I recently bought this book for my younger sister. She has been struggling in school and these books have been a great help. She loves them so much that our family uses them as an incentive to do better in school. The Smart Guide to Fourth Grade is probably the best book I have seen so far. She had so much fun playing the games like Spelling Stingers that she didn't even realize she was learning. What really amazed me is that after just half an hour with the book my sister was doing fractions! Her teacher hasn't even touched on fractions yet. I know fractions are usually one of the hardest things for children to grasp but she understood it in just a few minutes! The only reason I didn't give the book a five in durability is that the little cartridges that come with the book get lost so easily! I wish leap pad would come out with a storage system for the books and cartridges.

I am not sure that I would buy this model again.

The part don't really stay in place making it hard to view right side up.

The male female parts are not easy to fit in.

I bought it for class lectures and practically have to lay it down and just

show the organ parts one by one to those that can stand around the table.

Not great. I bought the model to give my children a clear understanding of how the organs are positioned in the body. This model just falls to pieces.

I've had to use velcro stickers (needing super glue to stick them on) to keep the pieces in place.

It would have been nice to have had some kind of key or label system to identify the body parts/colours they have used i.e., skin layer, bone, cartilage.

I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

We purchased this kit for our 15 year old son to use in a Science Class. When it arrived, we opened the box and saw all the cheap pieces used to make up the kit.

Poor paint jobs, crushed styrafoam balls, and pipe cleaners?

The instructions on the box are inter-mixed with "facts" about DNA, so you have to read through a bunch of stuff just to try to understand how to put this kit together.

The listing does not disclose that you need a hot glue gun, and a small rod or screwdriver to poke holes in everything.

Very disgusted with the "quality" of this item. Would not recommend to anyone.

I was missing some green balls in my kit and I couldn't get a replacement sent out in time for my project due date. Also, many of the painted pieces were worn out, chipped, and didn't fit together. The pipecleaners lost a lot of their "fuzziness" by the time all of the balls were strung on. I am very disappointed with it and I definitely do not recommend that anyone else try to use this kit.

The metal bar included used to hold up the model is WAY too short. We had to cram it all together to make it fit on the bar. It needs a MUCH longer bar to make it better. Also styrofoam is hard to push the pipe cleaner thru. Had to use the metal bar to make holes.

I bought a leapster for Christmas, and I have the Sponge Bob, the Dora, the Kindergarten, the 1st grade and the cartridge it comes with. Out of all those cartridges the one all my kids like the best is the kindergarten. My 7 year old played it today for almost 2 hours, my 3 year old played it for at least 30 minutes, and even my 5th grader enjoyed it for a whole hour. Of all the games it is the one that is the most like an educational game boy game. You are at a carnival and you are trying to earn tickets to build the funniest monster and to buy cool tunes for it to dance to for the show. You can then make the monster do funny dance moves for the show. Games to earn tickets include a balloon popping game that teaches opposites, a candy making game that teaches sequences/ patterns, a blaster one, and the fun house that is like a game boy where you have to find the letters to spell certain words. You earn red tickets at certain games and blue tickets at other games, then as you buy monster parts it teaches addition. I have to admit even I have enjoyed playing it and think it is the best of all the leapster games out.

My son is newly 5 years old. I first purchased the Leap Pad quite some time ago and it seems, even to this day, he's too young for it or he just gets bored of it quickly. I purchased the Leapster for Christmas and he LOVES it. On his birthday, I gave him the kindergarten software. (He will be going into Kingergarten this coming September). Its his FAVORITE one to date. Its like owning a video game, only EDUCATIONAL. He plays with it CONSTANTLY while learning his letters, numbers and even how to spell small words. I can't rave about it enough.

I have a 4 year old that got this for Christmas. I have been trying to get him interested in alphabet, numbers anything!!! Well, this toy did it! He has spent more time learning than playing with his beloved action figures. I would recommend this item very very highly. Great games, very simple controls and easy to set up. Games have lots of levels that make it a challenge as they grow.

Can't wait for more games to come out.

Santa brought this cartridge, the Leapster and some additional Leapster cartridges for Christmas to our little boy who is almost 4. Each game we have for the leapster my little boy has really liked but he does have his favorites and this is one of them that he will play longer than some of the other cartridges he has. It is full of learning games and the little carnival and little monster you get to build is so cute! You would have to play this game to understand, but it definately is worth every penny! I bought this toy for my friends daughters first birthday and it was at our house for about a week before we gave it to her. In that time my 3 month old daughter fell in love with it as well.

