Don't expect a fancy keyboard with solid parts and great sound. That's not what you buy this for. You buy this as a cheap toy for your toddler to bang on until they get bored with it. We've had it for about 1 1/2 months, and it hasn't broken so far. The different instrument sounds aren't realistic. The animal sounds aren't realistic. The music it plays is okay--be aware one of the songs is a Christmas song. But for a toddler it's fun. That's all that matters. And it's cheap. Zoe turns it on and smacks it. No broken keys yet. The end.

This is a great toy that combines quality parent/child time with science and learning. It comes with several great ideas that go far beyond simple growing projects. My 4 year old loves it, and especially loves getting the one-on-one time when we do the experiments!

My only complaint is that I was expecting the kit to come with a (small) bag of dirt. Probably a silly thing to assume, since I'm sure that would add weight, but since I don't have easy access to dirt, it was something extra I had to go buy before we could start doing many of the experiments.

I received this to help facilite a review on my blog. The Primary Science Plant & Grow Set has just about everything you need to start growing plants. We just added the soil, seeds, water, and sunlight. My son and I went shopping for seeds. We looked through the activity cards for some ideas before we left. He really wanted to do vegetables so he picked out cucumbers. We also got some flower seeds and Oregano.

After planting Jayden checked on them a few times asking if they were growing. He noticed right away that the observation jar has condensation on the inside. He is excited to watch them grow. While we were planting he asked lots of questions like, "do plants grow at night with no sun?", "how long before they are big?", and so on.

Within about a day or two small sprouts began to grow. This set has so many fun learning opportunities. I really like that the activity cards give lots of great growing activities like from a pineapple, radishes, and more. The cards also provide step by step instructions. My son was able to get the materials needed for each activity because the card shows a picture. The observation jar and the rooting tray are both clear and make it easier to see the roots as they grow. There is so much to learn in this set from parts of a plant, to the life cycle of a plant. And once the plants begin to grow you can start to measure them and get a little math involved. I think my only complaint would be that the trowel is pretty small and it doesn't scoop much.

As a homeschool mom, I am thankful for Learning Resources. They provide products that make homeschool science easy for children. I really like this set from Learning Resources. The size is perfect for my 5 year old, the only item that is very small for her is the trowel but she didn't seem to mind one bit. This is made with sturdy plastic and very colorful. When we opened the box my daughter and 1 year old son were both very excited to see this child sized set. I appreciate the variety of projects that can done with this set. We have tried the first activity card and loved it. You will need to purchase items to complete the activity cards. I had popcorn kernels already for this first project, thankfully. With this first activity my daughter can learn about how sunshine and water can cause the kernels to sprout. Next, we can plant the sprouted kernel in the pot and watch it grow! So fun! There are also 3 more activity cards available to downloadnofollow from the Learning Resources website! I highly recommend this set for your Kindergarten age child.

My 18-m old daughter is not a puzzle-kind of girl. While some of her friends can solve simple shape puzzles, she just is not there yet. This peg puzzle is fun and pretty much open ended, so she has fun putting them together without being "correct".

The puzzle is durable and good quality. The blocks seem to be dyed rather than painted, so no chipping paint off of this one. The pegs are very sturdy and no nails or screws visible. It's made in Thailand, and the quality is far better than Chinese counterparts.

The stacking clown is extremely well made. It is solid wood throughout and larger than I thought. I purchased this for my 3-year old daughter and while it does not have flashing lights that immediately commanded her attention, I believe that she will come to appreicate it. The concept is to make different facial expressions and the shapes can be stacked in different ways. After the disappointment of battery operated toys from Disney not working on Christmas morning along with the ridiculous packaging, this toy is a breath of fresh air.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Got this toy for my 6-year-old granddaughter. As another reviewer said, the picture on the box shows a lot more than you get, although the description of the contents of the box is accurate.

The child loved the toy, but I would not suggest assembly anywhere but the kitchen table, as it is very messy. Some of the little toys would not go on the bases once in the globe maker, but we found if we laid the bases flat on the table and pushed the toys in first, then put them in the globe maker it was easier to assemble.

