Hello Kitty 11pcs Stationery Value Pack Reviews
I needed a cute, practical gift for a 5 year old girl who is starting kindergarten this year. I found this online and it was exactly what I needed. The price was just right, and I liked that it was something she could actually use instead of a toy.My daughter loved all the items that were included in this Hello Kitty stationary set. She played for hours with this set!

Best Basic Geodes Science Kit; Ages 6-12; no. DCSGEO6 Deals
My grandson is an excellent student and he has an inquisitive mind. When he comes over he always wants to do something unique and have fun while learning. It is a tradition we started when he was very young. When Dr. Cool asked if I would review this Basic Geode Kit I was excited to have my grandson try it out on one of his next visits. You get six geodes, safety glasses, and activity book and an adventure guide.
My grandson actually enjoyed the books a lot but the real fun came when he got to smash the geodes. We did get a very unique geode in the kit and you can see it in the attached video. We couldn't bring ourselves to smash it and I think you will see why when you see it in the video.
Overall my grandson had a great time with this kit and he liked it a lot as a learning tool and just downright fun. It is a great activity to spend time with your children while they have fun and learn at the same time. We all had a good time watching him use this kit and breaking the geodes. You should have seen him chasing a larger round one trying to break it.
We recommend this to you as a very good educational tool and one that your children will enjoy.
I received a sample product for evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.
We've purchased geodes for cracking in the past and had fun opening them up. They were single geodes from a museum or mining attraction and came just as they were, a round rock.
Dr. Cool's Basic Geodes Science Kit takes that a few steps further. You get 6 geodes (and no one can tell what is inside until they are broken open), safety glasses a solid pair that stays on, and nicely designed printed materials describing how to crack open the geode and additional activities.
The geodes were a big hit with my 8 year old who, as is evident in the video, was able to crack them open on her own. She was thrilled with how they looked and has them proudly displayed in her room.
When you buy rough geodes, you have to understand that they are small, uncut, unpolished and not dyed. Many geodes you see on display at stores are cut, dyed, and polished so they look a lot different. My daughter was thrilled with what she got but an adult may be expecting more.
*** We just did some experiments with food dye and the geodes. The dye (although probably not as good as a natural dye or cloth dye) did add color to the rocks! It permeated the outer shell more so than the crystals but it gave some great variations and added excitement when looking at them.***
The activity is nice in that the element of surprise is great and you get to keep the broken geodes for display and study. An added benefit was that some of the geodes (exteriors) glowed under the black light we had from our Glow Rocks Science Kit.
Dr. Cool provided a complimentary kit for evaluation and an unbiased review.

Out of the pile of toys he got for Christmas, this was the first thing my 5yo wanted to open. We were out front by 8AM with a hammer and goggles breaking them open. He loved it! He hasn't really touched him since though so I'm not sure how much lasting power these have.Best Deals for Basic Geodes Science Kit; Ages 6-12; no. DCSGEO6

They are hard to open...we used a hammer...and scored around the rock then split them.. some opened in half,, some in pieces. They are still out on the coffee table so people can still check them out!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Basic Geodes Science Kit; Ages 6-12; no. DCSGEO6
We got this for my 4 year old son for Christmas. He was so excited! We had to crack the crystals for him. He loves them, but we were a little disappointed that they were all the same kind and color. Only one of them was really hollow with crystals the others were more solid with crystals.Thursday, November 20, 2014

was looking for a way to share the Elf on the Shelf story with a preschooler. this book is perfect for the shorter attention spans of the littler ones, giving them a way to participate in the story as it is being read to them.Best Deals for Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story Sound Book
I thought this would tell the whole Elf story just in a children's version or with music...it's very very short and kind of indirect. My kids liked it, but it won't really be much use next year as they will want the "bigger" version. They are almost 3 and 4.Honest reviews on Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story Sound Book

List Price: $12.99

Awful! Loud, chaotic, no real educational value, and worst of all not a flash light! Our baby discovered our flashlight and loves it, but he likes to shine it in his eyes and our real flashlight is too bright for that. We wanted a flashlight with a gentler light and more baby friendly form. This VTech flashlight absolutely did not deliver. First, it is not a flashlight, in that you press a button or switch and the light goes on. Instead, there are 3 numbered buttons and one ladybug button. When you hit any of these these buttons, the light flashes randomly (but does not stay on), and a riot of crazy beeps, chimes, and voices goes off. We had it on the quiet setting and even so, it drove us crazy just testing it. You cannot get the light to go on without the noises. It's also super confusingly designed. You'd think the ladybug, being on the handle and ergonomically where your thumb would be, would turn the light as long as its depressed, but no, it just brings on another seizure-inducing round of flashes and shrill noises. This was an immediate return.

