Reviews of My Tot Clock - New Dimmer Blue Night Light!
My Tot Clock is more than just a clock! It's a sleep clock, alarm clock, nightlight, time-out timer, and activity timer for toddlers who can't yet tell time. This is a must have for anyone who has a toddler in the house... or even a school age child who can tell time, but loves following along with the regimented and simple routine.

Set of 4 Sesame Street Workbooks: Alphabet with Elmo, Numbers Reviews

These work books are great! I just started my 2 1/2 year old on them. They hold his attention for a little while, we'll be working in them everyday now!
The Cookie Monster one really shines though. There is little letter "tracing" as it's geared towards phonics not writing, per say, as you go through each letter circling pictures that begin with that letter sound. If it was just that I'd be a little bored with it, but they have great little games speared throughout that are essentially "phonics color by number" or a "phonics tic tac toe". The last 10 pages are the best because they're really hard! It has the child start to identify beginning and ending sounds to words in various games, matching picture to it's first letter or ending letter, and then finally actually writing the beginning and ending letters together on the blank lines under a picture.
It made my 3 1/2 year old feel really capable because she could do the beginning pages all by herself and then I could help her grow and progress as we did the back pages together, learning how to listen for even middle sounds. It was a great workbook. Definitely recommend the set as an inexpensive first introduction to letters and numbers.
I'd recommend that your child be able to ID both upper case and lower case letters before progressing to the Letter Sounds with Cookie Monster book.

These were purchased for my grandson, a preschooler. He loves them and has been working in them. As soon as he saw the sesame street characters he was interested. Very well packaged.Best Deals for Set of 4 Sesame Street Workbooks: Alphabet with Elmo, Numbers
We loved these books. We actually bought them from Family Dollar for $1 a piece (so check there first before ordering on Amazon!) and they far exceeded my expectations for $1 workbooks. They are full color, with all the Sesame Street characters, and have varying skill levels that can grow with your child. We skipped the color one with Ernie because my 3 1/2 year old already had that down. But Elmo and Big Bird were nice little introductions with areas to color and trace, increasing familiarity with letters and numbers. The Cookie Monster one really shines though. I bought these work books thinking they were flash cards. It was my own fault I didn't read the discription. I am keeping the work book cause I know I can use them later for my son. He is only 18 months now so they are a little premature.Friday, December 12, 2014
Cheap Learning Resources Giant Magnetic Insects
Bought this for a coworker's child's birthday. Kid absolutely adored it, learned all the insects quickly. This was after a few days of giant insect magnets decorating our lab fridge though, haha.

Cheap Handle for Sensory Brush
My son has sensory processing disorder, and his occupational therapist provided us with one brush for his brushing therapy. I love the handle because it makes it easier for an adult to handle the small brush.
The handle snaps on snugly, and can be used over time on multiple brushes. I wish there was a choice of color, unfortunately you get what they send. Overall this was a helpful purchase. If you are planning on ordering the related sensory brushes, it is a good idea to get a handle or two. It will make brushing easier.

Bumblebee Transformers RPM commander series Review
From seeing this car on tv, I thought it had the pull back and let go feature. It's just a hotwheels car with a robot on the under side. My 3 yr old likes it anyways. I just thought it was a expensive for what it is.

I teach 4th grade and my students use this model in our science station. One child can hold the labeled section and let their partner practice naming the correct parts of the plant cell. Plant cells are heavily tested on our state achievement test each year. If you're teaching plant cells, buy this! Get the animal cell model, too. It's great to have them both at students' fingertips so they can compare and contrast the structures.Honest reviews on Plant Cell Cross Section Model; no. LER1901

My son is fascinated by nature and he and his grandfather had a good time dissecting this frog. The delivery was timely and the product as promised. We have used Carolina before and always been happy with them.

The only thing that was not up to our satisfaction was the cutting tool. The sissors were dull and made the operation difficult.Best Deals for Young Scientists Frog Dissection Kit
I did this with my seven year old who is very curious about the way things work. It had very clear instructions and was very informative. It comes with everything needed so I didn't have to purchase any additional supplies. It does take awhile to complete but gives the option of completing one section first and then the rest later. All in all, it's a great product and I recommend.Discount Peaceable Kingdom / Lock & Key Diary 'Owls'
Bought this for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loves it and it has encouraged her to write every night. The pages are colorful and inviting, and there are plenty of them. The quality is as expected! The lock is a child's lock, so don't expect too much from it. Overall, I would buy another just like it when this one is full!

This is an awesome, stylish and cute diary. The diary came with 2 keys, and the lock is easy for my 8 year old to unlock. The colors are bright and the owls are adorable. There are a lot more pages than I expected and is nicer than the diary we bought at Claire's for twice the price. I will def order additional diaries like this for birthday gifts.Best Deals for Peaceable Kingdom / Lock & Key Diary 'Owls'

Review of First Act Discovery Rock N Roll Guitar
I bought this for my 6-yr old daughter. She loves it! It has the buttons to press to make different sounds, so that makes it fun for her. Her little sister dances to the music! It is cheaper at Toys R Us. Only problem I see is that it didn't come with a strap so she can hold it around her shoulders/neck. That is sold separately. But for the value ($20 at toys r us), good deal!

