. My 3 year old loves Caillou so I thought this would be a great gift for her for Christmas. She really does enjoy it and the price was excellent. However, it isn't something she can really do on her own, which is fine, but the game says this is appropriate for 2-6 year old and I think its more suited for 4 and up, but nonetheless, my 3 year old still enjoys it. I would buy it again.

It's just the right level of complexity, but for a starter solder kit, it's too tiny. The distances between connectors are as little as 1mm, leaving absolutely no room for error which is fine for someone experienced with soldering, but not so much for the novice. The fact that no extra parts are provided compounds the problem. If the same kit was scaled up in size, with greater distances between the connectors, it would have been much more novice-friendly.

My son and I worked on this, plugged in a fresh battery, and no lights are blinking. We have no idea why. We have no idea how to figure it out. Hopefully, this failure will not discourage him from future projects.

This product was used to teach young kids ages 8-13 the basics of soldering and providing a basic understanding of electronics. Some of these kids had already passed their ham radio exam and hold a Technician Class Amateur Radio license. To have a simple project that works when finished helped aid in the overall success.

No idea why this is categorized as a "toy"... nonetheless, this charger works great and does both AA's and AAA's. I'm using rechargeable batteries everywhere I can now since the price of the batteries is reasonable, each charge lasts FAR FAR longer than a regular Alkaline disposable battery and I don't have to worry about properly disposing of the Alkaline batteries. Just make sure you get good batteries, I've had good luck with the Eneloops and HiTech AA and AAA batteries.

I wanted a magnet kit for some simple science experiments for my 7-year old daughter.

This kit had everything I was looking for: 2 horseshoe magnets, 1 bar magnet, a tube of iron filings and a tube of (very) tiny steel pieces.

The magnets are small but strong. A booklet of magnet related experiments would have been a big plus. Overall, a decent value for money.

I purchased this for a science fair project my first grader is working on. Like other reviewers, I agree that the quality of the magnets is good, and the magnets are durable. The kit comes with a two inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a one-inch horseshoe-shaped magnet, a two inch bar magnet, and also a tube of iron filings, as well as a tube of very tiny steel pieces.

Cheap LeapFrog® Explorer Smart Globe

I'm not one for electronic toys, normally. But this globe is terrific. The second day after she received it, my 6-year-old had learned all the continents and oceans, and could find each of them within two or three seconds after the globe called them out. She's working on countries now. Her first-grade class had to make a collection of 100 items of their choice. She chose to collect 100 country names, which she patiently copied from the globe while listening to music snippets and basic facts about each one. Last month, we read that geologists believe India was once a seperate island, which eventually crashed into mainland Asia. I asked her what mountain range was made during that crash, and she barely paused before answering the Himilayas.

But the best part is when the kids go to bed. Then I get to challenge my wife to Eureka, to see who can find the most countries, cities and continents as they are called out randomly by the globe. She always wins. But I'm improving, and one of these days....

My only complaint (like many of the other reviewers) is that the globe started malfunctioning after several months. In our case, the sensors must have shifted inside the globe so that instead of giving you information for the country you select, it tells you about its neighbor 2 inches to the left. But the company will replace the globe for free. I just had to ship it back to them (at my own cost, but no big deal). Many people complain about the stylus failing, but a replacement stylus is pretty cheap. If you play with it as much as we do, you can't expect it to last forever, can you?

Leap Frog toys are the best!! I bought this as a Christmas gift for my five year old twins. I thought it might be too advanced for them, but they had been asking me about oceans and continents, so I thought we'd give it a go. What a great toy! We have gotten many times our money's worth from this purchase. They have spent countless hours playing and learning with this toy. Every time we get in the car, the globe goes with us (a little cumbersome for a travel toy, but it's their favorite). I'm embarrassed to say I need to spend a little time with the globe to catch up with them! We recently purchased the Turbo-Twist Math another favorite. Next is the Turbo Twist Spelling...

He has even found mistakes on the flat map at school(countries that have changed names recently).I would definitely recommend this toy for any grade-schooler. The Eureka game is the best! He has learned so many different countries and can usually find more than me in the time alotted. They are learning and don't even know it. I bought this for my daughter when we home schooled. We loved it but after a couple of months of use the pen stopped working. You point the pen at the country/state etc. and the computer tells you facts about that area. So its critical to have the pen working! We looked the item up online and they said to mail the pen into them and we did so without ever hearing back from them. It has been months now. I read someone else's review with a different problem and they mailed the item back and haven't heard from the company. That is VERY disappointing as this item is fairly pricey and once it doesn't work its just a regular globe. Good luck!

