I liked this product in so many ways. It was a gift, but I discovered that the dinosaur claw was a casting and it was chipped to boot. Everything else is real; so this gets 4 stars. The 5th start was not given because the casted claw was not mentioned and I only found that out after it was given as a gift.
Still this is a nice set of specimens especially for fossil hunters and dinosaur enthusiasts.

Reviews of VTech - V.Smile - Winnie The Pooh: Honey Hunt
My grandmother gave my four-year-old daughter this game for Christmas. It quickly displaced Lion King as my daughter's favorite v-smiles game (and the favorite of my wife and I as well). Featuring Winnie the Pooh and all the other characters from this Disney classic, the game is both fun and educational.
Basically, Pooh wants to hold a party for his friends but is out of honey. So the game's mission (in adventure mode) is to find jars of honey. Along the way, kids learn counting, the alphabet, and some basic spelling. There's also some secret levels to discover -albeit not so secret that a four-year-old cannot find them.
Overall, one of v-smiles best games, in terms of both fun and educational value.

Although we've gotten more game play time from Alphabet Park Adventure (included w/ the V-Smile) and The Lion King, Winnie-the-Pooh is one that the kids (2 & 4) keep going back to. Cute, fun, age-appropriate, it really helps work on those joystick skills while giving a sense of accomplishment (you can play the activities as a series and accumulate "hunny pots"). Unlike the dull Care Bears this is one early childhood game that is fun for adults to watch (and to play, if the kids will let you :-)Best Deals for VTech - V.Smile - Winnie The Pooh: Honey Hunt
My son plays this game all the time and he loves it! It starts out with simple, easy games, such as collecting the alphabet in order and numbers in order. It then transfers to colors and I think it teaches them really well. It also always repeats the item you collect (pink balloon, the game says, "Pink"). It also gets more difficult as it goes on. I find it great for young ones (2.5 up to probably kindergarten or 1st grade). There are more difficult portions that test hand/eye coordination (the jump rope). I think it's a fabulous game...on of the best...with beloved characters and great games. My son (4 years) LOVES to play it! It has helped with his colors, letters, numbers and hand/eye coordination in many ways! I highly recommend it to anyone with a child who loves to learn and play between 2 and 6 years old.Honest reviews on VTech - V.Smile - Winnie The Pooh: Honey Hunt
I bought this for my daughter's 4th birthday. She loves it--it's a game she is able to do, and learning that is at her level. Some of the other games even when they say 3-6 years, etc--it is sometimes too difficult for her. Even my 5 year old son loves it--he especially loves helping his little sister figure out problems.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for VTech - V.Smile - Winnie The Pooh: Honey Hunt
No preschooler can resist this game. It is fun, educational, best of all it has Winnie the Pooh. There are two modes of play. You can play the short easy games like memorie or you can play the learning adventure game where Pooh goes through different environments collecting honey. This game keeps my 3 year old interested for hours. He can play all of the short learning games by himself but he still needs help with the adventure game. The adventure game is a little complicated but fun for an adult, too, so I don't mind helping him through the hard obsticles. Every kid with a V-Tech Smiles should have this game.Thursday, November 6, 2014
Best Kid's Drop-Proof IPad Protective Case with Handles (for iPad 2 Deals
My daughter loves this case. It works well and has a lot of protection if my little girl would drop it. My daughter has Down Syndrome and is deaf in her left ear. The way the sound is brought to the front is really good for her. I've never seen another case that projected the sound so well.

