I just got 2 of these for my 4 year old and letter-excited 2 and 1/2 year old. Since the boxes have been opened, they have both been enamored for over an hour. The letter instruction is accurate and straightforward. The eraser is easy to use and the stylus is at least more accurate than the one at Target where I bought these. My 2 year old loves to write letters, so I know it would be a hit for him. But my 4 year old fights writing and drawing, so it's super exciting to see him get all excited about it AND actually write decent looking letters and lines. Get it! You'll be glad you did! Perfect back to school, starting school toy/tool for your youngster!

My 3 year old is starting to write and draw and this is really helping with her learning to write her ABC's and shapes. She really loves the dog Scout and the cute audio. The size of it is right on the money and is easy to take along in the car. Every letter brings out some cute responses too.

This was an Amazon gift from the grandparents to my 4 year old. He LOVES this! It teaches your child the proper way to make their letters. (My 8 year old needs one LOL!)He loves tracing the dots and sliding the eraser. It cheers the kids on after they push the paw print. He will sneak to play with it when he is suppose to be sleeping. It is currently at show and tell at his pre-k, he loves it that much. One week of use and he is going all over the house writing the first letter of his name. He has shown off his letter writing skills at the Drs. office. He now writes his letters better than his big brother in 3rd grade!

Based on the positive reviews, I bought this for my 4 1/2 year old son. I wish I'd listened to the 3 star reviews. This is more like a magnadoodle with a suggestion on what to draw. It doesn't give any feedback as to whether the child follows the drawing or letter correctly. What's more is that if you don't press hard enough, your drawing won't be made. I wish I'd passed on this purchase.

Great educational toy. One thing I would like to see get improved is the part you write on. It is a cheap plastic and when you write on it you can barely see what you wrote. I can see this part breaking or getting ruined somehow so easily. Those scribble pads that use a magnet are way better in this one aspect. Also the slide bar that you use to "erase" is completely open at the bottom so once you get any type of dirt, grime, food in there it will interfere with the writing.

I purchased this 2 years ago for our son who loves Curious George. It worked for less than a day (on regular mode. The demo mode is a strange feature) before not doing anything. He's adorable, pulling the hat over his head, then pushing it up, giggling as he goes. It comes on wheels, although ours never rolled. We have 4 other Curious George toys and they all worked wonderfully, so I'm sure this was a defective one. Unfortunately, I returned it for a replacement, but they didn't have them at the time. :(

Love this toy. It has entertained my son for quite some time until he got to the age where he could pick it up and play with it himself. It's such a fun toy and as he aged, he began to imitate it as well!

One weird thing about the toy (maybe not so weird)... but there is a display only mode, and at first it made me think the monkey was broken because it didn't go thru a full cycle. Thank goodness I figured that out, but not until I bought a second one. (Yep, I have two and am selling one!)

However, my little guy just loves it and squeals when Curious George lifts his hat off his head. It's really a riot to watch!

So, the toy is great from age 8 months (adult operated) and has continued to entertain my son who is now 2 and 1/2....

I had no idea that rocks could glow under a UV light before we saw this kit. I must say, this is really neat science from Dr. Cool. I was very impressed with how the ultraviolent light (included) makes each rock glow in a different color. This product was a huge hit in our house.

The Glow Rocks Kit comes with an activity booklet, an adventure guide, a UV lamp, and six glow rocks. We learn about why things glow, the different wavelengths of light, and how to identify seven types of minerals: hackmanite, sphaelerite, wernerite, willemite, common opal, fluorite, and calcite.

Impressive. The rocks fluoresce, all of them differently, and the children experimented. There were ten suggested experiments in all:

1) Look at the rocks under the UV lamp.

2) See how the rocks fluoresce in water.

3) See how the rocks fluoresce when the UV lamp is behind sunglasses.

4) See how the rocks fluoresce when different strength sunscreens are applied.

5) See how different toothpastes glow.

6) Look at different currencies of bills under the UV lamp.

7) Look at different stamps under the UV lamp.

8) Look at different driver's licenses and passports and ID cards under the UV lamp.

9) Test objects around the house to see if they glow.

