Cheap Hohner Kids Musical Toys S363 Maraca
I bought this for our library story time, since my son had broken one of theirs while we were there. The librarian loved that they were all plastic, and durable. The kids, after we put them in the instrument box, fought over them because they made a great sound.

Reviews of Boikido Wooden Percussion Table
I adore this little percussion table, it definitely has the cute factor and my 14-month old loves to play with it (as well as his 3 year old brother). The only issue we have it that it does tip over easily if any weight is put on the table on either side of the cymbal. I am afraid he will climb on top and topple over, so I can't leave this out when I am not watching closely. I would love to see the manufacturer substitute 2 legs spread out on the back side instead of only 1 in the middle. Otherwise, it is a very nice toy and totally worth the price!
It is definitely tipsy, apparently because of a design compromise to make it lightweight and easier to ship. But after a few hours of sporadically satisfactory play he figured out that it's just not for standing on: you have to sit down to play with it. The way I see it, the table helped him to actually reason something out. I'm not sure the tippiness is a net negative.
Regarding the drum skin's proneness to damage, we've had the table for 8 months now and the skin's still in very good condition. There are a few small concavities from vigorous pounding, but it sounds brand new. I did work with him several times to hold the drumstick properly, which probably helped.
My biggest complaint is that the xylophone sounds flat. You can still play a fun chiming tune on it, but it definitely doesn't ring out, especially in comparison with the high-volume cymbal and drum. I'd buy it again, partly because I just think it's fun.

My baby loves this percussion table! It also required very little assembly (yay!) and doesn't take up too much room (double yay!) The only problem with it is that it is a bit unstable and she pulls it over on herself very easily. Therefore, I don't plan to let her play with this without me right there.Best Deals for Boikido Wooden Percussion Table
I first saw this toy in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Christmas catalogue. When I went to buy it from them they were no longer selling it. I should have realized that this was a bad sign. But I thought is was so cute, and my daughter, who was going to be 16 months by Christmas, is fascinated by music. I should have paid more attention to the reviews. The table is indeed cute. What is not cute is that the xylophone is completely out of tune, and it is difficult to get it to make noise. You have to hit the keys just right. How is a small child supposed to hit the keys just right? The drum and cymbal are better, but the drum is very small, and she gets bored with it very quickly. The table is also a funny height, if she is standing she has to stoop to reach it. And if she sits on something her knees tend to hit it. She is not large for her age, exactly 50th percentile in height. One reason I liked the idea of the table was that it would be too big for her to throw out of her play corral, however it is so light that she can still throw it out, and knock it over, and drop it on her foot, or my foot. She spends more time knocking it over and dropping it than she does playing it. It's really not worth the money.Honest reviews on Boikido Wooden Percussion Table

I bought this stylish combo of drum, cymbal and xylophone on impulse at a local shop. I nearly returned it the next day due to complaints on this site about it tipping over and the potential for kids to destroy the drum skin. But desperate to entertain my bored 10-month-old lad, I tore it open--and with no regrets. It is definitely tipsy, apparently because of a design compromise to make it lightweight and easier to ship. Review of T-Rex Dinosaur Bender
We love the bender dinosaur toy magnets! They provide hours of imaginative play for younger & older children! Truly fun for the entire family!
This is the T-Rex. He is a bright red in color with black tiger striping on him to make him look fierce. Though I think he looks like the cutest T-Rex I have ever seen. His head, arms, legs and tail are all moveable so you can pose him in many different looks. Great fun for the fridge or other magnetic surfaces.
Be careful though if you do repeated bending quickly as with any wire it will snap :(
Packaging for the dino line is also fun. They come in an egg shaped container.

Discount World Prehistoric Illustrated, 38x54
I have 2 dinosaur crazy boys (4 & 6y) and this is perfect on a wall in their playroom. It has little icons for different "aspects" of a creature (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore and also type of creature bird, mammal, reptile, dinosaur etc). The evolution chart goes all the way from Precambrian to modern human, and my kids now can tell me more about australopithicus and neanderthals that I know :) I put it up on the wall close to the floor and put a rug and pillows by it, and boys spend a lot of time trying to find dinosaurs and other creatures and figuring out when they existed and what they ate and they make up games with it.
I was actually trying to find a map with the continents they way they are today, and different places where we have found the fossils, but this one actually has the land mass as it was in some random period of time in earth's history which I wish was different but the kids love it, and are learning something from it, and its an interesting colorful addition to the playroom, so no complaints. And we did get to talk about why the land in the map looks different from the map in their atlas, so maybe its not so bad after all :)

Buy Manhattan Toy Baby Whoozit 6 Inch
My daughter LOVES the Whoozit! She has the female version (pink body instead of blue). This toy has a red heart that makes the "crinkling" noise when you play with it. Because it is red and makes the noise it is my daughter's favorite part of the toy. Since she's teething, she loves to put it into her mouth and chew on it. Unfortunately, she was chewing on it one day in the grocery store when the red heart got lodged in her throat. She was not breathing at all. Luckily, I was right in front of her, noticed it, and immediately pulled out the toy. I just can't help but wonder what might have happened if I had not been standing right there with her when it happened. I've told several of my friends about this and they told me of similar stories they have heard from other people. From now on, I tuck the red heart into the inside of the toy (between the two body sections) so my daughter can't get to it. All the kids who I've seen playing with it seem to love the Whoozit, but the one crinkle piece is a choking hazard.