Filling the big dome with the bottle was a real mess, and I wound up taking it to the sink and filling it. The spinner for the little domes was useless, and we just held them closed with our hands while we shook them. I think this is more practical for a child anyway since their fine motor coordination in their hands and fingers isn't always well developed at the optimum ages to play with this toy, which I agree with another reviewer, is about 6 to 8 years old.

I didn't find anything on the box that gave the appropriate age group for this toy, but the ad on Amazon says not for children under 3, which I heartily agree with. There are far too many tiny and pretty parts that kids might put in their mouths And it says for children 5 to 15. I would be surprised if a 15-year-old would want to play with it.

Children don't seem to mind the messiness of this toy at all, but I would caution against letting them assemble it in their rooms unless the floor and assembly area is waterproof. Some supervision and assistance with assembly of the toy wouldn't hurt, in my opinion.

Overall, it's a cute toy with lots of pretty colors sure to delight the young ones as it did my granddaughter.

I bought this, along with another starter pack, for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loved it and made all the globes right away. I needed to help her make the first few, but after that she could do it alone. It can be a little messy, but it is only water and cleans up quickly. The display unit makes a carousel and four mini-globes, but there is space for more so plan to buy another set or two if you don't want it to look empty. Only criticism is the four display spots in back are up on little sticks, but the set came with two sticks instead of four, and they do not fit snuggly in the base. It's fine for now as she doesn't have enough to fill all the spaces, but if she continues to collect them she'll notice soon enough.

Immediately, you have to understand -as most are apt to do -the box is the idealistic notion of what this toy is. The box is Plato, the toy is Aristotle. However, this does not mean the tangible toy is any less fun than the real, i.e. on the box, toy. It just means there is less realized.

The toys are easy to understand, with no learning curve. The mess is minimal if you have children who can do these things by themselves. My 4 year old made less of a mess with these than she does brushing her teeth. And, don't worry about the tiny parts if you fall within the age group.

A great, easy, and fun toy even if the supply of toys is limited.

My son .. who is what I loving refer to as a vidiot (addicted to video games) will not put this game down. He has forsaken his DS and the Xbox for his L-max. He has had it for about 3 weeks now and the new has not worn off. Letters on the Loose is absolutely WONDERFUL for teaching the alphabet .. writing (upper and lowercase) and sounds.

I would advise every parent to purchase this for the sake of a child's education. It's a great tool disguised as a toy. KUDOS!!

Maybe I didn't pay attention when I bought this thing, but it requires a 9-volt battery (the kind you usually find in smoke detectors) and that was not included in the package. Also, the spinning made some annoying sounds after a few days but that wasn't anything you can't fix with some kind of lubricant and 5 seconds of your time.

I really like this thing, and I don't see any reason why you wouldn't buy this item here on Amazon if you are already considering buying one.

I would like to add that this might not be so much of a toy since you can't really play with it, just observe it. It 's the kind of thing you want sitting on a shelf or something and that's pretty much it.

I bought this "toy" because it looked interesting. It is more than it is downright addictive. At first, the motion was haphazard, but I tinkered with the support arms to bring it into alignment and it now works perfectly. The shuttle continues to rotate once with each swing of the outer circle. It was a little noisy, but a little Vaseline on the rotating pieces solved that. I am so glad I bought it. The grandkids love it.

I actually used this with my students today and it was SO much fun. My highschoolers, although they laughed as I ran around trying to get it to fill up, were mesmerized as it began to float! It was great to talk about the density of different air masses based on temperature in my Earth Science class, and I will likely pull it out in Chemistry too... in order to be light enough to float they had to make it out of REALLY REALLY thin plastic sheeting, so beware that it can get a tear REALLY easily, but we only had one tear and I just tied the spot where it happened and it looks pretty decent now.

Quite impressed. I teach high school physics and while my students most certainly had their doubts about how fun it could be to play with a giant trash bag, once the bag inflated and began to lift, we were all very impressed. It was about 45 degrees out side and mostly sunny. As soon as we went outside there was light cloud cover, but the solar bag still worked great.