I bought this for my 1 year old's birthday. She loves anything that lights up and plays music. The handle is easy to grip for little hands and the ring that changes the color of the light is easy for little ones to turn. It also has features that teach counting and different animals. It is a very cute idea for a toy that will be played with for a long time. I am sure my oldest will be playing with it too.Best Deals for VTech Spin and Learn Color Flashlight

PlanToys Shape and Sort Reviews
I really like that this shape sorter is made out of all natural rubber wood and focuses on 3 key shapes about which all children must learn relatively early. The design of the quick-release floor (blue) to drop the shapes to the ground is clever and is easy for a baby/young toddler to master.
My nearly 1-year old took to the toy right away. In fact, he's been so diligent putting the shapes into the spaces that he figured out how to fit the triangle into the square opening! It doesn't require much effort. Just hold the triangle upright (vertically) and angle it. It doesn't just fit into the space partially. You can drop it right in there.
This design and/or production flaw is extremely disconcerting, as naturally, now that my son sees the triangle can go into the square space, he doesn't always put the triangle into the triangle opening. Sometimes he uses the square opening. I wrote to Plan Toys about this problem and received a prompt response from a customer service rep, but she said she had to forward my comments to a group in Thailand and that I might not receive an answer to my specific complaint for up to a month. She offered to send me another toy of equal or lesser value, which is very nice, but I don't like the other shape sorters the company makes as much as this one. UPDATE ON 01-22=10: Still no word from the Plan Toys development group about the flaw in the toy.
In addition to the triangle issue, the wood on top of our shape sorter (where the openings are for the shapes) has started to split in two places and I had to remove the toy from my child's play area so that he doesn't get a splinter. Admittedly, my son bangs on the wood with the shapes pretty hard, but shouldn't that be expected?
There is great potential for this product. It just needs to be redesigned a bit.
It is a heavy toy so him carrying it around and flinging it has become kind of destructive, but that is how much he likes ithe carries it around.
The one thing that keeps me from giving this sorter a perfect rating is that after some gnawing and mouthing of the blocks the color has become faded in areas. However, this still wouldn't keep me from buying the Shape and Sort again.

My 13 month old took to this right away and probably 80% of the fun of this toy is being able to release the shapes on his own. He loves the springy leverthe secondary action of the toy. As a sorter it is kind of useless since BOTH the cylinder and the triangle fit through the square hole. Despite that he has figured it all out and can do it correctly. And he loves stuffing other things in the holes and springing them out with the lever as well.It is a heavy toy so him carrying it around and flinging it has become kind of destructive, but that is how much he likes ithe carries it around.

This sorter is simply beautiful and my little one loves it! The whole thing is made out of solid wood and the edges are very smooth. The push-down mechanism to get the blocks out is simple and cleverly designed. We began playing with it at around nine months and we still enjoy it at fifteen months. The one thing that keeps me from giving this sorter a perfect rating is that after some gnawing and mouthing of the blocks the color has become faded in areas. However, this still wouldn't keep me from buying the Shape and Sort again.

This is the best shape sorter. I have a three year old and a 16 month old and we have been through the gambit of shape sorters. This one holds my 16 months old attention and once he gets them in he can dump them back out all on his own without getting frustrated that the blocks won't come out. I would recommend this for anyone. Even I can't help but play with it when I am picking up the toys.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for PlanToys Shape and Sort

First off being able to purchase as a 10 pack, really brings the cost down. I really like these small breadboards, I use them to make a module / building block that has a specific purpose, then I can combine them into a larger project.

It does what we need it to, but the hinge is poorly designed. Rather than hold open the mouth at a jaunty angle, as in the picture, the parallelogram collapses and the top teeth flop over to the side.
You can balance it ok for display (or a catalog photo) but for sure don't let anyone touch it!
Also hinge popped out day one. This is the perfect item for teaching dental health in my classroom. Nice and big and the kids love it!

Best Math In A Flash - Addition Card Set; no. EP-2430 Deals
Color coding make it easy to make a pack of facts for your child to memorize. Already hole punched and ready to go. I do it with my kids, but I think as they get older it will be something they do on their own and they can self check. I will definitely be buying the subtraction ones at some point.

