I bought this for my car loving son who loves playing car games on his uncle's iPhone. After realizing that the racing game didn't use the touchscreen to move the cars, I was very disappointed. My son was initially excited to play but he stopped playing within 5 minutes. The tracks take too many laps to keep his attention and I didn't see too much learning with this game either. I give it 3 stars because the product is what the manufacturer describes, but I don't think it's as good as other games out there.

This giant ruler is a great way to teach my first graders how to use a ruler by adding in a time for measuring items in the room every day. I just put it low enough on my math whiteboard so kids can measure with it too. If I had a document camera, I probably would not have bought it, but now that I have it, I'd probably use it in addition to a doc cam since it just stays there ready to practice with with no set-up time.

I have the 'clear plastic' color but... same difference.

The cheap plastic container think of the plastic of which milk gallons are made, only a little thicker has a partition to hold the Tag Reader in place and sufficient room to fit up to 6 books.

The hinges consist of 3 strips of clear plastic that are glued to the top half and the bottom half of the case. When opening the case you should not force the top half beyond 90 degrees or the hinges are likely to break this is what earns this item the one star for 'durability'.

The front is locked with 2 rather loose green plastic clamps. You must be careful when closing the case or they may end up inside the plastic handle instead of outside and they could bend or break.

My advice: you may be better off with a generic (zippered) 8"x10" case for your Tag Reader and its books. If you do decide to buy this one, do not let your kid handle it or it may not last for long.

A warning states that this product should not be used by children under 3 because of a 'hazardous pinch point when closing lid'. Good point.

Picked this case up in the store when we bought the Tag system. Paid $17 for it, but thought it was worth it because it looked like it contained the Ozzie & Mack book inside it. Misleading packaging! Have to read the fine print to see it doesn't include a book with it and we paid $17 for a plastic case. Feel ripped off, but I'm sure the case will come in handy, but it was definitely overpriced.

This storage case worked very well for us. Fits the pen and several books that would otherwise be tossed around the room. Our daughter is 4-1/2 and learning how to organize herself, so providing a tool that helps her with that task is terrific.

We like the TAG case, ours is the pink one, which our daughter loves. The case is made out of a thick plastic, that will (we know this from experience) withstand the weight of a 40lb child standing on it, although I don't really recommend trying this out. The hinges come down from the top of the case, and slide into grooves on the bottom of the case, and yes, they pull apart if your kid is really yanking on it, but they pop right back in with no problem. The case holds six books plus has a little spot for the pen, which is nice, because otherwise it would rattle around in there. For us, it was a good purchase, we bought it for $14 and I feel like we got our money's worth. Yeah, you could just buy a zip pouch for it, that's true, but if it gets stepped on, or something spilled on it, you'll wish you'd sprung for the plastic case, because your TAG pen will be ruined, and that's no fun for anyone.

I was hesitant because of some reviews stating it was poorly made, pinched fingers, was flimsy or difficult for little hands to use.

My daughter is 3 and I find this item GREAT. She has no problem opening and closing the case, putting her books and TAG reader in. It keeps everything together and protected. She loves carrying it from place to place and having her books handy. We have found that we can fit 8 regular books in the case.

The only disadvantage we found is that she has a set of TAG cars that don't fit well in the case unless you want to take a bunch of books out.

The stencil set is a nice first introduction to tracing and shape recognition. I bought it for my 3-year-old daughter who likes to draw. The first thing I had to do when the set arrived is punch the shapes out of the outline, so the stencils become usable. So you actually get two sets of stencils one to trace around the shape that is punched out, and the other trace the inner shape on the stencil itself. The pictures run quite big, though. One picture fits on the standard copy paper, so if you want to make a scene with these stencils, you have to get a big sheet of drawing paper.

This just arrived for my daughter. I am very pleased with the quality. The fact the kids can trace the inside of the rectangular stencil, or the outside of the cutout is fantastic. They are thin, so they'll store easily. They are flexible, and the edges are not sharp. My daughter is going to enjoy these for years to come.

They are made of a fairly sturdy and semi-rigid plastic, so they are easy for my daughter to hold in place and trace. Also, each stencil comes on a scored sheet, so after you push out the stencil, you have both the inside image to trace around and the standard stencil to trace inside. These have gotten a lot of use.

These stencils are very thin with no support for small hands. They will probably work better if taped down to the paper so they can't move. If the child uses a thick crayon, I believe that it will just bump off the edge of the stencil and color the stencil itself. An adult's help is encouraged to prevent frustration.

