I love this book! My daughter and I sat down and she absolutely LOVES this Sesame Street book! I think that this is a must have for children that are from ages 2 1/2 on up...it is so cute! When my two year old got his power touch last October he received a couple of extra storybook and Elmo's Big Surprise was one of them. With actual voices from the show this book fits into your Power touch as you can follow along the story and pause to press on virtually everything on each page. I'm going to be sharing this with my other mommy friends because I know many little people who need something to do while sitting on mommy's lap! There are great little toys to keep them occupied (each with a different feature -vibrations, crinkle sounds, mirror, etc) and the ipad/ipod slots are valuable if there's a game or movie that the little one likes. My review of this item is mixed. On the plus side, my kids were very excited to try this quick sand experiment. It comes with a pretty nifty explanation of how this mixture is neither solid nor liquid, and so that's a worthwhile lesson to teach. And it does feel weird. It feels wet but it's not. It becomes powdery and dry but it's a liquid. BUT it turns out it's nothing more than a bag of cornstarch which you mix with water. And for which you've paid close to $8. The kids were a bit disappointed because it didn't feel or look like what they expected it to....actual quicksand. And it's really, really messy.I would recommend you do this OUTSIDE as you can't pour it down the sink or even really wash your hands in the sink. We used wet paper towels and then kept rubbing our hands until it basically disappeared. So you can do the same thing at home with cornstarch and water but you won't have the nifty box and explanation of solids and liquids.The two plastic animals were fine but we used lots of our own figures to play with.

The instructions are very detailed and guide you step by step as you create this cute jungle scene.

This Jungle Quicksand is an example of what is called a Non-Newtonian fluid-a fluid that defies Isaac Newton's law of viscosity. All fluids have this property. Viscosity is a fluid's measurable thickness or resistance to flow.

Newton stated that the viscosity (thickness) of a fluid can be changed only by altering the fluid's temperature. For example, motor oil and honey both flow more easily when you warm them up and they become very thick when they get cold. A Non-Newtonian fluid has the same dependence on temperature but, its viscosity can also be changed by applying pressure. When you squeeze a handful of this gooey Quicksand, its viscosity increases so, it acts like a solid for a split second. When you release the pressure, the glop behaves like a liquid again.

This is a great little science kit that also teaches just how quicksand works and how to escape it if you ever find yourself trapped! This Jungle Quicksand kit even comes with a list other activities you can do with it. The options are to change the color of the Quicksand, write a story about the jungle world you created and it tells you how you can create your own real quicksand at home using a large tub, water and sand.

Jungle Quicksand comes with a page of safety information for the supervising adult which is very informative. Be very sure to read how this must be discarded! Jungle Quicksand Cool Science kit was created by Steve Spangler and sold by Be Amazing Toys.

this is a good sounding drum. I bought this for my husband, who use to play drums, because he was interested in the bodhran. The rim is sturdy, and the skin looks to be in good condition, no thinning in places and it's nice and tight. If the hubby sticks with it, then I'll get him a more expensive drum. But as it stands, this will be a good practice/learner drum.

I purachased this bodhran AFTER I had purchased a larger 18 inch drum and was having problems as a beginner, holding the larger drum properly as I'm a small female. I had a death grip on the larger drum, so much so that I was causing bruises on my inner forearm from the drum rim. That being said, I bought the smaller 14 inch drum and the fit is MUCH better!

This a a nice little drum, although on arrival the drum head was so incredibly tight and thin that I was afraid it would tear and the sound was horrid!!! In all fairness, it arrived in the dead of summer, very low humidity and I feel quite sure that contributed to the tension and tinniness of the drum.

I let the drum acclimate a bit indoors, and then applied a few sprits of water to the inside of the drum head, waited awhile and it seemed to improve a bit. Since I didn't want to keep applying water to the head, I gave it a bit of drum conditioner on the inside of the skin, let it soak in and wiped off the excess and now it is quite a bit softer, more flexible and has a deeper more resonate sound.

