Buy VTech - Disney Princess - Magical Learn and Go
My three year old LOVES this; she calls it her computer. She types her name and her older sister's name--I think that the keyboards having the ABCs in order versus the QWERTY is great for little ones who are just learning to identify the letters and their sounds. Having "princess" voices talk to her (versus the older mechanical-sounding voices) is part of the reason this toy is her favorite.

Reviews of Vtech InnoTab 2 Rechargeable Battery Kit
I bought the Inno Tab 2 on an impulse without reviewing it and just assumed I could get something to plug it and charge it..wrong..so I bought these batteries and they last several days before I have to recharge. Regular AA batteries last just a couple hours in this item. So I am so glad to have found this. And the seller was great and shipped quickly.

I ordered these for my 2 boys since they seemed to be going through batteries like crazy! I would have given them a higher score if they would charge correctly! They last pretty good while in use but when I go to charge them the red blinking lights are soposed to stop blinking and turn green when they are done charging....which the instructions says in 8 hours. Well the first time i charged them it did what it was soposed to do but ever since then the red lights never stop blinking.....I even left them plugged in all night once! I don't like that because I worry that they arent charged fully. I have just started considering them charged after 8 hours.Best Deals for Vtech InnoTab 2 Rechargeable Battery Kit

Review of VTech - Kidizoom Digital Camera - Orange
Pros: Easy to grip. Fun colors. Somewhat easy to use
Cons:Terrible pictures. Nonintuitive menus. No datestamp on pictures.
We were reluctant to buy this camera vs. a small Canon (SD100) on ebay for more less the same amount. Our three year old had already proved that she could handle a small Canon (and even a big one) but we decided to go for a camera built for toddlers.
Image quality is as described by other reviewers: super low dynamic range, low resolution, slow shutter, low light sensitivity and very noisy. Pictures come out blurred, motion blurred, burnt or underexposed and people are hard to recognize. Vtech could have significantly improved performance at negligible cost simply by using a CMOS sensor made this century.
Menu navigation is OK but could be made much more intuitive and accessible, specially for toddlers. Even I have to fumble around the menus to find the featurs/settings I need, such as configure memory cards.
One notable point that this camera is lacking is picture review. Anyone who has kids and cameras nows that the most fun a toddler can have is viewing the picture he/she just snapped, and running to his/her friends and showing them. This camera only holds the review for a few seconds (not long enough) and bringing it back up requires pressing about 5 buttons to navigate through the menus to the picture editor. Again, anyone who has kids and cameras should have known that a 'review' button would have been a favorite.
The two-eyed view finder is good for kids as they don't need to learn to close one eye as in a normal camera (no points for learning here). However, the live-view LCD has a considerable refresh lag which makes it hard to frame the shot.
The trigger response is very slow (~1s) making it impossible to shoot anything that moves. I also lacks a half-way point like real cameras (no points for learning here).
Interfacing with a computer is straight forward. Just hook up the USB cable and the camera appears as a removable drive (or two if you have a memory card in it). From there you can copy your images to wherever you want. It does work on Mac OS X (10.5.6 maybe earlier). What is lacking here is that the pictures do not have date information (like any other camera) so when I import the pictures into I photo they all look like they were taken on Jan 1st of 1969. This messes up my iPhoto library and makes it impossible to use date/time as a way to track the photographic progress of our toddler.
Overall it is a descent toy for young kids 4 and under. Older kids will enjoy and have more learning benefits with a small Elph or PowerShot from ebay. I'm giving it two stars because Vtech could have significantly improved value by improving the software interface and picture quality without any additional manufacturing cost.
This camera is one of the best purchases I have ever made for my kids. They fight over using it this includes my 10-year-old boy who is mature enough to handle a "real" camera. My two girls (ages 7 & 5) love using it. The rubber grips make it easy for little ones to hold and truly protect it when it drops. They can plug the camera right into the TV and show everyone their creations. And, when we are traveling, the camera has a few video games that keep the kids busy in the car.
WORTH EVERY PENNY! The only problem they fight over it. So, I'll be buying another one this Christmas so the girls can each have their own.
Except it broke. After about a month for no apparent reason it stopped working. Pretty much first time I changed the batteries it was gone. I tried everything even pressing the nearly invisible reset button on the bottom. Then I called Vtech and they mailed me a new camera.
After they played with it for about a month, well, then it died. So I tried to change the batteries again. To no avail. :( For a product that is supposed to simply be durable our sure hasn't worked for long at all. And I know for certain that it was never dropped in a toilet or gotten wet. It was dropped a couple of times, but generally we tried to take good care of it. I don't understand why it works so inconsistently.
Compared to say, the leapsters which we have dropped several hundred times and they are still running great.
Cons:Terrible pictures. Nonintuitive menus. No datestamp on pictures.