I love this toy, but more importantly, my baby loves this toy. We got it for her when she was 3 months old, and she has loved it ever since. I proceeded to buy almost every toy in this line because she loves it so much! My daughter, now 10 months, loves to play and chew on the hanging things, and she laughs at the face. It is also very portable, and is small enough to bring anywhere. It can be attached by the loop and velcro to almost anything. An absolute must for any baby!Best Deals for Manhattan Toy Baby Whoozit 6 Inch
I LOVE this toy!!! I received it as a gift before my son was born and it just sort of sat in the pile of baby toys I was accumulating. When he was just over a month old and really beginning to see things, I started pulling out toys to see if any would catch his interest. The Whoozit won out over all of them. He could grab the Whoozits arms even with his tiny hands and he gets older he "discovers" more about the toy and still enjoys playing with it. While the beginning age range is 3 months, don't wait! Our Whoozit is what seemed to draw my son's interest the earliest and it's a great toy to help with naptime and car rides.Honest reviews on Manhattan Toy Baby Whoozit 6 Inch

I'm so bummed because my infant loves this toy, and I lost it. I went to purchase it for him again, and somewhere along the way was directed to a great website that tests products for contaminants. I looked up this product, and found out the red nose contains lead and bromine. The nose is what my son sucked on the most. I rated everything a 5-star because it is fun, education, etc., but the fact that pieces of the product contain carginogens and lead made me rate is overall a 1, and I will not be purchasing this product. Manhattan Toy, PLEASE clean up your product. Here's the website, and just enter the manufacture name when you search for items.Sunday, October 12, 2014
PowerTouch Baby: Cutie Bear's Colors Interactive Book & Cartridge Review
"I know My Numbers" AND "I know My Letters" are the best books of the four out right now for the PT Baby!!! This title is okay, but it does not have all the colors I thought would have been nice for it to have. What about the colors: pink, white, black and gray...they're not in the book! Those colors would have been nice to include too. But, the colors that are in the book, show the child things & objects that are generally that color. So thats cool.
The pages are way stronger than the reg. PT books for the older kids. These pages are coated and are thicker and more durable. Some of the pictures talk and/or make sounds as well.
This book is still nice to have for your PT Baby too. Enjoy!!!

My daughter has four books from this system and enjoys this book very much. She has had it for 10 months (received it when she was 9 months old) and she knows her colors and can identify all the objects. She enjoys finding the objects in each of the pictures. I highly recommend this system! The books are even great on their own.Best Deals for PowerTouch Baby: Cutie Bear's Colors Interactive Book & Cartridge

My 12-month-old daughter received two for Christmas from different family members. We had planned to try and exchange one, since we didn't have any receipts.
She LOVED it. We had to keep it at setting 1, since she got upset when settings 2 and 3 got mad at her for playing "wrong" (very frustrating. As a parent, I HATE that!)
But the first one broke within two weeks. The bottom of the bowl lowers to let the shapes out. It stopped lowering. It was already frustrating to play with, as the toy is a bit top-heavy, so I had to keep it standing as she played. And you have to press the button TWICE to get the bottom to lower, which is frustrating for the child. And for the parent, since *I* had to do everything for her.
We hadn't yet returned the extra one, so since she was so upset her toy wasn't working, we opened it too. Straight out of the box it didn't work!
I gave this two stars because my baby loved it. *I* would only rate it 1 star, personally. If it hadn't broken, I'd give it a 3, because the parent has to basically sit there and make it work, at least for the younger kids. And it makes negative sounds when the child puts the shapes in wrong in the extra settings.

My favorite thing about the Little Tikes Discover Sounds Shape, Sort and Scatter toy is that because of the several different play modes, it captures my son's attention for extended periods. It has a free-play shape sorting mode, that tells my son what shape and color the fish is that he put in it, which teaches him so he can move on to the next level. The second level of the Shape, Sort and Scatter, called "directed shape sorting", where the toy asks my son to insert a specific shape and color and if he gets it right, the flashing green light comes on. It's really nice for him to get that positive feedback, because then he is motivated to keep trying. There's also a "game play mode" where my daughters play with him (since they already know their shapes and colors) to see who will be the first one to find the color and shape the toy asks them for. The thing my kids were most excited about with the toy (in addition to the adorable faces on the shapes!) is the three language options: English, French and Spanish. They really enjoyed checking how to say different words in French and Spanish, and since I know a little of each, I was able to clarify if they were unsure what the word meant.Best Deals for Little Tikes DiscoverSounds Shape, Sort and Scatter
I purchased this for my granddaughters 1st birthday. It is a grow with your child toy and I like that it is in English or Spanish as she is from a bilingual family. Best Rainbow Wrist Ribbons Deals
I purchased these for both a music and movement class and a toddler dance class I taught and the kids loved them! The size was perfect for the children (ages 1-5). Using the rainbow ribbons was a great way to encourage participation, especially from the shyer kids in the music and movement class. The dance class performed with them at our end of the year recital and they looked great on stage. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