I like when lesser-known creatures get the honor of a replica, and I like when an unique action pose is used. But there is a risk for these companies with both, and this time the results were less than stellar. The sculpt is good, but the paint is merely safe. That would be OK if there were other points of interest about this creature, but the only thing that gets my attention is the strange posture. What the heck is it doing? About to be sick? Choking up a fur ball? Ducking to avoid an old girlfriend? Assuming the fetal position after some bad news? The most interesting thing about this gut is figuring out his psych profile.
I expect they saw this one facing off with some smaller plant eater, but it's not easy to do. My son puts different little vegetarians in front and it still just looks like acrocanthosaurus just bumped his head or something (you can almost see him trying to rub his head with his sawed-off little arms and cursing).
Four stars for making a new realistic animal available in some other position than attention. But I wouldn't rush to put this guy in you stable unless just want one of everything, or you have all of the hundred other better ones.
The education value is high. Even my 5 year old knows that dinosaurs and humans did not live at the same time!

I bought a bunch of these over several years for my nephew who was into dinosaurs. (Now, not so much.) He liked them fine and played with them fine, but I didn't get the impression from his mom or from what I saw that he loved these any more than he loved the cheap ones you get at like Dollar Tree or WalMart. They all went into the same Bucket O Dinos and got dumped in the dirt the same, got dumped in the bathtub the same, slept in his bed the same (ouch) etc. And he doesn't seem any more knowledgeable about dinosaurs than any other kid his age either, though I grant you he doesn't seem to think they shot lasers out of their eyes or got captured into a Pokeball or whatever either. I would buy them again for my own son but probably not for anyone else's because there are other toys where it looks like you get more for your money.Best Deals for Safari Ltd Carnegie Collection- Acrocanthosaurus

Watch-A-Bug Reviews
My 3 year old loves this watch because it leaves his hands free to catch additional insects/bugs; and I love this watch because it tightly clicks shut! So many other bug "boxes" and containers just have lids that are placed on top but don't lock into place which means 99% of the time the little critters are going to end up in places you don't want them! (such as running around your house or in your car while you are driving and your child is strapped in his carseat so obviously can't re-catch them). I have bought about a dozen or so other bug "boxes" or "houses or "containers" and this is by far the best one. I only wish I had found it before wasting all my money on all those others.
I think it's a great idea-kinda gross to think they're on their arm, but there's plenty of sturdy plastic between wrist & bug!
Cool and cheap toy. I do feel bad for the bugs...but she truly loves them!!

I bought these for a couple of 4 year old boys who love to collect all things creepy crawly. Only thing is that the poor little insects often receive a bit too much loving while being clamped in their small, moist hands. This frequently turns out to be an unfortunate end for the bugs and results in heartbroken little guys who were trying to be gentle with their new buggy friends. The wrist habitat offers the insect a semi-safe spot to be viewed and "befriended" by little folk. It also gives an opportunity for parents to instill some early compassion in their children; such as, "Honey, I think that Calvin the Cricket has ridden around long enough now and would probably like to go home to see his family. Maybe another bug can take a turn for a bit." After one or two of these suggestions, I've noticed that the kids become very conscientious about returning their bugs to the spot where they were originally found. So, all in all, a fun accessory to observe bugs; but also an opportunity for the little ones to think things through and learn about other living creatures around them.Honest reviews on Watch-A-Bug

LEGO Duplo Little Forest Friends Counting Game Review
This game is really sweet, and a lot of fun with preschoolers. My two year old has giggly fun counting the number of steps during play for each person. Each play card in the basic set has a number and countable forest things like flowers, snails, ladybugs, etc. Additional card sets and more complex rules can be used to make the game more challenging for older children... addition and subtraction sets. The game pieces include the cute Little Forest Friends in four different colors, small snail and flower cards to add complexity on the board, and 3 duplo bricks in each of the four colors (2-4 players). Really cute and very fun to play such a game with a child just learning how to take turns and count!
I have to say, that it is a really a shame when such cute, simple and fun toys with educational value ends up being so difficult to find. When the price gets way too high, such toys become unobtainable for the very kids that could get so much joy out of playing with them with 'grownups'. I got this game for less than $10 on Ebay just a few months ago, and I hope that Lego can make this game again and make it more widely available, at a price point that makes it accessible to more kids.

I purchased this for my daughter's first birthday. I was not sure if I wanted to get it, since it only had one review at the time, but it is a great toy! She cannot quite flip the ball to the top but she likes to watch me do it, and she loves to watch the balls roll around. I love that the balls are on the inside...I don't have to worry about her swallowing a ball, or having to find the missing balls. Great toy overall!

My son (22 mo) has a lot of fun playing with this. We're even teaching him to count with it. It is well made and takes a beating. He hasn't learned how to flip the balls to the top level, but he will. I recommend this toy.Best Deals for Wonderworld Counting Ball
I think my boys will find this more interesting when we use it for demonstrating simple addition and subtraction, right now as a simple toy, it doesn't get a whole lot of play. But I can see it coming in handy teaching low number/introductory addition and subtraction with the numbers printed in both places (above and below). It's solid wood and high quality.Honest reviews on Wonderworld Counting Ball
I love this toy. Even my 11 and 8 year olds love to play with it. There is something therapuetic about it. I haven't used it with a toddler but with a life skills child. It did not make her counting/adding/subtracts skills any better than using manipulatives on a table. She got lost in putting the balls up and taking them down. Therefore, don't expect it to help them learn to count but it is a good reinforcer if you sit and play with them. It is made of sturdy wood and could probably withstand any kid.