Gund Fun Color Counting is Fun Dino 8" Plush Review
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It's soft and green, it rattles, and it's a dinosaur, a toy which even an infant can safely lie and play with because Gund makes it durable.
But this is a "teaching" toy: press the "start" note and it counts, lighting up as it goes, which will probably thrill even the smallest kid.
My take: a stuffed toy should be a "lovey", and not electronic. Parents and siblings teach babies to count to ten on their fingers and toes. That human interaction is essential, and children shouldn't be expecting electronics' stimulation every minute. Also, the sing-song counting will be very annoying to parents, very quickly.
It's no surprise that Gund has moved in this direction, since everyone wants to ensure their kids are ready for standardized tests at an early age. But, like many toys we've gotten and given over the years, this one is best played with as a stuffed toy, with the switch "off" or batteries removed.
My 18 month old and 4 year old weren't very interested.
I think it would be a great tool for teaching young children to begin counting. I don't know how well it will hold up since the materials seem a bit flimsy, but so far, so good.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program A cute 9 inch long dinosaur the does one thing when you press its button. It says "Hello, do you like to count. I do too" with a somewhat annoying voice, then it counts to 10. As it counts to ten it lights up the five spikes on its back one at a time (1 through 5), then turns them off one at a time (6 through 10). Then it roars and laughs. In the background it plays the tune to Ten Little Indians. That's it.My 18 month old and 4 year old weren't very interested.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is a really cute dinosaur stuffed animal, an enhanced stuffed animal which counts and sings--just one song. I imagine this could become a beloved comfort animal to a toddler, but I would hope it wouldn't since it can only be surface cleaned to keep it functional. No stuffed animal can endure extended child love and stay any level of clean. On the other hand, losing the song and lights wouldn't be a big devastation since they don't do much and "teach" something a kid will master soon enough. However, as a cuddly stuffed animal, it will be a hit with the right child. Bright colors, happy face, it's a charming toy.Honest reviews on Gund Fun Color Counting is Fun Dino 8" Plush
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program My neice's 1 year old loves this dino. As soon as he saw it in the box he grabbed it to hug. (He is not generally into toys, so that was a great start.) He laughes when the Dino says "Roar" after counting to 10 and started saying "roar" along with it. The fins that light up with each number are a great idea. I had been afraid that the velcro holding the "voice box" might not be strong enough, but that has not been a problem at all. A GREAT gift for the toddler who is just starting to talk and has not learned how to count yet.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Gund Fun Color Counting is Fun Dino 8" Plush
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I originally got this for my grand daughter, but she's a bit young for it so my wife has introduced it to her preschool class and they love it. The bright, alternating lights are great for helping her students get into a rhyming process for counting, and some of the kids have taken to just carrying it around because of its "snuggle ness".I think it would be a great tool for teaching young children to begin counting. I don't know how well it will hold up since the materials seem a bit flimsy, but so far, so good.

Reviews of VTech - Write And Learn Touch Tablet
First, I taught PreK through 3rd grade for 10 years prior to being a mom... with that said: DO NOT BUY THIS TOY if you want your child to learn good writing habits! Seriously, please read this before you consider buying it!
I mistakenly bought this for my own 2-3year old son without thoroughly checking out its full features. Although he really does like it, it's going back! The positibve benefits do not outweigh the negatives in terms of educational/instructional value.
PROS:
-encourages tracing with a pen stylus or finger touch on the screen
-includes a three sided, triangular pen, which is helpful to help start a correct early pen/pencil grasp
-easy to see screen, step by step instructions to form shapes, lower case and upper case letters (NOTE: SEE CONS BELOW regarding odd letter formation directions and modeling!)
-does engage my son (he keeps it in the bathroom as a special potty toy while he's busy "working", never gets old, will cry when it's gone)
-so far durable over several months of use and some accidental drops on hard tile floor and grabbing it by the stylus string
-has a free draw feature & a "make the picture dance/wiggle/jump" feature that moves your creation up and down a bit after drawing
--continuously positive praise for all attempts of writing/scribbling/drawing
-encourages shape and letter identification, plus beginning words that start with the corresponding letter
CONS:
-terrible letter formation modeling (make two lines down, then connect them in the middle to make a capital M!? NO way! Just one example. Several more!)
-child will have to unlearn bad habits and relearn properly when faced with school instruction, no matter what printing method is taught--every teacher from every district I've talked about this with agrees!
-loud volume, even when adjusted to lowest setting
-includes shapes, upper & lower case letters, no numbers (do they need to keep it separate to make more $ and force you to buy a different game toy?!)
-no tracking or way to self check w/ only positive praise (my son can color the entire screen dark and it says "great job!")
-absolutely no correlation connecting the lower case letters with the upper case letters, even though they are the same button, the two functions are entirely different and do not come together to help build this matchup for young learners.
Not recommended. Still looking for a better substitute! Do let me know if you happen to know of one, please. Thanks!!
Pros:
* It has both capital and lower case letters
* The writing surface is easy to use and accurate
* It tell my son he has done a great job when he actually traces the letter correctly. If he does a poor job on the letter and hits the check to say his is done, it asks him to retry tracing the letter.
* It seems durable and has already taken a tumble out of the van door into a puddle. It is working fine.
* It has a shape tracing and free draw activity. There is also a hiding letter game which is good.
* you can turn down the volume.
Cons: Just a few...
* I wish that it started in the capital letter activity instead of requiring the child to select it.
* I wish that they had the same device but added a number activity to it
* The little pen is a bit thick for my son
* I wish that it did not say "see ya" when it was turned off. My son has started saying that which is annoying and he keeps turning it on and off just to hear the "see ya." It really is not the game's fault he knows how to push my buttons ;) However, I do not like slang so I would have preferred something like "I'll see you later" or "until next time"
By the way rated in durability 4 stars because i've had it for two days only so we'll see but if you've had or have any vtech toys you know that are long lasting!