This is a great piano with a lot of different things to explore and play with. There are 5 keys which have a different color, animal and musical instrument represented by each key. It has a drum and sound effects joy stick as well as a karaoke microphone! There is a little dog that moves back in forth to time with the music who is "the leader" of the band.

There are different modes of play with this piano as well. When one mode is chosen you play the keys as its a piano. Another mode allows the name of the color of the key to be said as well as the animal and the type of sound the animal makes. Then another mode plays the style of music represented by the instrument on the key. You have classical, jazz, country and an island type jamaican tune with a few others. The drum counts each pat you make or just acts as a drum. And the sound effects joy stick and karaoke microphone are just too much fun!

My friend said her daughter loves to play with the microphone to sing.

There are lots of lights on here to interest a younger baby. My daughter just loved to listen to the music and watch the lights. I think they should change the reccomended age on this toy to a younger age. Even if your baby cant sit up on her own you can hold this toy with her on your lap and they will like to explore it and look at it. As they get older they will get more interactive.

A fabulous toy at a great price. And the music sounds good too which is a plus!

This is the only electronic toy you need! My 10 month old just got this and she plays w/ it for at least 30 min at a time, a couple times a day. The 3 modes, five piano type keys, 4 directional joy-stick, drum, microphone, guitar playing dog, and 15 LED lights provide a smorgasbord of musical and educational fun.

Counting/Colors/Animals Mode: tap the drum and hear the beats being counted. Press the keys for the color and/or animal name featured on the key and a short tune in the instrument featured on the key.

Listen Mode: each key starts a new classic or nursery song; add animal noises by pressing the keys, drum beats by tapping the drum, puppy noise by pressing pumpy's head, and 4 other funny noises by moving the joy-stick. Swirl the joy-stick to speed up the music and hold it down to slow the music. Sing along using the real microphone.

Play Mode: make your own music using the keys, drum, and joy-stick.

Practicallity: uses easy to find, always on hand AA batteries. Features auto shut-off after inactivity to preserve battery life, but can be switched off to prevent accidental activation, etc. 2 volumes (I think the lowest is loud enough, and could be just a bit quieter, but still, I haven't gotten annoyed yet because of all the variety.)

Bottom Line: This is the most action-packed electronic toy out there and at a very good price too. It is the only one of its kind that you will need, and you do need it.

I purchased this toy for daughter in the exchange of one gift toy. My daughter couldn't stop playing it in the store. So I had to buy it. She enjoys it everyday. She dances on the music. If the music stops, she plays one more key and again the new music starts. Drum is a very good idea. She plays that too. I'm sue she will start counting with that soon. I would recommend this toy to anyone who loves music. This is 100% worth the money. And better than other so called piano's that kids just hit for some time and then get bored because it doesn't play any music by itself.

My daughter, who is 22 months, still loves this toy that we got for her 1st birthday. It drives me nuts though. She pulled on the microphone some and after a while it got so staticky that you could barely hear the music! I exchanged it for another (would have returned it, but didn't keep the receipt) but the same thing happened with the second one. She doesn't even pull the microphone anymore, but it's still a static nightmare. I can hear her bringing it down the hall crackle, crackle, craaaaackle, craaaaaack! This would be a great toy without the mic. Would not buy this again.

My 10 month old grandson was actually difficult to buy toys for this past Christmas. He's too old for teethers and fabric blocks that don't do anything, but too young for hammering or stacking blocks. This set was perfect for him. He can hold them on his own and flip the little doors or push the top buttons. He will play with these for 20-30 mins at a time which is a lot for a 10 month old! I've even seen him try to stack them up himself. I'm very pleased with this product and would recommend it for those "inbetween" (not infant, not toddler) babies!

I was surprised to see all the different kinds of activities on these little blocks. They are smaller than I expected, but each side has something interesting to touch, move, push. They don't stack very well, but when they are stacked, they interact. If you stack them and push the head on the top block, all three blocks have spinning sides that respond. But my baby just doesn't seem interested in them when he's alone with them. He likes when we play together with them, but it never goes to it on his own.

For those little hands, these are terrific for handling. The great assortment of colors, patterns, "moving parts" on the sides really stimulate a child's interest. My son is teething and wants everything in the mouth of course. The sides of this offer a nice variety of textures too. My son's favorite thing with these is to have them stacked on top of one another to either watch all the motions in sync when the top button is pressed OR just to knock down the stack of blocks. I got these for my son at about 8 months. He's now almost 14 months and still loves to play with these blocks. He's a "banger" so he loves to bang on the silly heads and watch the front spin. He's also learning how to stack them up. They're also small enough to put in his bag when we go out. I didn't even notice that they had stickers on them. But, his daycare center has these too, and ten one-year-olds play with them every day and the stickers have never come off. A great toy for the money.