The tipper that came with the drum, for me was pretty useless, very short and heavily weighted on the ends. While I find some weight to the ends of the tipper helpful while playing, this one was too short to maneuver easily, so I merely used one I had on hand.

I'd definitely recommend this for anyone entertaining the idea of learning to play. Great price,(not horridly expensive if you later change your mind about learning to play or lose interest) fast shipping, hopedully your drum won't encounter the problems I had and the tipper will be prefect for you. Nice drum to just hang on the wall for decoration if you're into that, but what's the fun in that! :)

I am a bodhran player with more expensive drums. I purchased this one two years ago (when it was half this price), and it is my favorite. The head is supple with a nice tone. The tipper that accompanies it is also very nice: lighter and smaller than other tippers, so it's easier for smaller hands and longer playing with less hand fatigue. The frame is also lighter than other frames, which again lends itself to less playing fatigue. I highly recommend this drum as an excellent first drum. But again, I have been playing for several years and have other drums, and this one is my favorite. Mine came without a lot of hair. It was sans the decorative band, but I prefer it without it, anyway. I would definitely buy this again and probably will in the future.

Review of My First Science Experiments

Lakeshore Learning set quite a set to my kids. I didn't expect to see so many in the box. When my kids got home from preschool they had such a field day playing with Lakeshore Science Viewers: Complete Set & the My First Science Experiments. This whole package came to me super fast and full of fun in each box and lots of learning toy products for toddlers and up.

The Lakeshore Science Viewers: Complete Set which I never expected to get this many. I remember having a version like these in the 80/90′s when I was growing up and remembered how many hours I spent looking, changing, and pulling the lever down for a new picture. When my boys got this wonderful set from lakeshore learning we pulled all the round cards out, and started to stack them up. To look through the viewers. I gave 2 of them to a friend of mine who has a kiddo around the same age as W. The viewers are made of plastic, and they seem to handle much handling great. We dropped one on the hardwood and tile and it handled it very well, nothing broke or rattled so its safe to say toddlers won't damage them. The cards are made of cardboard and some kind of film, which will bend with little effort, so with that in mind I suggest letting your kids play with a few at a time. Each box shows off something different. Flowers, animals, mammals, and so on, over 35 pictures per box that's 5 discs per box. I like how they come with a viewer per box, just in case you lose one, or someone borrows it.

The My First Science Experiments was the very first toy we cracked open. Comes with salt, coloring tablets, tray, test tubes and so much more. You can do many experiments with just this box with just about 13 to be exact. My toddler had way more fun adding the colored tablets to the water more than anything, watching and listening to the water fizz as the colors dissolved. Once all the tablets, and salt is gone, your left with the tray and test tubes, which if you have items around the house you can keep playing with the science set. My kiddo's had fun playing with this set and spent a few hours experimenting with the ingredients included. The quality of the whole set is great and sturdy and handle much water weight in the test tubes, and the tray can handle the colored tablets fine, and wont dye the tray for future uses.

My son is (almost) a year old, and after seeing the Tag Jr. System I knew I had to get it for him, though he's still a bit young for it. I'm amazed at what TAG Jr. does for the price, it's very durable scanner with voice and interactivty for $35 and I got mine with coupon at a B&M store for $25.

The Pooh book is read by a pleasent sounding lady, and when you touch any of the charactors it plays clips in their voices. Pooh sounds like Pooh, Tigger sounds like Tigger, Eyore sounds like Eyore, etc.

There is music and it asks you to find things, like "Find all the pictures of Rabbit in this book".

I like that the Book is an actual board book, it doesn't have any electronics in it. All of the electronics are in the reader, the book is printed with a hardly noticable bar code like pattern that the reader uses to access stored info.

This book seems to have A LOT more activities than most of the other books we own, and we have 11 of them. This one is always downloaded into our Tag Jr. This one has the most stuff on the page and different sayings. Ni Hao Kilan (sp?) has more songs and music than the rest which is great. Cars is actually kind of disappointing. The Dr Seuss Mr Brown is a good one too.

My 2 1/2 yr old LOVES her Tag Jr. It is played with mulitple times a day for 2 months now with no end insight.