My son is 3 1/2. He has no attention span and likes things that involve running, jumping, etc. It is difficult to get him to do anything that involves little physical movement. However, he seems to like this toy. We have had it about a 3 days and this is my take on it.Pros:

Best Deals for VTech - Write And Learn Touch Tablet
I purchased the leap frog letter learning tablet before purchasing this one and was very disappointed. This letter tablet is far superior. The leap frog tablet uses a series of lights under the screen that light up and the child traces the dots, leaving a irregular pattern on many letters. In my opinion this teaches the child to make the shape of the letter wrong. This vtech tablet has the letters shaped correctly, so the child learns to write the letter correctly. This one fact was so important that I got rid of the leap frog and gave my daughter the vtech for Christmas. She loves it, spends so much time learning her letters. There are some child game systems out there that offer letter tracing as a part of the system, but I found this a better option for my daughter because I wanted her to focus on the letter writing and not be distracted by the other games.Honest reviews on VTech - Write And Learn Touch Tablet
i just bought this yesterday at walmart and my son 2 1/2 loves it he quickly learned to trace the letters he just recently learned most of his alphabet so he gets excited that he recognizes them and holds his attention for a long time, which is very hard at this age another idea to add are tracing workbooks or free printables online.I will say i was already going to buy the leapfrog version but saw this one and saw no reviews so i went to walmart to try both of them out im so glad i did this one is far better in my opinion, sometimes its better to try at store and specially if its approved from your loved one :). Remember if your son/daughter are not interested wait a couple months and he/she will surprise you and start using it, speak for everything in general I know how hard we as parents want our children to learn but they know when they are ready.By the way rated in durability 4 stars because i've had it for two days only so we'll see but if you've had or have any vtech toys you know that are long lasting!

My son played with this at his cousins house and seemed to really like it. His aunt highly recommended it as her girls loved it. So we bought it and my 3 year old and 5 year old use it a lot. I'd say 3 years is about the age for this toy. I find it above average in the educational department as well, it really is very good at teaching him how to write his letters. There are quite a few different play modes, but we have only used one. It's very well constructed and should last a long time.Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Motor runs well on 1.5V D Cell , but instructions specify 4-6 VDC. Note the photo in Amazon is totally wrong than properly constructed view. The brushes pictured at each end are backwards, you flip them to a narrow opening to come in contact with commutator. The motor also came with two magnets on each pole, not three as pictured. The two magnets per pole provide a good enough magnetic field, even though it leaves a larger than normal gap from armature. Would be interesting to see it run with three on each side.

Love that this is a wooden toy. Get tired of the heaps of plastic in the toy bin. My son is 13mos old and doesn't understand the puzzle exactly yet but he can load and unload the animals as he pleases. He also has figured out how to get the animals to fit in the driver seats and loads Melissa and Doug up in the back. Overall I really like it a lot. We will be playing with this one for a long time.Tuesday, October 7, 2014

You can program the toy to say "That's the first letter of your name!" when they click on the corresponding letter. Cute!
Here are the instructions from the website to personalize the toy:
1. Turn off the toy
2. Hold down the "L" and "M" buttons simultaneously while turning the toy back on.
3. Follow the audio to enter the first letter of your child's name.
In any event, I see no decline in my son's interest in this toy and consider it one of the staples of his (considerable) collection of learning toys.

My son received Lettersaurus as a gift many months ago. He loves the toy now as much as he did when he first opened it. He certainly has his favorite songs but, generally, he tends to listen to nearly every song available (of which there are 27). What is most remarkable is that he continues to return to this toy time and time again. I must say that I am a bit puzzled by some of the critical comments. Surely, touching the top if the head does invoke the ABC song. I assume this is by design since the Lettersaurus's crown is a button, and, yes, pressing it does invoke content. As for the "Exit" for X comment, perhaps this parent isn't familiar with the teaching of phonics. Exit is one of several words that precisely express the sound of the letter X. A cursory search of your friendly internet would make this clear if you hadn't already learned this on your own. I guess you can teach the children but who is going to teach the parents? In any event, I see no decline in my son's interest in this toy and consider it one of the staples of his (considerable) collection of learning toys.