Incredibly thin plastic. I hope to reuse it a few times, but don't expect too much in terms of durability.

Pull this out on a nice sunny December morning. My young scientist helped me unroll the 50' bag. I tied one end and filled with air from the open end with a box fan. This quickly speed the inserting air process. I tied and tetered the end that was open. My 6 year old and 4 year old twins were happily amazed as they saw it start to float up into the air. They nickname their solar ballon "Long John". The watched and played with it for a couple of hours until it crashed into a tree and tore. Since it is so long I was able to cut out 10 to 15 foot sections to make a mini "Long John". Everyone was happy again until one of my twins let the teter go and we watched mini "Long John" sail into the clear blue sky. I have demanded that we get another one. Great unique fun for a sunny day.

You gotta try this thing. My kids loved it. I loved it. Then it flew into an ocatillo cactus and was destroyed. You can cut this into smaller sections to make more than one. Comes with some very lightweight string. I'm going to combine this with one of the reel-type kite reelers so I can bring it in fast if necessary.... not that you would need to, unless like me, you've got cacti all over the place.

As the photos above show, my twenty-somethings had a blast for a good hour or more. Got a lot of stares from passer-bys. However, my order total a few months ago for TWO bags came to $31.75 (with shipping). Now, ONE bag costs $29.83 (with shipping). Not a good value, but I'm still going to buy one more because I have a nephew who is really hard to buy for. (As a gift, this would be better with warm weather birthdays, etc.)

Update: August 8, 2012. Will be impressed with the company if they contact me and offer to return half of my $29.83 now that the price has 'suddenly' dropped to $15.

Best Little Tikes Dirt Diggers 2-in-1 Dump Truck Deals

My 2yo son got this for Christmas and it's already made it to a storage box. The back part that can also be used as a bucket comes off with just the slightist pressue. So, if he wants to use it as a truck and he tries to push it along, the back falls right off. If he wants to pick it up by the handle (what you should typically be able to do), it comes apart with NO force. What makes it worse is that the back panel that opens to unload the dirt also flaps open with no effort. So even if he just used the back part as a bucket, he couldn't fill it with anything because the end opens up with the first scoop of sand. What a piece of junk.

The back bucket comes off and becomes a sand toy, which is neat, but that's about all this is good for, because unfortunately, the back bucket comes off at the SLIGHTEST touch, so you can't use it as a truck! All it does is frustrate my son, who makes me put it back together every 10 seconds.

The bucket is designed to be removable, but I can't even touch the truck without it falling off. I'm constantly having to put it back on when my son plays with it. I'm was so impressed by the cover (yes, I'm an HP NUT) I had to have this one.

The good news: I learned a LOT about making movies and I'm an adult! (yes, I'm admitting I play with the Quantum Pad, too, ok? :)

The bad news: Daniel Radcliffe only plays a small part in this book. There is no behind the scenes info on either of the HP movies or Danny.

However if you're buying it because as usual Leapfrog has done an excellent job of making some pretty dreary movie facts fun and exciting to learn, then by all means, Hop To IT!

This is a fun little book for your child to use with their LeapPad. There is a sound effects keyboard and other fun tools for your kids to play with. And the Harry Potter theme makes it all that much more inviting.

If you want something that's fun, and keeps your childs interest in their LeapPad high, then you should buy this. If you are focused mostly on the educational value of your LeapPad, then look at the other books that are available.

This track was purchased for the Science Olympiad MagLev event.

The packaging was very poor; there was no styrofoam or anything and one corner of the extrusion was slightly bent. This did not seem to affect the straightness of the track.

The track is made of two aluminum extrusions bolted together with a nylon (non-conductive) spacer. This allows both sides of the track to be electrified, however this feature was not tested. The track is in 2 halves, which are joined by two rods that fit into both sides. This works, but is prone to misallignment. My team scraped this and used an external apparatus to keep the tracks straight. Provided are two magnetic strips and a few rolls of 3M double sided foam adhesive. This works, however it is hard to get the magnet evenly spaced from the track wall.

I would recommend this, as anyone buying it should have the technical knowledge to overcome any design flaws.