After reading many reviews and testing several digital cameras designed for kids, I finally chose the Vtech Kidizoom Digital Camera. I am extremely pleased with this camera. This camera is very durable and easy to use. My son, who just turned 3, was able to figure out how to use it in about 5 minutes and absolutely loves it. I downloaded about 500 photos the very first day and while he has slowed down a little, I have still downloaded over 2000 and he has nearly a full camera now. The quality is not professional grade, but he has still taken some nice photos. The camera also has Tic-tac-toe, Match, and a puzzle game, which have been very nice on long trips, especially since the camera has volume control. I have also been pleased with the low battery usage. I have only changed the batteries once, which I was pleasantly surprised about given the fact of how much my son uses the camera and the relative clarity of the color LCD screen. The software is easy enough to install and use, but not a big selling point for me. The camera also has the ability to change photos by adding in a Viking's helmet or framing with a winter scene that I have tried just to see how it worked, but my son has shown little interest in this function. My only complaint is that the camera only has a wrist strap and does not have a neck strap for when little hands get tired. Again, overall, I am very pleased with this camera and would recommend to anyone looking for a durable digital camera for a little photographer.Best Deals for VTech - Kidizoom Digital Camera - Orange

My children are 7 and 4. My 7 yo wanted the camera and loves it. It has alot of fun features and was very easy for her to learn how to use. This was well worth the money. My kids have had toys that they play with for just a short amount of time and then lose interest. This is not one of those toys. My daughter has been playing with it for almost a year now and my son wants his own as well. It actually takes some nice pictures and is quite durable.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for VTech - Kidizoom Digital Camera - Orange
Well, I really liked this camera while it was still working. The pictures were kinda blurry, but they were fun for the kids. And my kids, no way are they touching my camera, so it was nice that they could actually take pictures of eachother, play games, and generally be rough on it.Except it broke. For the price I feel like the four base pieces could have been made from solid wood but they are made from some time of particle board material. The material doesn't seem terrible and I expect that it will hold up pretty nicely, but with solid wood there wouldn't even be a question. As pricey as it was I told myself it would be worth it because it would last for multiple children and maybe even for their children. Aside from that, the product is exactly like you would expect from the picture.

I do not believe in hand held games or video games for children. My mother is the one who went against my wishes and purchased this for my daughter Christmas 2008, that's right 2008. Knowing my feeling on this subject my mother came armed with newspaper articles, e-articles, and an educational magazine. Due to my stubbornness it was an entire year before I loaded the software on my computer. With that being said I am glad my mother purchased this for my daughter (age 8) as I never would. Didj is not a hand held game or video game, it is an awesome educational tool. I love it! The Didj includes a feature on its "Leapfrog Connect" in which I can upload her spelling words and choose her math facts and language arts skills by grade and then again by specific skills. In order to continue to the next level she must answer a series of educational questions, this motivates her because she earns micromods. Micromods are equivalent to money/tokens in which she downloads "extras" for each game. For example, she has downloaded a pet for Sonic and a new computer for Nancy Drew and a Karate move for Spongebob. I have purchased another six educational tools; Nancy Drew, Nicktoons, Neopets, Tinkerbell, Super Chicks, High School Musical and a free download from Leapfrog Jet Pack Heroes. I can't seem to say enough about this valuable educational tool. My daughter is studying her math facts and spelling words without me telling her "It's time to study".I got this for my 6-year-old for Christmas she likes it, but my 9-year-old likes it even more. It takes patience, so I don't think it would be good for younger kids.

I did this with my seven year old who is very curious about the way things work. It had very clear instructions and was very informative. It comes with everything needed so I didn't have to purchase any additional supplies. It does take awhile to complete but gives the option of completing one section first and then the rest later. All in all, it's a great product and I recommend.Thursday, November 6, 2014
Reviews of LeapFrog Learning Drum
I picked this little drum up for my grandson and he really loves it. He has a little plastic baseball bat that he bangs on it with and since he's at the age of noise and bangs he has a great time. He enjoys the music and also he likes to listen to the voice talk to him.. It's very durable, he likes to stand on it in the playpen to get a better view. I also like the idea that I can lower the sound and the lights are also intriguing. I'd recommend it highly as I feel he will probably even enjoy it when he gets a little older so he can learn to follow the pattern of beats.