Best Deals for Glow Rocks Science Kit

This is a fun kit for the little scientist in your house. It is a little expensive as a kit but black lights are not cheap in general. What I liked about this kit: the rocks all glow, some more than others but they are good specimens (about an inch or more in size). The black light is small and portable making the possibility of finding other luminescent items a lot easier and fun. The light has a double feature of being a black light and a regular 'flashlight' which we used a lot to see the difference between the black light colors and the 'white light' colors without having to turn the overhead lights on and off.

My 8-year-old had fun walking around looking for other glowing items in her room including her own rock collection from the 'pick a bag of rocks' bins.

This is nicely packaged and makes a good gift idea. The kit is a little pricy but the benefit of it is up to you as the consumer to get more out of it with the bonus activities and research.

Best of all, this kit is Made in the USA.

I got this for my 8 year old daughter. She loves it, but honestly either the light is really weak, or the rocks don't glow much. I can hardly see them in the dark with the light shining on them. I might try a better black light to see if it helps.

The rocks certainly do not look like the illustration shown here. You can barely see any color.

She still likes it though.

My 8 y/o daughter loves collecting rocks and minerals. This item was on her xmas wishlist last year and her uncle got it for her. The kit was everything we hoped it would be. All the rocks are a fair size (about 1"-2" each) and react to UV nicely. The black light still works a year later! My daughter still loves getting these rocks out and making them glow.

The kit costs a bit more money than others you might come across, but it's well worth it for the quality. I had gotten my daughter a different glowing rocks kit elsewhere, for half the price, and it was garbage. The rocks were tiny and most of them didn't react to UV at all.

This is a nice book. Both my two year old son and I like it a lot. It has the normal animals like DOG and LION, but also unexpected animals like DINGO. It shows the animals according to their habitat and you can hear the animals' names and their actual sounds, plus extra miscellaneous activities.

I bought the Animal family photos for my granddaughter at the time she was one. The first attraction was the animal sounds, then she was relating the animals to the sounds they make to identifing the animal by name. My granddaughter is two now and she sure knows her animals. The little tidbits about the animals are good and easy for little ones to understand. Of course she has her favorite animals she loves to listen too. Like all of LeapFrog products, this too is great!

My 8-year-old received this last year for Christmas, and yes, it was recommended for 4-5 year olds, but what do they know about really teaching school??? The set up is not a pre-school one, but an elementary school with report cards, attendance lists, etc. This is the one play item that my daughter and her friends always seek out when they come to my house. My 9 year old daughter has had this toy for 2 years and she still plays with it on a regular basis. She and her friends play school with each other or even with their animals. They also sell a refill kit for when you run out of the stickers and paper. A really great value for kids who love to pretend.

My daughter received this for her 5th birthday. She likes to pretend she is a teacher. She didn't understand what the report cards, hall passes and grade sheets were for. However, a child a few years older would. She likes tracking the weather and circling the current day on the calendar and writing on the board. She loves the pointer, bell and stickers. It is a great toy for pretend play for a 4 or 5 year old. It doesn't seem that babyish, so I think a 6 or 7 year old (maybe even 8) would like to play with it. An older child would understand the maps, hall passes, grades and report cards.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Most of the Leapster games we have focus on reading and language skills, which is awesome, but this was a very welcome change. My son LOVES Phineas and Ferb, and I'm so glad Leap Frog made a science game involving their concepts. My son is five, and it really challenges him to think through addition, subtraction, shapes, material properties and even basic engineering.

There are several different games to play. In one, Phineas and Ferb drive around one of their creations while battling food-throwing robots that hurl meatballs and cheese sauce. To improve your craft, you do math problems. While my son has been reluctant and a bit grouchy about homework these days, he's all for figuring out addition, subtraction and multiplication if it means his robot car will have an inflatable bumper or a better water balloon launcher.

There is also a section on electricity what conducts, what does not, what appliances around the house draw more power.

Our favorite section of the game is the machine builder. You are given different materials and an incomplete invention, and you have to create a path to roll a marble from the top into a can using different objects, like an incline plane, lever or pulley. It's just plain neat.

And of course, as Perry the Platypus, you can battle the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz in his inator!

I would highly recommend this game to sneak in development of math and science skills. My son absolutely loves it. At five years old, it provides him enough of a challenge while still being fun, and I can see him still finding fun in it in the years to come.

That isn't an area my daughter struggles with, so I especially like that this game focuses on science and math. She is reluctant to practice math facts, but while fighting off food throwing robots she was more than eager to solve the needed math problems. We played together in story mode and had a great time! I definitely recommend this for children who enjoy math and science, as well as those who don't.