I have NO IDEA why a couple of the reviews were so low. Bad batteries is hardly a reason to trash this globe. It is great and has lasted almost a year now. It has been an easy way to end some family debates about sizes and population. It has many interesting facts built in that easily turn a 5 minute "look" into a 30 minute discussion. My only fripe with products like this is the "music" sampling. A country's national anthem "theme music" doesn't help learn music history.

I have purchased several learning placemats from Amazon and this manufacturer is my favorite. The placemats are bright, creative and a hard, but flexible plastic. They make meal time clean-up a snap, even for a messy toddler. I also feel good buying a product made in the USA, a rare bonus in these days.

This is a glossy and well made placemat which clearly has letters and animals on it for reviewing with a young child. The picture is accurate. Unfortunately, I am a little bit unhappy with it, because it is much too large to fit on my 3 year old's high chair tray. Yes, she is still in a high chair. It's an FP aquarium one. In any event, this is probably fine for floor play or if your child eats at a dining room table, but I wish this were smaller. I should have looked at the dimensions more closely. Also, fwiw, my 3 year old has no interest in it. Maybe in retrospect, I should have tried to get an alphabet learner with Dora or unicorns or some other gimmick on it.

This project was a lot of fun to put together and fairly easy. It took me 1 or 2 hours to put together and worked the first time I powered it up.

The only thing that I wish they would have done with this kit is to have four different color LED's like the original Simon game had. But overall, the game plays pretty much the same and is fun.

My son is almost 3 years old and we've been searching for an educational toy that he would actually enjoy, would still want to play with after the first couple days, and that wouldn't get beat-up easily by a toddler. This is it! He loves the toy, and I have to admit that I even enjoy playing with it a little. The sounds and music are not annoying at all, the illustrations are great, and I love the many different ways the toy can help teach your child their abc's, numbers, and even animals. I especially like the music page it allows your child to record what they play and it will play it back to them so they can hear what they created. Wow! I got this on sale for less than $10 and it's the best toy we've ever purchased for our son.

I would highly recommend this toy for all preschoolers. It is a useful tool for kids 3+ and up. My daughter plays with this toy for hours. It helps her with her alphabets and numbers. It also helps her identify different animals.

I purchased this interative learning book, for my 3 yr old son. He loves using it, especially the music part of it. I notice it helps if you use this book, to interact with them, by showing them how to use it and to teach from. Its a great interactive, learning book for a child 3+, because any younger than that, the child may wreck it more than using it, by roughplaying with it. I soon realized this with my son. I was unable to introduce him to books early than 3 yrs old, especially this one, cause he would pull out or tear the pages in books! I had bought this book, for $ on Amazon.com, awhile back. I would not recommend anyone buying this book, if it is more than that. You can find many other learning good books, toys, cards, etc that will do the same job, even better for the total of that price.

All of the games progress in two stages. My girls really like decorating cakes with Hello Kitty in Cake Time, it teaches colors, shapes and also goes into memorization, by remembering what all the guests want to eat.

HK the Magician is great with teaching numbers and basic addition. Then you also drag and stack buckets smallest to largest or in matching colors.

Dance to the Music teaches children about different musical instruments and what family they belong to. Next, it stresses following directions by moving HK to do different dance moves.

In the creativity side, you get to make a HK greeting card and can save your work, as well as taking your picture with her and decorating it, and also 'dressing up' with her bow, etc.

It's quite fun for both of my girls 3 and 6, the animation is great! More of a game than learning for an older child, a little lacking for my older daughter, but she likes the appeal of Hello Kitty. I would put more of a THREE-6 age range on the game. I do think it is a good buy here on Amazon, since their prices are usually better than stores, but I would really recommend it for younger girls more, and I would buy it again. I looked through it before giving it to my daughter and was worried that she wouldn't like it. The games could have been developed a lot more to be more enjoyable and I was very disappointed that it did not include the other Sanrio characters like My Melody and Keroppi. It was pretty boring.

Some specifics:

The cake game should have had a free play option to just decorate the cake.

The greeting card designer should have been more free in the options. For instance, the red and white card only allows options for Christmas cards. All of the decoration options should be available for each card.

After giving it to my daughter she asked not to have to play it anymore and we took it back to the store. :( Very disappointing.