When my 6 month old daughter got this toy for Christmas from her uncle, we really didn't think it looked any different than the other 500 battery operated toys she got.Boy, were we wrong!Skylar looooves this toy. When she hits the drum(banging things seems to be the favorite amusement for most babies this age)each letter from A-Z or numbers 1-10,depending on the setting, show up in red lights and is yelled out by a child's voice, each time it is hit. This teaches her cause and effect, and also, the alphabet and numbers visually and vocally. This toy also has 2 more settings for instrumental sounds,so a child can experience playing their own drum.Cute childrens' voices provide songs and words of encouragement when your little one is drumming away.A really interactive, educational, and entertaining gem of a toy!Honest reviews on LeapFrog Learning Drum

My in-laws got my son this toy for Christmas (he was 7 months old). I never saw it before, but knew leap frog from the pre-school toys. It is the perfect size and he just loves it. I like that it will grow with him, unlike so many toys out there. Right now I put it on the music setting and he likes hitting it and hearing the music. He's discovered that it even works by hitting the sides and bottom of the drum! And another nice feature is that it turns itself off after a minute or so if my son crawls away to play with something else.Thursday, October 30, 2014
Review of Think Box Astronomy Telescope Explorer
I wish this was still around. I brought this a long time ago for random fun, and I want it for my nieces and nephews. It is a simple kit, that anyone can enjoy even young adults. The telescope is good and I still have mine. Comes with a nice colorful booklet, and a good explanation of the stars and how their color system works. Accurate from my basic understanding of astronomy (it's my hobby, what can I say). I hope they return this simple great introduction set.

Cheap Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative
After reading all the glowing reviews on this product, I was somewhat disappointed upon playing it with my son for the first time. First of all, it's not really "cooperative" in the conventional sense. Playing with my son was the equivalent of the two of us playing as one player and just taking turns. Yes, there are separate game pieces for each player, but other than that you have the same goal and same tools to get you out of trouble. There's really no kind of strategic cooperation to speak of.
The bottom line is probably that my 8 yr-old son is too old for the game. The age range is supposedly 6-9. I would say it is better for 4-7. I believe that kids in that age group may find it fun.

This game is fantastic! I play this game with my 2 boys (ages 4 & 6) all the time and they never get tired of this adventure game. We play it in a verity of different ways and work together to make every game a success. One of the best features of this game is it requires cooperation, you can't win unless you work as a team. This feature alone has taught my guys cooperation and at an age when they are becoming very competitive. In addition to encouraging cooperation we have learned logical thinking and planning and a whole bunch about archaeology as I have used the game to lead into real archaeology lessons that they now incorporate into the game. Oh also this game encourages creativity! Buy this game and go on an adventure with your kids and with out the TV or computer! I played this game last night with my 8, 6 and 3.5 year olds. When I saw how involved the directions were, I thought there was no way this game was going to work for us. To my complete surprise, we all had a great time! The game itself is fun, in an Indiana Jones kind of way, but playing also provides an opportunity to teach crucial life skills, like listening to each other's ideas, building consensus, and sometimes sacrificing your turn for the good of the whole group. My pawn got stuck in a cave for a couple of turns because we all decided that it was more prudent to save our remedy cards in case we needed them elsewhere, and sure enough we did. Then all three kids got stuck in the other cave while I discovered the final treasure and took it back to the tent. The nice thing about the game is that you can make it what you want, so I pretended to get reinforcements from the tent and rescue the kids. Then we had high fives all around for completing the mission and getting everybody out safely. The kids loved it, and I loved being able to FINALLY play a game with them without any bickering, crying, and hurt feelings.Honest reviews on Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative
I homeschool my kindergarten age son and I ordered this game to use as one of our "fun time" activities. The educational component is good for a 5 year old as it teaches cooperation and strategy. The game invovles using logic, critical thinking, and planning ahead. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to play, but the directions are clear and once you start playing, it makes perfect sence and was also easy for my 5 year old to understand after I explained it once. He loved it and every time we finished he asked to play again (we played 5 games the first time using). I agree with the age range on the box of age 6 and up. There are a lot of little cardboard cards that you use with the game that could be damaged by a child any younger than that; but the game components should hold up for a long time as long as they are properly taken care of. The length of time it takes my son and I to complete one "game" is about 15 minutes which is great. It can also be played by 1 player which my son was able to do after playing only a few games with me. It's very different than any child's board game I've ever seen and we'll definatly be playing this one alot!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Family Pastimes / Caves & Claws - An Award Winning Co-operative
Cooperative games are wonderful for young children. All the players work as a team to travel the paths on the board to collect artifacts and overcome obstacles to win the game. My 5 year old twins (and my mother and I) love playing this game. Of course everyone wants to have the "stinky sock" remedy card that defeats certain obstacles. You use certain cards to create paths to travel on the board so the game is always different each time you play. I am looking forward to finding more games of team cooperation to play with my family. It is great to work together and win the game as a team with no young children crying because they didn't get to win. It's a very clever game. I only wish the game was more durable. The cards are pretty flimsy and I can see that they may not last over time (or the handling by my 2 year old). I may try to laminate them and see if that helps.Review of Learning Resources Learning Resources AC Adapter for Games
I ordered this because a student in my class broke the power supply for my Time Tracker Tags (the one with the three colors). I didn't know if it was the right power supply for this product since it wasn't specifically listed in the directions. However, I plugged it in, replaced the batteries in the tag, and now have a functioning set of Time Trackers. Thank goodness!