I bought this microphone stand for my six-year-old, who truly does love it. I felt it deserved three stars solely because she gets so much use out of it, and doesn't seem to notice how cheaply made it is. I purchased ours for $30, but saw that it was going for over $100 at Toys 'R Us. If you have to spend more than $40 on this, just don't -it's not worth it. The speakers sound awful, if you decide to hook up an MP3 player to the unit. Not to mention, if you do use music from the outside source, the children can't really hear it so it loses it's appeal quite quickly. It does light up, which is a fun feature; and has two low-quality soundbites from the Victorious television show (one being applause, which doesn't really have much to do with the show at all). Actually, the only way your child would know that this item is the "Victorious" microphone is if they saw the box, which has Victoria Justice on the front. Otherwise, you're better off buying a better quality mic for half of the price, and sticking a Victorious sticker somewhere on it.

V.Flash Controller Review

Purchased this joystick so a second player can participate in the VTECH Flash games. There is nothing wrong with the joystick, it works fine. It is easy to use and we love the versatility of it because it is made to accomodate left and right handed people. Which is why we gave it a 5 star review. HOWEVER, when using this joystick as a second player, it was not as we expected. We were hoping the two players could play simultaneously and interact with each other's characters while playing games. That isn't the case. Only one person plays at a time. So, interest is easily lost when waiting for a player to complete the game. This is no fault of the joystick. However, my kids (ages 6 and 4) won't use this joystick as a second player because either way, they are waiting to take a turn and as I stated eariler, ineterest is lost. So, if you are considering this as a buy for the second player option, it may not be worth your money.

Purchased this product a few years ago so that both of my boys could play on the Vtech at the same time. Silly me didn't realize that only one child can play at a time on the games that we have. It doesn't take long for it to switch sides and is very sturdy in case it drops a lot. Have it here as a backup in case the one that came with the system breaks.

The sound is at best an escaping steam noise and a "squeaking " whistle NOTHING like a STEAM Locomotive or a Loco Whistle..!! The two controls don't do what is described the "volume" also affects the sound character and the "SPEED" is only changing usable in the last 30% of the potentiometer. Therefore, it's useless as a serious sound effect generator for a model railroad or Steam Locomotive and too expensive for a "toy". The time for assembly was a waste but at least the instructions were correct and easy, no parts missing (to say at least something POSITIVE) ... SORRY..!!! P.K.H.

Nice little circuit board and easy to assemble if you have had previous experience in wiring and soldering. The switch for the train sound and for the whistle in integrated onto the board so there was a little extra work to make these external. The sound is not bad, particularly if you use a much better speaker than that enclosed. I would recommend and buy again. Great service from company.

They were not kidding when they said this was a kit to assemble!!! I am not a hobbiest and thought that this would be a great addition to a homemade Christmas toy! Well, it probably will be as soon as I can get my husband to show me how to use a saudering iron. You get the blank green circut board and all the integrated circuts and chips and buttons etc. they come in a package that includes a technical schematic and you get to follow the map and sauder each tiny piece into the chipboard and then clip their excess wires. (Just be really careful about their polarity!)

If all goes just right I should have a working sound part. I assume that the working criteria is not an Amazon guarantee as it is put together by us and not them. I am not sure I would have purchased something this technical if I had been fully aware of what type of a project this was going to be or if I understood what assembly required ment here. (Much more than attaching a 9v battery!) :) If you do not have a saudering iron or the courage to learn something new...you would probably not want to purchase this item.

I think it is a fair price for what you get, if you know what you are getting!

Anyways, wish me luck! If I can pull this off, it will be a really cool addition to a super cool homemade toy!

Our 10-month-old daughter enjoys playing with these magnets on our fridge. We bought them for her knowing she loves animals. The colours are vivid, the animals realistic, and the size is perfect (the smallest magnet is too big for her to choke on).

These magnets are made of layers of thin wood pieces plus the laminated pictures, and three of our magnets have started peeling apart after a few days' play, probably due to defective manufacturing process. We won't be returning / exchanging them, but it's still a bit disappointing. Would we purchase a second set from the same company? Maybe, maybe not.

The pictures themselves are okayI like that they are not cartoon-y. They are plywoodnot solid wood. The magnets are quite weakgood for little one's taking them on and off, but don't plan on having them hold anything up on your fridge. If you're going for affordable, these are acceptable, but if you're aiming for high quality, keep looking.

In my opinion, the quality of the product--especially the images--exceeds that of a similar item offered by Melissa & Doug. The magnets have held up well to daily use with the expected sorting games.

The picture will peel up at the edges if exposed to moisture--it is a paper image applied to a wood backing. I mention this only for those parents whose children are still in the phase of chewing on toys as this could be problematic (I would anticipate these wearing out quickly for you).

My 13-month-old daughter recently discovered magnets at her cousin's house so I decided to purchase a set for her to play with at home too. I went with the T.S. Shure's magnets after reading the reviews.