This is a great toy that will engage and entertain your kid, while teaching phonics the RIGHT way.. my son stays engaged with it and like to play and listen to all the sounds and songs. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something with great educational content for your kids!Honest reviews on LeapFrog Lettersaurus
This toy is pretty great. My son loves it although it's not his favorite toy. I was reading reviews on amazon as well as the Leap Frog website and had to write a review addressing everyone complaining about the X saying "exit." As a kindergarten teacher in CA, I have to say, THAT is how you teach phonics. They are teaching the letter sound, not letter recognition! If it were to say, "Xylophone" it would be incorrectly teaching the child that X says the "Z" sound. Talk about confusing! They could have used X ray, but the choice of "Exit" for X is not incorrect. In fact, our reading curriculum uses "Exit" to teach the kids the X sound. We sing it every morning! Anyway, if I had any complaints at all, it would be the small letter and button size and the "U" sound added to certain sounds... For example L says, "LLL" not "LU." Although as a parent, I just correct the 2-3 letters that add the "U" sound when my son hits that button. Not a big deal at all! In fact, I always tell my students, "you don't say, "Lu-ove!" :) This toy is fun!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog Lettersaurus

Best First Grade LeapPad Book: Amazing Bible Stories Deals
My 4 year old son loves this book. He has 8 books for his Leap Pad, and this is his favorite. We take this book with his Leap Pad to church, plug in his head phones, and he is entertained (and learning!) through the whole service. The colorful illustrations have many embedded sounds and my son spends hours putting his pen on all the pictures to hear their captions and songs. There are 7 Old Testament Bible stories that are kid favorites, including David & Goliath and Noah's Ark. At the end of the book, there is a fun "Wheel of Fortune" type game that asks kids to match the people from the various stories with events (don't forget there is also a game on each page). And most importantly, the stories themselves are Biblically accurate. If you child is learning Bible stores for the first time or already knows them well, s/he will thoroughly enjoy this book.

It has great games on each page teaching them the true false concept, asking questions like: "Is it true that Jonah wanted to go to Ninevah? Yes or no?" The Adventures of Penrose the Mathematical Cat Reviews
When I showed this book to my seven-year-old math monster, he wouldn't let me stop reading it. I read most of the book to him over about 3 hours, with discussions and figuring out some of the little puzzles at the end. Then, first thing this morning he stuffed the book back in my hands. I'm sure my voice will feel better tomorrow, and the things I learned will last a lot longer. He wouldn't let me stop reading enough to play the games that used paper and scissors until I had read everything. He's doing them now. Maybe when my throat recovers I'll tell him I also bought another book by this author.
This book is an excellent way for mathphobic adults to explore math with their children and learn right along with them!

This book is a good resource for teachers! It is full of fun, interesting, and relatively simple activities that make abstract mathematical concepts come to life. Math is made less intimidating, because the mystery behind it is revealed by a curious cat with whom children can relate. The book takes mathematical concepts that might otherwise be too complex for children to grasp and simplifies them, making them more "kid friendly." Younger children, who are more likely to enjoy the cat's stories, may not fully appreciate the mathematical content. They will, however, benefit from the books pleasant introduction to mathematical concepts. Similarly, older children, who are more likely to fully appreciate the mathematical content, may not enjoy Penrose as much (or at least they might not admit that they do). However, learning with Penrose will still make the experience less intimidating. The book is clever and a great tool for teaching math, while easing and/or preventing math phobia. I will definitely use this book in my own classroom!Honest reviews on The Adventures of Penrose the Mathematical Cat

The book takes concepts that might otherwise be hard to grasp in their complexity and simplifies them, making them more "kid friendly." Learning from and with a cat, who is just as curious as they are, also helps make things less intimidating for children who are slightly math phobic. I will definitely be using this book in my own classroom!Sunday, September 7, 2014

I recently ordered this book for my son who is 4. With the leap pad books your child can learn the basics and phonics and soon be reading on their own. In just a few weeks he has learned to sound out letters and a few words in the book. Of course, Scooby will keep your interest over and over again. This is a great beginning for your pre-schooler. Also check out the other leap pad products available for all age groups.

My Kindergartener loves this book more than any other in his Leap Pad Library. Santa brought it this year and he loves it. I love it because it encourages more Leap pad play because it is a character he loves.Best Deals for First Grade LeapPad Book: Scooby-Doo and the Disappearing Donuts
My daughter, who is 3 1/2, is now able to visually recognize the word "donuts" on a page, thanks to this book! Of course, now she wants to eat donuts all the time! Be careful with the books though the pages can tear fairly easily. We've already taped one up!Honest reviews on First Grade LeapPad Book: Scooby-Doo and the Disappearing Donuts
My 4 year old loves this book. Every page has a hidden paw print and you really have to search for it. The games on every page is fun too. This book is made for 4 yr old kids.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for First Grade LeapPad Book: Scooby-Doo and the Disappearing Donuts
I read the other reviews before buying this book and was actually a little disappointed. It was the first Leap pad book we bought and was expecting more activities. I found the book short, it is just the story. My Daughter does enjoy the story and finding the missing paw prints.