The main one where you have to help Phineas and Ferb collect the spare parts for their machine while avoiding the food that the robots fling at them. There are several levels on this mode but their are fairly similar in the way they played. The other play mode is a "Rube Goldberg"-like machine where you have to help Perry get into the hatch opening. There a several of these levels to play but they are fairly repetitive as well and there isn't a diversity of objects that can be used. All-in-all it's a reasonably fun game for the little ones but probably not for long lasting play.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The LeapPad is a durable, safe alternative to an iPad -which our fiveand nine-year-old girls both enjoy playing with, but we don't enjoy handing over to them because of the sticky fingerprints and fears of them breaking it. The useability of the LeapPad Explorer device and the functionality are great. It is intuitive and easy for even preschoolers. The touch screen is responsive and the tablet and pen are large enough for small hands to manipulate controls easily. We have a Leapster, which our kids both love, but the screen is quite small and the experiencess are more limited than the LeapPad can offer. The LeapPad comes pre-loaded with some simple games and offers download options for more content. It is important to note that the LeapPad is not completely self-contained; you have to install software on your computer to download games, books, etc. You can use cartridges that stand alone, but you can't access add-ons and other "bonus" earned in-game material without connecting to a computer. The software worked with our Mac, but it was cumbersome to install and a pain to leave it sitting on the computer taking up space all the time. Be aware that setting up the LeapPad for the first time will take about a half hour.

The Phinneas & Ferb Explorer Game we have is advertised for a K-2nd grade level, but even the lowest levels had math that required advanced addition and subtraction. That makes it sound like it is highly educational, but it was really just a simple maze where you shoot targets and avoid blasts until you hit a wall with a math problem. Once you solve it, you can go on. There is not much else to the game, though solving levels earns "badges" which you can use when connected to a computer to access more content or tools for the game. I wouldn't consider a few too-advanced math problems really educational, since they don't offer ways to learn; you have to already know how to solve them. That said, the LeapFrog Leapster games we've used over the years are a mixed bag too. Some are really great, others are weakly educational and much more video game-ish. I imagine that the Explorer games will be the same way. If you choose carefully, you can find some great games. It is worth noting that the Leapster games cannot be used by the LeapPad. The LeapPad can only use LeapPad and Explorer games and downloadable games from LeapFrog.

All in all, this is a nice game system if you have the right games, but don't expect it to really be an educational tool. We like it as an alternative to a Nintendo DS or other handheld gaming system that is just focused on more frivolous time-wasting games. The LeapFrog systems allow our kids to have brief gaming fun on car trips, while having some interaction with learning elements.

And thanks to them he became obsessed with becoming an inventor and loves books about Thomas Edison and Benjamin Franklin. He now loves shows like Nova and "Inventions That Shook The World". So when he got this game for his 5th birthday, I knew it would be an instant success. He LOVES it. And that is an understatement. On a recent four hour road trip he spent (no joke) 100% of the drive playing this game. I played it a little just to get an idea of what he was spending all his time doing and I was SO impressed. It feels a bit like an interactive episode of the show, with tons of math and engineering games as well as plenty of traditional game play to keep it exciting. It is just challenging enough for him to keep him learning (he is in Kindergarten), but not so hard that he gets discouraged. My favorite part of the game is when you get to create track for Perry (who is in a hamster ball) and have to figure out the trajectory of the ball and what sort of shapes will get him to his destination.

Over all an excellent game.

I really like these blocks for an infant. The baby is only 6 months old and tumbles over her toys every once in a while, so it's great that these blocks are soft. Each block makes a different noise when shaken, they have different texture material that the baby can handle, they crinckle, and can be assembled into 3 pictures. Very neat and have lots of room for exploring for an infant. The pull-along cart is a nice bonus.

Review of Speech Therapy Tool to Correct the "S" Sound

My 8-year old son has problems with the "s" sound. He usually sticks his tongue out too far. He also has a palate expander and braces, which isn't really helping!! On the recommendation of the school speech therapist, we purchased the "S" speech buddy. He brought it to school today and the therapist emailed me that within a half hour, his speech was 100 times better!! I just heard him on the phone and it is like hearing a different child! And he was so happy and proud of himself!! I know it's expensive, but worth it to correct something that the speech therapist hasn't been able to correct in 3 years of speech therapy!!