I gave this to my 2 1/2 year old son for Christmas and it was an instant hit. He "cooks" with it nearly every night while I make dinner. This is described as being a "felt food" play set, but the items are actually made of microfiber and are much more durable than your average felt foods. There are little Velcro pieces on the backs of some of the food items, helping them to stick as Little One builds a sandwich, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this as a play-food starter set. You won't be disappointed.Honest reviews on Ikea Duktig 15-piece Toy Breakfast Set

Best Pitsco Aluminum Maglev II Magnetic Levitator Track, 8' Length Deals
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $160.00
Sale Price: $149.87
Today's Bonus: 6% Off

This track was purchased for the Science Olympiad MagLev event.
The packaging was very poor; there was no styrofoam or anything and one corner of the extrusion was slightly bent. This did not seem to affect the straightness of the track.
The track is made of two aluminum extrusions bolted together with a nylon (non-conductive) spacer. This allows both sides of the track to be electrified, however this feature was not tested. The track is in 2 halves, which are joined by two rods that fit into both sides. This works, but is prone to misallignment. My team scraped this and used an external apparatus to keep the tracks straight. Provided are two magnetic strips and a few rolls of 3M double sided foam adhesive. This works, however it is hard to get the magnet evenly spaced from the track wall.
I would recommend this, as anyone buying it should have the technical knowledge to overcome any design flaws.

Kings and Queens of England Timeline Poster - A3 Review
While this is a nice family tree of the English monarchy, it is very small and somewhat difficult for me to read. I wish I could have seen it before I purchased it. I am considering having on of the copy shops enlarging it so that I can frame it and display it with my English royalty memorabilia.I bought this for my sister after she saw mine and loved it! It looks great framed on the wall and is a really useful reference tool. The writing is quite small but it has so much information on it. Highly recommended.

I purchased around 5 different digital microscopes over the years for the company i work for. Finally i ran across this one. I did end up purchasing the cover and additional light source (both a must have for this unit. there are some minor issues i did not like on this unit but the things i liked out-way them.
PROS:
1: at 0.5x setting i can put a part about 4 inches from the lense and it will allow me to focus at different depths depending
what i need to shoot.
2: the focus on the eyepieces are nice and clear.
3: once i figured out the lever that you need to pull far out on the left side to close off the left eye piece i got
great shots from the digital camera. (pulling this lever part of the way out only gives you blurry images at best in the digital camera).
4: the head unit can be tilted for angle views. and the height can be adjusted for larger or smaller parts.
CONS:
1: the manual, well is horrible. i was able to setup the unit by going to the web site and review the multiple photos
then assembling them together.
2: the screw mount (plastic) that attaches to the lense and holds the circular led is not threaded correctly. it hangs
literally by a thread. and can strip very easy when switching the lenses.
3: after some use on tilting the microscope the clamps do not hold and will move the arm that holds the head unit.
4: i purchased the Nikon camera attachment because at first the digital camera was shooting horribly bury images. i discovered with no help from the manual that the lever on the left side of the unit has to be pulled a lot farther out. feels like your going to pull it off. when doing this the digital camera shoots excellent. i found that the lever needs to close off the left eye piece before the digital camera is clear.
5: at the default setting the camera comes out bury, the mount that the unit rests on needs to be unscrewed about 1/8 before the digital camera comes into focus with the eye piece. there about 3/4 to 1 inch travel before the mount is totally unscrewed.
CONCLUSION:
it does what we need to use it in Engineering for and plan on purchasing another unit for the Quality Control Department.
The dimmable LED illumination is difficult to control first 80% of the control range nothing happens, then it dims exponentially.

P.S. the book doesnt have audio sounds, just pictures of animals and the sound they make.

This book is super cute! Each page has a different number of baby animals (up to 10). It is also interactive as there are flaps to lift up on each page. My 9 month old enjoys this book, although she tries to pull the flaps off instead of up. She hasn't succeeded yet, but I can see the flap seams are weakening. The pages themselves are very thick, like twice as thick as normal board books. However, the edges of the cover are already scuffed after only a couple days of use, so I imagine this book won't stay looking new for long. I would recommend taking a look at the gift set. When I purchased it, it was only a couple dollars more than the book alone. Lamaze Counting Zoo Gift SetBest Deals for Lamaze Board Book