My LO likes them a lot and is constantly taking them off and trying to put them back on the fridge. She also learned that there are difference between the front and the back of the magnets as only one side will stick to the fridge. They help keeping my daughter occupied in the kitchen.

The magnets are well-made with round edges so not to hurt little fingers. The pictures are nice and realistic enough to the real animals.

These little animals are great. Nice vivid pictures. My kids really like them. No teeth marks from the younger one, which is a huge plus. Only downside is that my little one likes to push them under the frig. After I dig them out I wash them off a little and they don't seem to hold up that great to washing. They are still looking okay, but I wonder how long they will last if I keep washing them. I think a requirement of any children's toys is that it should be washable. But that's just me. I wash everything.

I purchased this for my 5 year old daughter. My family travels extensively & this is just what I was looking for. It arrived with a blemish on the globe itself, but Amazon offered me a 20% discount if I wanted to keep it. I colored the spot in with a pencil & it is OK. The price is a little expensive, so shop around. The volume is good & easily understandable. It has so many activites, a little advanced for a 5 year old, but with Mom's help, not a problem. She loves listening to the facts about the countries, and also the music. This is something that we will use for the next couple of years anyways. It is probably good for ages 5-9.

We purchased this globe for our eight-year-old daughter. The globe came with postage size "advertisements" stuck around the globe. When my daughter tried to take off the "advertisements" the paper on the globe came with them. I have tried since the end of December to resolve this issue with MGA Entertainment, and they have for a lack of a better word, called me a liar and said my daughter has stuck "stickers" on the globe and that is why there is no Mexico, Israel, Japan, and part of the Atlantic Ocean. The sad part is that my daughter likes the globe and is learning about different languages, music, and currency. She does not want to give up the globe, but for what you pay, I would really like a replacement from the manufacturer.

I presented this toy to my six year old daughter for Christmas. It's really interactive, educational, fun, entertaining and very easy to operate. She enjoys the games that challenge her memory and it has undeniably improved her knowledge of places around the world, the people and their cultures. She is also very fascinated with the fabulous places which has tons of information about particular countries. I had forgotten where exactly was Mount Everest and the globe has certainly refreshed my memory. Not only is it educational for kids but adults as well and I give it five stars. I bought this product for my daughters. It is hard to point to smaller states with the pen as the tip is a little broad and the voice is not that clear. Elenco SP3B Practical Soldering Project Kit Reviews

I purchased this soldering kit along with the Elenco AmeriKit Learn to Solder Kit also available on Amazon, and the other kit is MUCH better. Here's why:

1) The other kit comes with a good soldering iron. Both kits have a spool of solder, but you'll have to buy a soldering iron if you get this kit.

2) This kit, when finished, gives you a board that blinks two alternating red lights. The other one is an alarm system that not only blinks the two LED lights, but also plays the sound of a European alarm when it's turned on.

Maybe it's just because I built this kit after the Elenco AmeriKit Learn to Solder Kit, but I was highly disappointed when I saw the very few amount of parts that came with this kit. That feeling was only reinforced when I put it together, turned it on, and was rewarded by...two blinking lights. The other kit was much more satisfying, and I would highly recommend that one if you need to learn how to solder.

I don't think anyone would need both kits to learn how to solder, either. One is sufficient to get you moving on to bigger and better projects, like robot kits.

EDIT 12/16/2011: The price on this kit has gone down since I purchased it, and is now competitively priced compared to the other kit I bought. If you already have a soldering iron, this kit would be a reasonable purchase, but for only three dollars more, I still recommend the other kit mentioned.

This was a pretty fun little project and through doing it my soldering did improve a LOT. It was worth buying because of the learning aspect, but if you were to look at what you actually get in the way of parts, the price seems a bit steep.

This is an excellent resource for those wanting to learn to solder. The instructions are clear and concise and the kit provides lots of practice. It does help if you have a multimeter to check your work but this isn't rocket science so that isn't really necessary.

this kit does a good job of introducing you to basic through-hole electronics components and introducing you to the nuances of soldering.

the pamphlet that comes with it states you should have a 15-40 watt soldering iron. I purchased a 30 watt iron and burned the tracks on the first kit I bought. it should really advise you to purchase a 15 watt iron, or better yet -purchase a temperature controlled soldering station and set the temp to around 350 degrees F, perhaps more for lead free solder.

the solder that the kit comes with is lead free and extremely thick (perhaps 1mm) for such small through-hole work. it is much much easier to solder with ~0.3mm gauge solder. I recommend you purchase your solder separately.

all in all you're probably better off buying a prototyping board, some thin solder, and a good beginner electronics book. this kit attempts to do a lot of things and is only 'okay' at all of them.