I ordered these blocks for my 7 month old grandson. They are a perfect size for him to grasp in his hands right now. Blocks this size for a baby are a great toy for hand/eye coordination and for learning to grasp larger items. This is important for their gross motor skills to develop. It will eventually develop into them being able to stack them and build with them, but for now it's just for learning coordination. I also ordered another set of similar blocks so when he is old enough to actually PLAY and BUILD with blocks, he will have a large enough set to do so. The blocks are a good quality and the color doesn't seem to run should he put them up to his mouth to try to suck on them! The edges are all smooth and I don't see any splintering of the wood. I would definitely recommend these blocks to anyone.Honest reviews on Wood Counting Cubes; 1" Square; 6 Assorted Colors; 102 Per Pack;

We bought this for our daughter's 2nd birthday. I am new to Amazon and love the fast shipping that's free with the Mom account so I figured I'd go with Amazon over BRU for the item. I'm glad we did since we had to send back the first bike. The frame was damaged on the inside which we noticed after it was all put together. The return was very easy which was great, we had a new one two days later.
Installation is very easy and takes about 30 minutes, it comes with everything in the package. With both bikes, the front 'light' was dinged with the paint and even though we wanted a perfect one it wasn't worth sending it back when both had the same ding.
The actual scooter is adorable although the seat is kind of a cheaper material, but still nice. The pink color is very cute.
We also purchased a bell and the Bell Fraction helmet from Amazon in pink to go with her new scooter. We hope our daughter will love this!
She tells me she likes the bike (as she spotted me typing the review), but her actions don't show it well. I think she'll start liking it more this year when the novelty wears off the trike (she can now pedal and steer herself on it so she will be wanting 2 wheels soon... I hope.)
Even if the original recipient never digs it, we have another little girl now that might end up enjoying it in a few years, so the investment will hopefully not be lost.
For reference, our daughter was 36" at the time of purchase, she's about 2-3" taller now. She was able to ride it on mostly tip toes at first (more width than height), now it fits her better (meaning she looks more comfortable while attempting it), and it's still on the lowest setting.
Update 7/2013 My daughter is now 5-1/2 and has graduated to a new pedal bike with 16" wheels. It was really easy to transition too from this balance bike. All it took was a few laps around the cup-de-sac with me holding the back of her shirt while she learned to pedal. There seems to be a little bit of new balance required to learn when going slow on a bike that the steering can turn fully. This balance bike only allows a limited perhaps 30 degree Left and 30 degree Right turning. Your kids will need to learn to pedal and balance but it shouldn't be that hard for them to accomplish because they will have learned the fundamentals of balance very well with these.
The seat is attached and adjusted in height via two pins that hold the seat posts in place. This seat post in more like a saddle shape than a single central post. One side of my daughters seat post broke and I had to repair it. The seat posts are made from a single piece of perhaps 3/8" thick plywood that is bent into an upside down U shape. One side had bent and broken in half. I used wood glue and pieces of shipping packing paper that sometimes comes with my Amazon shipments. I reinforced the broken area with a paper machete type of patch. It worked great. The seat is still fine today after over a year of riding on the patch.
We are really attached to these bikes and I guess I will have to make sure they go to a special new home. I hope the new owners get as much fun and enjoyment out of them as we did!

We got this for our daughter's 2nd birthday when she began showing interest in bikes, unfortunately just weeks before I had snagged a tricycle from a friend for her as well. She enjoyed the ease of being pushed on the trike better than having to push herself on this. She really loved it when we pushed her around on it, but most attempts do it herself resulted in her crying for us to push her (to be fair, she's not too big on the whole "do it yourself" thing if she thinks she could get hurt). She tells me she likes the bike (as she spotted me typing the review), but her actions don't show it well. This bike is now my daughters favorite thing to do as soon as she gets outside. It did take a little while to move from the tricycle to this. So it may take a few days but if you persist it will quickly become a favorite and now she just glides along. It is a little heaver than a simple frame balance bike but not to much and I've had to carry it up hills a few times. But the quality is superb, the tires are solid and the wood frame seems very durable. I do keep it inside though so I'm not sure how it would hold up to weather, but surviving a 3 year old is a solid test in my book!Honest reviews on Prince Lionheart Whirl Balance Scooter
I purchased the boys version for my son a while back and he loves it! I had to get this for my 3 year old daughter after she tried a bike with training wheels and did not like it. She took a couple of weeks to really get good on it, but now she can really go. It's so neat to see my 3 and 2 year olds showing great balance and loving riding these balance bikes. I would never suggest training wheels to anyone after seeing how natural these bikes work to teach balance and bike handling. Seems to be well made. It even survived a scuffle with my trucks front tire. Stronger than you might think. I do make an effort to keep them inside and not to let them get wet!Update 7/2013 My daughter is now 5-1/2 and has graduated to a new pedal bike with 16" wheels. Cheap Advanced Fossil Collection
I bought this (out of pocket) for my students to experience the nature of fossils. They examine them under dissecting scopes. Everything needed is there key to the fossils, geologic time table, nice plastic tray to separate them from each other, the box they came in is nice, too.
The specimens are on the small side, but are recognizable.
I'm happy with it.