This is a wonderful toy! Our baby was born with Down's Syndrome and by the time he was two months old he had already figured out how to turn the toy on by pushing the large buttons (easily pushed by a baby who has weak muscles, a condition typical to Downs babies) or by letting out a loud scream if he was swaddled and couldn't push the buttons. When he is very fussy, this is the only toy that comforts him (when mommy can't). If he cries, the toy turns on by itself and immediately entertains him. He makes the most adorable faces and noises with this toy! I think this was the fist thing he ever truly smiled at! He loves the light which turns different colors at a soothing or upbeat pace (based on the song or tune playing), and if I sing or hum a song that this toy has, he immediately smiles and recognizes it! It motivates him to move his arms and work his eye muscles which is what his therapist wants him to do. It is easy to use and has a strap on the back that allows you to attach it to a crib. The "play", 5, 10, and 15 minute settings are also great. I love what this toy has brought out in our son. He is almost four months old and has not tired of it at all. I only wish that it had a silent setting sometimes, as that light seems that it could entertain him by itself (for nighttime). Otherwise, this is a fantastic toy in my opinion as it works very well for him! I'm buying him a second one for back up!!!

My apologies, I left a review on the 26 th, but I see it didn't post. Excellent service. Actually arrive Christmas Eve. Toy was bought for autistic hearing impaired daughter and she kept insisting that we check the mail on Christmas Day. We kept trying to sign to her that the mail doesn't come today. Finally to get her to stop harassing us, my husband took her out to get the mail. To all of our surprise, there was her gift. We got this toy for our son's second birthday. He immediately liked the lights, sounds and music. Fairly quickly he was able to play the "find the letter" game, and the "find the color" game. He also likes the songs. There are several different games, and the voice is not too annoying (unlike lots of other toys of this ilk). Our son in about to turn 3, and he still plays with this toy on a daily basis. It has stood up to lots of abuse, only occassionally refusing to turn on. Taking the batteries out and then putting them back in always fixes the problem though. Overall, highly recommended.

Okay, here's the information I wanted before I bought this. :)

First and foremost, disregard the photo the only thing it shows you is the selection of colors you get. This is a very simple package 100 tiles each of four different colors (red, green, yellow, blue), for a total of 400 tiles. The tiles are sturdy plastic, one inch square by 2mm thick, with a smooth finish. (That's right, they're all squares no triangles or other shapes, despite the photo.) There are a few rough spots on the edges, so you might want to go over 'em with a file before letting the little ones loose on them.

Game designers, take note: this is an excellent source of Scrabble-like plain tiles. Just print your desired information on 3/4" squares and tape 'em to the tiles, and you've got decent playing pieces that can be easily changed or customized.

I was not disappointed in this grasping toy from Melissa and Doug. Initially I was somewhat concerned about pinched fingers getting caught in joints or bands for hair to get caught in, but we have had no such issues. The dinosaur is very well constructed and there is little to no possibility of pinches. My daughter is easily able to twist and manipulate the individual segments and has remained amused by this toy over the past two months. There have been no issues with chipping paint or broken pieces (this is a toy that stays in her play pen so its survived quite a few tosses onto the hardwood floors).

I recently purchased this toy for my 8 month old son. He has other Melissa & Doug toys that he loves and I was very excited to give him this new toy. When it arrived I was very pleased with the design, bright colors and I was sure he would love it. The first time I gave it to him he was thrilled!!! He loved holding it by the neck and the tail, swinging it around and putting the feet in his mouth. I was very pleased with my purchase and knew that he would get lots of use out of it. Then to my horror I realized that his mouth was full of paint chips!!! He has put the feet in his mouth a couple of times for under a minute total, but that was enough to soften the paint and cause it to start chipping. After taking it away from him I closely examined the toy and discovered that I could remove large chunks by rubbing my fingernail lightly over the surface. I immediately returned the toy for a refund. When packaging this item for return I also realized that the package states that this toy is for 1+ years. The Amazon listing states that it is for 6 months and up. Over all I would not recommend this toy for any young child due to the paint issue, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

this toy is ok. bigger then i expected and the colors are not as bright (it actually is only painted on front/ backnot edges). it is solid construction and my child loves to chew on it. the problem is that his fingers get pinched in the bends all the time! i thought it was just himbeing that he is 6 mos but my niece is 13 mos and the same thing happens to her. i would say this toy is meant for preschoolersdefinitely not babies!