Cheap LeapFrog® Explorer Smart Globe
I'm not one for electronic toys, normally. But this globe is terrific. The second day after she received it, my 6-year-old had learned all the continents and oceans, and could find each of them within two or three seconds after the globe called them out. She's working on countries now. Her first-grade class had to make a collection of 100 items of their choice. She chose to collect 100 country names, which she patiently copied from the globe while listening to music snippets and basic facts about each one. Last month, we read that geologists believe India was once a seperate island, which eventually crashed into mainland Asia. I asked her what mountain range was made during that crash, and she barely paused before answering the Himilayas.
But the best part is when the kids go to bed. Then I get to challenge my wife to Eureka, to see who can find the most countries, cities and continents as they are called out randomly by the globe. She always wins. But I'm improving, and one of these days....
My only complaint (like many of the other reviewers) is that the globe started malfunctioning after several months. In our case, the sensors must have shifted inside the globe so that instead of giving you information for the country you select, it tells you about its neighbor 2 inches to the left. But the company will replace the globe for free. I just had to ship it back to them (at my own cost, but no big deal). Many people complain about the stylus failing, but a replacement stylus is pretty cheap. If you play with it as much as we do, you can't expect it to last forever, can you?

Leap Frog toys are the best!! I bought this as a Christmas gift for my five year old twins. I thought it might be too advanced for them, but they had been asking me about oceans and continents, so I thought we'd give it a go. What a great toy! We have gotten many times our money's worth from this purchase. They have spent countless hours playing and learning with this toy. Every time we get in the car, the globe goes with us (a little cumbersome for a travel toy, but it's their favorite). I'm embarrassed to say I need to spend a little time with the globe to catch up with them! We recently purchased the Turbo-Twist Math another favorite. I bought this for my daughter when we home schooled. We loved it but after a couple of months of use the pen stopped working. You point the pen at the country/state etc. and the computer tells you facts about that area. So its critical to have the pen working! We looked the item up online and they said to mail the pen into them and we did so without ever hearing back from them. It has been months now. I read someone else's review with a different problem and they mailed the item back and haven't heard from the company. That is VERY disappointing as this item is fairly pricey and once it doesn't work its just a regular globe. Good luck!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for LeapFrog® Explorer Smart Globe
I have NO IDEA why a couple of the reviews were so low. Bad batteries is hardly a reason to trash this globe. It is great and has lasted almost a year now. It has been an easy way to end some family debates about sizes and population. It has many interesting facts built in that easily turn a 5 minute "look" into a 30 minute discussion. My only fripe with products like this is the "music" sampling. A country's national anthem "theme music" doesn't help learn music history.Thursday, September 18, 2014

I picked this up on a whim for our daughter for Christmas. It's cute as a button and the box is a nice quality. The animals are super cute and a little funky. The colors are vivid and fun. Our daughter was pleased and added a few other of her items in the box. The product dimensions for this kit are not listed correctly. I'm not sure of the actual size of the box but I'd say it's approximately 9-10 in height and width. The dimensions shown must be for the diary that comes in the box.

My 7 year old loves this journal. It was a Christmas present. She had asked for one of the electronic password journals so I worried that she was going to be disappointed. But, the reviews I read on the electronic ones weren't good, so I we purchased this one. Everything works, the box seems fairly sturdy. The "shelves" are easy to open and close.
